Lovely meal with my husband. Was quiet but we went early in the evening. Food was delicious- fast service. Will definitely return

After to much of a Premier Inn - experience was time to find local food - ok the place was empty when I arrived but the welcome food was great . The food was way above the setting will return when I am on business—- Thanks

I’m a regular visitor with my daughter or a friend. The food is consistently good and the service always delightful. The portions are generous and fresh, and timely on arrival. The atmosphere is relaxing and quiet. There is ample parking just 70m away, and a great pub next door for retiring to after a meal.

Orderd a meal for two (it was a birthday treat) at 7.30pm we paid for it and Advised the food would be delivered in 45minutes 9.30pm no food, my partner called the Resturant the man put my partner on hold for 15mins we could here clearly they had forgotten our order we'd placed were then told the food would be with us in 35minutes! (Baring in mind the Resturant closes at 9.30pm ..the Food arrived at 10.45pm. The salt & pepper chips weren't seasoned just normal chips, the roast duck was inedible due to being fatty with very little meat on it, aside from this the food also arrived stone cold there was also no explanation, apology or care shown that we'd waited over 3hrs for this meal. I CANNOT fathom precisely how this establishment has managed to be awarded 5stars. I've eaten better quality food in hospital. (And better service to I may add) suffice to say we shall be giving this "Resturant " a wide berth .and based on our "Dining experience " I wouldn't even award 1 star for what we received.

We went on a Monday evening; we almost didn’t go in because the place was empty, BUT what a mistake that would have been. The food was superb - this place is well worth a visit, and a bonus is that the staff are accommodating. Give it a go

Group of 5 friends out to celebrate a birthday meal. 3 of us came up from Leicester to meet with friends. We were impressed by the range of the online menu. First ever visit. Easy parking nearby in the Beehive car park. In the end 3 of us opted for one of the set meals, while 2 of us went a la carte. Very wide-ranging menu with a bit of everything. Hor d'erves platter sizzling dishes crispy duck &c. All included in the set menu items. Quality of food and service were excellent. Menu included vegetarian selection. Few English style dishes.

Our first time eating here,came for friend's birthday meal,lovely friendly staff and the food was absolutely amazing!excellent value for money,will definitely come here again 😁

Initial description was for 35-45 mins for a delivery. Once order was placed this turned into 1hr 10 to 1hr 30mins. Fine, gets busy sometimes. A message was sent shortly after the 1hr 30 mins mark saying the food was on its way. 30 minutes later still no food, the restaurant took quite some time to answer the phone, apparently the food had set off 15 minutes ago and would soon arrive. This somewhat contradicts the message saying it had set off earlier. Food arrived shortly after the phone call, some of which was now at room temperature. The food here can repeat on you anyway but when you've been waiting two hours and some of the food is basically cold....well, would not recommend and will not order from here again.

Went to The Laughing Buddha. Met promptly with a smile and shown to our table. Started off with prawn crackers and then Sesame Prawn toast. Delicious. Mains were Chicken with ginger and pineapple and boiled rice, and Honey and lemon chicken, again with boiled rice. Both were very nice and portion size good. Service was good and swift.

Walked in and was greeted by wonderous staff who were nothing but a joy to speak to, server was lovely. The food was to die for, duck was moist, spring crispy, what more could a man want. Heavily recommend 6/6

We went to celebrate my birthday. Got there 8:40. Rushed our order. Told our started would have to come with our mains. Not a problem. Felt like the waitress just didn’t want us there. There was about 4 other full tables in at that time. My husband arranged a desserts with a candle to be delivered to our table. They did it while my husband was at the toilet. I felt very embarrassed. As they sang happy birthday to a lone person sat at a table. Before we had finished dessert they’d started spraying the floor around us with bleach smelling spray. And proceeded to mop the floor while we were still eating. Food was ok. But abit pricey for what it was.

First time back here since 2019. Did not disappoint, in fact, seemed better than ever. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service was speedy and attended with the usual courtesy. No doubt, we will return :)

We ate here last night (admittedly it was Fair Night) but booked for 6.30 to give us plenty of time. The food was lovely but we waited an hour after finishing our starters for the main course to arrive - no explanation or apology! There were couple of tables with families but by the time we left (8.30) the place was virtually empty. The waiting staff were fine - I guess the problem was in the kitchen.

