The Bakery in Highland

All the sandwiches and the steak pie were excellent. All breads are made fresh daily and the sweets are delicious. Limited seating but we did eat lunch inside.

Nipped in this morning for some food on a day trip to Wick. Had a lovely steak pie and egg salad sandwich. Their empire biscuits are to die for and I have to say are the best I’ve ever tasted. Well worth the visit.

We were fortunate to visit The Bakery recently. The sour dough bread and ciabatta rolls were very fresh, The rolls are large and the ample fillings were delicious, they were very reasonable priced and the quality was outstanding. Coffee was lovely and hot. The shop has a fantastic selection of breads, rolls, pastries, cakes along with locally sourced jams chutneys and other produce. It is definitely worth a visit. We will be visiting again for sure

First time I have used this placed as opposed to Harry Gows and main chains. Food is really really good. Bread was fresh and light and the sandwiches were great, deserts were just as good. Would recommend.

National newspapers frequently run articles about the best UK bakeries. Well, I am a bread NUT and I reckon The Bakery in Inverness has to be right up there with the very best. Their freshly made every day sourdough bread is absolutely delicious. It's crusty on the outside with this incredibly soft, chewy, tangy, delicious sourdough inside. One of the best sourdough loaves I've ever tasted anywhere. It really is that good. Try their seeded sourdough and you'll be smitten too. Their home made croissants, pain au raisins and cakes are sensational too, a world apart from the warmed up factory made junk served up in other bakeries. Here in the Highlands we are blessed to have a bakery of real excellence. It's called The Bakery and it's right here in Tumnahurich Street Inverness.

Overnight stay nearby prior to taking a tour to the Outer Hebrides. My b and b didn’t do breakfast… and many others don’t in time to join such tours. No problem… these guys have have a great selection of excellent sandwiches, pastries, coffee and stuff from 6:00 am and just a couple of minutes walk from the Cathedral pick up used by most tour operators. I had a good bacon sandwich… which, bizarrely, I’m remembering as much for the quality of the freshly baked bread as I am for the bacon. That, from a confirmed a bacon aficionado, is quite a statement. I didn’t try the pastries but they looked awesome. Coffee was good and strong too! Service was cheerful, friendly and helpful… at 7:00 am, awesome!

I previously had The Bakery individual little lemon sponges and carrot cakes bought from another venue and absolutely loved them. This venue no longer sells them so I decided to visit The Bakery to buy some. However I don’t know what they’ve done to them but they taste completely different. Sponge was greasy and icing on the top grainy and sugary. Very disappointing. Also felt the price for two little cakes and two scones a bit steep at almost £8. I went out of my way to visit the shop, but extremely unlikely that I’ll go back.

Extortionate prices. £4.70 for a small millionaire shortbread and a thin chelsea bun to take away. Costs haven't gone up nearly enough to justify these prices!

The Bakery was just up the road from our accommodation (Art House Apartments—fab!) and ideal for a quick breakfast—sausage roll/ croissant/scone and cappuccino. Everything was fresh and tasty. We snagged seats at the window counter and enjoyed seeing locals come in for bread or their own breakfasts.

Sehr schöne und gute Bäckerei. Haben eine große Auswahl an Brot und Brötchen sowie süßen Speisen. Wir haben uns für Ausflüge Brötchen hier geholt und sie dann selber belegt. Eine klare Empfehlung.

Wonderful fresh pastry, made on the spot. Friendly people and good coffee. Great start of the day. Warmly recommended. Wish we had one of these at home!

Very chaotic service, food nice but service was a let down. Numerous people asking what we had, I was confused when I left. My head was spinning.

Broodjes kun je laten beleggen, oogt vers, brood wordt daar gebakken. Broodje met chicken mayo is erg lekker. Soort saucijzenbroodje gehaald, die was matig/niet aan te bevelen (droog en vettig). Tevens mogelijk om gebakjes te halen, zien er goed uit maar niet zelf geprobeerd. Je kunt om de hoek betaald parkeren.

Bakery favolosa! È stata il nostro punto fermo per quasi tutte le colazioni della nostra vacanza. Prodotti freschissimi, appena sfornati , caldi caldi. Il posto è piccolino, ma sempre pieno e offre una gran scelta di prodotti, che vanno dal dolce al salato. I croissant alla mandorla sono a due poco eccezionali! Ma la cosa che mi ha entusiasmata di più è stata la loro Apple pie…si scioglieva letteralmente in bocca!! Credo sia la migliore che abbia mai mangiato. Andateci!!

It's hard to review somewhere that is teetering on being perfect but after much deliberation I've found a flaw, albeit a personal one a flaw none the less, brace yersels for it after the compliments, excellent food, savoury and sweet, clean, prices are you get what you pay for modest, happy atmosphere created by the happy friendly polite staff, now then, I haven't been working in town for a while so don't know when this happened but what in the name of elvis has gone on with the tastiest tattie pie Inverness nay the Highlands has ever produced!!? Raging, I demand an immediate response from whoever's made this ridiculous decision, I await on your word, thank you.

