We didn’t stay at Scoutscroft but we ate here most nights of our holiday. We found the food really good, well presented and cooked and really good value for money. The staff were lovely, really friendly and helpful. We would definitely visit again if we are back in the area.

Went for evening meal. Only us in dining Room - no atmosphere. But looks good. Menu pretty varied- typical pub food. Mushrooms bit too crunchy as starter. Scampi and chips ok. Macaroni very bland. Service ok but had to ask for cutlery etc. Nothing special just ok.

Like other reviewers I feel sorry for the staff since verdant leisure have taken over everything is a lot worse including the food. What used to be a friendly restaurant with excellent service good value for money food has changed overnight. The menu is like something you would get out of a packet in a supermarket no wonder it was deserted and we were the only people there for an evening meal. My husband could have bounced his fried egg all the way back to the kitchen can you play ball with fried eggs?.I would have been better buying a packet of curry a takeaway from Morrison's as I'm sure that was what was served up. We couldn't even go next door to the Fish and Chip shop since verdant leisure chased them away. I feel sorry for the local people in St Abbs.

So looking forward to a Sunday dinner at the Croft Restaurant to discover No carvery! This was due to low numbers and completely understandable. However, at the same price of £8.95, we decided to stay for the Sunday Meal, advertised as Roast beef and seasonal vegetable with roast potatoes... a somewhat reduced plate of a Sunday dinner arrived and disappointed before trying. Beef and the limited carrots were very good, but how can you go wrong with carrots. Burnt Yorkshires not 1 but all, brussel sprouts (that were a vast majority of the veg) were soggy and certainly not seasonal, a small spoonful of peas and green beans with the stalks still on..Hence the disappointment.. The staff are however, tentative and thoughtful. We have been informed that the Carvery will return and so will we, but in the meantime we'll be skipping our Sunday dinners here. Hopefully next time the new chef won't burn the Yorkshire Puddings

The staff are lovely, very helpful and couldn't be more apologetic. However, they had new chefs after being closed during the management changeover, and they were a bit inexperienced. A rare steak came out like shoe leather it was so over cooked, and the chocolate brownie was actually charcoaled in the middle where it had been over-microwaved. There were 8 of us eating, and the other meals were OK, but wouldn't go back

Went on a Sunday for their carvery and at £8.95 is good value. 3 different meats plus all the trimmings. All very tasty but the ham was the best for me. We all had pudding but we were astonished to be told that there was NO custard in the restaurant( one mark deducted for that). Will be back though to try again.

Popped in for a quick bite to eat before the Ghost walk in Coldingham last night. Opted for the bucket of fish and was not disappointed. It was both delicious and beautifully presented. My hubby went for a burger which was so large he struggled to finish it though he did manage because he said it tasted so good. The kids went a bit off menu but the staff were happy to accommodate. All in all a delicious meal and we will definitely be back.

Great food using local produce. Everything fresh, tasty and homemade. The Nachos were amazing and the burgers are huge. Accommodated our party of 9 at short notice. Linda was a wonderful host, nothing was too much trouble. Great value for money. We visited several times over our week holiday and would recommend to anyone who is in this area.

My partner and I drove through from Belhaven Bay to Scoutscroft to have dinner at the restaurant on site (The Croft). We couldn't find a menu online but decided to take the gamble, and we're so glad we did! I had the Bucket of Fish...gorgeous haddock, scampi and prawns with chips, coleslaw and side salad for £11.95. My partner had butcher's sausage, mash, carrots, turnip and a lovely onion gravy for £8.95. Both excellent plates of food and brilliant service from the lovely Jordan. We visit this coast a lot and are delighted we've found another lovely option for dinner.

Booked in advance as 14 adults. Linda and staff courteously of picky eaters. We chose the set menu. Smoked salmon salad was to die for huge delicious salad, homemade coleslaw. The roast beef dinner, melt in the roast beef. For desserts choice of cheesecakes, crumble or angel cake was mouth watering. As a group we have adults with disabilities and the disabled toilet is huge and very clean. Thank You. We will be back.

Very impressed with a recent meal at the Croft Restaurant. The menu was diverse, well priced and the food was all home-cooked and delicious - the bucket of fish was a highlight (super crisp batter on a selection of haddock, king prawns, scampi, etc). The staff are excellent and went out of their way to cater for a gluten free diner. The chef even stayed late so that we could enjoy dessert. Top marks all round.

