Cafe 1 in Highland

Tratando de encontrar un lugar para comer un martes de invierno encontramos que varios de los restaurantes en el top 5 de Tripadvisor estaban cerrados o necesitaban aviso de 24 horas ! ! Decidimos probar Café 1 que no estaba en los primeros listados, y nos encantó. La comida era excelente y el servicio era muy atento. Los entrantes de vieira y vientre de cerdo eran deliciosos y las principales de filete y pez monje y mejillones en salsa de coco eran excelentes, y las sucias papas fritas sexy que añadimos eran simplemente más moradas. Incluso cantaron feliz cumpleaños y entregaron helados con una vela encima. Sin duda volveremos.

Llevo años aquí y nunca me decepciona. Fue el pasado viernes por la tarde cuando tuvimos el mal tiempo el lugar era tan acogedor y acogedor. El servicio era de 5 estrellas 🌟 Dean y Rea eran increíbles que no podrían haber hecho lo suficiente para usted. Gracias por cuidarnos. El ambiente era súper relajante y nunca se sintió apresurado por la puerta como hacen algunos restaurantes. Vinimos para una cena de cumpleaños con amigos. El menú tenía excelentes opciones - era difícil elegir. Fantástica comida y servicio en un ambiente muy agradable. La tabla de queso era excelente - proporción perfecta de galletas a queso, que a menudo no es el caso en otros lugares. Viajamos para venir aquí y esperamos volver.

Asistí a nuestro almuerzo de Navidad reservado, pero no pude pedir nada del menú de Navidad. Inicialmente me informaron que cualquier plato podía ser hecho libre de gluten - y lácteos. Después de hacer mi pedido, me dijeron que mis platos solicitados no estaban disponibles y me ofrecieron dos alternativas. La camarera regresó más tarde y ofreció una de las opciones alternativas junto con una opción basada en la planta. Le expliqué que el gluten -libre y vegetal- no es lo mismo, y un camarero diferente luego proporcionó otra opción. Aunque finalmente hice mi pedido, me decepcionó la experiencia, especialmente dado el alto estima que este restaurante suele tener. El personal era muy amable y el servicio de mesa era genial. Food was okay however to be charged an extra £3.75 for the gravy on a roast turkey dinner is not what I was expecting.!!!!!!!!! Will not be back. RIP OF inverness indeed

Encantador entorno y el personal, gran comida. La única queja leve es que el personal era demasiado atento, nos preguntaron dos veces en un minuto si nuestra comida estaba bien. Recargar vino y agua se volvió un poco abrumador. La gran comida compensó esta pequeña queja.

An absolute pleasure from start to finish. Greeted with lovely friendly welcome by cheerful staff. Ordered the fillet steaks wee birthday treat. Superb melt in the mouth followed by lovely desserts. Water topped up without being asked. Friendly staff asking if everything was ok through out. Could not fault! We will definitely be back thank you to the chef and all the hard working staff x

We had a lovely afternoon at Cafe 1. Atmosphere was relaxing, staff were great and so friendly and the food was amazing. It is our preferred restaurant for a ‘ladies who lunch’ event. If you enjoy great quality food cooked to perfection then this is for you. We had been visiting the Highlands and surviving on fast food. We asked local for a recommendation for a good restaurant and he came up Trumps with this one. I had the Scallops followed by lamb both delicious my wife had the salmon which she rarely orders and loved it. We shared a huge slab of Tiramisu for afters. All wahed down with a glass of vino each. Lovely friendly professional staff the energy in the room reminded me a bit of the TV series Bear (in a good way)

We had a horrible meal here last night. It started with the brusque attitude of the owner/manager, who rather than welcoming us challenged us with “are you reserved?” We had an uneasy feeling from the outset, and it didn’t get better. The staff of young women meant well, but the service was amateurish at best. My wife and I were repeatedly called ‘guys’, the glassware wasn’t clean, and one server handed us our goblets of G&T with a claw like grip over the tops of the glasses, rather than holding the stem…quite unsanitary! We decided to order just main courses and skedaddle because we just didn’t feel comfortable there. My wife ordered a pasta dish with chanterelles, and I ordered “wok seared spicy vegetables with udon” and added king prawns as a protein. Her pasta was ‘okay’ according to her, though with only a few tiny chanterelles. My dish basically was a high school cafeteria’s version of Chinese food. It was barely spicy, the sauce tasted like teriyaki sauce poured from a bottle and the udon noodles were so overcooked that some of them fell apart when I lifted my fork. The vegetables were mostly red, yellow and green peppers, with an occasional appearance of onion and zucchini. It was abysmal. The G&Ts were good, as was the bottle of Oregon Pinot Blanc, but they didn’t save the dinner. Do NOT go there!

Excellent experience from start to finish. Waiting staff very friendly and attentive and the owner, Norman does a fantastic job of making you feel welcome and looked after. Delicious food across the menu, highly recommended.

