The Newton Arms in Doncaster

We did pre book a table. Portions look really big. Tables are served in order of their orders being placed which is very obvious and very fair. The burgers looked massive and so did the pie. I opted for tagliatelle which was absolutely full of flavour and something I would happily order again. Very friendly staff.

Went for food on a quiet Tuesday evening, food was lovely, we were only asked if the food was okay after we'd practically finished, so had there been an issue we'd have been waiting a while to complain. After our food we were asked if we wanted a dessert menu which we said yes, we waited 15mins for a menu and didn't receive one as the staff were busy gassing at the bar, there were only 4 other tables in at the time so it wasn't busy at all and we decided to leave instead. Great food, just lacking care and attention for service, I could understand forgetting to fetch a menu if it was busy but it wasn't, they were just more bothered about talking to each other.

Great Family Pub with outdoor play space for the kids and a large heated outdoor space for adults too. Great Food and dessert. Larger Expensive £5.10 a Pint!

Lovely to see such a busy pub (recommend booking) Visited to day and had carvery for the first time and it was absolutely delicious!! Just like dinner was years ago at the Manvers (you’ve still got the nack guys) the BEST Carvery in Doncaster absolutely piping hot as it should be, homemade proper food. The meat was so tender which you never get anywhere else! Nothing to fault at all! Everything was just perfect we enjoyed every bit. Also plenty of staff on so wasn’t kept waiting and they were all so polite, real service with a smile, thank you….we will be back for sure. Keep up the excellent work Karen, Craig and the team

Was recommended this place by a pal and certainly lived up to expectations. The pies were tremendous, as good as I've ever had. The staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning.

Absolutely the best ,,bar,, food and service anywhere

Every Wednesday I attend the Newton to participate in the Redtooth Poker League, and the individuals who attend make the atmosphere outstanding. Both the Landlord and Landlady are very accommodating and always make us feel welcome.

Massively disappointed with our meal this evening. Ordered our favourite, pork and honey mustard sauce. The pork was not cooked, it had been cremated. Dry as a bone, griddle scorched and as tough as leather. Being a 70 year old with a mouth full of plastic the cooking of any meat is massively important. It was almost inedible. I felt aggrieved paying £51 for 3 meals when two were not up to scratch and a single round of drinks. The chef may not be a chef - no love in his / her preparation! / presentation. Sorry, just not impressed. It has been a lot better.

No matter what day you visit, you will always get a great welcome from Karen & Craig & there fantastic staff. You will definitely never be disappointed by the lovely food either, an extensive menu is bound cater for your needs. Today myself & my wife had the Salmon & Prawn Linguine which was delicious, we actually thought we had bottomless bowls, as there was such a lot there for the price. Our favourite place to visit & we can’t wait to go back..

Another lovely meal in a pleasant setting

We called in for lunch after a hospital appointment with mum. Me, mum, my sister and mums neighbour and we all agreed how lovely it was. Friendly and very pleasant staff plus we all really enjoyed the food. Would definitely recommend and return ourselves ❤️

A lovely little independent pub Massive rear beer garden with a kids play area. The play area needs some serious work or replacing. It has been left to the elements and so has the beer garden tables. It needs some money spending on the beer garden to make it an inviting place again. Look at my photos, what a difference a year makes.! The food here is amazing, especially the Sunday carvery

6.95 for frozen salmon fishcakes, hardly a bit of salmon in them. Fish and chips came with a salad?? Greasy onion rings, mixed grill was hard as nails,barely chewable and dry. chicken tikka well the less said about that the better 🤢 tried to charge twice for drinks even though we paid as we went along as there were a few of us. Highly NOT recommended. Given the death stare as we walked out, I even said thank you 🤣 their only saving grace was the garlic mushrooms 🍄 .

Sunday lunch was great as usual, well done chef, keep up the good work.

Lovely pub with separate eating and drinking areas, also offering outdoor seating - drinking area shows live sport and has a dart board.

We had pie chips peas it was absolutely gorgeous the pie was divine it oozed with stake and gravy it was cooked perfectly. Staff couldn’t do enough for us. I will be trying the Sunday lunch in the near future

Haven't been in a while so thought I would make a visit. Service was pretty good but food was a little less than average certainly for the price. Not much of an atmosphere.

Just visited The Newton for Sunday carvery. I have visited many times before and it doesn't let me down. I had the mince pie today for a change, the pastry was nice and crisp with a tasty filling. All of the vegetables and potatoes were hot, with homemade Yorkshire puddings. If you want a good honest Sunday carvery, I would recommend The Newton.