Went here with the wife whilst in the area for a few days but was very disappointing. On arrival we were seated and asked if we would like to order drinks. we requested 2 Chinese beers only to be told they did not have any due to lorry driver shortages!! We settled for 2 Singha beers but they were not cold so not a good start.We looked at the menu and decided on one of the set meals as it had loads of dishes we liked. We was told the set menu we wanted could only be ordered for 3 or more and despite me saying to just make the portions smaller or charge us a little extra we was told this was not possible as "the chef doesn't like doing that" . we ordered mixed starter for 2 and some duck for next course whilst we were deciding what we might like for mains.Mixed starters arrived in quick time but would of fed 1 not 2 people. 2 tiny ribs,a handful of seaweed,2 small spring rolls,2 tiny strips of chicken sate which were so salty and 2 of the worst prawn toast i ever had.I had a bite of my prawn toast and it was empty!!. My wifes 1 was similar and like fried bread with no filling. we left those and ate the other bits as we were hungry. we was asked if everything was ok and i explained we was not happy with the starters to which we got a shrug and oh. The duck arrived and thankfully it was very nice although the pancakes had no lid on the steamer so the 2nd and 3rd pancakes were pretty cool by the time we ate them but was still ok. We also ordered a bottle of NZ Sav blanc and this was very nice and also cold thankfully. We decided not to order any mains as we didnt want anymore substandard food so we just finished our wine and asked for the bill. When we got the bill there was no adjustment or any offer of a drink or anything so i asked the waitress if she mentioned ur comments to the chef to which she replied yes but he said you had eaten most of it!!! There was only 1 other table in the restaurant so they were not busy by any means. All in all the worst service,food and attitude of staff i have ever come across and we most certainly will not be back. i understand sometimes things go wrong but it how the situation is dealt with that makes a good or bad restaurant

We eat here on a regular basis. The food is excellent & the staff are so nice & very helpful. The tables are spaced well apart & it is very comfortable. We absolutely love it.

We now don't bother going elsewhere else. Tried so many other places from recommendations, but none get close to this place. You won't be disappointed.

Had my first takeaway this evening, delivered by a smiley lady ... well her eyes were smiley. Arrived beautifully hot and very nicely cooked and the quality of the ingredients were good.. Even my husband enjoyed it. We will be ordering again and paying them a visit once things are back to normal. Portion size were large and my special curry was nice but a bit hot for my taste. Not a criticism more personal preference. I'm still giving them full marks.

Without a doubt, the best Chinese in Loughborough. Don’t be put off by the price- the quality of the food is unmatched in food and it’s clear that the restaurant has a passion for good food and good service. Staff are all lovely and takeaway is just as nice. If I had to recommend one thing- the capital spare ribs! Best ones I’ve ever tasted.

Well what can I say ... staff were so friendly, very informative and gave confidence that they truly understood the gluten free and MSG free aspects which we required. The food was ready at the time agreed for collection, was extremely fresh with quality ingredients and very flavourful. Perfect. Thank you we will definitely be back.

This really is a great Chinese restaurant! While so many other Chinese restaurants tend to fill their dishes with piles of uninspiring onions or peppers, the Laughing Buddha serve well balanced, expertly cooked, delicious dishes of just what was ordered. If that was a vegetable dish, you can be sure it’ll be cooked just right and full of flavour; if it was a prawn dish, you’ll get a handsome serving of juicy, king sized prawns! Their duck is amazing! Surely has to be the best Chinese food in the East Midlands. Why only four stars? The decor lacks atmosphere and the chairs, although new and good quality, they’re just a little uncomfortable. And while some other contributors have said the staff are unfriendly, I didn’t find that at all.

Manager (possibly the owner) very rude.Was told had to pay full price for my child even tho he was under the max age of "advertised child price". Reason because my son was over "his height restriction".It didnt state anywhere about a height restriction, only child price age. Wouldn't of minded so much if food was ok, but it was stodgy and greasy. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't go back. There are so many nicer places than this.And they need to learn some customer care skills.

Ate here early on a Thursday evening. This is our favourite restaurant in Loughborough. Meal was as usual delicious, the service excellent. The staff are really lovely & very friendly. A lovely meal at a really reasonable price.