Whilst staying on site we decided to pop in for a carvery a few weeks ago. We were met by a very friendly lady who allowed us to sit anywhere we wanted instead of forcing us somewhere convenient for them. Drinks quickly arrived and we had a small wait for our empty plates to come. Once they did it was a sprint to the hotplate for some delicious homemade food. It was hot and very tasty, extra gravy was quickly brought over and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. It was nicely decorated inside and had a very relaxed atmosphere to it. Its great to know that Scoutscroft not only has a good bar, amazing chippy and now a wonderful restaurant. We will definitely be returning soon and recommending this place to all of our friends and family. Forgot to mention they even allowed us to take a plate of food back to our caravan for a friend who couldn't make it to the restaurant.

We haven't long moved permanently into the village and we have used this lovely place a few times since we had a wonderful experience whilst waiting on access to our new property. I wrote a review then, and simply wanted to say, our opinion has never changed. We take the visitors we have had staying and they are always pleased at every aspect. The food, as ever is marvellous! To anyone from Coldingham, remember that old adage, 'use it or lose it!'.

Just about to move permanently into the village and whilst sorting things out, my husband and I feel we struck lucky with this delightful restaurant. Not exactly in a location where you would usually expect to find amazing, beautifully cooked and presented food, but DO NOT be fooled. This restaurant, running a mere 6 weeks under the new owners would put many a more exclusive (aka expensive) restaurant to shame. The food, ranging from some old favourites to, for example, my dish of delightfully seasoned baked haddock with salad (tasty dressing), new potatoes and home made coleslaw. We were looked after attentively by Linda, whilst her daughter was the cook behind the mouthwatering offerings. The price was excellent, the surroundings delightful and once we move next month, I know where we will be on that first evening and many others to come. Wishing the new owners much luck. To anyone from Coldingham, remember that old adage, 'use it or lose it!'.

My parents have had a caravan there for 6 years and this is the first time I have dined there. We were 3 adults and 4 children, and would like to thank the staff in the restaurant for a delightful meal and excellent customer service received. As soon as we walked in from the warm welcome, to each delicious course we all left very full, and extremely impressed by the standard of food served to us. We would encourage you all to pop in for a meal, you will not be disappointed. Having been in most restaurants from coldingham to Berwick over the years this is our favourite. We had chicken and bacon Caesar salad with home made chips, bucket of fish with chips and coleslaw, peri peri chicken and rice, kids nugget and chips, gammon and chips, sausages and chips, followed by sticky toffee pudding, chocolate brownies, apple pie with custard and amazing home made banoffee pie. All cooked and presented to a high standard. The young waiting staff were very efficient. We will return. Thanks x

Go here now before everyone else figures out what amazing value this place is! The drive through the Scottish countryside is stunning (a half-hour drive from the railway stop at Galashiels). The owners have created something special that I simultaneously want to keep to myself and share with the world. Oxana's hosting (and baking and wine-pairing) skills mean you are welcomed with friendly service, clear explanations of the wine pairings and amazing, sweet treats. We have been twice - once in September and once in November - and from beginning to end, our glasses were never empty, and we were treated to amazing service. Now, the food is really something to talk about. Bryn is doing something special here. The food is fresh and innovative while remaining down to earth and approachable. A simple parsnip soup sent our table to heaven with its perfect spice. We had pork belly with the crunchiest crackling and lentils with vegetables that were flavoured so beautifully I couldn't tell what was in them. Blue cheese with truffled honey had all of us begging for more. Every bite is a delight, and some of it was items I wouldn't normally order. This food, this place, is truly something special, reflecting our Borders community and some of the best food in Scotland. Go now!

Stopped in for some lunch today. Friendly service with a good and varied choice of menu. Offers half portions of meals if more suitable. Brilliant value. Hot and cold options available. Felt like the teapot was bottomless, think it was 3 cupfuls in total!

Wonderful food and so nicely presented and the young man serving was so polite and professional. Only negative was the disappointing vegetarian options for my sister. Macaroni cheese is more suited to a cafe menu. But a lovely evening none the less.

Got to say, I’ve never had a bad meal or experience in here. The ham hock and lentil soup as amazing, the steak and mushroom pie was outstanding. It was packed with lean steak in a lush, beefy broth type gravy. Great fies, a la dente peas and everything was piping hot and cooked to order. Even the plates were warm, which I always appreciate. The staff were great and the owner is a real friendly guy. If yer heading North or South on the A68, make sure this is yer pit stop, even for a coffee and cake. Made me smile today whilst I was eating, it was that good. It looks like a greasy spoon if you pass it on the road, but it’s not! It’s on a par with very good pub grub, and it’s really clean inside, as is the kitchen which I passed on the way to use the bathroom.
