Madge brought me to see the market place. There is a large indoor market with lots of additional stalls spread about outside. One of the best UK markets we have been to. As you would hope there are plenty of pubs and bars around the market. ( Traditional to get drunk on market days!) Spotted this ale house selling five real ales. Madge ordered a half from Welbeck brewery. Red Feather 3.9%. A good beer. As usual the " coming soon" list has beers from breweries new to me. Nice interior and outside seating in front. Perfect on a cloudy summer day.

Cannot fault the amazing experience. Was down on a work course for the week and couldn't find a more relaxed and great place to have a drink. Apologies I didn't get the chaps name behind the bar, but you've done an absolute fantastic job. A brilliant establishment. If I'm ever back in Doncaster I'll be popping back. Thank you for the great hospitality.

Perhaps the most beautiful and interestingly designed small real ale pub I've been in, and there have been many! Late Sunday afternoon it was very quiet, just a few others plus me. Soon got into conversation though and found two persons very happy to extol the virtues of drinking in the M.P. Stuart poured excellent beers. Couple of those and unfortunately it was time to leave. Will be back if in the area.

They have only 4 taps of real ales but no bottle any more. Expensive for Donny, 1.80 a half or 3.60 a pint. Old review Lovely place with 10 taps and loads of bottles. We went for a drink on Saturday afternoon as we have many times before. There are lots of gin selections & a wide variety of beers, which my husband & his friend enjoy. The barmaid was very accommodating by letting my hubby & his friend have a small sample of the beers they wanted to try before purchasing. She was very knowledgeable & recommended specific ones & the reasons behind her recommendations. Upon returning to the bar the male mos was at the bar, my husband asked him if they ever served a particular local ale & was met with a lot of foul language about the quality of the beer & abuse and foul language about the guy that brewed it. My husband was taken aback as it was quite a diatribe of abuse. The man was not very engaging with any customers, total opposite of the two women & didn’t smell very pleasant as my friend kept getting a whiff of him when he walked by. He was constantly getting up & wiping the sides of his mouth with blue roll but never washed his hands or sanitised afterwards, which in these Covid times was a bit concerning.

... in the worst sense. Nothing could be too little trouble and we were greeted as if we'd just crawled in from under a rock somewhere. No 'hello', just a barmaid facing away telling someone else to serve the two of us beofre she disappeared. A scruffy curmudgeon reluctantly shuffled up behind the bar and silently deigned to pull us two pints. How an orange-chocolate stout and a golden session ale manage to taste the same, I haven't a clue, but they did. The predominant flavour was 'water'. This was a Friday lunchtime and four other people were in the otherwise empty bar. "Can we order some food?" I asked. "Oh," came a wary, grunted response, the barman really not wanting to have anything to do with my wife and I, "Oh..."It'll take a while. We've got four lunches to do ." 'How long is a while then?" I asked. "Oh... twenty minutes, maybe more...." For a panini? He didn't even know what we wanted. This place is the encapsulation of everything that's wrong with Yorkshire* hospitality. Avoid like the plague. *I'm York born and bred and live here...

I messaged them on Facebook to see if there was anything interesting on tap. I also managed to reserve a table via Facebook, on a Friday. Not too busy when I got there and my table had been reserved. I had forgotten to bring cash. They do do card but the minimum spend is 5 pounds so she pointed me to a nearby cash machine. They'd run out of the beer I wanted on tap but they had 4 other beers to choose from. They do like to support breweries from Yorkshire which is nice. You should check in via the NHS app, she bought the QR code to my table ;-)

Coldish saturday afternoon in December. Every pub and bar in town was packed to overflowing, but this small pub, (micro pub really) sandwiched between two other pubs was quieter with spare seating. Started with a local brew, sat outside and conversed congenially with a local. Went inside for second drink. Fancied something different and asked if a wheat beer was available. The lady said no. A gent at the bar said they had Leffe if I wanted Belgian and pointed to a bottle on the shelf. Next to it I noticed a bottle of "Blue Moon". I suggested this was in a wheat beer, but she was adamant it was not - it was a "white" beer. I insisted and she inspected it and then agreed it was indeed wheat. She did apologise, but I was disappointed I had to tell her about her job. The beer was enjoyable. Did not eat, but looking at the blackboard I would say it was more light snacks than proper meals but prices looked ok.