All the food was very spicy and the lady at the front desk with short black hair and a fringe was damn right rude! We had to order 2 separate dishes as everything was way to hot for our 6 year old, her response was HER KIDS ALL EAT SPICY FOOD. (Keep in mind, nothing on the menu says its spicy)

We have visited twice now as a group of 5.Both times we have had very good service and the food has been absolutely delicious! We have tried quiet a range of dishes and have not been disappointed yet.The staff have gone out of their way to accommodate food requests and that was very much appreciated.I’m sure we will be back

Normally I've had nothing but fab service and meal, unfortunately I was so diappointed this time. Table was booked for 7.15 walked out at 9.45 having not had my food!!. We were a table of 6, 5 had a set meal I just had a main meal, the 5 got there starters but by 9.45 we hadn't had our main course I felt dizzy because I hadn't eaten so we left and went to the chip shop!. Not sure what problems they were having would of been nice if they just came up at some point and apologised but nothing such a shame as I loved going here. Hopefully it's just a one off. Not sure I will ever go back

Went tonight for a meal before a show so we were there not long after it opened and we’re the only people in at the time. It was a little cold in there but we appreciated that it was still early. The lady that took our order was very pleasant and friendly. We ordered the special set meal for 3 which was £23.50 per person. We clearly didn’t have to wait long but we weren’t rushed either. There was plenty of food and it was all very tasty. Would definitely recommend and go again if in the area

As locals this is our go to restaurant for a delicious chinese. The food is so tasty and always really fresh (sometimes have to wait as they cook fresh but is always worth it). We went last night and I was sad to see that it was quite quiet, would be lovely to see more chinese decor and a but more theatre - maybe a pianist on a Saturday evening to draw the crowds in, although the food alone should do that! Thankyou for another lovely evening!

We have only just discovered this wonderful place but have already returned. The menu is extensive; food excellent, promptly served and good value. We have enjoyed two fantastic meals and I'm sure we will return again soon. My only question is....why is this restaurant not more full?

We visit this restaurant on a regular basis. The food is always excellent & the staff really friendly. It is a very comfortable restaurant, not overly ornate which you sometimes get with this type of restaurant. Nothing is too much trouble, an excellent place to eat.

Some of the food at the Laughing Buddha was very dry whereas some was very watery and almost felt like it should have been in a cup. I hope they fix the stuff around there soon 😡

Always enjoyed food at this restaurant so sad to report it definitely is not what it used to be. The Cantonese sweet and sour dish always used to be delicious but what we had recently was stodgy and fairly tasteless. Other dishes also not as tasty. Very disappointing.

The Laughing Buddha has opted for a fairly plain, stark decor. Whilst it is certainly preferable to an overly ornate decor dripping with chinoiserie, it is rather lacking in atmosphere. Our seafood platter starter was very tasty and we enjoyed the duck and beef dishes for our main course. However, our sizzling chicken was positively tough. Overall, the food was adequate but nothing special and a disappointment against what we had experienced in the past (albeit many moons ago). No complaints about the service which was prompt and attentive.

6 of us Dined here on Friday 1st June - we had the set menu for 5 (1 of us was a picky eater and eats very little!!) - It was really good - decent portions and the food was delicious - not one of the courses was a let down, even the picky eater enjoyed what they tried!! - staff were lovely and very attentive and helpful. Not the cheapest set menu - but we certainly got what we paid for and will definitely come back

The food and overall ambience of the restaurant was quite impressive. The quality of the Chinese cuisine while being a little Westernised was good the only downside being the portions which are quite small. The staff who were attentive ensured we had an enjoyable evening.

The restaurant has a wide choice of Chinese cuisine. Very willing to change menus to suit. Can cope very well for vegetarians and other dietary needs. All tasty and well cooked. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Takeaways are also very good and delivered well within time promised. Good value for money.

Called in at this fine restaurant during our visit to Loughborough Fair last Thursday evening November 9th 2017, My wife and I rated it very highly indeed, The food was exceptional , and the service was too , we will certainly visit again soon.

