The best restaurants serving British food in Scottish Borders Lowlands

Shut down , this establishment no longer exists. Went to Jedbrugh expecting several dining options but really disappointed as most where no longer in business.

Lovely find on our 1st visit to Stow came over the hills from Lauder and fancied a coffee and cheese scone - was not disappointed - great wee cafe with plenty choice - prices good too and lovely atmosphere and very nice lady served us - thank you so much we will be back

We had a tipsy afternoon tea at Christmas time which was amazing, so we returned shortly after for another afternoon tea which was also delicious. We have one of our group requiring 'gluten free' and one is 'dairy free' which were produced with no issues, we were never led to believe it was any trouble. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and the newly refurbished bar area is lovely. Highly recommend 👌

We had to visit when we saw the name over the cafe. A lovely spot for lunch with friendly staff and nice comfortable surroundings with a good selection of tasty food options. Find is a lovely town and lovely to see how proud they are about their motoring champion.

We recently visited this restaurant for a family meal, the food was really good and the atmosphere was good. The staff were attentive to our needs.

Went for a lunch and very nice indeed. Decided on scampi and food came quickly and very generous portions and reasonably priced. Only downside was room was a bit smokey from the kitchen but will definitely be back.

Charming staff, and wholesome food, makes this a firm favourite for my cycling club. We pre book a table. 😉

I missed the music night but will catch it next time! Food was great, looking forward to another schnitzel soon too.

This was our third time visiting Scotland, and it's the first time we have eaten so well here. The food was truly delicious and beautifully presented. I especially recommend the fried dishes : the batter is light and airy, which is quite rare and absolutely delightful ! The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. If we hadn’t been leaving the day after our meal, we would have gladly come back for more.

What a delightful discovery. A wonderful stopping point if/when touring the borders. We we’re meeting up with family and had a one night stay. Just wished we could have had extended it. Very comfortable room with a modern en-suite. Our family meal in the restaurant was loved by all. Excellent menu for both adults and kids. An extensive menu which was backed up by quality food and presentation. Cosy bar offering cask ales, wines and spirits to suit all. We had without doubt the best breakfast served in any establishment in the country. Again an extensive menu which could give you a different breakfast plate for at least a week. Our hosts were so warm and friendly and run a very well organised establishment. Highly recommend The Allanton Inn. We will certainly return for a much longer stay soon.

Great stop for a breakfast nap, food was great, service really good and we were blessed with sunshine in early April to sit outside. Well worth dropping in, also the cake selection looks amazing and may be perused before we leave!!

What a little gem! Was on holiday in the area and found this lovely place on google. Great friendly service, food cooked fresh and delicious. Clean and inviting. Highly recommend. Only wish we'd found it earlier.

Absolutely lovely time, and a big thanks to Karen @ the complex, a lovely lunch, with lots of TLC, and made the birthday lunch special. Followed by great kid’s entertainment with the animals & science show! Brilliant team, brilliant show, we will be back!! Thank you for going out your way to make us relaxed and happy!

Don’t be put off by the unprepossessing frontage and entryway (the building was formerly a cinema). Inside is a large, characterful dining room with a bar at one end, which is given a delightful ambience by lit candles on every table. What’s more, the menu offers a tempting selection of dishes which - in our experience - are expertly prepared and presented and absolutely delicious! The service was prompt, friendly and professional and the prices very reasonable for the calibre of the dining experience. A lucky find for us on a Bank Holiday Monday evening when many other restaurants were closed. So good that we returned for more the following evening. Highly recommended!

I stayed in the Green Tree Hotel on the 29th of April. I would 100% return there for any future trip to Peebles. I was warmly received by the manager who made me feel at ease in a swift fashion. The room was excellent (many thanks to the house keeping staff for their hard work), and the location pristine. I enjoyed a comfortable stay and had a superbe night of sleep. The breakfast was also delivered by the chef herself in the morning, which was delicious. I will also thank the bartender who helped me get back to my room as I was a little bit lost, on the night of the 29th. Great hotel.
