Absolutely brilliant place to meet friends and family for drinks and or meals….love,y attentive staff and will be back many time in the future, thank you all at the picture house

Such a change from our last visit. Only a 20 minute wait. Food was piping hot and lovely. I would recommend a visit.

Working away from home always looking for good value for money. Picture House is very good value. Had Dinner 2 nights. First night very tasty Salt and Chilli Chicken. Second night Burger Deal £10 any Burger & Pint great value Burger slightly disappointing. Staff all very pleasant and helpful.

I am up visiting from Glasgow and had a lovely meal in the picture house, staff were super friendly and always on hand place kept very clean

Stopped for a late lunch today and after our first visit in October 2024 found it again excellent. Delicious food, friendly efficient service and great value for money. Will be back that way in March and definitely be back to The Picture House

My partner and I went out for some alone time without the kids for the first time in a long time. When we arrived, it was busy and I was advised that they were not taking any more food orders. I asked if there was any chance we could be squeezed in, the lovely lady (I forgot to get her name) went out of her way to fit us in. As busy working parents, this meant a lot to get that time to ourselves for a few hours and I can't thank her enough! Amazing customer service and food was lovely!

Quick service - had a whiskey and enjoyed a meal with my girlfriend. Nice atmosphere - music wasn't too loud and relevant to the crowd that was inside today. Will be coming again at some point in the near future

The Picture house in Montrose. The staff are fantastic! My kids love it the foods is sort of similar to a weather spoons. I feel that it would be better if there could be more gluten free options. They really make an effort to bring in great live bands! Tasty cocktails! I’ve had some brilliant evenings spent here.

Popped in with my partner today, we both had katsu chicken and it was delicious.everything was hot tasty and value for money. Couldnt fault the meal and the service from Andy was great, would 100% recommend the picture house to my friends and family. Cant wait to come back.

Kayleigh and Wendy were absolutely outstanding! Had a big party booked for food and they were so attentive and accommodating when we were a bit late due to a storm and made the whole day really special. Thank you so much for everything x

Wendy was fantastic with my son as I made a mistake and told him he could have the Christmas menu and get the Christmas tree pudding which had to be pre ordered but they were able to give him it anyway which made him happy The burger of the month Texas bbq one was fantastic However the showstopper was the raspberry and white chocolate brownie Great atmosphere and very attentive staff My only gripe would be the size of the plate for the brownie as it didn’t ck e with any ice cream or cream but that’s very minuscule compared to a very enjoyable experience

Popped in for food on a busy Saturday night, the salt n pepper chicken and chips was tasty, but the steak pie was definitely the star. It was pretty busy, so app ordering was turned off, and when we went up to the bar to place our order, the bar staff made a point of telling us that the kitchen would be closing shortly so if we wanted desserts to make sure to order them soon; which I thought was thoughtful.

Food was good and tasty - second course was a bit slow arriving but was still good. One problem we encountered was using discount vouchers with the many special menus. The Seniors menu was 2 courses for £6.99 but increased when the discount voucher was applied !!

Not enough bar staff on, given it was Christmas light switch on and the football team were playing a local derby.

1hr wait for food,which was cold,certainly not food temperature guidelines!!!!! Sticky surfaces. Dirty glasses. Whole place had a dirty smell. Staff barely spoke when ordering,then when went to complain and get refund he had no interest or acknowledgment just told to stick my card in!!!! Place has certainly gone downhill

My clearly pregnant fiancée and I went in for food, just food and made this clear when we were away to order, and was rudely told we needed Id to order food, we have gone here quite often and this is out first bad experience, we really enjoy the food and the service is usually really good, but can see from Facebook that it has really gone downhill as far as service goes recently, we ended up leaving as I who is 24 and look older did not have Id on me

Stopped in here for food as not much was open in Montrose, had few drinks and dinner for very reasonable price. Very tasty, good service and really hot. Very empty so quick turn turn around.

Everytime we come here , there is something they can not serve ie roast lunch on a Sunday been let down more than once and two desserts tonight . Staff lovely but give up not be back !!

