On entering this classic local pub we felt welcomed and relaxed. There is a dog friendly area inside therefore we were able to have a nice drink and the most perfectly cooked Sunday dinner with our labradoodle regardless of the weather. A separate area is available for those without there best friend alongside. The chef obviously takes pride in creating an excellent traditional meal, he proudly plates your choice of 2 out of 3 meats available. Generous slices of moist meat are then complemented by your choice from several freshly cooked vegetables, nothing but perfectly cooked delightful and colourful vegetables. The gravy is also to die for and a cheese sauce tops this very delightful meal. I would happily pay twice the price. Get down to the Waterside Inn in West Sockwith, ITS AMAZING.

Pop for lunch on my day off. We both had the pizza. I can honestly say they were delicious and filling. Better than some expensive pizza takeaways. The owners are both polite & friendly, the pub has a lovely & warm atmosphere. We had such a lovely lunch that we popped back a few days later for a drink with friends

Brought my visiting brother and his disabled son to the Waterfront for the Sunday Carvery. The welcome we received and the food were both excellent. The owners went out of their way to make my disabled nephew feel special. The Carvery was delicious, as always. The Waterfront is what an English Pub used to be like in the UK. Friendly, clean and very welcoming. Thank you

Myself, Youngest Son and Best friend in the summer months go to the bike nights on a Thursday, food is always delicious, pie, chips, peas and gravy with mint sauce mmmmmmmm, always freshly cooked. The staff are spot on and you can have a laugh with them, never had a bad meal in the last 2 years, personally can't speak for the beer as none of us drink and fly, correction sorry ride!. Absolutely recommend the place, and plenty of bike's on a Thursday night. Keep up the good work, and thank you .

Used to come here 20 years ago and the food was amazing then, outside neat and tidy with hanging baskets and pots of plants . Sadly it's now now a bit tatty outside with some scruffy wicker chairs on the decking and food just average, but quite nice inside , dog friendly area, and staff were friendly and helpful , still a nice place to sit and view the marina ( from behind the fake ivy!) and will return but beware the parking issues !

Went here for an evening drink with my husband. Saw the car park notice which said car parking for customers only. As we were customers, we thought we were OK so did not feel the need to read the small print or the other signage. Bought a total of four drinks then left. Three weeks later we received a car parking charge. My husband went to the pub and spoke to the landlord who was extremely aggressive and rude and shouted at my husband that he would fix it. Two week later we got another letter saying that the charge had escalated to £100 because we hadn't responded to the first letter. We went again to the pub and asked to see the landlord. He said he had cancelled the fine so it must have been a computer error and he said again he would fix it. My husband questioned if he was sure because he said he had said he had fixed it before and it hadn't worked and we didn't want the fine to escalated even further. He then got extremely aggressive again and accused my husband of calling him a liar! My husband had not called him a liar, but was only explaining to him his concerns. In the end we came home and paid the fine because we couldn't risk it again. We could have followed it up further but who wants the hassle? If you want a pleasant evening and meal don't go to this pub. The landlord is an extremely aggressive and rude person and obviously does not value his polite customers

Unfortunately not this time, I asked for a bowl of water for the dogs along with our drinks (something that has never been a problem here before) but was met by a lot of derogatory comments about dog owners including “people need to get over themselves they are not fur babies they have 4 legs and lick their own ar*e” all this for just a bowl of water! We visited this pub having had an awful experience at another in the village while staying at a local campsite. The staff welcomed us despite it being a busy Saturday night and despite being a party of five with three dogs. We had a spacious table with plenty of room for the dogs to chill out. The menu was extensive with something for everyone. The youngest member of our party fancied something that wasn’t on the menu and the chef made it specially for him. The lady serving us was knowledgeable about the menu and able to make recommendations (the rabbit pie was absolutely delicious and the pasty crust was melt in the mouth). Great landlord, great service, delicious food and a warm welcome. Massive choice of food on the menu and don’t forget the dessert board! We will definitely revisit this great establishment.

We went on our travels to find a different place to call our 'local' carvery' after feeling ripped off at the place we used to go. l'm afraid to say we are still going to be looking after a visit here. Yes the place is clean and the staff friendly. A slight delay in service due to the 'roasties' not being done on time. Roasties to me are potato chunks cooked in beef dripping. These were chunks of tates done in the deep fryer. Yorkshire pudding was from 'Bookers'. It doesn't take much effort to cook your own yorkies, flour eggs milk and a drop of water! 4 meats on offer. The Ham was suffering from heat lamp stress and going hard. Broc and cauli well cooked and a good cheese sauce. Mashed carrot and swede...no thanks and peas. Only 4 other folk in the conservatory. Stayed here overnight on the car park in our motorhome. Immediately upon arrival we were made to feel welcome by a young woman who said she was the chef. As usual when staying on someone's car park we booked a table for our evening meal. When we walked in it was quiet but we were greeted by this larger than life personality that we later learned was a relief manager as the owners were away on holiday. It was a limited menu but this indicated to me having worked In the trade that the food probably was genuinely all freshly made in house. When we saw the meals coming out of the kitchen we could see we were in for a treat. My parter had homemade pie which was truly and pie. It had a top and a bottom and it was delicious. I had one of the specials "stroganoff" again it was very tasty. How lucky the owners are to have these two people looking after their interest whilst away. They are a Credit. I hope it's as good on our next visit

Love this place. Friendly and committed. They go above and beyond here to make you feel welcome always doing their bit to support local businesses and the community. The setting is perfect and the breakfast I had was excellent.