We try to get here at least once a month because it's become a firm favourite with me and my husband as the service is always good and the food is delicious.

ordered 2 meals saturday night. absolutely awful worst chinese ive ever had. both meals had no flavour tasted like tinned food. the curry sauce was watery and the rice was congealed. the sweet and sour chicken seemed off. dont understand people praising this place. if this is the best loughborough has good help it.

When you buy a meal form a restaurant and have it as a take-away Im sure you do not expect to pay for a full sit down meal price!!! this is not something I have ever had to do. I sent my son to buy what I felt was a small meal for three and for 1 x King Prawn Foo-yung, 1 x chicken sweet & sour, 2 x chips, 1 x prawn toast and 1 x small pot of curry sauce should come to far less that the £23.00 they charged him. Also the King Prawn Foo-Yung only had 3 1/2 prawns in it. This is one place to avoid unless you want to feel the Buddha is laughing at you once you pay over the odds.

Ordered a takeaway for family event. Great service from polite and professional staff. Fantastic food...gourmets in our family raved about it. Good price. Definitely go there again. Hidden treasure in town...outstanding.

Pedimos una sopa cada combinación para comenzar luego el plato para dos, luego un plato de arroz con huevo frito y para terminar un Café cada todo esto incluyendo una pinta de Strongbow y 2 vasos de Coca Cola fue menos de £33 Muy Buena relación calidad-precio. La comida era excelente y el servicio muy eficiente. Sin duda, volveremos. Altamente recomendado.

Situado en una calle lateral de la carretera principal, este Chino Leicester es una joya poco. Bien, el entorno no son pintorescos y el tráfico es constantemente de conducir por. Sin embargo, la comida aquí es muy buena. Mi familia no ha tenido una mala comida. El Pato Pekín es genial. Es buena comida china. No es de lujo, no hay lujos. El dueño es un gran carácter que siempre es muy servicial, amable y atento, así como todo el personal. El interior es espacioso, bien iluminado, con manteles blancos. En resumen, una buena noche todos.

Este tiene que ser el mejor restaurante chino por millas y creo que hemos probado unos cuantos. Los ingredientes son siempre sabrosos y muy fresca, la cocina es genial, nunca grasienta o más condimentadas, los precios son buenos, el servicio es genial y está cerca...

We lived 5 years in Loughborough and Laughing Buddha always was our first choice for Chinese food. We tried other restaurants serving Chinese cuisine but none of them have topped LB. The owners, Tim and his wife, are extremely friendly people who take pride in serving very good and diverse food. We used to go eat for the Sunday buffet which is a must! The chicken and sweetcorn soup is absolutely delicious. The chow mein is excellent. The satay chicken is to die for. All in all, a fantastic place for great food and very friendly owners. We always go back to eat there whenever we happen to be in town.

Celebrated Ma and Pa's 50th wedding anniversary here a couple of Saturdays ago. 13 of us. Staff were extremely kind and helpful. Food amazing, particularly the banquet. £25 a head but loads left for a doggy bag that fed 4 very lucky people the following evening. Thanks for making the evening a great success, we are still talking about it. Look forward to our next visit.

Visited early evening to take advantage of the early bird menu. Very good value for money and plenty to choose from. The place was empty but we didnt mind as the ownwer (i think he was) was very accomadating and made our experience a good one. We will be returning soon to have a go at the sunday buffet which will give us chance to try even more dishes.

I decided, (last minute), to go with a friend to this restaurant. They did accommodate us and when we arrived the waitress was very pleasant and helpful. It was obviously a very busy evening and the staff were a little stretched at times. I had two starters. The rice paper wrapped prawn meat was really nice, very light and very tasty. The other starter was a little disappointing, skewered chicken with satay sauce. The chicken seemed very chewy and I could not taste any nuts/peanuts at all in the sauce? My main dishes included Sizzling lamb with ginger and spring onions, Pork with cashew nuts, Squid in black bean sauce and House Special fried noodles. The noodles with bean sprouts were very delicious and in a nice sauce. My other dishes required more flavour. The most disappointing dish was the squid which was over cooked and very tough. Squid when cooked properly should be tender. Was this squid just out of the deep freeze and then over cooked? The pork with cashew nuts was tasty but really needed a lot more flavour. Maybe if there was some more fat left on the pork then the flavour would have been better. The ambience was very congenial and there are many positive aspects to this venue, it just requires a little more care with some of the food.

