The best restaurants serving British food in Inverness Central Highland Highlands and Islands

The food here is incredible. We popped in for something to eat while we waited for our laundry to finish at the Laundrette nearby. We had the chicken gyro bowl. It was delicious and it was a generous portion (go hungry!). Great prices. Friendly people. Amazing food. We also took a slice of cheesecake for later. It was banoffee and was maybe the best cheesecake we ever had.

Small venue with a huge impact and friendly staff. The seafood menu is great, the cocktail menu impressive, but the sticky toffee pudding is top notch and should not be missed. Best sticky in Scotland.

Whow! Highly recommend. Staff friendly and offer a warm welcome. Coeliac friendly and have many gluten free options. Little gift shop too.

The Innes bar may be very out of the way, but it's certainly worth going out your way for, the food in here is absolutely incredible. On our table we had multiple burgers, all got glowing reviews and they looked incredible. Mac n cheese was ordered and again, fantastic delivery. Fish and chips scored great, I personally had the home made chicken, bacon and leek pie, and it did not in any way disappoint, fantastic presentation and the flavours were out of this world. Cannot recommend the Innes bar well enough. The staff get rushed off their feet and forget things sometimes but since they were catering to a larger table I cannot hold that against them. If you are looking for a cheerful high quality and reasonably priced meal I cannot recommend the Innes bar enough.

Wide assortment of books from all eras. It's very laissez-faire in terms of service: you can see if you can find what you want on your own because the staff can't really help you as they don't know their assortment that well. The interior is quite nice, although there are no chairs so one can get quite tired standing.

We have dined in many places in Inverness, mainly Mustard Seed, Rockpool, and Contrast, yet for some reason, we never tried this place until now. Maybe it’s the slightly hidden location or the entrance that could easily be mistaken for the pub next door. It doesn’t offer scenic views or convenient parking, but none of that matters once you step inside. The warm service and incredible food instantly transport you to a place where only the dining experience counts. I can’t imagine the typical Inverness snob coming here for lunch—it doesn’t have an expensive, overly designed interior. Instead, it offers simplicity and a welcoming, family-like atmosphere. We had an amazing family dinner here. We were lucky to get a table, as they were turning people away! The dishes arrived piping hot, and everything was absolutely delicious. What struck me the most was the fantastic variety on the menu—I genuinely struggled to choose because everything sounded so tempting. Prices are reasonable, and a reservation is a must. Don’t be put off by any 1-star or 2-star reviews—try it for yourself!

My usual place to go for a nice Cullen skink (best one in town!) with a side of chips. Always like the atmosphere and food here :)

Great food at a great price friendly staff and so dog friendly, in a great location next to the canal for nice long walk with the dogs, I can recommend highly.

I was travelling Scotland & it's islands for months & in Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides, (between travelling the islands of Harris and Lewis & North & South Uist & Eriskay) I met a man who highly recommended that when in Inverness, Hootenanny is pretty much a must try experience for Scottish music and dancing so after that when I was visiting in Inverness for sometime, I did go in there on a Friday night & then subsequently as a result, Saturday + more nights in June & July & met some very friendly local folk who who embraced me into their lives & added massively to the rest of my tour of Inverness, Loch Ness, Mount Ben Nevis, Fort William, Fort Augustus, Glen Coe, Applecross, Tomintoul, Aviemore, the Cairngorms, Cullen, ... the whole of Scotland, the NC North Coast 500 miles route, Beauly, Bora, Wick, John O'Groats, Thurso, Orkney and the Shetland Islands, Lairg, Durness, Scourie, Ardvreck Castle, Achiltibuie & The Summer Isles + more of its islands of Mull, Tobermory, Iona, Staffa, Isle of Aran, Oban, Mull of Kintyre, Cambletown, Loch Lomond, Dumbarton, Glasgow, Paisley, Moffat, ... making more rich & magnificent memories. Tratando de encontrar un lugar para comer un martes de invierno encontramos que varios de los restaurantes en el top 5 de Tripadvisor estaban cerrados o necesitaban aviso de 24 horas ! ! Decidimos probar Café 1 que no estaba en los primeros listados, y nos encantó. La comida era excelente y el servicio era muy atento. Los entrantes de vieira y vientre de cerdo eran deliciosos y las principales de filete y pez monje y mejillones en salsa de coco eran excelentes, y las sucias papas fritas sexy que añadimos eran simplemente más moradas. Incluso cantaron feliz cumpleaños y entregaron helados con una vela encima. Sin duda volveremos.

Excelente Domingo Asado - fantástico servicio del personal que fue extremadamente servicial cuando llegamos sin una reserva. Muy buena relación calidad-precio (en comparación con otros lugares que hemos comido recientemente). Impresionado por cómo se servía la comida en una tabla con carne de res y Yorkshire en un tazón con verduras, salsa extra, rábano picante en otros platos. Los postres eran deliciosos también!

Este es un restaurante muy ocupado con mucha gente local almorzando, lo que siempre es una buena señal. El menú tiene una excelente selección de platos. Mi patata chaqueta era buena y el otro plato vegetariano era excelente. Los precios son muy justos y el servicio rápido y servicial. Sin duda volveríamos aquí para un excelente almuerzo casual.

A cosy atmosphere, superb service and one of the best meals I have had out in quite some time. Variety of choice is of top quality.

All the sandwiches and the steak pie were excellent. All breads are made fresh daily and the sweets are delicious. Limited seating but we did eat lunch inside.

Paré en este pub para experimentar una comida escocesa. Teníamos el pastel de pollo, ¡tan bueno! Nuestro camarero fue encantador, ¡incluso buscó una receta para una sopa tradicional escocesa para mí! ¡Y me dijo dónde conseguir tabletas escocesas!
