A must restaurant to visit. You'll not be disappointed.

I asked the server if it was ok to sit and have a coffee and do some work (on my laptop). Not sure why as a paying customer I felt I had to 'ask permission' to sit and work but there was something about her lukewarm 'welcome' ... I added to her I might have some lunch too. I was told in cold tones I could sit at the bench at the rear. I was checking out the sandwiches and salads in the cabinet before I sat down when I overheard the two servers bitching about me; 'Not having her sitting here all day' clearly referring to ME and my plan to do a bit of work over my coffee!! Unbelievable behaviour. The woman's style was to bark at every customer who came in; a very basic type of waitress - no warmth, no personality. I thought maybe that's all that's on offer in Peebles. The room was as freezing as the welcome. I left and decided to go to the Tontine hotel for some lunch. Totally different - efficient warm service, and the room was warm, and great food.

My partner and I chose The Green Tree Hotel restaurant for dinner on Friday Feb 14th 2025, as they had a special Valentines Day Menu. We were disappointed in its choice so opted for their regular menu. I ordered a burger with bacon and cheese. The burger was DEFINITELY shop-bought and the bacon, hard. My partner's chicken curry had raisins in it, a throwback to the '70's I think. Furthermore, the lighting was WAY too bright for a romantic Valentines Day setting. WHAT a disappointment!

I missed the music night but will catch it next time! Food was great, looking forward to another schnitzel soon too.

Go here now and again and food is always amazing and service is great and with a smile.

Sadly, when we got here it has been closed permanently. We really enjoyed our many meals here. It always seemed busy and the food was so different, varied and tasty. I hope that some other good restaurant will open here.

Have been many times to Burts. Had a lovely experience. Great food, discrete service. Knowledgable staff. Christmas menu offer good value for money.

We had the most fabulous breakfast here. Three generations with varied selections, the full breakfast, eggs Royal & Benedict, porridge and kids breakfast all cooked to perfection and in a very prompt and efficient manner. Service was good and the atmosphere and décor was lovely.

I arrived on my own with my dog. You have to order inside but dogs aren’t allowed inside. It was quite busy but the waiting staff asked if I was alone and said they’d be happy to come and take my order at the table. They came quickly, took my order and brought it out really promptly. The crab sandwich was lush. I had a choice of white wine, and the Sauvignon Blanc was delicious. They were so chatty and lovely. They were happy for me to pay when I left and I’ll definitely be returning.

Louise cooked dinner for eight of us at the Five Turrets in Selkirk. It was a family celebration and as we were having drinks and nibbles Louise arrived with minimal disruption. Louise cooked, served us at the table and then cleared away leaving the kitchen space perfectly clean and tidy. The food was amazing! The Beef Wellington cooked to perfection. The experience for us was wonderful. Restaurant quality food in a relaxed 'home' setting. Thank you Louise and thanks to the Five Turrets for the recommendation.

Food and service excellent but despite booking over the phone through messenger, our table had not been reserved and it wasn't possible to speak to a person directly over the phone at The Salmon Inn.
