Popped in for food on a busy Saturday night, the salt n pepper chicken and chips was tasty, but the steak pie was definitely the star. It was pretty busy, so app ordering was turned off, and when we went up to the bar to place our order, the bar staff made a point of telling us that the kitchen would be closing shortly so if we wanted desserts to make sure to order them soon; which I thought was thoughtful.

Staff friendly. The best resource in the tired place. 2nd visit in a few months as in the area. Previous visit. Venue was very limited first time due to delivery issue of chicken. This time arrived at very start of lunch service. If I had looked at the carpet first- I wouldn't have ordered. Even my husband said it looked as if it hadn't been hoovered for weeks. It looked rank and had very visible debris. If this is the public facing area, I cringe as to the state of the kitchen. The play area was closed weekdays due to staff shortage- in school holidays. This is false evonomy.. Witnessed at least 2 grouos leave because of this which means lost revenue. The 2 for 1 mains deal is misleading. The mains differ significantly from those on the main menu. Eg smothered chicken barely covered and no coleslaw. Prob worth the money but would have preferred more cheese/ bbq sauce and trimmings so should have paid more. The toilet sinks look dire.. The sealant round them looks shocking and makes you more aware of just how run down the place is elsewhere.

Im not one for writing a lot of reviews, however I feel it necessary to write this one. We have taken our granddaughter to a couple of Halloween themed places both in the central belt where we stay but decided to go to another as we're were up Brechin way for a couple of days. I must admit though reading some of the reviews on here we we're thinking of looking for somewhere else. However we decided to stick to visiting though with a bit of trepidation I must admit. Actually thought it was at the castle- my mistake. Found staff to be very friendly from the girl at reception giving out the wristbands to the restaurant staff and the driver of the barrel train. Granddaughter loved that btw. Also ran into Darren the park manager and I feel I must say how friendly he was - taking pictures of us which is always appreciated. Spent a bit of time talking to him asking him about the storm damage and how his team had worked hard to make sure everything was in place for the visitors. Great effort!!! Before going to talk to another family he gave me directions to the castle which was great. The only "negative" thing I could say about him is he gave us clues to find the 2 purple pumpkins we couldn't find but there was 1 we just couldn't get and he wouldn't tell us. Only kidding that would have spoiled it. You can see that everyone has worked hard, the restaurant is really clean, prices reasonable and the food was great - absolutely no complaints there. Loved the shop displays and a good variety to buy at decent prices unlike some of the other places we've been to this year. We're looking forward to coming back up at Christmas time to see the light show. I work with the public too and it can be difficult but well done to everyone involved.

We stopped for lunch on the road north after a lengthy drive. We have been several times before and everything was fine but NEVER again!! Food was very poor quality and we will not return. I had fish and chips..the fish was over cooked and dry and the chips had obviously been sitting forever, they were like cardboard, chewy and horrible. My husband had macaroni and garlic bread, he declined the chips but his plate was served with chips on it. The cheese sauce had split and was tasteless and the garlic bread was so hard it was inedible. Just under £30 for 2 meals and 2 drinks was not cheap for a lunch that couldn’t be eaten! We were that exhausted and just wanted home so we left without complaining but we definitely will not be back.

Visited for lunch . Was busy so no tables inside . We were offered a table outside which was extremely dirty . I requested it to be wiped . The waitress went inside but returned and said she wouldn’t wipe it because all the tables were wiped in the morning ! So much for hygiene ! Won’t be back as I assume this standard is through out .

This is the second time I've been here, both times at lunchtime. The first time I was told they closed at 2pm and as it was just after 1pm I was too late. The next time was today and as it was just before 1pm I was told sternly I could eat but had to be out by 1.30 as they close at 2pm. Then charged £10 for a breakfast roll and cup of tea which whilst it was very nice it wasn't worth that, especially as I had to throw it down and get out. There wasn't a single other customer in as they clearly know it's not allowed near closing time!

We visited this place as we had been disappointed by the poor service elsewhere and they certainly righted a wrong. We had home made pies and a cake each with coffee. It was delicious and we will certainly visit this place again.

The manager is very unfriendly beats me how you get a job in customer service with this rude attitude. We decided not to wait until it was open in 10 minutes time.

A fairly standard branch of Greggs that sells fast food at very competitive prices. There's the usual choices of pasties, soft drinks, coffee and of course unhealthy snacks. Most of the time I get Vegan sausage rolls, but the ones here were poor. The filling had hardly any texture, it felt like I was biting into some kind of mash. The coffee was decent though.

This cafe has really gone downhill. Went in for a cuppa and cake and could not believe the prices for the cakes. Extortion. £3.99 for a tiny slice of cake and £1.10 for a small teacake. Used to love this cafe but don't think I will be back.

Had an appointment at the next door Stracathro Hospital, which we arrived early for, so thought we'd kill some time and grab a coffee. What a dump, talk about a desolate looking place, it was like something out of a post apocalyptic movie, think 28 days later and you'd not be far wrong. Im guessing this place hasn't had a bit of furnature purchased or lick of paint applied this millenium. I'm so glad we only ordred coffee as after seeing the state of the toilets on the way out it would certainly put me off ever eating any food in the place even though the food pics in the other reviews look good. I found the toilets through smell rather than sight and it was very apparant why they absolutley stank of piss, i've seen better toilets at a 1980's football stadium than this place. Note in the pictures the wase pipe from the urine trough isn't even connected to a drain, it just runs onto a tile gully which is open to the room. Quite how Angus Council allows such standards at a place that serves food is baffling.
