Lovely quiet restaurant with quick & efficiency service. Fantastic service from Jill who tried to help me generate the Blue light code required for the 25% discount. Most frustrating.

We booked last-minute for an early dinner tonight, four adults and two children. Our table was ready for us. Good choice on menus for adults and kiddie meals. It's easy to order at the bar. You pay while ordering which I like as you don't have to hang around afterwards waiting on the bill. All our meals arrived fairly quickly and were lovely.....hot and well presented. Our waiter, Michael was very good, friendly and efficient . I'm sure he said he's usually the chef? If they are short staffed,we certainly weren't aware. Thank you for a lovely meal!

You are selling a carvery meal on Sunday it said in the menus It would be served until 6 pm when we went in the Carvery meal Stopped be ing served at 2.30pm but in your menu it said it was Being served untill 6pm. I do not know when our table was last cleaned and the building is in very poor condition with paint peeling from windows and the place looked dirty. My wife went to the ladies toilets but she found them dirty.and a pile of birds poo at the front door. (Not very good Brewery fare)

One member of staff on. Who was more interested in telling you what they couldn’t do. Stayed 5 nights and ever night they had a different notice up saying why they were closing early or tills not working. Glad to leave and go home. Awful……

Had a great lunch with good friends. Food was good service excellent. Jill our waitress was very attentive to all our needs. Quick service. You never felt as though you were being rushed. Very relaxed atmosphere great time had by all. WILL BE BACK AGAIN VERY SOON.

The exterior is dismal…dilapidated building, restricted menu and non-caring staff. I assume the business is run on a skeleton crew as there is no one to complain to. If staying at the Premier Inn next door, the local hostelries can restore confidence in Scottish hospitality At least it saves leaving a tip!

Very good attentive service. Food was average with fish batter having zero crisp and being more soggy. Visited as stay next door at the premier inn.

Went with my husband and son for lunch. Food was nice, prices were fab and the service was fantastic. The server Nickie was fantastic. Took the time to chat to our little boy and was very enthusiastic. Makes all the difference when you get a member of staff that takes the time and care. Would recommend and we will definitely be back soon.

Visited today with my family including 2 kids 11 & 12) - best brewers farm, all the food was cooked beautifully and the staff were very polite and pleasant- will definitely go back

My mum and I visit regularly and benefit from lots of deals by using the bonus card. We always enjoy our food, which is cooked well and to your preference if you mention when ordering. We have never had a bad dish. The staff are very welcoming and treat us like friends each time. We don’t know everybody’s names but Laura in particular makes your visit relaxed and enjoyable. Samara has also provided us with great service and a friendly face. We’ll be back again soon!

The service was quick, friendly and efficient. The food was excellent, hot and tasty, great portions too. Lucy, our waitress was friendly and always asks how we are which makes us feel welcomed.

We had a good meal. Lots to choose from on the menu and it was tasty. Big portions so we were full. The sharing starter alone filled us up! Staff were really good too. Lots of food for your money.

We visited Craig's House with our two children. Our first impression wasn't great as at the front entrance there was a group of guys smoking and swearing. There were no staff around when we went in so we looked around for a table that was not reserved. Our table was sticky and there were no children's menus. I asked a passing member of staff for menus and although she got them she was very unfriendly, we were going to leave at that point but the kids were hungry so we decided just to go ahead and order. The same member of staff served us at the bar and was so unfriendly, my 4 year old daughter politely ordered her own food and was totally ignored. After paying for our food we were then told they didn't actually have two of the main meals we had ordered. At this point we'd decided we'd rather leave and go elsewhere, I asked them to just refund our money, they processed the refund of £44.16 (paid by card) and to date we are still waiting on this money (almost 3 weeks later). Despite several calls to the manager and also Brewers Fayre Complaints Team the money has not been refunded. We keep being told it will be refunded within the next few days but they still have our money. Will never be back! Awful restaurant, unfriendly unhelpful staff, the whole place is in need of refurbishment and a good clean. I can't rate the food as we didn't get the far.

Had a fab night out last Saturday. The atmosphere is great with background easy listening music. The food is good value for money and we were served really quickly. The staff are fab from the management (Andrew) to the bar staff (Ladislav) and the kitchen staff (Annie) to name but a few. All make you feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble.

