The best restaurants serving British food in Yorkshire and The Humber

First time visit and the food was very good. Lovely friendly staff . We would highly recommend the boat shed and will definitely be visiting again.

After not getting booked elsewhere we decided to call Dawnay Arms. We had had a leaflet delivered and thought why not try it, well what a surprise. Food was incredible, service even better and we can honestly say it was a great night made so much better by the friendly and attentive staff. Don’t wait to visit, make it a destination and see for yourself as this is a must to see and enjoy.

'Simply the best' food experience! The food is delicious, unique and absolute quality. The Swine Bistro offers a comfortable, homely environment and a warm welcome from the owner far outreached our expectations of this highly recommended restaurant. Our first visit here having won some vouchers We live in Shelley so it was a nice ride out for us. Friendly warm welcome the atmosphere was lovely lots of couples eating and a birthday party. We ordered drinks and starters which included mozzarella with grapes pesto and walnuts delicious my husband had the asparagus and scotch egg which he loved . We both ordered the Sunday lunch which was the best I’ve ever tasted in any restaurant we are a big family and usually eat at home Sundays so this was a nice treat. Onto pudding and because we were going to share the Eton mess was a sizeable portion and again delicious . It’s very rare these days you find a restaurant that ticks all those boxes service ambiance quality food at extremely reasonable prices but this certainly does thanks for a lovely afternoon we will definitely be back

A very expensive, very average meal. We had salmon and couscous which was pretty bland unfortunately and lacking in substance. A few bits of Brocoli mixed in...just seemed average with little effort or taste. A cheap meal, salmon fillet and a bit of cous cous for the best part of 20£. We had starters, main course and a desert to share. Left hungry and £100 lighter. I wouldn't visit again.

Posh nosh noche. Excelente comida no podía faltar la noche. Salmón principal era increíble. Toma tu propio vino también. Tenía esto reservado para más de un año, pero bien vale la pena la espera.

The Bistro that is never actually open! I've tried calling in here a few times and it is always closed! If you are looking for afternoon tea, coffee and cake or anything else, I wouldn't bother with this one. I have one star for service because in my eyes, being closed all the time is rubbish service. I gave 3 stars for food and atmosphere because I haven't yet being able to experience either, so I was trying to be fair. It may be that they deserve a 5, or a 1. If they ever actually start opening up and taking customers, I'll edit as appropriate.

What a gem of a place, Excellent food, exceptional service, we had a fabulous evening. Best place we have eaten by far.

Best sandwich shop in York possibly the country. Babys arm for breakfast and B.M.B for dinner then your good till the next day!👍🏼

Very clean shop well presented the produce looks amazing unfortunately this is where my problem lies, the sirloin steaks looked great, nice and thick just as a steak should be I paid over £20 for 2.however when I Got home and opened they were slightly thicker than minute steaks and the quality of the meat was subpar, very misleading to squish the steak up to make it look thicker than it’s actually cut. Very disappointing especially with all the good reviews on here. We would have gone Back and stocked up on other goodies to take away with us but don’t like throwing money away. I have no problem spending that bit more for quality, but when you can get better at aldi there’s obviously a problem.

We called in for a beer and enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast at the Pinnacle on father's day. Good beers on tap and really good tasty Sunday roast. I opted for the lamb roast and everything was freshly cooked to high standard. The homemade mint sauce was awesome and perfect to go with the lamb roast. I would have liked to try a dessert but felt full have a starter and Sunday roast. Friendly guys that run the place, if we get back to cowling I would definitely eat and drink here again. Thanks

Best fish & chips in the local area by a country mile! Fresh fish every time. Friendly customer service and excellent lunch time deal.

Popped along for the first time one Wednesday morning, greeted with a friendly hello. My husband and I sat outside and nothing was too much bother; food brought out plus takeaway bags if needed. Great food and value too!