Called in for a simple light lunch, not knowing what was on offer. Settled for jacket potatoes with salad followed by scrumptious home made cake, full of jam and butter cream with fresh cream on the side.Rainy day so we ate in the charming tea room overlooking the marina. Everything tasted first class, charming service, good value for money. Must go back soon and try something more substantial.

This is a great pub and if the weather is nice they have plenty of seating outside looking onto the marina. They have live music on a saturday evening which we thoroughly enjoyed, the landlords are friendly and welcoming and today we went and sampled their Sunday lunch which was lovely. They now have a tea room which have lovely cakes which they didn't have last time we visited and dogs are welcome both inside and outside.

Within throwing distance of the basin where all the boats moor either from the River Trent or the Chesterfield Canal this place is a hive for locals and boat owners alike. In desperate need of a little TLC the pubs hosts very cheerful staff that make you welcome and work tirelessly to assist you in every way. There are no airs and graces here a pig is a pig and a duck is a duck. The care park is large with an entrance to a camping site along side where caravans can park and enjoy the river, the canal or just to do nothing. The glamping huts are being installed as the pictures show but they are very small and maybe for some and not others. The food at the pub is basic but good, home cooked food at its best, cheap and cheerful with nothing special, just how lots of boat owners probably like traditional English. It is not the sort of place I would take the wife for a Saturday evening meal but a matter of taste really. They put on breakfast up to 11.00 am during the week inc. Saturdays so that would save lots of boat people the messing around with two medium breakfasts for £10 got to be a bargain at that.I don't think I would go again but you never know, If I get a boat maybe I will get into the habit !!

Sunday lunch.. Looking for a change from our usual haunts in the Lincs Wolds, we came across some great reviews for this waterside pub.. The reviews were correct. A warm welcome and a top quality traditional carvery Sunday Lunch. Sitting Outside with a view over the small marina on the banks of the Trent, we enjoyed a perfectly cooked selection of roast meats & vegetables. All this and excellent value!.. We'll be returning.

Dropped in on spec as we had not been in for more than a decade. We were pleasantly surprised and when we saw the menu, we were up for some chunks of meat. Very impressed with our steaks. We had a chat with the landlady about what had been changed since we had last been in and she told us all about the pub also being a teashop in the afternoon. The missus was very interested in this and intends to return with her "ladies who lunch" friends.Thoroughly recommendable.

Spoilt my 30th birthday party! Do not hold your event here!! Below is the issues I had and the Email I sent…they did respond to the email and gave me a £120 refund (bare in mind the party was nearly £1,000) but that’s beside the point people need an insight to what that they are really like and not to pay good money to hold their events there just to have them ruined. Staff need retraining and be shown how organise, plan and deal correctly with clients. All the staff just pass the blame for their failures from one to another. This is the email I sent and all the issues I had so make up your own mind but I would definitely AVOID. Hi (events manager name) When I arrived at castle park on Friday afternoon on 23/08/24 I needed things moving around in the room I was there over 2 hours and nobody was on hand and in the end my family and the lady from the other events company offered to help because there wasn’t time to wait for yourself or someone else to it when I’d already been there over 2 hours. The table that had been left out for my cake only had 3 and a half legs which if my cake had gone on to it would have fallen off so again my family had to source another table then I needed a table cloth for it and we asked a member of staff where they were and they had no idea. The children’s buffet was missing items, the sandwich’s, the unlimited juice also the children’s buffet should have been on a separate table and it wasn’t. There was tuna sandwich’s when I asked for there not to be. There wasn’t any spoons for people to put dips on to their plates None of the sandwiches were labelled so people couldn’t tell what they were until they took a bite. Some of the food was over cooked, burnt and definitely not homemade as stated. Upon my mum raising the issues of the night to the catering manager she was met with an awful attitude, him raising my voice to my mum (to which my brother had to step in and asked him not to shout at her) and was given no apology. I am highly disappointed because all of this put a negative mood on my party night and spoilt it which shouldn’t happen I also didn’t get things I had paid for with also isn’t right. Absolutely awful organisation and customer service this isn’t what I expected from yourselves after attending other events with you. I know there was other events going on, on the same day and it was busy but a business such as yourselves should be able to deal with more than 1 event at a time and there is no excuse for these failings. Right from January I dealt with you, days when you weren’t there I was asked to call back when you were in which I did and you took all the details so for my mum to be told you were the new events manager because the other got sacked for promising things you couldn’t for fill is not right either when I’d only ever dealt with you. I would appreciate a swift response to this email.

I think they are in my top five of good fish and chips, and are good value for money. The fish tastes really fresh, and the chips are nice and crispI did notice one thing that I didn't like on my last visit- when the tables were cleared, the jugs of left over milk were topped up and given to new customersThis isn't very hygienic, ' the tables are small, and the milk has been coughed and sneezed over, plus droplets of saliva may have gone in it while speaking over it.Also people may have not washed their hands after using the toilet, and have been handling the jugI think all the jugs should be emptied and washed up properly after each useI realise they are trying to save money by using less milk, but this practice is not acceptable. If there is a lot of milk left in each jug, then they are putting too much in in the first place, and should put less in.The customer can always ask for a top up.I tried to find an email address, but couldn't, so perhaps they will read this, and do something about it, as it rally puts me off now that I have seen this happening. The only other point I would make is that the chairs aren't moveable , so if you're a bit bigger than average, it could be a bit of a squeeze.