Enjoyed the new salt and pepper chicken dish, my wife had the hunters chicken and will likely be back tomorrow for lunch. Wasn't really busy so atmosphere was missing.

Would only serve alcohol after food order as it was a mixed age group put charged them both together anyway? 🤦‍♂️ had the main before the starter which was amazing and waited over an hour for the desert that never came and was apparently an issue to refund. On the plus side the dinos burger was epic.

food is good! they have a lot of options and the price is absolutely fair! came here both nights we stayed in montrose :) also the restaurant is furnished and designed lovely. so something for the stomach and the eye!

Popped in for lunch, and as always, the service was fantastic. Wendy was friendly, chatty, and accommodating. It was relatively busy, but this didn't impact our wait time, and when Wendy brought our drinks over she apologised for the wait - a wait we hadn't noticed or felt was longer than usual. Would recommend for a great atmosphere and friendly face when Wendy is working.

Popped in on Saturday just past! Props to the two ladies running the bar and the floor! Very busy but they handled it extremely well 👍 wide range of drinks & fair priced food.

Place is clean and has a good selection of beers. A bit disorganised when it came to food. Tried a few times to order things from the menu but very little of it seemed to be available. They did warn us there was a long wait for food which is fair enough. The food when it arrived wasn't great. Have been here before and it was better than this.

Worst wetherspoons I've visited.. was not servicing food from 20.00 and not open until 11. For a tourist spot you would expect the place to cater for them..

We arrived at around 20h40 in time (we thought) to order a quick meal and a few drinks before the kitchen closed at 21h00 and the bar closed at 23h00 as advertised. Oh how wrong we were! When we entered the bar, it was very quiet and a couple sitting at a table were just receiving their ordered meal. We went to the bar to order a drink each and to then look at the menu. Apparently, the last orders for meals had just been served. No one checked with the kitchen if they would accept an on time order! So, the pub lost out on more than £60 of revenue when it was really quiet. A very bad first impression!!!!!

Went in for a quick bite as we had to charge our car . Staff were friendly and made us feel welcome especially the lady barmaid who was happy to see my dog . Atmosphere was good too with the sport on big tv’s . Food was good also

The place to go for a decent feed in Montrose

Quite a poor layout, not helped by a multi-level floor. Would suggest that mgmt do their homework and when a top flight football team is playing the local side, footfall is likely to increase and schedule an appropriate amount of bar staff. Waiting an hour for a food order is unacceptable in this day and age.

A lot has already been written about the ordering app - we can confirm that it is unusable. If the reception is already poor, the management must show alternative methods. After 30 minutes of trying, we gave up and wrote down our order on paper and handed it over. Food: the children's pizza failed, rated inedible (4 people tried it), hamburgers and tacos were good, the curry tasted ok, but didn't look very appetizing. Hygiene: completely failed. We cleaned our table ourselves and disinfected it straight away. Cutlery was placed on the now clean table without napkins. The empty table next to us remained untouched = dirty with leftover food on it until we left after 1.5 hours. We only stayed so long because we had to wait 1 hour for food. It's actually a shame, we went there with a good feeling.

We had a meal for 14 people to celebrate our granddaughter's 21st birthday and everything was excellent. The staff were friendly and professional and couldn't do enough to make the meal an enjoyable and fun time for her. We will definitely be booking again.

Waited at the counter for 5 minutes without being considered…. Not even a greeting. We went out.

I’ll start by saying the only reason I’ve given a 1star is because no starts is literally impossible Went for my mums birthday dinner, ordered food at 5.45 and didn’t receive our main course until 7.14, multiple things were wrong with the orders and when we tried to send them back the waiting staff came up to our table and started arguing with us saying we hadent requested anything when it was on the receipt, the waitress we had was very rude and when trying to get a refund we got no apology or in fact anything as she did the entire transaction in passive aggressive silence on top of that we only got a partial refund so over all rubbish food rubbish service and on May Day of all day there was no manager on site

Staff are brilliant. We are visiting the area from Manchester and were made to feel very welcome. Dog friendly pub and everyone was very accommodating, waitresses brought our mutt a little bowl of water and everyone was very friendly. Ordered lunch on one occasion and food came quick and was tasty. Great place to watch sport, lots of TVs so you would never be struggling to see if you visited to watch a match.