This Bakery is amazing. The bread is so fresh and the steak pies the best I’ve tasted in years - takes me back many years to when I worked at Strachan’s Bakery in Tain, a small family run bakery which excelled on quality and taste. I highly recommend supporting this local business.

The best sourdough bread and rolls around! Always fresh and lasts. Also very filling! The cakes and pies are also very nice.

Estaba buscando una buena pastelería en Inverness. Caminamos hasta la panadería desde nuestro hotel. Tuvimos un excelente danés y una excelente tarta de fresa. La corteza quebrada de la tarta era perfecta. El danés se terminó a la perfección, un gran equilibrio de sabores. Vale la pena hacer una escapada. Creo que es quizás la mejor panadería que he visitado en las Highlands.

The sourdough rolls are to die for! The baking is beautiful and always so fresh! And the bread and rolls are a must!

Called in for a delicious snack. We’ve been here before so as soon as we got to Inverness we knew where to go. Next time we are here we will surely call in again.

First time visit to this shop and it did not disappoint. Recently returned to Inverness from south where I was spoilt for choice with Artisan Bakers. I can say that this one had even better quality bread than I expected. Sourdough, morning rolls and sausage rolls were all great. Early opening time suits me too. I will be a regular. Well done.

Lovely independent Bakery. The quality of the products is of the highest standard and never fails to impress. Inverness has well established bakers that are more widely known, but do not confuse their offerings with the artisan products offered here by Alan and his team. The Bakery is everything an independent craft bakery should be - just dont leave it too late in the morning to visit or you'll miss the Pain au Chocolat!

Establecer el estándar de cómo debería ser una panadería local.Qué estimulante es conseguir una pequeña empresa que lo consiga absolutamente: para prosperar necesita proporcionar algo diferente, algo de alta calidad y que lo separe de la competencia. sí, puede obtener un emparedado más barato (aunque no mucho más barato) en el supermercado PERO ¿está recién preparado con pan horneado en las instalaciones? ¿Los ingredientes se ven y saben bien? Seguiré volviendo a The Bakery ya que ofrecen esa calidad. También me gusta cómo su embalaje es todo papel, no plástico.Si hubo una crítica, es solo que la cola puede acumularse un poco a la hora del almuerzo, pero vale la pena esperar.

I used to visit this place very regularly but since the extention it has become disjointed , the way the entrance and counter is laid out , before you had a very good view of produce but now not so . To say it was good value was trrue but oh so not now , it seems that the prices have risen in order to pay for the extention absolutely not worth going .

We just stopped in a road trip to pickup a quick breakfast with no expectations. Instead of that, I’ve eaten one of the best pain au chocolat for a long time, better than most of Parisian places (and I’ French!)... the scone was also absolutely delicious and the shop girl was making a latte with science, measuring each ingredient’s quantity with a balance to get the perfect mix. It was definitely worth the stop !!

Llegué a tomar un refrigerio el otro día ya que me estaba quedando en un be & be cercano y no había reservado el desayuno. Me senté en un asiento junto a la ventana y tomé un faro con té, que estaba muy bueno. Puedes ver a los panaderos trabajando duro en la tienda, no pude resistir que me quitaran una empanada de manzana al salir, también fue muy bueno.Esta panadería tiene la variedad más increíble de pan fresco que he visto en Escocia. Regresé a la tarde siguiente para comprar un gran pan de masa madre para llevar a casa a Oban. ¡El mejor pan de masa madre que he probado en cualquier parte del mundo! Sinceramente, estoy pensando en volver a Inverness pronto para probar más pan de "The Bakery". ! !

Compro mi pan y otras golosinas aquí regularmente. Ahora también ofrecen un espacio para sentarse y disfrutar de la deliciosa comida y café. Los mejores panes de masa fermentada, deliciosas tartas y pasteles. También ofrecemos algunos otros productos. Servicio super amable. Genial para ver una panadería / tienda local para hacerlo bien.

We like good bread, and it’s so hard to find! But this bakery hits the spot. Really good quality sourdough. It’s just out of town and across the River from the town centre. Well worth the short walk down to tis store.

Do yourself a favor and get a coronation chicken sandwich with salad. Delicious! I wish we were able to spend more time in Inverness so I could have tried more of what they had to offer!

I had a walk to the bakery from Torvean Caravan Park where we were staying. The shop is quite small and it was busy.

Absolutely love this place! Baked goods are amazing, fresh and lots of quality variety. We only get bread from here now. Cakes etc are also sooo good. Nice staff, awesome food, fair prices. My favourite bakery in Inverness, definitely worth a visit but get there early because things sell fast.

