Gorgeous melt in the mouth desserts, absolutely delicious.

Had a great party, I booked a private party for a special birthday and everything, as always, was excellent. The menu was put together especially for us to suit both our taste and our budget. The food was amazing, delicious freshly cooked dishes with enough choice to cover all of our party, mains included a beef dish, chicken dish, fish dish and vegan dish and having the place to oursleves meant we could add birthday decorations and could party without having to be mindful of other diners. The quality and price of the food along with the bar prices are the best and this seems to be the only place now that isn't just hiking prices week after week. Now they are only open for private functions which they said means they can offer the parties great deals. A glass of quality wine or gin & tonic here is half the price of everywhere else locally. We have already booked two more functions as there is nowhere else locally with good food at reasonable prices.

The New Years Eve dinner was fantastic, relaxed atmosphere, excellent food, they served at guests requested pace depending on whether you were staying until midnight or leaving to go on somewhere else. Even all the guests were friendly with chatter between tables. We had the tiger prawn starter which was huge and excellent and the smoked duck breast starter which was very tasty, mains we had lemon sole and beef cheeks, both excellent and for dessert panna-cotta and chocolate torte, followed by tea and coffee and homemade truffles, the best quality and best value meal we've had in a long time. We have re-booked for next year!

We were here for the festive evening menu in December. Everything was perfect, the decor and ambiance was so relaxing and cosy, we had the crispy skin sea bass and it was some of the nicest fish we have had for a long time, the sea bass fillet was huge and perfectly cooked. The homemade mackerel pate was delicious and the lemon posset was a a very tasty, light dessert. It's so refreshing to eat in a place where everything is cooked from scratch as it is becoming harder and harder to find such places, hence this is one of the few places we now eat in Holmfirth and the surrounding areas. The fish was so good.

Brilliant Christmas do, we had the whole venue to ourselves, a party of 60 with a menu tailored to suit us, the food, the Christmas decorations, the service, the cocktails, all were excellent. It was so relaxed and cosy, we have re-booked for next year already. They could not have done for us.

We had a group lunch booked, we were a very large party of 70 and we had the whole place to ourselves. They made a special menu for us and worked to our budget which was really helpful, we had a great choice of dishes for a 4 course lunch, the crispy skin sea bass was amazing and a huge fillet as were the beef cheeks, belly pork (not the usual slab of rock hard belly pork) and everything else! Those who chose the vegetarian plait said it was a real change from the usual vegetarian options. The staff couldn't do enough for us, the food and service were second to none and the bar prices were very reasonable even for very good wines. I can understand why it's always full for parties, the food and thought behind the menu was excellent, even the bread was home made. It made a real change to feel we had received such good quality food with a sensible price tag.

We popped in today for a light bite and wasn't disappointed. We had a tuna, onion and cheese melt, Burger and chips, drinks and a dessert to share. The place is really inviting, although it was raining outside the place is so well lit it felt sunny and warm. It soon filled up so I would recommend booking in advance, we will definitely be back, in fact I've booked for one of their special events, a Thai evening meal!! I am sure it will be amazing

Not very busy. Mine was nice but my husband's wasn't hot enough. After waiting an hour for it he didn't want to risk sending it back and said it tasted lovely, just cold. Cake was lovely.

Met up with friends who were travelling north as we were travelling south. Checked on Internet and was impressed with the menu, we weren't disappointed in fact delighted would be appropriate description. Highly recommended and will attempt a return visit when we're back in the UK

My mother and I went to Philomena Foggs for lunch today. We took a friend who hasn't been before. She loved it, as, of course, do we. My mother and I had the chowder, which was delicious as always.

The food is excellent here - the chips alone are worth a visit!! Not sure if the takeaway is new since re-opneing, but either way, I'm enjoying it far too much for lunch when working at home! The GF options are brilliant too. Highly recommended, especially the burgers!

Well worth a visit. The menu is different, not your run of the mill cafe food, and the coffee and cake are beautiful. I bought a brownie to eat when I got home and my 2 year old daughter snaffled most of it. Service is really friendly. Don't be fooled by the exterior, it's a gem inside.

I had breakfast there. Excellent quality and variety for the price. They used proper bread rather than standard toast. Staff stuck to COVID measures properly - everyone wore a visor, contact details taken for tracing purpose, multiple sanitiser pumps etc. Very pleased and will return.

