A terrific meal from a really creative and exciting menu. Choosing a starter from the menu was so difficult - they all sounded wonderful - and choosing a main course was just as hard. We both had mussels to start - in a wonderful creamy sauce. French-style sauces are something the chef does really well, like the one on my wife's main course of beef fillet strips. I had a half lobster smothered in garlic butter. My crème brulée for dessert was perfect, freshly made and beautifully presented. We were on a day trip from Ayr. I wish that Ayr had a restaurant of this quality. One quibble . . . fine dining of this quality deserves cloth napkins.

I moved to the area 23 yrs ago and have heard so much about this place but could never find the time to go...well I missed nothing. The meal was mediocre with one small side dish of frozen vegetables between two of us to accompany the 4 roast potatoes and 2 slices of processed turkey. The service was slow and at one point because we were shoved into a corner, we were forgotten about until a member of staff came to lay other tables. Greatly disappointed . Highlight of the night was the Christmas procession by the local farming community now that was amazing

We had the hotel breakfast as we were actually on our way to Cairnryan for the ferry. The breakfast was typical Scottish food served and cooked just fine. The hotel experience was very nice with all staff most helpful. One thing to note is that there is no taxi service on Sunday morning before 8:00 a.m. so if you have an early ferry there is no way to get there without a car. Later in the morning there is a bus service to the port area. The port area is about 15 minutes away by bus.

Myself and two friends decided to pop in here for breakfast one morning 2 of us had the big breakfasts and the other had a breakfast roll. The big breakfasts were very large. I personally wasn't keen on the link sausage but that's just personal preference my friend liked there's everything els was exelent. There condaments were in individual sashets and the tomato ketchup wasn't nice all 3 of us agreed on that. The service was exelent. We were handed menus as soon as we sat down. Once we placed our order the drinks arived quickly and our food not long behind it. All in all very good experience just avoid the ketchup

The best food for miles around and definitely worth the trip. Came to see family and stopped for dinner. Food is absolutely amazing, so fresh, locally sourced and in season. The lamb roast dinner was superb, not a frozen roast potato or Yorkshire pudding in sight. The Highland chicken was delicious and the peppercorn sauce bloody amazing. Finished off with sticky toffee pudding and custard and we weren't disappointed! Staff so helpful and friendly. Lovely renovation too.