If there's one bar I know I am going to visit on any trip to Doncaster I take its Marketplace Alehouse & Deli. This is a great looking bar,its not massive but it's good, great decor and furnishings including a cool looking serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this bar despite its relatively small size and plenty of seating options outside looking out onto the busy and bustling market place. Our race club chose Doncaster for this years racing weekend and this bar was one of the first we visited. After a quick study of the beers on offer my brother and I both opted to have a pale ale each, these were served in excellent condition, we just chilled out and took in the great bar we were in. My pale ale was outstanding, a rich, malty, hoppy and well balanced pale ale bursting with taste, very easy to drink,a beer style both myself and my twin brother Stephen really enjoy. We really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time . The Marketplace Alehouse & Deli is easy to locate on Market Place . A great bar,if your in the area, well worth checking out.

On a very cold, wet day at the beginning of April, 4 of us were looking for somewhere to have a spot of lunch and to get out of the cold. We saw the Marketplace Alehouse and, decided on this lunch stop. After reading the reviews on TA, I am wondering if the people who served us were temporary staff, as our experience did not match the others. The older guy behind the bar was the most surly, miserable person we have ever had the pleasure to meet. We made our choice and the food took ages to appear and the person who served the food wasn't much better. The drayman from the brewery then made an appearance to deliver the beer casks, propping the door open. This was left open for 10 minutes, bearing in mind it was a freezing day and the place wasn't very warm to start (we had all left our coats on in any case). So, eventually we asked if they would mind closing the door "man behind bar" wasn't happy, but eventually did close the door. The food was nothing to write home about and we couldn't wait to get out. Would certainly not return after our experience, but like I say, maybe they were temporary staff?

Decided to try as we were both cold and hungry . There are tables inside and out but today was definitely an indoor day. We got a good seat and ordered drinks and food. The drinks were from a range of real ales and lagers and we plumped for a large sharing platter which came to a reasonable £14.20. The drinks were good and kept well and went really well with our mixed continental meats platter. The platter had plenty for the 2 of us and was very tasty. There were other platters to choose from and we will certainly return to try the others next time we visit Doncaster. Highly recommend 👍

Originally from Doncaster now live in Sheffield, visiting family so thought we'd try this place mainly because of its good reviews, in all honesty I can't see how it's got such a high rating, the drinks were good with a good selection, but the tables were rickety, floors dirty, toilet looked like it could do with a bottle of bleach, generally just looks a bit grotty.Food was acceptable but far from top notch, cheap baguettes, cheap cheese, just all abit basic and something anyone could put together with a quick trip to Morrisons,it's far from artisan produce(which is how it's described) and as for the tapas, not great. This place obviously does well because thank goodness for the owner it's got no real competition in the surrounding area We won't be returning anytime soon

This seems to be a new venture run by a younger management and though sited on the market is aimed squarely at the upper, bistro, hipster crowd. It appears to be a converted butchers shop or perhaps fishmongers but the interior has been transformed into a delightful quirky sort of place. wooden floors and shelving and a little craft beer corner where you can buy a takeaway beer. The menu is a mix of platters and homemade burger lunches, the platters are themed and good value. We opted for the Mediterranean and an English platters served on the wooden boards with bread and dipping oil. We had two excellent if expensive ales, a breakfast porter and a wonderfully hoppy IPA (together costing over £12 for two pints but worth it) and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Definitely worth a visit.

Thought I would pop in for a quick lunch. Menu sounded good and when it came it looked great. Unfortunately the place seemed like it was In between phases. Things had changed but had not been finished and I couldn't have a coffee as the machine was not ready. Staff were friendly and will visit again to see the end transformation

We went on Saturday 7th may for my friends birthday .. We booked in advance. Small place , but great atmosphere and something different for Doncaster. We had drinks & food .. Both tapas & a couple of the deli boards , absolutely delicious ! We couldn't believe how cheap it was . Will definitely be returning :)

Found this place by chance, took a week to book a table as chockablock when I wanted to go.Was well worth the wait. Food was lovely, good value for money and extremely tastey. Excellent choice of real ale. Friendly staff. My only negative comment would be that my reserved table had been taken over by a large group who were waiting for the rest of their party to arrive. Luckily there was another table for us to sit at.

