The staff were friendly.we thought the rooms were a bit dated.we got quoted £143 for bed & breakfast & got charged £145.there wasn't a bar area to sit & chill & no t.v.we got offered a dining area to sit with our drinks with a nice view but wasn't that comfortable.the breakfast was first class.it was OK for the night but I don't think it's worth £143/145.on my opinion

Popped in for some food today , not expecting more than average pub grub. Got that wrong, my burger was excellent and my partner thought her prawn tempura and loaded potato skins were outstanding. Staff were attentive and polite. Will definitely be back next time we are in Irvine.

The good is decent enough but I always leave feeling it’s never quite worth the money. Kids meals are 9 quid and don’t even include a drink. It could easily be (and often is for us) the most expensive meal you’ll have on the island, without ever really delivering anything to justify that tag.

Lovely cafe with a bright open outlook and a nice atmosphere. The Arran Brekkie was fantastic and so tasty - the Eggs Benedict had perfectly cooked poached eggs and lovely bacon. The service was warm, friendly and prompt and it didn’t take long before our food arrived. As far as breakfasts come - this is as good as it gets, we absolutely loved it

We are regular visitors to vanilla joes where they make their ice cream on the premises. Loads of different flavours available. We both had a double cone and then went back for another double cone since we don’t get over there very often. We had pistachio ice cream, and strawberry cheesecake ice cream and Scottish tablet, with Belgium chocolate the second time round. They are nicely served in a quality cone with a lovely wafer.

My wife and some friends went to dinner here and had a lovely relaxing time. It’s bring your own wine. It was very quiet in the restaurant on a Friday night (Peak summer season) so had little atmosphere but the place was chill and the staff were nice and friendly. Maybe some louder background music to fill the room a bit more would’ve been nicer. I think it’s quiet because of the restaurant location, but the window views looking onto the water are stunning. Decor is cute because it’s all lighthouse themed. The meal itself was delicious and had lots of options available on the chalk board menu. Our group all had empty plates and the desserts afterwards were to die for. Seriously unreal, the banoffee pie had tonnes of caramel on it and the creme brûlée was perfect!! Will definitely return.

I'm a regular at the smokery next door and have been wanting to try the restaurant for some time. A limited menu, but the food was absolutely fine, only suggestion there would be that if you're serving an entire fish it's always helpful to have a second plate to deposit the bones. Service was the real let-down though. Door was opened by a young man who knew the right words to welcome people but did so in a very detached sort of way - efficient enough but small talk, or even normal pleasantries, definitely not encouraged. His female colleague was a bit more personable, but easily distracted by a succession of males who seemed to be working outside and kept coming and going through an external kitchen door to have a bit of a flirt with her. Almost certainly not in line with kitchen hygiene to be entering in dirty work clothes, and I don't really want to pay to have a meal while listening to them chatting each other up.

Had lunch and cakes here, one of the best places for to go for food during the day on the island. It’s well liked and well known by a lot of visitors. People have been going for 20 years+. Got some history about it and the place has never changed. Highly recommend the specialty meringue cake dish. It’s huge but worth it. Really disappointed about the annoying opening hours. We drove to visit one day on a Saturday and it was closed. Turns out it was SHUT FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY, MONDAY EVERY WEEK DURING THE SUMMER PEAK PERIOD!! And we’ve found it it’ll be closed over winter too. We hear it’s to do with staffing issues which is a current issue but it was really disappointing to be closed on such busy peak days. Doesn’t make sense and we drove all that way

Can highly recommend the homemade lamb curry which is very tender and tasty and the homemade Cullen Skink is perfect, served with homemade bread. Very healthy and made with good quality ingredients as was the sticky toffee pudding made with dates so must be one of your five a day! Lovely, friendly staff that make you feel welcome. Easily accessible for day trippers as a bus will drop you right off from Brodick ferry terminal or a welcome stop on the circular Fisherman's Walk.
