Another fantastic meal here. Need to come more than we do. Portion sizes are huge and the quality of food is unbelievable. Fantastic hosts and a warm family atmosphere. Definitely recommend this place for everyone to try. I had crispy sweet chili beef starter and pork chops for main. Delicious

Huge portion of lasagne with side of salad and chips and garlic bread. It was massive. Could offer a smaller portion to save waste. Too much rocket. Lights too bright in dining area. 10 shades in each ceiling fitment and were clise together. A dimmer or lower wattage bulbs would add to a cosier atmosphere. Staff friendly. Good value for money.

I have travelled throughout the UK and eaten Full English Breakfasts in many hotels, pubs and restaurants. The one I had at Classic Cafe yesterday was the tastiest, hottest I have ever had. Cooked to perfection. The service, was as always, great. On my list for a revisit. Close to Doncaster, Bawtry and the A1M. Give it a try, you won't regret it. Phil and Ann Batson, Bessacarr,Doncaster

Stayed in the Queen Victoria room/suite for 2 nights for son/daughter in laws wedding (Aug, 17 2024). It was a wonderful wedding venue, think Victorian-gothic stately home with a quirky vibe & charm that is unique to old English country houses. Bear in mind this is an ancient house & has a few quirks with the plumbing -so if you have a perfection complex you're clearly more of a travel lodge type! The staff were delightful, helpful, patient & all round fabulous; they were also attentive & proactive in attending to any issues & requests. Highly recommended. The grounds are awesome! Mary D.

A group of ten of us booked a table to celebrate my birthday. On the day we received a call to say that the boiler had broken and therefore the restaurant couldn't open. However, they pulled out all the stops to make sure our evening was not ruined. They re-seated us in a private dining room in the Hilton hotel next door and the chef, waiting staff, menus etc all came across too. Essentially it was exactly the same just sat in a different dining room. The menu had some lovely choices on there and every single meal was both delicious and well presented. The staff could not have been more attentive and attention was paid to every detail. Huge thanks to all the staff for making sure my birthday celebration could continue to go ahead, and for making it a great evening. I would highly recommend.

Called on the off chance haven’t been for about 4 years. We ordered fish and chips with peas and tartare sauce. The fish was absolutely beautiful and so were the chips etc. the batter was light and crisp and cooked to perfection. Massive portions. A little more expensive than pub grub but it was far better so didn’t mind. Will be going again!

We decided to book the restaurant on the back of the excellent reviews. Before visiting the restaurant I also had a look at the menus & they seemed really appealing. We had the prawn skewers & ham terrine for starters , and we both had the “special “ of the lamb curry at £26.50. The ham hock terrine was nice, but the prawn starter was £10 for 5 prawns on a slice of naan bread with a few accompaniments. I tasted a prawn & in my opinion they were just ok, nothing great. When we tasted the lamb in the curry, it was not at all tender like you would expect. The accompanying relishes were a tiny ( ie approx 1/2 teaspoon ) of lime pickle , some mango chutney , rice, naan & pappadom. It wasn’t the prices so much, as being in the Lake District we expected this given the inflated prices usually experienced. For me it was the “ordinary” quality of the food. The quality was nothing special that would make me want to return. I of course cannot be sure, but for example in my view, the naan breads were too uniform in size , texture & taste, making me wonder about their origin ( shop bought vs made In House ?, I will never know ). And yes, the curry came with , for example , lime pickle, but the portion was so small, it felt meaningless. I am respectful of others opinions within the reviews on this site, but I will not be returning.

On entering this classic local pub we felt welcomed and relaxed. There is a dog friendly area inside therefore we were able to have a nice drink and the most perfectly cooked Sunday dinner with our labradoodle regardless of the weather. A separate area is available for those without there best friend alongside. The chef obviously takes pride in creating an excellent traditional meal, he proudly plates your choice of 2 out of 3 meats available. Generous slices of moist meat are then complemented by your choice from several freshly cooked vegetables, nothing but perfectly cooked delightful and colourful vegetables. The gravy is also to die for and a cheese sauce tops this very delightful meal. I would happily pay twice the price. Get down to the Waterside Inn in West Sockwith, ITS AMAZING.

Had the most amazing bottomless brunch at the Jazz Cafe! First time I’ve ever had bottomless brunch and been to the jazz cafe and it did not disappoint - the food was amazing, Prosecco flowing and cocktails were amazing! There were quite a few large hen parties in and although we were only a small group of 6 the service was still amazing! We really enjoyed the afternoon and can’t wait to do it again 😍
