Meadowbank Inn in Angus

Visited for lunch . Was busy so no tables inside . We were offered a table outside which was extremely dirty . I requested it to be wiped . The waitress went inside but returned and said she wouldn’t wipe it because all the tables were wiped in the morning ! So much for hygiene ! Won’t be back as I assume this standard is through out .

Absolutely spot on breakfast. Good value and done to perfection. Staff pleasant, efficient and friendly.

We ordered our food and the girl who took our order didn’t repeat our order however we didn’t ask her to as we thought it would be right. 3 of our meals were given to us, we managed to finish our meals and soup before one persons meal even arrived. We asked where the burger was and they said they will go ask, we were told a couple mins twice even tho it was more than 10. When it eventually came he said he wasn’t happy to pay and the manager came over very rudely and said “you wanted to speak to me” she said she wasn’t prepared to give it for free (not even offered half price) and then just walked away very rudely. No coming to say sorry once only the waitresses did, he paid as he felt there was no negotiating with her at all.

We decided to go out for breakfast this morning and what a treat we got at the Meadowbank Inn, In my opinion its the best breakfast around, clean and tidy surroundings, staff attentive and the quality of the food was amazing. Definitely recommend this place for breakfast

Greated at the door by staff asked to use hand sanitiser, sign in and then shown to a table, given a menu which is extensive. Given time to look and decide what to eat, then the staff came back to take the order. The place is very very clean, actually its immaculately clean, the table service is great and the food is served hot. What a great place for a breakfast, lunch or just a coffee and a snack. Thanks again to the management, the chef, kitchen staff and the girls for the great service making it a nice relaxed atmosphere to enjoy your meal. Now lets get to a previous comment from another person about the tables not being sanitised, let me tell you all the tables and chairs are sanitised after each customer and if your table had crumbs and hairs on it ? Why did you not report it straight away ? Is there another reason that you did not ? I personally think that something else was to blame. For example, yourself! and you saw all the good comments and you decided to write a bad review. Just cant understand people who are not man enough to speak to someone at the time. Keep up the good work and keep serving great food. Thank you all.

Couldn't fault the place and all the staff are very friendly, we go there often for a Sunday breakfast and never once been let down

went to Meadobank December 2020? Was asked to sanatise hands and leave details ( so far so good !) then told to follow waitress to a table surprised to see a crumb ridden table together with 2 long black hairs ! ,I won't be going back

Great lunch very clean sanitised area as you enter sign wait to be seated. We were a family group. Good menu all had something different hot well cooked good and presented well I had scamp and chips and salad enjoyed it. Staff well organized and friendly. Warm and comfortable place to have lunch. Plenty packing will go back

Used to come here with my wifes grandparents, so its been over 3 years since i ve been here back then it felt like a school dinner hall, but now it seams to be alot brighter, the food really good and staff were really nice, toilets have had a nice upgrade too the next time im passing i may pop in again, there is also lots of parking, great improvement,

Have always had lunch in the Meadowbank Inn and I can say the home cooked fresh meals are great. The food is always cooked to order and served hot. The steak pie is cooked by Colin the head chef and wow he makes a good job of it proper traditional way. The staff are very nice and the always welcome you with a smile. Come into the Meadowbank every time I’m on holiday in Arbroath and always have a lovely lunch! Soup and toasty really tasty and the coffee is good! Also been to the function suite for two parties and the space is great for birthdays. The staff have been great both on lunch visits and for parties during the evening. Will definitely keep coming back

I went there with my parents for a spot of lunch, everything was freshly made and very tasty. The staff were warm and friendly and we were served quickly and efficiently. Certainly good value for money and worth a visit!

Myself and a group of carers used to meet elsewhere and then we went to the Meadowbank Inn for coffee and ended up having lunch and it was absolutely amazing hot food and fantastic service nice and bright and couldn't fault the staff. So much that my husband and I have decided to renew our wedding vows at the Meadowbank Inn in 2021 as they cater for weddings as well.

Stopped on my way from Aberdeen to Dundee for an early lunch with family which included young child.The staff kindly brought across a high chair for my nephew and with plenty space and large tables, the Meadowbank accommodated us really well. We had a selection of food including two fantastic large breakfasts (which are great value), a macaroni cheese and a steak pie. All really tasty and homely. Coffee selection was also great and would recommend to all.