Visited with a party of twelve,order taken promptly and correctly.Everyone enjoyed there food no complaints.would like to pass on big thanks to Annie who was fantastic,nothing was any trouble

Having visited this place for business and with family we have come to find the staff and team most welcoming. From the 2 Laura's always welcoming us with a smile to Andrew Lena and Samara helping us through breakfast with the unlimited food and offering us porridge and poached eggs . definatly a place full of character and always look forward to returning

I Ordered a mixed grill which was supposed to include onion rings, tomato and a bit of steak! The first two items did not arrive with the grill and I had to ask for them. The steak was burnt to a crisp (literally) and dried up and totally inedible. The rest of the food on the plate looked as if it had been throw on to the plate from a distance. All this served by people who could not care less. I’ve been a member of Brewers fayre for many years and mainly enjoy the food and nice staff but this joint is the worst I’ve been in and will not return.

Here today with my wife and my daughter. Booked a table on line. Table we were shown was filthy and sticky with finger prints everywhere and decor was badly needing a fresh lick of paint. We asked for another table because we were sitting close to the rear entrance and the door was constantly banging open and shut, blowing the fumes inside the restaurant from the smokers outside. There was a function room attached to the building with a communion party taking place, it was 6pm and we were just looking for a nice Sunday roast in peace. However we could not believe the noise from next door and were treated to a full on mash up from Jolene, to Dancing Queen. It was really loud. The meal itself was mediocre and cold. We had to queue to buy more drinks. There was a dirty bucket and old vacuum cleaner in the eating area near our table. The carpets were in need of a hoover. My wife went to the toilet to be greeted by lots of dirty loo roll on the carpet and a constantly running tap. We were very disappointed and although the staff were very pleasant you could tell they were a bit embarrassed by the noise of the party. The main thing for us was the lack of hygiene. The place needs a deep clean. Sorry won’t be back.

Sadly, we will not be staying here again. The dining staff did not communicate with customers; poor hygiene; heavily tattooed ; surly; untidy appearance; we felt neglected; This is our first time with Brewers Fayre and in future it will be a name which we will avoid at all costs.

We have been coming here for years. You know what to expect. The food is fine. It is well priced so you can enjoy a reasonably priced family meal.

Food was what you would expect for the price the service was great especially from Nic the manager she looked after us and made the visit very enjoyable will be back

Visited today intending to use offer we received on email.Unfortunately the wi-fi wasn't working which meant we couldn't access the code.The staff were fantastic trying to help using their own phones to help. Eventually, through their persistence, they were successful. I huge thank you to the tall guy and two girls for their help. I didn't get their names but 'Zoey' is on our receipt.

Was staying at the Premier Inn next door for 3 nights and used this place for breakfast and evening meals ... and it was fine for both occasions , the usual standard Brewers Faye menu & food , presented like all the other of this chain .... staff friendly and efficient , could not fault them at all . situated in a nice old manor house off the busy roads , however a point taken off for the place being tired and in need of attention to maintenance and decoration outside , really let the place down next to the well kept hotel.

I have been staying at the Premier Inn beside here and regularly visit the Craig House for breakfast and dinner, well cooked food on a budget, alway served with a smile and super helpful staff from Sean,Adam and gordon in the kitchen to the front of house, Ash, both Laura's and both Andrew's, Lena, lesley, samara and Louise.

I have stayed here for four weeks now through work and can honestly say that the staff have made the stay feel more like home than a hotel. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Anyone can see that u have a hard working and dedicated team.

Staff were very unhelpful and the most disengaged, miserable group I have ever seen. I am staying at the premier inn on business. I’m on my own, which can be a nightmare at order at the bar places. However, most are helpful. They bar was 6 deep in people waiting to order/pay. They were in no way overly busy, but clearly short staffed. Having waited about 20 mins for the queue to lessen - it didn’t - I asked a member of staff if I could place my order with her so I didn’t need to leave my table unattended (someone always takes it, then you have to queue back up to change the table number again) or leave my bag etc at the table while I waited to order. Apparently it’s not brand policy, although other brewers fayres have managed this in the past. Totally unhelpful. I suggest they invest in more staff or the app weatherspoons use so I don’t have to leave my stuff unattended. I can’t comment on the food, but I would imagine it would be the usual standard for these budget chain restaurants. Don’t expect a lot and you may not be too disappointed

A filled Yorkshire pudding that's a joke. A large inedible piece of dough with 3 sausages and a very small jar of gravy, Unable to cut through it. The lamb shank must have been smallest lamb they could find together with some mash that was like glue.It was a most disappointing lunch.