Good choice of dishes on the menu which were reasonably priced. The food was really tasty and courses served at a decent pace, didn't have to wait long but didn't feel rushed either. Staff were attentive but not overbearing. Overall a very enjoyable experience and one we will repeat next time we are in the area.

My family and of course myself went here for a meal, the owner and his wife were fantastic hosts, good customer service very pleased with all the service... we were attended to and kept well with drink offers sauces and so on... This was for the A la carte menu and not the buffet service. The dishes were authentic all the dishes had an authentic different taste unlike a lot of Cantonese foods, I would recommend this to a family and it's not your typical Chinese restaurant it has a nice vibe. Will go again in the near future it was enjoyable. Couldn't thank the staff enough for a please try meal.

We have eaten in this restaurant quite a few times & the food is always excellent. The staff are really friendly & helpful & nothing is too much trouble. There is plenty of choice on the menu, i am vegetarian & have a good choice of dishes. The food is plentiful & very reasonably priced. We used to visit various Chinese restaurants in Loughborough but now only eat at this one. I always have a dessert even if i am full as to me no meal is complete without one! I recommend the warm chocolate cake with chocolate sauce, it is divine.

We went as a party of 8 on Saturday night, about 7.30pm, the place was empty. The prices on the menu seemed very highly priced, but we ordered as we were there for a birthday treat, the food came. About 7/8 different dishes with rice and noodles and most of them looked the same and more disappointing was that they even tasted the same and when the bill came, it was more of shocking to say the least, as we were still hungry. Not at all like it used to be, have not been here for a very long time and will not be coming back either, sorry......

we stayed in Loughborough for just 1 night and decided to go chinese and found this place. i am glad we did. the food was very good as was the service. the owner even showed me how to use chopsticks. if i pass this way again i will definitely eat here

The restaurant was not overly full which afforded us the full attention of the waiters. Our meal came in a timely manner and was genuinely delicious especially the bean curd with chilli and a black bean sauce.

Dined there last week with 6 colleagues and we were very well looked after. A broad menu, good food and attentive service. Well priced. Worth a visit.

The food is quite nice and very different to the food that is traditionally served. However, some of the food wasn't very nice, but overall the food is good.

It's not the best Chinese, go to the Basin for that - but it does a good value early evening 2 course meal that's worth the money.

Struck immediately by attentive service upon arrival and then throughout our meal. No problems with special diet requests. Beautifully presented meal, cooked very well and tasted wonderful. Will go again when in Loughborough.

We went here as a family for the fisrt time in years which it had since had a refurbishment of a lovely modern style inside.The food was a bit of a wait but it was all very nice we had a lovely meal and will go back.

We ordered takeaway on a Thursday evening. the service was reliable and friendly. The dishes were exactly what I would expect from an English Chinese. Tasted good and I woke up with the familiar dehydrated MSG feeling the next day.

As a coeliac it is difficult to find a restaurant which provides a variety of choices for gluten free options. Such a lovely little restaurant and the owner was lovely too. Instead of being told what I couldn't have, basically I told him what I ideally wanted and amazing they could do everything, something that I find no standard take away or restaurant has ever provided.Trust me, if you like ribs (and I normally choose the sweet options) we had the salt ribs (without chilli)...to die for :) The sweet and sour prawns canton style was lovely too.The owner really knows what is in his food and is all cooked fresh.Even if you are not a coeliac you have to try this place if you love Chinese.

Very nice Sunday Buffet on offer at Laughing Buddha, definitely the best Chinese Sunday buffet in Loughborough. Fresh, hot food and a nice selection including more healthy options. Fresh fruit provided for dessert, alongside cakes, so it's suitable for health-nuts as well! Finally, it is very reasonably priced, meaning great value for money. Recommended!

Good things are : table looks clean, staff are friendly.bad things are: the staff automatically change our order without asking us; some dishes are a bit salty; the replaced dish that was some kind of tofu and it smells almost gone bad; we wait for long for the dishes.

Went as part of a group of four. Surprisingly there was only one other group of three in the restaurant, so service was quick and efficient.We had the combination platter for starters and these were particularly good.All very nice and I'd definitely recommend a visit.Friendly staff.

