Tasted as good as it looked and it looked wonderful. Very friendly and helpful service. My mother was delighted with it.

Have been a few times here for lunch, this time I had scallops to start(fantastic), a salmon and hake wellington which was nice but needed more sauce, it was a little dry, followed by an espresso crème brûlée (lovely). The whole pub was very busy and a great vibe, plenty of happy people and noise that I like . The staff were also lovely and the main waitress was fab. If you’ve not been then try it, best to book.

Shame , had we been informed earlier about cash only , we would have spend more money on food and drinks . My phone was ringing while driving to the venue . A bit late then . On arrival we were told sorry we have just taken over so cash only ! I went across to Sainsburys to do a cash back only £30 allowed . Between us we had less then £50 . So good choose was limited and drinks. Dominic and the young lady were polite and helpful . No compensation offered a free drink or coffee for the inconvenience not a great start to opening a pub/restaurant !

I have been visiting The Priory for many years to eat and socialise but I won't be giving them my custom again. It is now table service only now which is good but you pay through the nose for the privilege. The service was good and the food was fine but it definitely wasn't value for money. In the past, main courses were always accompanied by a side of chips, boiled or jacket potatoes and you had to pay for extras such a vegetables and bread. I was expecting the same when I ate there recently and was very disappointed when the bill arrived. We had to pay have an extra £4.50 each for the chips. Yes, they were as good as always (I love The Priory chips!) but I didn't expect to have to pay for them in addition to the peppercorn sauce (£4) and water for the table (£4.50)!! The sirloin steak was fine but not worth the money spent! I know times are tough for businesses but this was daylight robbery, in my opinion! I won't be back & I know that I'm not the only one!

Always a warm welcome we usually book a table as we wouldn't want to be disappointed. Service fast and efficient ordering food is simple plenty of choice and reasonable price. Foodpresentedwell. Nice size portions. Not to big just the right size portion always cooked to order and arrives hot . Very tasty.

We visited for Sunday lunch for a family celebration and certainly made the wrong choice. Firstly no bread to accompany the soup - asked the hostess for assistance who disappeared and returned with ‘they’re just cooking it’! Waited and waited eventually approached the female who appeared to be the restaurant manager and was told ‘I've just been in the kitchen and it’s on the way’. By this time my husband had eaten his soup without the bread and mine was cold so explained to the manager who took my soup until the bread could be baked. Eventually she reappeared with some rolls on a plate which she delivered to our table. I then proceeded, along with my granddaughter, to serve my replacement soup only to find that there was no soup! Another guest was waiting for a replenishment and told me she had been waiting ‘for a while’. We waited and waited - a total of 15 minutes - until the soup arrived. Whilst waiting we observed a waiter pick up a carton of ice cream sauce which he dropped on the floor, recovered and replaced on the top of the ice cream machine - hardly health and safety. Unfortunately the soup and bread incident was only the beginning - no Yorkshire puddings, pork crackling, cauliflower cheese, Greek salad, horseradish sauce, green vegetables - all awaiting replenishment - the list goes on. I have attempted to speak to the food and beverage manager but unfortunately he and his team are either in meetings or on courses and there is nobody answering any telephones. I did manage to speak to a lady in the events team who promised to have someone contact me but they must be extremely busy in meetings or on courses as no one has had the courtesy to satisfy my request. I did attempt to speak to someone again today but was met with a very hostile response ‘they are not taking calls’ - maybe other guests who tried to enjoy a lunch on Sunday are trying to speak to these people?? Celtic Manor Directors - please do not ignore or disregard your clientele as they are the very people that you need to ensure you have a business - hopefully someone will now have the common courtesy to speak to me.
