Booking made for food and drinks for five people for Hogmanay on 3 December. Received email on 30 December checking that we would still be attending which was confirmed. Arrived to be told that the kitchen was closed - no explanation given. There was no one in the place - says it all. The Balencrieff next door were thankfully able to accommodate us. Give Urban Cocktail Kitchen a miss - I won't be back.

We had tea and a treat at Marks and Spencer’s Staff was very friendly the babychinos for our two little girls were free of charge the kids meals came with an extra piece of fruit and the ham and cheese toasty was cooled down a bit so they won’t burn themself what a great service - The food was fresh and delicious for a very reasonable price! Definitely check it out if you would like a quick snack

Ate here whilst staying the night. The menu was ok but would have liked to see some more regional dishes like Cullen Skink and Haggis. I had the haddock and chips and sticky toffee pudding for desert. It was all fine although the plate for the main was very small and there was too much coleslaw for my liking. The pudding was also supposed to come with cream or ice cream and they never asked me which I wanted. It came with neither, just lots of glacé cherries for some reason!!

I took my dog to this lovely garden centre last Saturday and popped in for a lovely coffee. My dog and I sat outside on the decked area . The coffee was good and the staff were friendly and helpful and a waitress kindly brought a coffee to my table. Delightful place and I will definitely return when next in the area.

The food is good here and it is a reliable local spot for brunch/lunch. Just visited but complained when we were served our smoothies in small, part-ful takeaway cups instead of a brimful large glass as usual. Both staff shrugged and one said "it's been like that for a year", while the other "we've lost a lot of glasses and that's how the boss serves it now". I get it, times are tough for small businesses but making the portions smaller and denying it is a bad look.

Over priced and food was under whelming definitely not worth the money. Staff clearing tables were trying hard to keep on top of things but were very obviously under staffed. Staff serving behind the counter were rude and insisting people pay by card as they had no change. If you can't accommodate people paying by cash put up a sign advising people before they choose their food. Would not use again.

Extremely Disappointing Experience at Costa Coffee I’ve always been a fan of Costa Coffee, but my most recent visit was truly unsettling. While I was in line, I witnessed Kelly, the manager, loudly yelling at one of the employees in front of customers. It was shocking to see such behavior, and it created a tense, uncomfortable atmosphere for everyone in the café. The employee seemed genuinely stressed, and it was clear they were doing their best to handle the busy rush. Watching Kelly publicly berate them felt completely unprofessional and unnecessary. It’s one thing to provide constructive feedback behind closed doors, but publicly humiliating your staff is unacceptable. This experience completely soured my visit, and I’m really disappointed in how things were handled. I won’t be returning anytime soon, and I sincerely hope Costa Coffee addresses this issue and ensures that their staff is treated with more respect. No one should have to endure that kind of treatment at work—especially not in front of customers.

After reading lovely reviews about the afternoon tea served at The Glasshouse, I booked the 'Scottish Afternoon Tea' for 2 as a treat for my daughter-in-law's 30th birthday for her and my son. As I was in Edinburgh the week before, I called in and paid for this in advance. Unfortunately, on the day, my daughter-in-law who was 32 weeks pregnant, was unwell and unable to travel to Edinburgh, so the booking had to be cancelled. I emailed the duty manager on 2 occasions to ask if a refund would be possible. If I hadn't prepaid there wouldn't have been an issue about a refund and the hotel would have simply had to acknowledged the cancellation, which I'm sure happens from time to time. I had an initial response from the duty manager saying he/she would look into it but on sending a second email a week later, I have yet to have either a response or a refund. I appreciate last minute cancellations must be annoying and costly for hotels but sometimes they are completely unavoidable. Top tip - don't pre-pay for services unless you have to!

I work in Musselburgh so I often go to costa for coffee. Went today after work the guy who served me was vile. So rude and could tell me ordering a coffee was a problem for him. Always found female staff lovely. He has put me off going back.

Been coming here for the last 25 years.... at the start 5/5 for food and for a great Saturday night out. Weekdays had the occasional tribute act or spiritualist night. The P!nk act was out of this world. Changes have made recently(since Paul left) over the last few weeks. The food menu has become simplified. Gone are the amazing meals that clearly were made with love and attention to detail. The choices now are very much like wetherspoons, you can probably hear the microwave ping. Gone are the durty fries and the easier to make chips and curry sauce or chips and cheese. The lounge bar is great if you are a bloke wanting a pint of tennants whilst sky sports plays in the background. The best thing about the place is the pub quiz. Hosted by Mac (very funny) usually won by Brian, Homer and Co.
