We went with our baby and dog a couple of times during our stay. The food, both sweet and savoury, is delicious. Fantastic selection of cakes with quite a few different to what you usually find in a tearoom (in a good way!). They do takeaway on some of the savoury options and the cakes if you can't get a seat as the cafe has limited seating. Lovely, friendly staff who made us feel welcome.

Just the best selection of such unusual and exciting cakes, really hard to choose between them. Quiche and slaw was excellent and then a damsony/ nutty appley bake (that was fab to follow. Also tried a. mouthful of my friends baked cheesecake.... Divine...and so we splashed out and took home a box of polenta and ginger cakes for tea...... Can't praise this cafe enough and love the big communal tables which make it all seem so friendly and inclusive. Lovely staff, good atmosphere. Great chai tea too... Thankyou so much.... we will be back for more..

Don’t tell my mother, the cakes here were better than hers.! We liked the two large tables, which lead to naturally starting conversations with other diners and added to the atmosphere. We have been coming to Arran on holiday twice a year for the last 10 years before children and now with our children. We have visited this tearoom on lots of occasions and even with family when they have come over. We make a point of coming for the lovely homemade sausage rolls and amazing soups and we have lots of photos of both our kids in here over the last few years enjoying themselves. The cakes are to die for especially the cinnamon buns and before this week I would 100% recommend this place to anyone visiting Arran. Since covid I’d have said it’s not been quite the same like a lot of places but still enjoyable. Unfortunately on this holiday we went in and it’s been changed to 2 large tables that are basically saying please don’t eat in here, it’s so unsociable and awkward. How can you have a tea room with only 2 tables? It’s like a waiting area. There was only one couple in when we arrived so not busy and the staff, both who have served us in the past(possibly owners) didn’t even look up and say hi or acknowledge that we had entered. We sat down with the kids and no highchair to be seen this time. No one came over or said they would be with us soon. Eventually my husband had to ask if we could order and was there a menu for kids or even some chips to which the lady replied, no sorry we only serve heathy!! How rude and what a joke considering you serve sausage rolls, cakes and ice cream? If you look at the pictures from your other reviews on here it might remind you what food you serve and what food you always served in the past. We said we would go somewhere else for lunch as the kids would’ve eat soup and be back later for a lovely coffee and cake and we didn’t even get an answer or a goodbye. You should be ashamed of your rudeness. We were so looking forward to our usual experience and we left sad and disappointed. You might not want to serve the tourists but that’s who keeps your business going. Hopefully this was you having a bad day but what a difference to how you used to be. Arran is full of amazing welcoming coffee shops so you can’t afford to be rude and unwelcoming. We went along the road to The shore in Whiting Bay where we were greeted instantly and made feel very welcome.

You are positively spoiled for choice for great food. The sausage rolls - vegan and meaty - the baking, the soup, the interesting variety of dishes and sandwiches. All of this mounts up to make this a great wee cafe. There is seating inside. Although a bit limited, we always seemed to be lucky. The staff are constantly on the go but without exception very pleasant. You could dine from here every day and have something completely different. Everything is fresh and they do sell out. So go earlyish (especially if you want a vegan sausage roll). My favourite cafe.

The Old Pier Tearoom in Lamlash is a smart cafe. The menu contains a good selection of hot and cold snacks and sandwiches and they also have very nice looking cakes. We simply had bacon and egg breakfast rolls which were tasty and generously filled, and a pot of tea, all of which hit the spot perfectly. Prices are reasonable and the service very good. It’s important to note that in addition to being a tearoom, this is also an excellent bakery and the breads and cakes on display looked superb, as was the mouthwatering aroma of the freshly baked sausage rolls. We did try to eat here on two occasions. The first time they were closed, not a problem, though would have been nice for them to display their opening times to avoid disappointment. The second we found very chaotic due to poorly implemented covid measures. In the end we aborted and went elsewhere to escape the madness inside. We saw that the cafe sold gluten free cakes so went in and sat down. There were 2 gf cakes that were not stored separately from other cakes (one of which was directly underneath other cakes). Then we watched them cut several slices of cake, including gf, with the same knife. They told us that they had separate knives and that they were boiled between use. What we saw was one knife being sprayed on the coffee machine. Against our better judgement, and because the weather was bad, we had already ordered. Someone else ate it and it wasn't that great anyway. Wouldn't recommend.

A gorgeous victoria sponge cake, home made sausage roll with side salad and a super salad dressing... Do go there as the food is great and folks really friendly.

Good food, soup was really tasty, staff are friendly, service is quick. Limited opening hours but worth visiting. Feels like a real community meeting place. Huge slices of cake and a warm and clean coffee shop. Worth visiting for lunch.

We were a bit disappointed with our visit here. Apart from one lovely waitress the staff weren’t very attentive. Two of the younger staff were messing about behind the bar rather than serving customers. The food wasn’t the quality you would expect for the price- We had a small steak and chips with no veg and an open seafood lasagne which was really bitter.

Kelly has the best cafe inside here, if you’re looking for food in Ardrossan then this is the place to go!

Great lunch spot, fab team of polite, cheerful and energetic staff - Megan and Annie in particular are superb. Menu seems more limited on some days than other for no apparent reason but everything produced is good quality, tasty and reasonable portion sizes. Always feel it could do with more tables than it has!