I visit this Establishment (My choice) with work for 2x nights every month.

The eating place was clean and plenty room. There was a lot of choice and the portions were good. Nothing fancy but filled you up

Came here as a party of 6 (4 adults and 2 kids). Food was decent the only downside was the amount of time it took to clear the table. It's Brewers Fayre so the food was typical cheaper end of the grub.

Always a nice atmosphere and welcome from the staff, food always very well cooked and presented. We were very well attended to by a young staff member called Scott who made us feel very special. He does look after all his customers.

Been here a few Times meals are excellent. If wanting a cheap meal they do 2 for 9 pounds which is really great value. I had normal menu of salmon with mashed potatoes big piece of salmon with veg that was not boiled away

Visited Craig house recently, was nice, service sadly was very slow even when we arrived we had to wait 10 minutes before someone came to show us to our seat, also between courses service was very slow, had the Chilli burger, but sadly could not taste the chilli, also chips were not very hot and there were only 8 chips, sadly this is the first time I have ever had that experience there as we visit frequently but it certainly will NOT stop us going back.

What could have been 'just another chain pub' was made special by the warm welcome and excellent service from the staff. I was staying at the Premier Inn next door so used the pub for dinner and breakfast, and both were perfectly fine. Pleasant interior, good atmosphere and frequented by locals as well as hotel guests. Very good, thank you.

Have to say the staff were very attentive and patient we were a party of 23 with quite a few children so we’re a bit noisy at times our meals were all served pretty much at the same time which is really good for a large group so no one was sitting waiting the meals were delicious and good value for money very pleasant and helpful staff couldn’t do enough for us would highly recommend x

Have been here a lot lately, slowly becoming one of my favourite places. Food is so good, staff are wonderful very friendly and polite. Lots of 2 for 1 offers on mains. Never had a bad meal yet. Today i had chicken chorizo pie - delicious! My hubs had a mixed grill and said it was the best hes had anywhere, his steak was amazing and the JD sauce was beautiful.x

Used to come here for food a lot a few years ago and the food was just ok however, we ate in the restaurant yesterday and have to say the food was really really good, there’s so much to choose from on the menu and reasonably priced too. Member of staff who served us couldn’t have been more helpful too. Will definitely return

Went there today. My wife and I go there a lot and normally everything is great. Today however, was different. My wife ordered a meal for both of us. The waitress Lena ? (who was marvellous throughout) took the order and it was clarified by my wife and Lena exactly what the order was. The meals arrived but my wifes meal was not what was ordered. Ashley or Ash (manager?) had the problem explained to him. He apologised and said he would sort it out. He was asked for another drink at the same time. A little later, WHEN I HAD FINISHED MY FOOD, the waitress was passing and we asked what was happening with my wifes food and the additional drink. She said she would sort it out. Lena came back with my wifes food and we asked about the additional drink. She went away and came back with the additional drink. It seems the manager had put the drink through the till but had not asked for it to be brought to the table (or brought it himself). I cannot say that it was nice having my food and then sitting whilst my wife then ate her food. After all, we went there to have a meal TOGETHER and at the same time !! The visit was saved by the actions of Lena. The one thing noticeable about the visit was the seemingly shortage of staff that day.

Heh everyone , take your mums out for wee lunch at Craighouse, the staff are all so pleasant , don't get enough credit for the job they do. Andrew and Laura both attended to us at different stages of being in restruaunt, both very friendly , great customer service skills, they know how to treat people, they deserve recognition for a job well done, keep up the good work, and to all the staff merry Christmas. Ordered 2 main meals and was misled by miserable assistant at bar who encouraged me to order the '2 mains for £8.99 deal'. Yes, it was a fraction cheaper but a way smaller portion. Anyway, the fish dish arrived and it was rather awful. Fish was battered with skin still on base and the batter itself was not crispy just soggy and horrible along with chips (also not crispy) that looked and were barely warm - yuck! I had lasagne which was piping hot, 2 slices of pale tomato & 1 slice of garlic bread which was lucky if it had been toasted for 1 minute and a minute spread of garlic butter- didn't eat it. You pay for the food before you get it so if t's unsatisfactory I guess you complain, but nobody came near us to enquire if everything was ok and at the bar it certainly wasnt service with a smile. Wasn't that impressed on previous visit and this was probably out last. Its such a shame, this venue used to be such a welcoming lovely place but its so shabby from the outside now and the staff dont seem in the slightest caring or welcoming. What a disappointment

We were staying at the Premier Inn next door to the Brewers Fayre and booked the restaurant for our evening meal as it was close by.