The foods really nice, the staff are ok, can be quite a wait sometimes but worth the visit if you are in the area, book if you can as it can be busy depending on the day you go.

Fabulous menu. Plenty of choice. Food was fresh and home cooked and presented amazing. Service was excellent especially by Dave. Will be definitely be returning and would recommend.

First time visit, tried it out for Sunday lunch, we managed a disabled parking space, then a nice steady walk to the door. Easy access, where we met the meet and greet. Informed our table wasn’t ready but by the time we had got our drink we were shown to the table. We order the meal tickets and straight to the carvery lunch. Excellent choice and all nice and hot. Got to say I was impressed by the visit, friendly staff, good food and reasonably priced. Will definitely be visiting again.

Visited the Newton with friends for their Sunday carvery last weekend. It was busy so I'm glad we'd booked! The food was delicious and cooked well with plenty of choice on the carvery and for puddings. Would highly recommend and will be returning!

We decided to celebrate Mother's Day with a special lunch for seven people. Unfortunately, the beef and pork were dry, almost like dust, and the lamb was too fatty. The vegetable options were limited, and the Yorkshire puddings were undercooked. The layout of the bar and carvery lacked efficiency. Despite these issues, the friendly staff created a warm atmosphere, making our Mother's Day lunch overall pleasant. A positive note was the staff providing a box for leftover meat, which our dog happily enjoyed.

Rang back to query bill as we couldn’t work it out to be told we must have had large carvery at 13.95 and child at 7.95 sorry I cannot see these prices anywhere on your website so totally stumped as my husband wasn’t given a choice when he bought tickets.This doesn’t reflect on food was lovely but website totally misleading.

Just love This Pub Sunday Carvery is absolutely beautiful well worth the visit The staff are excellent and are very polite and helpful the landlady is very nice and nothing seems to much trouble Well worth the visit I’ll be back

We have been here 3 times now . 2 times on a Monday for pie night & today for the Sunday cavalry. It's an absolutely beautiful place to go for food. The staff are so warm & welcoming nothing is too much for them . Fantastic job guys. Soon to be our local

Had a carvery for Sunday lunch absolutely fantastic veg was fresh and topped up all the time excellent selection of meats great value for money

tried the steak spot on the pork with honey and mustard was very good again as on previous visits the service was great and the food was served how it should be piping hot

Went with a party of friends I had the lasagne. For just under £15 .to say a weight watchers lasagne had more to it .It must've been less than half an inch in depth .Carnt talk for the rest of the table as there meals looked OK But mine was a portion for a child

Just had a family meal at The Newton. Chicken sweet chilli sizzler, steaks and burgers. Food absolutely delicious and hot. Will definitely be going back to try other items on the extensive menu.

Absolutely fantastic food and the staff couldn't do enough for us. We had a side order of garlic mushrooms in this creamy sauce and it tasted amazing. We will definitely be back! ☆☆☆☆☆

Great ace for a pint and some pub grub!

We had the Xmas dinner it was really good the service was spot on. It has ample parking with a couple of disabled bays, wheelchair access to the pub.

Super friendly and helpful staff and the food was absolutely delicious. If you are in the area and looking for some tasty food, this is a great place. I only wish we were going to be in the area again as there were some other dishes that looked amazing. We had the fish and chips and the mushroom pot.

We went yesterday for Sunday lunch. There had been a mix up with our booking but the staff could not have been more helpful and quickly found a table for us. The food was excellent and it was so lovely that they catered for our 2-year old granddaughter with their baby bowl portion. All the staff on duty were an absolute credit to The Newton.

Surrounded by screaming kids watching pepa pig at full volume on their parents phones. Food was ok, not great, I just got a plate of fatty meat. £4.10 for a class of Coke was far too much for a pub on the outskirts of Doncaster.

We were a group of 8 accommodated at very short notice at The Newton today. We were made very welcome and the service and food was excellent with very reasonable prices. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and we could relax and enjoy a lovely social time together. Would certainly recommend.

Family of 11 visited tonight for my daughters birthday and would highly recommend the staff and service was outstanding and the meals were all top quality 👍

Called on a Monday night not the busiest, the staff were very pleasant and enthusiastic about the food. I had cottage pie my wife had chicken, this was very good pub food in a nice atmosphere, the staff raved about Sunday lunch. I will go back

Called in today greeted with friendly staff and shown to a table immediately. We opted for the light bite menu I had fish and chips. Chips were proper home made and crispy and fish was a lovely chunky piece of white flaky fish. Everything was piping hot and delicious. Service was great and I would definitely recommend visiting here for great food and service!!

