After clambering around Middleham Castle in this very pretty village, we crossed the road to this delightful Tea Room to a very warm welcome, and the enjoyment of a delicious afternoon tea.Whilst we were there,we became aware that the Priory was residential, and were shown around this beautifully appointed accommodation. The rooms are stunning, each room themed and colour coordinated, with a very cosy lounge to relax in. This super hotel is not licensed to sell alcohol, but guests are allowed to bring their own, and may keep some in the fridge if required. We were so impressed that we are definitely going to stay there sometime next year.

My husband and I popped in for some afternoon tea after spending some time exploring Middleham Castle. I had a raspberry and elderflower sponge and my husband had a scone. The sponge cake was beautifully light with lovely flavoured filling and just the right amount of raspberries in the sponge so that it wasn't soggy. My husband said that the scone was the best he'd ever tasted. Good choice of tea as well. Friendly and efficient service. Would certainly go back if we're in the area again. There is also a guest house; if the breakfasts are as good as the teas then it would be well worth staying there.

I may have already added a previous review but after a visit yesterday, I feel inclined to add another! A sunny day outside with a warmed cheese scone and onion marmalade and real butter and of course, the obligatory cup of tea is not to be missed! This is also a B&B and has a holiday cottage at the rear but we have not stayed as yet but the accommodation looks lovely and clean. As for the tea room, it is hard not to work through the cakes whilst on holiday and with walks on the doorstep, why not! Fresh, home cooked food and friendly owners and staff make this a place we are drawn too and when busy, we will walk about the town of Middleham until a seat becomes free - it's that good! Prices are very reasonable for the high standard of food.

We popped into The Priory on a rainy day in June, after visiting Middleham Castle. It was the only tearoom we could find open mid-morning. Very glad this was the case, as we found a good selection of paninis & toasties served with crisps and a small side salad, along with home-made cakes. They also know how to make a good hot chocolate with whipped cream! The raspberry & elderflower cake is particularly delicious, and the overall setting & decor of the period property is lovely.

This tea room is an oasis of calm. A beautiful room (with an open fire on a chilly day), spotlessly clean, nice furniture and really friendly and thoughtful staff. Not everywhere in Yorkshire is prepared for those who need gluten free goodies, but this is. During the week I was staying locally, they provided me with the best ever gluten free bacon sandwich, home made gluten free cheese scones with a little hit of cayenne pepper, and a slice of delicious lemon cake. All of these were served with no fuss but with friendly conversation. The tea room is peaceful - and there are plenty of goodies for those who eat gluten as well. Everything they serve is of the highest quality, and they always make sure that they cook things to suit your tastes. Just lovely - highly recommended!