We chose this eatery as it is within our vicinity.Stunning building , surrounded by lovely grounds and a rather crowded car park. Inside interiors were warm and cosy. Mixed demeanour of staff, from friendly to rather miserable and uninterested. Self order service at the bar. Food was slightly cold, frozen fish, chips and peas. Dont think I would return in a hurry

We love Craig House because our dog is welcome to eat with us in the bar. Today he and I had the turkey dinner and I have to say it was delicious. Oscar cleaned his plate too!

Managed to get a table on a busy Friday evening. We both ordered burgers with no bun, asked for extra salad in place of the bun. Unfortunately, I was told that I could order a side salad, but the bun couldn't be substituted for salad. A bit of a poor show.

New Christmas menu looks good , we opted for the black and blue burger and the Christmas burger both were good , great value , nice surrounding , was warm and friendly atmosphere thanks to our waitress Lena , warm friendly and professional.

Popped by unannounced looking for a table of 8, wasnt a problem for the man seating people. We were quickly shown to a table, provided with kids menus and told about the carvery selection. We opted for a mix of carvery and menu choices and all were hot fresh and enjoyable. Left no room for puds but will defo be back to try those as after eight sundae looked very good. See you again soon!!

We use the Craig house for all our family get togethers. The food is always good and the service friendly and efficient. Thanks again for another great trip we come from all over the uk and appreciate that you take large bookings at short notice. We will be back soon!

I was here last week for a family meal and though I was very impressed last time I ate here, I was even more pleased with the service my family and I received last week as I'd previously recommended it to family members before. There were 8 of us in total and we all ordered separately, this did not appear to be a problem for staff at Craig House; did not take too long, our orders all arrived at the same time and the food did not disappoint. (I highly recommend the smothered chicken!) Staff were very helpful, unfortunately I did not catch the young waitress' names but everyone was extremely welcoming and friendly - just how it should be! We will definitely be back, thank you :-)

Every so often when visiting the area we make a point of calling in to the Craig House where we can be assured of a good quality meal and service. Our latest visit was no exception, service was friendly and helpful and the food beautifully and freshly cooked still at the top of my list for local restaurants.

Came along with the family and have to say everything was great. Food was amazing especially the macaroni cheese. The staff were very nice and friendly and we will definetly be back

I visited here with my family recently, having not been for a while. Previously we had tried the themed nights which weren't too bad.

Very few customers yet a long wait for food. Then a reminder for pudding and...another wait. Food not that good.

We went here on Sunday for a family meal. We arrived and got a table and asked a girl for a high chair and she said ‘aye’ and never came back. We then asked a man for one and he brought it over after a few minutes and it was disgusting! We had also asked for kids menus and when the guy did come over with the high chair and my daughter commented that the table we were sitting at seemed to be reserved as there was a reserved sign on it, he explained (rather rudely) that he had just put the reserved sign on the table while he got a high chair, photocopied kids menus and served everyone! To be honest I was a little shocked at how he spoke to my 8 year old daughter so we sat stunned at the lack of service and left and went somewhere else where we were served promptly and politely. I mean who doesn’t have any kids menus available on a Sunday when there’s a park and carvery and I’d imagine a busy day? I could understand if the restaurant had been busy but it was just before 1 and hardly any customers were in. We have eaten here a number of times and regularly eat at brewers fayre’s because they are usually kid friendly. On Sunday Craig house were rude, unorganised and definitely not kid friendly. Very disappointed.

Although breakfast wasn’t bad I would give this place a miss for an evening meal. Not knowing the area and without transport it was easier to use the offer of discounted evening meal and breakfast while staying at the Premier Inn beside Brewers Fayre. However, you would not want to pay full price for the meals provided. Very little effort made, staff could all do with new uniforms (or even an iron) and the place itself is just tired looking.