It's a very quaint public house in a easy to get to location . The food was excellent with a very comfortable atmosphere, and I will be recommending this to all my friends.

Well what a lovely carvery all round. The staff was lovely and welcoming special mention to Dave who had time for all his customers going the exacta mile and to Kyle the chef (the pie was amazing). But as a whole the place was clean and very modern inside and the food was top quality the meat melted in your mouth by for the best I’ve had in Doncaster in the last year and that’s a bold statement. Will 100% be coming back.

Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, very neat and tidy restaurant, staff were very helpful and lovely little beer garden outside the back with a decent park for the children.

The food was reasonable, however we had issues with dirty cutlery and used napkins being laid out on our table for us to use (one of the napkins was torn, covered in pasta, and had been folded and put out amongst the others). It was an honest mistake but was very unpleasant. We also had two of the wrong dishes brought out, with one being a non gluten-free variant of one we'd requested to be gluten-free - thankfully we asked again for them to reconfirm if it was and they switched it out when they realised the mistake. This was troubling as we made the request due to the recipient having celiac. It was dissapointing as we've had standard service from here before without issue.

We went tonight to celebrate my husband's birthday (5.8.23) as a party of 8 adults and three children and everyone one us so enjoyed our meal. The staff were super and we couldnt fault anything. Absolutely fabulous meal. We will definitely be back.

Arrived at 12:15, (table booked for 12:30), food was not served till 13:45. This we consider is much too long, on finishing ordered a pudding (apple pie and custard), that came in a few minutes. Don't think we will be going back.

good service good food only moan, I had 12ounce gammon the food was good but it was squeezed onto a plate that was a little small -gammon folded in two with half the chips under it will return good homemade chips not the usual frozen fries etc

Just had yet another excellent Carvery, the food is always good & the staff are very welcoming, efficient & very helpful. Our favourite place to eat.

The mains were really nice, but the desserts were massively disappointing (despite looking good). I would eat here again, but definitely wouldn't have a pudding again.

Walked in & no record of our booking- however, accommodated a table for 5 adults and we were informed there was a 45 minute wait for food. Served at table by a young lady who seemed very direct & without the knack of being welcoming and soothing customers to make it an overall pleasurable experience. She was efficient in a not so nice way. Drinks served to the table which is always a great touch & long may it continue. Food was ordered for 1915 and after another round of drinks it arrived at 2015, a little longer than the quoted ETA. Again served professionally and 2 of us had the Seafood Linguine- which was really tasty & recommended. The pie as last time came with massive puff pastry topping & plenty of meat. Cajun Chicken came with sauce as an extra at £1.50 bizarre! Whilst eating and ordering another round of drinks for approx 2040 we were informed that they would be closing in 1/2 hour- meaning 2130 we had to be out. Since we received our food later than planned we literally had to rush through the last round of drinks- and staff were actually waiting for us to pay & leave our table- they were in the restaurant/bar area, no peer pressure then. The food seemed good, we were rushed out, bearing in mind the lateness of food arriving, so out catch up lasted 150 minutes only due to the place closing- ( we were prepared for 2 more drinks at least, not to be!). This spoilt the experience and consequently we will not be returning- thank you.

The meals are really good value for money. The staff are really friendly and nothing is too much for them. It may be advisable to ring and check if tables are available as it can get very busy, especially on Sundays

Very disappointing, we booked a sunday carvery, for 4.00 pm ( finish at 6) the pub was empty when we arrived, we was told we had to pay at the bar, so after being shown our table we went to pay, the lady serving ignored us and went to serve a member of staff who was sat eating , eventually she served us but her attitude was like we where an inconvenience. We then went to the carvery, where no one was serving .. the staff who works on the carvery , who told us to pay was no now sat eating her food at this point,( why when she knew we had booked for 4.00 pm) eventually a lad was asked to serve us ( he'd been sat eating with other staff members) The meal was poor , 4 yorkshire puddings left , all very small , if you didn't like carrots you'd be very upset as other choices where watery cabbage, dried peas , and dried up mushy peas, the stuffing balls where that hard and dried out you couldn't put a fork in them, the food was luke warm so I'm peased we had hot ish gravy. We where very disappointed, Overall it was probably one of the worst carverys I've had and certainly not worth the price, I asked a member of staff if they'd been busy , she said no not at all not for a few weeks ... is this the reason why maybe?

Really good pub grub. Generous portions and good value for money. Super friendly staff can't wait to return :)