My husband and I regularly use this venue when visiting Arbroath for either morning coffee, lunch or just a small afternoon snack. We have also have attended several events held at this venue. The food is good, reasonably priced and the staff are polite and provide a good service. I have attended weddings, birthday parties, Xmas/Hogmanay celebrations, etc in the function suite and have always been happy with the service and food provided. There is also plenty of parking spaces available. Well done to all areas of service at this venue.

Came for lunch after romping around the garden centre next door. Place is ideally situated with ample parking. However like some similar reviews I agree its like going back in time once inside. I likened it to a hospital cafe with rubber floors and an old fashioned design. Ordered a chicken tikka "toastie". What I got was two bits of toast and a cold filling slapped inside. FYI this isn't a toastie, so I doubt there is a toastie matching in sight in the kitchen. You should advertise a warm sandwich with a cold filling! Came with the tiniest amount of salad on the side. For that reason it only gets 2 out of 5, get a toastie or panini machine! The staff were nice enough but what a let down all in all.

I attended a birthday party here recently, great venue and the staff were really friendly. Would definitely recommend !

Very friendly staff & nice traditional food with the steak pie being the real winner. Large carpark & a good location. They also serve breakfast all day so I'll be back sooner than later!

An aggressive server couldn't cope with a small group of us, which made us feel very unwelcome! The filter coffee was ok and the toilets were clean. There was a large parking area.

Rude staff would not let me buy a espresso because I was part of 16 people off a coach, they said " they do not do coaches !"

popped in for a spot of lunch today with granddaughter. Had lovely meals, we both had steak pie, lots of steak in it and very tasty, wee one had kids meal of sausages, chips and beans, very good helping. Had teas and juice for little one, came to around £20, very good value.

Large, airy restaurant ideally located next to a garden centre. On first appearances seem like going back in time to a school dinner hall, though food served is much better. Varied menu, cheap and cheerful

We went here for a family wedding and the food and service was a disgrace. They charged £25 a head for lasagne and chips and a bowl of mixed salad. Nothing like what was arranged. And the cheek to serve it in what I can only describe as what it had been Cooked in. No nice table set for the buffet . Just dumped on to a dinning table with no table cloths, not enough vegetarian food supplied, as they just decided not provide what was asked for again.

This is a nice large cafe to stop off for a cuppa or breakfast. We had breakfast today although had stopped on previous visits for tea etc. The place is spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The food seems to be cooked freshly and brought to the table when ready. How many places can say or do that? The car park is large so parking the car is not a problem and as it is on the outskirts of Arbroath when heading to Montrose it is also relatively peaceful. I recommend this place to you.

Locally known as Meadowbank even Trip Advisor is confused as it calls it Meradowbank Inn, also sometimes Sheiling Coffee House and location on map is wrong!

Went for a evening meal at Christmas and had a large group on different ages. The meal was nice not fancy but cooked very well.

There for function. I pointed out that the inside of the milk jug was still dirty. Which could be removed with my nail. I pointed this out to waitress. Very polite she was, she that all the jugs get put through the dish washer. I apologised and said sorry I don't want that jug. I asked to speak to the manager. She came back with 2 very small white jugs. She said the manageress was busy. I saw her walk through to kitchen I could see that the manageress didnt have the right attitude. First time been there. Will never be back.

The meadow bank inn is a really nice place for lunch wither you want a full lunch or just a light lunch.The choice on the menu is good and they also have specials on soup and a main course every day. They serve salad with most dishes and it is very good could eat a whole plate of it rather than just a side of the plate. Home baking very good and tempting and all you favourites as well. Prices are average for what is on the menu but the quality is very good and also portion size is right for most people. I would recommend this place both for meals or coffee and cake and plenty of tables and good service.

We have visited the Meadowbank cafe on many occasions.

My mum and I went for lunch, it kind of reminded me of school dinners. The staff were lovely. Coffee wasn't great, not strong enough for us. I had macaroni which wasn't bad. Mum had ham salad, everything was OK. But nothing great, just not for us.

We come here quite often and love it.

Had a good value nice Scottish breakfast with family.very good service and clean for such a busy time. Provides good trad menu of popular food.great car parking.

We live a few miles aay and fancied lunch outside Arbroath. We had heard of the Meadowbank as a conference venue used by the local authority for workshops etc.
