The best restaurants serving British food in Inverness Central Highland Highlands and Islands

The food here is incredible. We popped in for something to eat while we waited for our laundry to finish at the Laundrette nearby. We had the chicken gyro bowl. It was delicious and it was a generous portion (go hungry!). Great prices. Friendly people. Amazing food. We also took a slice of cheesecake for later. It was banoffee and was maybe the best cheesecake we ever had.

WOW - Amazingly good! First class service and atmosphere in a warmly lit restaurant, where the staff are exceptional at making you feel welcome. The highlight of our trip!!! Lovely location by the riverside, the Winter frost on the trees made a romantic setting that could be compared to any European city for its romantic atmosphere. Food here was fabulous to look at, tasted fantastic and was an absolute joy to eat - ‘early bird special price’ on the oysters was a real treat, they were so delicious and everything was so beautifully presented. If you’ve not tried oysters before I’d encourage you to give them a try here - so many options. Our Cod & Hake dishes were perfectly cooked, photos show how beautiful the plates looked - We’ll definitely return. NB. Tips for the staff aren’t automatically added to the bill, but can only be left in cash - take cash! They deserve a tip, as the service is really exceptional!

Very kind people and cosy environment which made us feel warm and good. Travelled to see the loch ness views and found this incredible café. The soup made us feel at home and the food tasted good.

We were so excited to visit Leakey's, even before our trip to Scotland. Unfortunately the moment I walked in with my 3 children, I was met with a rude comment from the older man (presumably the owner) working behind the counter. "This is a bookshop, NOT a playground," he said in a gruff voice. I was taken by surprise because I mind my children very well and we had only just walked in. My children are homeschooled and I try to instill a deep love of books in them. Small readers grow up to be adult readers. Anyway, I told him that I was well aware and we went upstairs with my kids to look around. We ended up leaving after just 5 minutes because I really didn't feel right spending money there after that exchange and for some reason he decided to make yet ANOTHER unnecessary comment on our way out the door. "Not really an appropriate place for children, is it?" His tone was very unkind. My poor 6-year-old was in tears because he had been so excited and just didn't understand why he was so unwelcome. I do understand not disturbing shoppers and being mindful of your children but I really can't understand people who get upset for children just existing in a space. A very unpleasant experience.

Go-to treat on a workday! Always a choice between fish and chips or mac and cheese!

Compassionate. The wonderful Cafe Artysans sits, tucked away out of sight and captures return visitors with it's high standards across the board. However, what sets Cafe Artysans apart is their friendliness and MISSION to build people up. After listening to staff and watching their interactions I saw an excellent team dynamic, where they supported each-other tremendously, one staff member walking in was welcomed warmly and clearly very cared for by their peers, this extends to the customer and you can feel the warmth and trust in this clean and inviting setting. Staff are very friendly and will go above and beyond to accommodate you. The lady who served me (Jacky) was very friendly and offered some recommendations for sight-seeing around Inverness. Cafe Artysans stands out as much as a charity as it does a cafe, supporting young people into developing key practical skills and professional standards to prepare them for later life. A little gem of a cafe great food and friendly service

Este es un restaurante muy ocupado con mucha gente local almorzando, lo que siempre es una buena señal. El menú tiene una excelente selección de platos. Mi patata chaqueta era buena y el otro plato vegetariano era excelente. Los precios son muy justos y el servicio rápido y servicial. Sin duda volveríamos aquí para un excelente almuerzo casual.

Great wee pit stop to recharge tge batteries.

Tratando de encontrar un lugar para comer un martes de invierno encontramos que varios de los restaurantes en el top 5 de Tripadvisor estaban cerrados o necesitaban aviso de 24 horas ! ! Decidimos probar Café 1 que no estaba en los primeros listados, y nos encantó. La comida era excelente y el servicio era muy atento. Los entrantes de vieira y vientre de cerdo eran deliciosos y las principales de filete y pez monje y mejillones en salsa de coco eran excelentes, y las sucias papas fritas sexy que añadimos eran simplemente más moradas. Incluso cantaron feliz cumpleaños y entregaron helados con una vela encima. Sin duda volveremos.

Excellent Sunday Roast - fantastic service from staff who were extremely helpful when we arrived without a booking. Very good value for money (compared to other places we’ve eaten recently). Impressed by how meal was served on a board with beef and Yorkshire in a bowl with vegetables, extra gravy, horseradish in other dishes. Desserts were delicious too!

A cosy atmosphere, superb service and one of the best meals I have had out in quite some time. Variety of choice is of top quality.

All the sandwiches and the steak pie were excellent. All breads are made fresh daily and the sweets are delicious. Limited seating but we did eat lunch inside.

Paré en este pub para experimentar una comida escocesa. Teníamos el pastel de pollo, ¡tan bueno! Nuestro camarero fue encantador, ¡incluso buscó una receta para una sopa tradicional escocesa para mí! ¡Y me dijo dónde conseguir tabletas escocesas!