The staff, and especially Lena and Laura, are always friendly and welcoming. The food is better than you might expect for a budget location. I've just enjoyed a tasty smothered chicken and my wife a three cheese quiche. Adding a bottomless diet Pepsi, an extra piece of chicken (for Oscar) and swapping potatoes for sweet potato fries put the bill at £13.76

Had a great lunch here and had the best service by a lovely lady who couldn’t do enough for us. 2 adults and 4 kids sat outside in October sun. Food quick and just what we wanted. Thank you we will return

The food here was lovely. Huge portions,you can refil your soft drink as much as you like. Had coconut ice cream with grilled pineapple as well was delicious. All staff were very friendly and helpful (apart from one!). Will definitely be back!

Came here during our kids october holidays, it was quite quiet on arriving and was able to sit anywhere, staff very friendly and alot of choice, we both had burgers and delicious, our children had the sausages chips and peas and there was plenty for them. The ony thing from a parent point of view is that the childrens menu had colouring in to do but there were no crayons or pens to do this. ( our children are nearly 5 and 3 so this would have helped entertain them on the wait ) xx

We took my father and my grandson and his wife to Craig House today for lunch and doubt we will ever go back. The service was abysmal. Starters arrived quickly but after waiting 3/4 of an hour for the main course, my husband spoke to a member of staff and the food was brought straight away. Plates were hot but the food was almost cold, therefore the food not enjoyable at all. It had obviously been left lying under lights or on a hot plate and forgotten. Don’t know how long we’d have sat there if we hadn’t spoken up.

Extremely friendly service, especially from Annie, who went above and beyond to make sure our needs were catered for. Food was excellent and would definitely recommend anyone staying in the Edinburgh area to visit.

Cant recommend craig house enough. Came in today for the first time and was blown away with the service from one of your amazing employees - Anne r ( thats what it says on my till receipt) if you do employee of the month this lady deserves it! From start to finish she made our Sunday dinner memorable. She seated up as soon as we came in and offered us the pick of tables, she then wiped the table down and came with anything that was missing. She then went above and beyond to accommodate my little girl who isnt the greatest eater selection wise. Cant thank you enough Anne! Honestly thank you!

Visited with work colleague & to be fair I used to visit this restaurant quite regularly when staying at the premier inn next door. This visit will be the last I think as the food I was served was as the title says awful. Giant Yorkshire pudding with sausages, mash , peas & fried onions. The onions were ok, the sausages were barely cooked , the mash & Yorkshire pud was dry & the peas were ok. Small pot of gravy did little to wet this . I asked for more gravy but after waiting ten minutes had to go and ask again this my food was now dry cold . I did tell the waitress of my disgust & was offered a free desert which I declined.

I am staying in the Premier Inn attached. Couldn’t be bothered to walk into Musselburgh (further than I thought) so decided to try here.

Would like to highly recommend last nights food was great ,but the girl who served us was Annie she went the extra mile for my dad 79 uncle 88 and aunt 83 ,her attention to detail was exceptional and could do enough for us all I wish in my two companies I have I could find staff with the same ambition to please the customer highly recommend this lass thank you again

Great food at fantastic prices. Annie our waitress was amazing and very helpful our whole visit so will definitely be returning soon.

My partner and I visited the other evening on a buy one get one main free so our expectations were very low and all I can say is I will be back. The choice was fantastic, portion size great and most importantly the food was delicious, we both chose the steak with a side of macaroni cheese bites (yummy). All the staff we encountered were friendly and polite but a shout out to Annie who despite being busy in the kitchen was happy to listen to me compliment the service and she made us feel very welcome.

Hadn’t been in a while was sometimes a bit of a hit and miss , had noticed a difference straight away with the atmosphere , staff always seemed a bit on edge before , we had a warm friendly greeting , followed by great service from Lena and trainee girl Carrie , food was good we had the black and blue burger and the ultimate burger . Will definitely return to a happier feeling craighouse .

Thursday 5th Sept, 4 of us in for an after golf snack at 2.00pm. Poor attention, the place looked a bit tired, the staff tried to be pleasant, but the tomato soup barely covered the bottom of the plate and looked like a watered down tin soup with the other bits just as unnattractive. Looking at other reviews, maybe an off day badly managed, but I doubt it somehow. ?