They could not deliver as we live to far for delivery. He offered to run the food out if I honked so I wouldn't have to find parking, which was nice. We ordered Singapore noodles, they were delicious and large portion. Crispy duck was nice and crispy. Ginger beef was not too greasy and very good, my 8 year old polished it off. Seawood waa good too! The only thing we didn't love was the chicken balls, there was a lot more batter than chicken. But everything else was excellent.

What a find this restaurant is. Crisp clean flavours. Generous portions and not expensive.We ordered four main courses between four but brought lots home because we couldn't eat it all. We will definitely be back

My wife and I had a wonderful meal at the Laughing Buddha. Tim the owner is clearly very passionate about his food and is excellent front of house. The restaurant is different to the other oriental restaurants in town. Tim's focus is on quality of food and experience whereas others pile it high for minimum cost but sacrifice taste. I've travelled to China and Singapore on multiple occasions and in my view the food at the Laughing Buddha takes Chinese dishes that are best suited to western taste. Cooking was top class: the marinade on the aromatic duck was perfect. The crispy chilli beef was the best I've eaten - crispy and yet not chewy, and tender and moist in the middle. Wow. The sad thing was that the restaurant was so quiet.I'd encourage anyone seeking a lovely night of Chinese food out to visit Tim and his wife at their wonderful establishment.

Just had a takeaway, portion sizes very good but really disappointed in the meals as they had no flavour. House special friend rice was very dry. Won't bother again :(

Short walk from premier inn, the food and service was excellent.We were 3 and ordered a set meal for 2 with one extra dish and it was plenty.Food served really well, selection of starters followed by crispy duck and pancakes and then the main dishes, all delicious.Nice white cloths and all round tables, easy for sharing dishes.The lady,possible co owner, was delightful.

Good range of well cooked Chinese foods that cater to all tastes. Even Veggies have no problem. The owner and his staff are helpful and attentive without being intrusive. Prices are great , parking is easy and there is a good pub next door. Who could ask for anything more?

The best Chinese restaurant in Loughborough. Great food, friendly staff. Love the round tables when out with a group of friends... so much easier to chat! We bring the children here too and they love it... also cater for gluten free diets without any fuss at all... fab!!

Great food made for the evening's success. But this not fully reflected at "front of house." No one checked if we were having a satisfactory experience. Manager seemed distance and appeared unhappy that a guest of mine asked for a spoon!

My husband and I wanted a simple Cantonese meal, we chose the Laughing Buddha. It was lovely. We ordered half peking Duck, which was one of the best I have tasted. The meat was cooked to perfection, it was tasty and melted in the mouth, and there were plenty of accompanyments. My husdand and I shared a chicken curry, sizzling beef, and boiled rice. All dishes were extremely tasty. The meat was tender and with just the right amount of spice and heat, (although I admit, this is very subjective).A lovely chilled Sancerre was served, what could be better??? All dishes were served promptly and with friendly smiles. It was all a very nice experience, and one I will be repeating.

We picked this restaurant after viewing other restaurants in the area online. We were not disappointed with any of it. The food, service and overall atmosphere of the The Laughing Buddha was excellent and would definitely recommend this restaurant a visit. The chicken and spring onions in ginger was gorgeous and the best I've ever eaten also the sweet chilli sauce was amazing.

I really fancied a Chinese today and popped into this restaurant for the first time ! We were greated by a very frendly owner and they offer an excellent lunch time menu.I had the chilli and wings to start ! Top Marks !!and then for the main Chicken schezwan with Fried rice ! I asked for a bit more spice ! Wow it was Hot and Very Tasty !! Loved ItGreat Value for money and good service.I will be definitely be returning in the near future.

According to Tripadvisor this place was worthy of a visit. I ordered a King Prawn schezwan and a fried rice takeaway. The King Prawn dish was bland and the rice was strange!!!!We were visiting Loughborough hence using TA to see what restaurants were recommended. Our local Chinese takeaway provides much better food. Wont be going back. After having ordered the locals suggested a Chinese takeaway just around the corner!!!I think they may be the best judge.

This is Loughborough's best Chinese restaurant, the food is freshly cooked and very tasty, the service is good and the restaurant owner is always really obliging. Plus if you get there before seven they offer a really good early bird menu which is great if you want a nice meal before going to see a film.