Visited with 8 of my golfing friends, we had almost all the small platter choices as starters to share, plus the nachos and then 5 different choices of main and even managed a few desserts. Everyone enjoyed everything, food was all hot and service was friendly and efficient as well as really good value!

Not much atmosphere. Sports on all tele's with no sound. Food is typical pub food.. nothing to write home about. Staff friendly and chatty.

Booked. Table on line, received confirmation e mail, travelled 30 miles only to stand in a queue for 1/2 hour ( only one person serving behind bar) when we did eventually got served we were advised they had no record of our booking and if we wanted food it would be another 1/2 hour wait, total shambles, we left in disgust and will not be back

Went into the picture house today for lunch for Mother's day. My my son and I both chose from the roast section and I can honestly say we were not disappointed. Everything about the meal was so lovely, the meat just melted as soon as you went to eat it and the portion was very generous. I will definitely be going back for another roast might make it a monthly treat.

Decent food at a decent price. Experience spoiled by one of the staff's rather hostile attitude. We were in here four times, each time we were treated with hostility by the same member of staff.

Despite the bar being full, there was only 1 bar staff serving drinks and taking food orders, and only 1 waitress delivering food to the tables. Credit to the waitress, despite the long long wait for food and the huge backlog of orders, she still managed a smile and a pleasant outlook.

Food selection and quality had improved a lot over the years, great selection and very tasty. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Not a fan of the constant sport on the TV, I get it's trying to be a sports bar but when the music goes off and the sport TV is on its a little off putting.

I eat here all the time but was in with family this time so all 3 adults where eating and my neice who is 3 just wanted some ice cream as she wasn't that hungry when I ordered at the bar I was told no she couldn't have ice cream unless she is eaten a meal???....due to the licence??...so we had to order a meal for her?

Came in today Sunday 21st for Sunday lunch. I had the duo roast and my partner had beef roast, I've got to say it was the best roast dinner i have had in a long time. My partner enjoyed hers too. Compliments to the chef and the service we recieved from the staff was amazing too. Will definately return

Out with my 2 daughters and daughter in law for a catch up. Had a meal elsewhere and came here so we could have a coffee, pudding and blether. Took a while for someone to serve me at the bar, and could see at this point there was one lady doing the running around and the man that served me. Was told that we had to buy a meal for anyone under 18. Fair enough, went to the table to choose something. Guy at the bar disappeared and we didn't see him again. Lady served me, she was busy making coffee and there were by this point 3 people behind me. I ordered the tomato pasta and chocolate ice cream for the kid. Wanted 2 of the small Eton mess and hot drink deal from the menu. Told it want available. Managed to order full sized Eton mess and cappuccinos though. Other daughter just wanted a drink. Tried to use blue light card but told it could only be used via the app. Pasta was just boiled pasta with a dollop of sauce on the top. Coffee was just hot milk. Eton mess was edible at best. We didn't have many options on a Sunday afternoon with an 8yr old, but we know now that this won't be one of them in the future. Also it was unfair on the lady that was doing all the running around alone.

We needed somewhere for the whole family to get together for Dad & Mum’s 50th wedding anniversary. We decided on The Picture House because we’ve never been disappointed with the food or service there. Saturday night was no different. The food was superb and all the staff on the night were #simplythebest. I didn’t get everyone’s names but you know who you are - thank you. Special shout out to the kitchen staff who prepared and presented delicious food. Also special thanks to Callum who was in touch before the event to make sure everything was going well. We arrived and decided to place our order on the app, 15 mins later I went to the bar just to check it had gone through. A waitress (who we'd witnessed being quite rude to another table of customers) snapped that she 'was just doing it'. I politely said thank you. Another 5 minutes later and the same waitress slammed our drinks on our table. Customers at a table next to us commented that there was no need for that to have happened. 35 minutes later our food was delivered. Same waitress, who seemed to have 'calmed down' and said 'enjoy your food'. Our food was good but the service was really disappointing both from length of time aspect and the waitress' approach.