Good ales and fantastic platter boards; Italian, Spanish, Mediterranean, French, British etc with a warm welcoming atmosphere. I like the style of decor, but slight pity about the fact the chairs & tables are all wobbly & quite cramped. Give it a try

Went to a friends birthday here, spent 4-5 hours here drinking and eating. The bar is small and the staff good. The decor is really nicely done: kind of up-cycled wood and loads of old stuff on the walls, which in my opinion helped make it feel welcoming and comfortable. The selection of beers is great, both draft and bottled. There's also a decent amount of wine to try. The food we had was a lot of the tapas platters which I believe are the regular menu. Good quality and very tasty. Overall I'd recommend to anyone looking for a relaxed evening out in Doncaster.

This place is a gem! It reminds me of some bars in Bruges. No loud music, just in the background if at all, the hum of people talking, great beer, great service and whilst I've not tried the food I am definitely going to have to, it looks brill. At one point a group got a bit rowdy they were politely told to keep it down...brilliant. Thank you staff.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel with another couple. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay, from the food, staff and fantastic rooms. It was like walking back in time. We will definitely return.

On entering this classic local pub we felt welcomed and relaxed. There is a dog friendly area inside therefore we were able to have a nice drink and the most perfectly cooked Sunday dinner with our labradoodle regardless of the weather. A separate area is available for those without there best friend alongside. The chef obviously takes pride in creating an excellent traditional meal, he proudly plates your choice of 2 out of 3 meats available. Generous slices of moist meat are then complemented by your choice from several freshly cooked vegetables, nothing but perfectly cooked delightful and colourful vegetables. The gravy is also to die for and a cheese sauce tops this very delightful meal. I would happily pay twice the price. Get down to the Waterside Inn in West Sockwith, ITS AMAZING.

Spoilt my 30th birthday party! Do not hold your event here!! Below is the issues I had and the Email I sent…they did respond to the email and gave me a £120 refund (bare in mind the party was nearly £1,000) but that’s beside the point people need an insight to what that they are really like and not to pay good money to hold their events there just to have them ruined. Staff need retraining and be shown how organise, plan and deal correctly with clients. All the staff just pass the blame for their failures from one to another. This is the email I sent and all the issues I had so make up your own mind but I would definitely AVOID. Hi (events manager name) When I arrived at castle park on Friday afternoon on 23/08/24 I needed things moving around in the room I was there over 2 hours and nobody was on hand and in the end my family and the lady from the other events company offered to help because there wasn’t time to wait for yourself or someone else to it when I’d already been there over 2 hours. The table that had been left out for my cake only had 3 and a half legs which if my cake had gone on to it would have fallen off so again my family had to source another table then I needed a table cloth for it and we asked a member of staff where they were and they had no idea. The children’s buffet was missing items, the sandwich’s, the unlimited juice also the children’s buffet should have been on a separate table and it wasn’t. There was tuna sandwich’s when I asked for there not to be. There wasn’t any spoons for people to put dips on to their plates None of the sandwiches were labelled so people couldn’t tell what they were until they took a bite. Some of the food was over cooked, burnt and definitely not homemade as stated. Upon my mum raising the issues of the night to the catering manager she was met with an awful attitude, him raising my voice to my mum (to which my brother had to step in and asked him not to shout at her) and was given no apology. I am highly disappointed because all of this put a negative mood on my party night and spoilt it which shouldn’t happen I also didn’t get things I had paid for with also isn’t right. Absolutely awful organisation and customer service this isn’t what I expected from yourselves after attending other events with you. I know there was other events going on, on the same day and it was busy but a business such as yourselves should be able to deal with more than 1 event at a time and there is no excuse for these failings. Right from January I dealt with you, days when you weren’t there I was asked to call back when you were in which I did and you took all the details so for my mum to be told you were the new events manager because the other got sacked for promising things you couldn’t for fill is not right either when I’d only ever dealt with you. I would appreciate a swift response to this email.