Brilliant!. I love this place especially for afternoon tea. There's a good selection on the menu and it's well presented and very tasty. It's also dog friendly so a great place to go without your pooch missing out.

Having tried many different places for break fast I can honestly say that this is the one to beat, the home made beans are awesome, quality, quality, quality.

Visited for the first time yesterday and will definitely be going back. It's kind of a quirky place set in what looks like an old mill. The wallpaper and theme is fab, the staff are lovely and the food is gorgeous, all homemade, including their own baked beans. Definitely recommend.

Lovely breakfast with a great choice of hot and cold drinks. Both the pancakes and the full English (with homemade baked beans!) Were excellent. The portions were a little on the small side but then it was also very well priced so that wasn't too bad.

Rather underwhelming. Price of food is reasonable, but they get you on drinks. I don't really think being charged £1.75 for a glass of flavoured water is acceptable. My dish was rather small when it arrived, and I was still hungry afterwards. There's clearly some kitsch design and approach, just not my thing. Sorry.

Hidden away cafe, but well worth finding. We had an afternoon tea for four. Three different sandwich varieties, various cream cakes, a lemon posset and scone with clotted cream and jam. Excellent and really good value. Friendly efficient service.

5 star plus Having now visited on several occasions I can not fault. A little hidden gem! I have eaten at many places in the Holmfirth area and this is my favourite. The chefs are excellent! also are the staff. The food I have had has been delicious, service excellent, The set lunch menu can not be faulted. Many thanks. Some places maybe trendy but this is by far the best in the area.

I really enjoyed this place. A nice quiet atmosphere. Dogs allowed which is always good for this dog loving family. Delicious cakes at a reasonable cost. I had coffee and walnut, my wife warm chocolate brownie served with ice cream, both from a changing daily selection of cakes. My 7 year old had the strawberry freakshake, talk about wow factor! I would have given 5 stars but for the location which is in the middle of industrial units so no chance of sitting outside unfortunately.

Just had a rather disappointing Christmas lunch. The turkey slice certainly wasn't 'traditional' as promised, and the veg was really hard. And absolutely no atmosphere. Shame as I have always enjoyed eating there in the past.

An interesting venue and place to meet up and have lunch or tea and cake. There is a varied menu well thought out and with excellent presentation. This café is somewhat hidden away down a narrow entrance which might appear as industrial or commercial, inside is a delight and we'll presented.

Philomena's is lost in the old mill complex but a wonderful find and is bigger than it looks with 3 or 4 separate rooms so you could have a private party. Lovely food and pleasant staff. Only negative is that it is only open to 4.30pm.

Set in a rather dour old textile mill complex, the contrast to the decor and atmosphere inside is amazing. A fascinating concept with delightful staff, an excellent wide selection of food and drinks and relaxed atmosphere. There is also a separate dining room for dog owners. Definitely has a wow factor and deserves a wide fan base.

Absolute pleasure dining here. The menu is always always has new additions yet favourites are kept. The staff can't do enough for you always happy but professional. The quality of food and delivery is superb can't recommend them highly enough .

Love that you are welcome to take your dog. We reserved a table for two on a Saturday lunchtime. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. We both went for the lamb from the healthy reduced fat option - it was lush. Reasonable price too.

Great little place with lovely food. Particularly handy for dog owners. They welcome muddy paws and boots so you don't feel uncomfortable calling in whilst out on a long walk. They even came to give the dogs a treat. The food is always delicious and it comes with friendly, welcoming service too. Thanks Philomena's.

Not quite sure what to make of this place really. Travelled quite a distance to give it a try owing to the favourable reviews. Upon arriving we found nowhere to park, probably about a dozen spaces available within the industrial estate, all taken. We finally found a spot to park away from the industrial estate and made our way to the cafe. Entering the premises we were asked if we we required a table for two, yes we replied, only to be then advised gleefully that they were fully booked. Why ask us if we wanted a table for two as there were obviously just the two of us to then advise us we couldn't have one? We could see numerous empty tables within and felt the way in which we were happily turned away without any further explanation after travelling so far was quite disgusting. The food may be lovely, we don't know. The front of house service certainly needs addressing.
