If you are looking for an authentic, fresh and taste filled Hong Kong-style food experience; go here. From the moment you walk in you know everything is fresh just from the aroma of spices that float around the restaurant. Every meal is cooked to order and with the visual menu that has your mouth watering before you sit down you know it's going to be great. The soup of beef brisket alone is phenominal and the mains are incredible. I've tried a few dishes this time and can't fault a single one. The stir-fried clams with black bean sauce was perfectly done with the lovely umami taste from the fresh clams. The sizzling chicken pot was theatrical yet tasty. And the iced lemon tea and Hong Kong style milk tea are not be missed. Perfect for a family meal, date or just a spot of lunch. Don't think I could eat at another Chinese/ Hong Kong style restaurant in UK and I'm not bothered at all. Truly a hidden gem, run by a passionate Hongkonger that want you to enjoy what they have to offer in culinary delights.

I just wanted to say thank you to all of you at 1998 for a fantastic meal. Excellent food, friendly staff, a wonderful relaxed atmosphere all underlined by a passion for Hong Kong and it's cuisine. We shared the takoyaki, Korean chicken wings and pork gyozas to start - all delicious. I had the beef don - this was brilliant, although the star of the show was the Satay beef hotpot - this was one of the loveliest things I have eaten in a long time, anywhere. All in, with drinks, it was about £20 per person which I think represents amazing value. This restaurant is a credit to it's owners and staff and I will not hesitate to return and mention to friends. It's a rare gem, and Loughborough is lucky to have it. Well done.

I popped in for a quick lunch. The cafe was busy so the service was a bit slow, other than that, food and drink was decent, price was reasonable.

Impressive Hong Kong style cuisine. Lamb pod with tasty sauce is perfect for rice. Oyster cake is better than what I have tried in HK as they use fresh duck eggs. Will certainly visit again.