We had a hard time finding a lactose free cake in Inverness. The people at The Bakery were very responsive and made us a larger version of their lemon cake which was just perfect

I visit this bakery often, the food both sweet and savoury is of highest quality, sandwiches are freshly made to order with a fantastic selection of different rolls/breads/baguettes. The cakes are amazing, so many different types unlike other bakeries in town, the brownies and iced pan au raisin are my absolute favourite. They also have a wee fridge with black pudding, local bacon and local eggs for sale, it’s good to have such good quality local produce on sale, perfect addition to put on one of the lovely rolls. It’s a bit of a nightmare to get parked, there are 2 car parking spaces to the left of the shop which is great but as the shops so popular, these are normally taken. My handy tip and what I always do now, is park on Ardross Street which is diagonally across the main road from the entrance, it is pay and display, but you can actually just park, go to the machine and instead of putting any money in, just press the green button and it gives you a ticket for 15 minutes free parking! The road is a busy one to cross, but means you aren’t rushing or worrying about getting a parking ticket outside on the double yellow lines. Well worth it though, it’s definitely my favourite bakery in Inverness.

The Bakery war unsere Rettung für die ersten Radetappen auf unserer Tour durch Schottland - das Vollkornbrot war köstlich und so haltbar wie bestes Bio-Sauerteigbrot in Deutschland, und das will schon was heißen. :-)

Decided to stop here for a breakfast on the go. The shop is not that big, they have maybe 2 chairs but the selection of rolls and pies are plenty and they have pretty decent coffee. So my suggestion would be to buy your breakfast or lunch here and enjoy it somewhere at a picknick spot at Loch Ness.

We stopped there twice to get some food for on the road and the selection was magnificent. Everything we ate was delicious and it's so affordable!

Here is a proper bakery.The array of breads , cakes , pies etc is astonishing . So popular the only draw back is you will always find a que .

È stato il nostro punto di riferimento per i pranzi al sacco. I dolci ci sono piaciuti tantissimo: abbiamo provato gli scones integrali con frutta secca (ottimi), il caramel slice e la chocolate pie. Hanno anche una macchina per il caffè to go. Hanno diverse pies con ripieni diversi e ne abbiamo provate tre (potato, scotch pie e steak pie). Mangiate fredde non ci sono piaciute molto, forse non siamo abituati a questa specialità. Prezzi convenienti.

We were having friends for an early evening supper having purchased some of their bread I fancied a sourdough loaf which would be on the table along with the Salmon etc well I wish we bought two it was well received our friends really enjoyed it.

Stop here for lunch quite often. Always have plenty of freshly baked cakes, pies, bread etc.

Ideal for those travellers who like to make their own lunch. The morning rolls are delicious and as for their wholemeal scones OMG.

Three words - Black Pudding Pie! Would recommend anyone to pop in for a visit, you won't regret it! Such a cosy welcoming little bakery in Inverness, where you can see the goods being made right there on the premises! There is too much to choose from so you will need to go time and time again! Too many to mention - take a look for yourself! Enjoy!

Went in for a roll for my lunch -guy served me, girl asked if I wanted salad (i said yes)she charged me. Guy handed me roll in a bag and I asked if there was salad on it as well - yes, he said. Got to office and no salad on the roll.

お店で焼いたパンを売っている、いわゆる昔ながらのパン屋さんといった趣です。ガラスケースや金属ラックがレトロな雰囲気。パンと紙パックの飲料だけ売っており、イートインコーナーなどはありませんでした。

Brilliant Bakery. You will see queues out the door regularly so that is an indication how good the produce is. The Sourdough is highly recommended. They serve good coffees also.

Wow, staying in Fortrose bay campsite and the bakery opens at 7.30 for all your needs! The toffee apple cake is to die for! We had to have one most days ! Also had croissants, bread and shortbread all really lovely quality and staff lovely too!

Popped in for a bacon roll and had to have one of the best looking strawberry tarts I have seen in a long time. Did not disappoint.....AMAZING! huge, beautiful strawberry sauce and about 5 strawberries on top of lovely cream and pastry. At £1.40 an absolute bargain

This bakery was across the street from Corran Guest House where we stayed, and provided us with the most delicious sandwiches, and strawberry flans. A must to visit and enjoy.

Often cycle to local baker for their bread and rolls....excellent strawberry tarts and if necessary pain au raisin....cannot go everyday or weight gain too high

This bakery was right across the street from Ardross Guesthouse where we were staying. It is tiny and has no real seating, but had an excellent selection of bread, pastries, sausage rolls, pies, etc at reasonable prices.

Amazing coffee and brilliant pastries.Recommend a visit here for your breakfast. Better than anything in London and all home cooked. The bread looked beautiful. Not sure about Empire biscuits but they are maybe a Scottish idea.

Ate breakfast here everyday while in Inverness. Also got pastries and bread to take with us for lunch. Everything was amazing! Good prices too! Super friendly.

Volete una ottima colazione senza andare nel solito bar o nella solita catena di caffè? Ecco qui un posticino (piccolissimo) con due (e sottolineo due) posti a sedere in cui bere un ottimo cappuccino e mangiare ottimi dolci appena sfornati. Si tratta di una panetteria/pasticceria che da la possibilità di appoggiarsi per gustare "al volo" i loro prodotti. Tutto molto casalingo, tutto molto tipico. Muffin spettacolari!
