A little hidden treasure! Everything was just perfect. Super hosting, delicious food and great service. We were extremely lucky to get a cancellation and can’t wait to visit again.

Very tasty home made sandwiches prepared while you wait followed by great cake, all in a fabulous setting. Check opening hours before making this a part of your day out

We were staying in Allerston whilst on holiday and booked for Sunday Lunch on 13th April. We received a very friendly welcome and shown to our table in the dining room,. which was very clean and tastefully decorated. All the staff were friendly, polite and helpful. We both had the roast lamb which was very juicy and tasty and the vegetables were cooked just how we like them. We will be staying in the village again next year and I told the landlady we will return - and that I will stick to one first name so as not to confuse her again when we book : )

Popped in for lunch, I had the Desperate Dan pie. I haven't had a pie better than this, the meat was hefty chunks that just melted in my mouth and the gravy was full of flavour. Definitely pop in if you're in the area

Busy around the cafés so decided to try Munch...what a great decision! The best sandwiches and service I've had for ages. Such fresh ingredients and the softest breadcakes ever😊😊

Dreadful. 91 characters remaining but that sums it up. Was warned it had deteriorated following the management being farmed out. I can confirm it has. Walked in: empty. Spoke to the barmaid: the landlady answered, sat at the bar drinking. Confirmed the soup was home made as stated. It most certainly was not tinned for sure and arrived with a piece of steam baked bread cut in half, complained and it was removed from the bill. The house burger arrived : poor at best, I will say the overcooked hand cut chips were decent.

3 adults and 4 children under 7. Ordered drinks and asked for a table but was told AFTER we got drinks there was an hours wait. We would have left if we hadn’t already got drinks as the kids were starving. (I’m not blaming them for being busy at all). Bar lady was very sarcastic and rude at this point. We decided to stay and sit outside, kids were cold in shade and the only bench left was literally TOUCHING someone else’s table so we moved it about 3ft in the sun. Was told immediately to move it back, explained it means we’d be back to back touching strangers if we sat there. Was still told to move it back So we made do in the shade. 2, 3 and 6 years old couldn’t wait an hour for food, (again not blaming them for being busy) so we were happy to grab a bag of chips from the chippy next door. The landlord approached us aggressively and intimidated the kids telling us we couldn’t eat it. I would have happily paid for their food but my small children were starving. I explained this, he did not show any consideration and still tried to get us to put the chips away WHILST the kids were still eating!! I understand it’s not their food but they are 2 years old, being told not to eat their food. Disgusting behaviour will never be returning.

Have visited for a number of years. Cant fault service or food. However I would ask Baldersons to review their policy on tap water. Telling a mum (another customer) that they couldn’t supply 2 glasses of tap water for her children - but would sell her a bottle of water and supply the glasses is frankly daylight robbery. It is a less than welcoming approach for the most vulnerable and I won’t be returning!
