The best restaurants serving British food in Richmondshire Yorkshire and The Humber

We visited the tea shop cafe on Saturday and had the absolute nicest time. Amongst us we had soup, sandwiches, Welsh rarebit (I’m still complaining to the wife that she didn’t have Yorkshire rarebit) and cake. It was absolutely smashing. A nice fellow on the other table had just said that he had the best sandwich ever. However, upon discovering it was tuna I respectfully disagreed because that simply isn’t possible. Upon having my own sandwich I can see from his perspective that it may well have been. The Muker Tea Shop: changing strongly held opinions. The service was excellent. Everyone was wonderfully friendly and if anyone called anyone ‘love’ then I’m sure it would have been considered entirely normal because we’re in Yorkshire where people are nice! (Apologies but please read the review where the guy complained about this!) Probably… the best tea shop in the world. I really mean that. This is well worth a visit regardless of where you are. I think Michelin define it as worth a special trip or something. Muker is made better by this existing, and it’s already a lovely place. Well done!

I am gonna be honest, I was soooo happy to see this coffee shop because I really needed to go to the toilet, because in the national park it is hard to find a toilet and I was surprised that they are there (I visited a few national parks, and there is not a single bar or coffee shop in miles) so very happy to find then. And second, the lady was so nice, very friendly. Me and my brother order jack potato and I am telling you, it was a quality plate, (I love jack potato so I may sound exaggerated haha) simple but really nice. Also I took a piece of cake and was delicious. Beautiful place, beautiful views, I was in love!

Great choice for a family meal as part of a Dales mini-break. Superb welcome from Paul, fabulous food prepared by pam - all in a wonderfully designed restaurant. If you are staying in or near Hawes, this is a definitely a restaurant to experience...

Charming ambience… subtle lighting… warm and welcoming. We had the smaller tasting menu. The food was superbly presented , delicious flavours with exciting combinations and seasonal influences… this food rivals the Fat Duck and L Enclume as well as the Raby Hunt but at a fraction of the price … Congratulations to this stunningly talented young chef and his team. The wines too were sensibly priced with a good selection to choose from…. We work in hospitality so feel well place to assess… we know what hard work goes into it to keep very high standards… An amazing place on the up and coming …. I was enjoying the Swim up and down the lengths a great pool while peter was watching and when finished got chained and we both went in for coffee and cake we had a great time

Just an outstanding place to stay! The owners think of everything and nothing is too much trouble. Luxurious yet affordable...

Went to my son's wedding which we had a good time because we made that time good. The food service was good. What lets the place down is that signage could be much better if you didn't have satellite navigation to find the place. On the grounds same again just make the signage stand out much better it would save people getting confused. ONE THING I DIND UNFAIR TO LADIES there is no where in your manual that LADIES can't wear bathrobe to breakfast after getting makeup done but not ready to get dressed then your staff choosing who they turn away because not all staff implement that procedure if it is something to follow put it in your manual. And the other thing you need to put up signs restricting speed down to 10 mph because one of your member of staff was doing roughly doing 25mph and nearly smashed into my car as I was about to leave and they should know better than anybody else.

We have just enjoyed a terrific take away afternoon tea. This included a selection of sandwiches, cheese scone, half porkpie, tray bakes and a jam and cream scone. All were home baked and freshly made. Previously we have eaten the afternoon tea, and other meals, in the tea shop, and everything was delicious! The team there are lovely and the service is friendly and welcoming.

Highly recommend visiting for fish Friday or Sunday lunch! Food is amazing with large portion sizes. All home cooked and freshly made to order! Well worth a visit

Mi esposa y yo cenamos aquí para San Valentín y fue increíble, el servicio era genial y la comida era de 5 estrellas, cada artículo de comida se sirvió perfectamente y estaba perfectamente cocinado. Esta fue con mucho una de las mejores experiencias gastronómicas que hemos tenido. El personal es encantador y no tienes prisa en absoluto. Las habitaciones te llevan atrás en el tiempo, que es genial de ver y mientras estábamos allí tenían un fuego abierto rugiendo lejos, que lo hizo sentir muy acogedor.

What a lovely find, excellent food & a warm welcome

Everything about The Saddle Room Restaurant was perfect. A Gluten free request for one guest was specified when we placed the booking. When we arrived the Gluten free menu was waiting for us on the table, the bread roll that arrived was gluten free for that guest, all the dishes for both gluten-free and standard menu were delicious. Can honestly say if we lived closer this would be our regular visit. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant!

What a beautiful village Bainbridge is and with a Tea Room/Bakery in a prime location. A huge disappointment was not at all what I was expecting.. No welcome when entering the establishment. I sat at a table observing that there were five other patrons, two tables of two and a single gentlemen. I read the menu and was looking forward to ordering a cooked breakfast. I sat for a total of 23 minutes whilst a young man served tea, bacon rolls and scones to the other patron he never ONCE acknowledged my presence. I eventually decided to leave. Not sure how to draw a positive from this experience, but I shall not be recommending it in my reviews here or elsewhere. Visit 27/03/2025

Came here for dinner. Warm welcome at the bar, had a drink before being taken to our table. Great menu but also a specials board to choose from. I had the scallops to start which were delicious. I then had the "Cod Special ". It came with mash ( so creamy) and a side plate filled with vegetables. It was perfectly cooked and plenty of it. There was a lovely atmosphere, really friendly staff and nice and busy. We finished off our evening with drinks NY the bar in the cosy bar. A fantastic night, we will be back.