Had Christmas dinner here this year. The food was cooked beautifully, the turkey was so juicy and the portions were a good size (put it this way, I went away very full and couldn’t hardly move lol) The service was great, didn’t feel rushed, the staff were all so friendly, chatty and made us all feel welcome and special, so thank you for that ( as it was our first Christmas living in Scotland) The atmosphere was nice and relaxed with good selection of Christmas tunes playing in the background. I will be back again next year. Thank you again for a lovely, welcoming meal.

It's good for families and singles. Food is Ok, and no complaints. Bit of waiting to place food or drink orders, as only one person behind bar to accept orders, but apart from that, no complaints.

Popped in for a bite to eat at lunch time. Wendy, the member of staff who served me, was very friendly and helpful. The food (chicken strips with hot sauce and the Katsu Curry) were fantastic. Very tasty. I have eaten here on a few occasions and it never lets me down.

A lovely venue for Christmas catchup with 3 friends. The place was nice and warm which can be unusual these days. Quick service at the bar, nice clean toilets. Our food was piping hot and good size portions. We all had the Balmoral burger, burger with haggis and peppercorn sauce. Our experience was made even more personal, by the friendly assistant manager Callum. He took time to chat with us. Will definitely return.

This was absolutely horrible experience we had in this place. We come at 4 pm after pickup kids from school/nursery. My boyfriend should leave offshore at 4.48pm by train, so we wanted to get food for kids as we already had before pick up kids. Lady on the till refuse to serve us. She said we all have to have a meal as its law if we coming to pub with kids. I never ever heard anything like this before. Feel like they are making law for them self as this is not true. We could not get two portions of sausages and chips for kids with drinks for all of as because we had kids with us. They want us to order food fo all or they could not serve us. So we left. I feel this as massive discrimination for family with kids and never come back again. People they dont know the law properly should work there.

Friday night, the heating was off. A pint of lager and a Havana Club and coke cost £13.80. The definition of extortion. It was little wonder the place was entirely vacant at 9.45pm!

Many thanks for opening early to accommodate the Lathallan Pipe Band and Granite City Pipes and Drums and guests during the Remembrance Day parade. We received a warm welcome with delicious bacon and egg rolls and warm drinks ready on arrival. The atmosphere was cosy...

This place is amazing. Couldn’t ask for better food or service your server ciara was absolutely outstanding. Nothing was to much for her she was so attentive and couldn’t help us enough. Went for lunch yesterday with friends, good food, service was good, because we weren't getting good signal we couldn't order at table, not problem just went bar ordered what we wanted. My only criticism was the tartare sauce tasted strange, couldn't eat it. Great place for families. Kids portion was really big, we had fish and chips, scampi and chips, lasagna garlic bread, kids tomato pasta, portion cheesy garlic bread and onion rings plus kids meal they get pudding so chocolate icecream.

Omg Callum the manager was undeniably incredible! So welcoming, funny, personable and helpful. Great vibe. Great food, what else could you want!!???¡ but honestly staff were incredible, with Callum the vibrating shining star! If we ever come back to Montrose, this is where we are...

After an hour of waiting, it turned out that I would not receive my order (I ordered dinner). I received a refund for my order, and the place itself is nice, but I don't recommend coming hungry.

Virgin waiter refusing to serve us fish & chips because we can’t show him physical ids to prove that we are 18 only to eat a fish & chips

Went to Montrose on a Tuesday but seems most of it is closed on Tuesdays. By chance the wife saw some people going down a side street and that was where the picture house is. The staff were great and it's dog friendly the food was hot and reasonably priced and tasty. When we are up that way will eat there again.

Very dissapointed in the picture house . No breakfast menu, No childs size mac and cheese. Wouldn't go back.