We booked for lunch after seeing the recent reviews. We were really impressed by the ambiance, staff and food. The menu had great choices and the food, in just the right size of portions, was well cooked, presented and absolutely delicious. Ordering form the Early Bird / Lunchtime menu, my husband had the pate which he said was one of best he’d tasted and I had the courgette salad which was lovely light and fresh. For mains we both had the Venison and Pork meatballs which were tasty with a hint of chili. We had visited as we were looking for somewhere for a special dinner later in the month and immediately knew that we had found the right place. The staff are attentive and friendly and prices really reasonable. Being located on Castle Street it is a little bit of a hidden gem but one we will be revisiting.

Very many thanks to Norman and all the staff at Cafe 1 for looking after us so well last Saturday evening. The restaurant was very busy so we had an earlier than normal dinner starting at 5:45. The atmosphere was great from the outset however. The young front of house team were excellent. Our table allowed a view to the kitchen pass and I enjoyed watching the, again very young, brigade in action. I was delighted to learn later that there is a strategy in place to develop young chefs year on year. Bravo. The food was excellent, bread with dipping oils, scallops and oysters to start. Mains included sirloin steak, chicken with couscous and a brilliant lamb dish. A chocolate delice and a panacotta completed our dinner. Wine and drinks well priced. A bottle of malbec and a glass of sauternes were highlights. From my limited experience Inverness appears to have a thriving restaurant scene and Cafe 1 comes very highly recommended as part of it.

My husband and I visited this wonderful restaurant last Saturday what can I say other than its our favourite restaurant and we visit every time we are in Inverness. The proprietor Norman makes you feel welcome and the ambiance is so relaxed even when every table is booked the professionalism of the waiting staff and the calibre of food produced from the kitchen staff is second to none its an absolute delight to visit.Delicious ,well done and I would highly recommend you pay Cafe One a visit you won't be disappointed.

Lovely restaurant in Inverness. The food was amazing. I ordered the Filet and it was so very tender and full of flavor. My husband got the for not having the scottish word - Amazing fish sticks/. the dessert cheesecake was nothing I had ever had before and was very delicious. the service was top notch and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience in this restaurant

We had a fantastic family evening at Cafe1, the food was supreme and the service was faultless, that perfect balance of friendly and welcoming, but efficient and professional. I had the beef medallions served with chanterelle mushrooms, and a pepper corn sauce from the daily specials menu. A lucky choice was to accompany that with their Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon, the spicyness of both made for a brilliant combination. Highly recommended if you want to treat yourself to high quality food, wine and service.

Fabulous restaurant & bar tucked behind Inverness Castle. Really welcoming friendly staff, great service and amazing food. Nice buzz inside, lively but good atmosphere. Food was delicious, the scallops were perfect! Great selection of dishes. 10/10 would definitely return!

I always try to be kind, especially in my comments on Trip Advisor. But this evening, objectivity led me to be very critical. We ordered a soup of the day with local chanterelles. We were expecting a delicate velouté. Nothing of the sort! Without any warning, we had the spiciest soup we have ever had, either in India or in Africa. The wait staff, who were very pleasant and efficient, looked embarrassed and made no apologies. Meanwhile, the owner was going from table to table offering wine to the customers. Unfortunately, he didn't pass by ours, the only one in the room. The sirloin steak and its accompaniment were very good, although I would suggest using less balsamic vinegar which ends up altering the taste of the Black Angus. A real disappointment despite the smiles on the faces of the wait staff. You'd expect something much better for £86.

From the outside, this restaurant is very unassuming. My husband and I booked for dinner. There was only one 5.30 pm reservation available. We had scallops wrapped in pancetta with pea purée and black pudding to start and this was superbly cooked. We both then had the special of fillet steak medallions with parsnip purée, asparagus, kale, chanterelle mushrooms, potato, black pudding crumb and peppercorn sauce. When it arrived, far from being small medallions of steak, there were basically two fillet steaks! We ordered medium cooked and the steak was probably one of the best steaks we have ever eaten and the accompaniments were also well cooked. For desert, we ordered the cranachan cheesecake - and again this was fabulous! The service was perfect, they were polite, watchful of customers needs, discrete and worked well as a team. We honestly could not fault our evening spent here at all. Booking absolutely necessary.

Absolutely amazing!! Felt like I was in heaven after my meals. The staff were ALL fantastic and really appreciated when they all checked in to make sure everything was okay when in reality it was perfect! The price was just right for the quality and service of the restaurant. We were seated under starlights which was very cute and we loved the attention to detail of the restaurant. Couldn't have been happier. Food arrived very promptly after ordering and just the right amount of time in between our starters and mains. The night was lush. Couldn't recommend enough, can't wait to return soon!!

Yet again another incredible visit. From being welcomed by the owner, to the first class service from the waiting staff, the speediness of the orders coming out and the absolute top notch quality of locally sourced food….just an incredible visit from start to finish as always.