Friendly staff, hot food, just perfect. We stayed for a week and went in every night. It can get busy so might be worth booking a table. We never had to wait long for the food and it was always teaming hot. Lovely.

Went out for a meal with friends to the brewersfayre known localy as the sweethope after waiting to be served at the bar for about 20 minutes one customer one member of staff i ordered the soup & a chicken curry the soup was cold &the; bread was stale they came & took it away with an offer of a replacement or a refund i opted for the latter the chicken tika was poorly presented with a popadom & dip sitting on top of the nan bread the rice was mildly warm the tika was bland & the nan bread was rock hard i observed a lady customer who came in cleaning a table to sit at then moved to another table only to have to clean that & then went to a member of staff to get a spray to cleans the table i informed a member of staff that the meal was not up to standard & that i would be posting a review on trip advisor & i would be writing to head office i found the whole experience quite disgusting & if that is thier standards then i won’t be back i told him to keep the refund as they clearly need it more than me avoid at all cost

We really enjoyed our lunch! The ribs were delicious and sweet potatoes chips, lovely! You have soda refill with different flavours!

We live locally but use this Restaurant on many occasions for family dinners or just for a nice meal out for two of us. We have not been disappointed with the food or service. We recently returned from Wolverhampton with family and stopped here for our Dinner, first time for some of our guests and they were so impressed with the menu etc.

We have been visiting the restaurant for years now and have always had great service. A good selection of meals on the 2 for £8.99 menu and the serving staff are always happy to give advice on any questions we have had. Always an enjoyable visit !

We had breakfast there and it was not good. Continental has very little choice. Porridge and a croissant, yogurt and fruit. No cold meat no cheeses...

We had 25mins to wait for food even though the restaurant was less than half full. The smothered chicken was overdone and a bit dry.

Popped in for late lunch and service was ok since it wasn't busy. Restaurant area looks a bit tired but was clean enough . Food alright. £24 for chicken /rib combo ( not much meat on the ribs and frozen chops not that crispy) a spinach and feta lasagne (really nice) a lager tops and a coke. Staff attentive though slightly let down with the young female waitress asking 'are yez finished?' Please! I'm NOT a snob and this isn't trying to be a 5 star establishment but polite staff cost nothing! Felt slightly disappointed in whole dining experience so wouldn't rush back.

First time I have been here and it will be the last, had fish pie and when it arrived it was thick with cheese and underneath the potato was like smash not proper potato and I had one piece of fish and 2 prawns but loads of peas, it was a small dish but have to say it was the worst fish pie I have ever tasted, no taste whatsoever and I make fish pie myself and often have it when out, my friend was treating me but unfortunately it was not a treat, the chef should be ashamed of themselves for turning out such a terrible meal.

Just back from craighouse for my birthday meal,the service was fantastic meal was great,they brought balloons,banners and a birthday cake which my hubby secretly handed in before hand,they went over and above with everything,will deffo be back,a great birthday meal,a special thanks to laura the duty manager and the rest of team tonight and also courtney who looked after us tonight

Visited here for lunch this week with my friend and was astounded by the level of service offered to me by Andrew. Nothing was too much of hassle and when we did not understand things he was more than happy to clarify our concerns. True 5 star service.

Been a while but on deciding to visit friends in Musselburgh, a return visit to Craighouse House was needed. Still some of same the faces when I was last here. Had the ultimate burger which was awesome and so filling. Service was excellent as I remembered. Well done chaps was great to see you again.

Love going here for a great meal excellent customer service, Thursday night tea time and even just for a coffee. Been quite a few times now and the staff getting to know me.

Staying at the attached premier inn and arrived after 8pm so thought we would just eat “next door” - never again!!! Service was the worst!! Main course ok, but by the time we’d finished no staff seemed to want to clear the plates. I waited in line for 15 -20 mins to order a “mini pudding and coffee” .. the manager had closed all but one til with one staff member serving drinks and taking food prefers because the closed soon - 11pm, this was only 9.40!!! By the time the pudding arrived without the coffee, apparently I had to get a mug and make that myself at the breakfast machine... I left both, I was too annoyed to eat!!