12 of us met up and had a really great meal, a good variety of dishes served piping hot by excellent friendly staff, Excellent value for money we will certainly visit again.

Chinese/ Cantonese food has been off our list of options for several years. All the places we have been and rang use soy sauce containing gluten/ flour for battering that is not GF. We saw a review for the Laughing Buddah on Trip Advisor and thought it was worth trying again (1st came here in 2009 when GF wasn't an issue, I can't work out why we never came back).The fact that they can adapt the menu to suit the needs of a gluten free diet. The whole menu. It's not one or two dishes, or 'you can just have the vegetables', it's everything which means everything is cooked fresh.It's all fresh. It takes a while for food to some out - because it is all cooked fresh. And you can tell. When you are chatting away though it's hardly noticeable. Go with friends, it really is lovely food, full of flavour.The service is efficient and friendly. No one hanging around and constantly checking on the table, but if you want anything they are there quickly with a smile. It is service I like. This gives The Laughing Buddah a relaxed and informal feel.Whether you want GF or not, this is a great place to come and eat. We rang to book for a 7.30 table on a Saturday for 5. But if you were a smaller group/ couple you may have got in without booking.They also do takeaway - and we will be trying that before too long. Great place.The only thing they could do to make it better, for me, is to advertise the fact they can cater for GF and if they went down the route of clarity regarding their sourcing of meat.

10 of us went for Mothers day had a great meal good choice the food was excellent and really hot ,was disappointed with the pudding think there should have been more choice. Over all a great meal .

Had a great meal here, saw a review on facebook about the owner being great at accommodating for coeliacs and decided to give it go. The owner was so kind and helpful and asked me to order whatever I wanted and he would adapt the recipe for me. The food tasted great and I will definitely be going back! Its not as cheap as your average chinese, some dishes are a bit pricey but a great treat and definitely worth it for the taste and the quality of the food.

Four of us visited this great restaurant for Chinese New Year, and as usual the meal was superb. Although it was a busy Saturday night, the staff were very friendly & efficient. The meals were freshly cooked and well presented. Really enjoy going to this restaurant.

Absolutely gorgeous food. Best spring rolls we've ever tasted. Main courses very tasty & fantastic service at a very clean restaurant. Highly recommended :)

An ok take away. Nothing to shout about. The prawn schezuan was tasty enough but lacking in ingredients. Can't seem to get a decent Chinese take away in Loughborough. Won't be going back to this restaurant I'm afraid.

I have eaten at this small Chinese restaurant many times. Clean crisp cloths and napkins. Clean fresh toilet facilities. The food is freshly cooked and tasty. The wine list is varied. Haven't really had bar drinks so do not know the selection. Both food and wine are priced perhaps a little higher but you do get the value and service. Also excellent Take Away service.Definatly recommend

love this place and warmed atmosphere. food is very tasty and brilliant carved vegetable presentation proper food very good chef,you don't get many restaurant like this nowaday .this is a "MUST GO"if you are in loughborough strongly recommended

I came here with a group of 5. I had a lovely spicy meal. The service was prompt. Though it was a little bit pricey it was worth it!

Loughborough is well-blessed with good Oriental restaurants, offering very good food and dining experience at good prices, so I was expecting something special from this one as their menu is slightly higher priced than some of their competitors.The restaurant is nicely presented, clean and the tables well spaced. It doesn't feel cramped or crowded. Drinks selection is limited. There appeared to be only one draft beer available. The drinks cabinet was not illuminated, making it difficult to see what you could order without continually asking, "Do you have?"We were a large work part of 20+ (and a little loud!). It was obvious that this was a social night out, yet we were asked three times, in quick succession, if we were ready to order. It felt a bit rushed, despite the place not being full. Our waitress came across as surely and uninterested. She plated our 10 seat table from one position, expecting diners to pass the plates around. If this was a budget eatery, you could forgive that (almost) but this is not acceptable at the level this restaurant is aiming at. Food was similar to available elsewhere, nothing special, but served promptly and well-cooked. All-in-all, not a bad place, but in a town where their is so much choice for this type of food, they need to shave a little of their prices or improve their bar and service.
