Went for their Bluegrass night and had fantastic food that was really different to anything I’ve had before. Great with allergies and loved how personal the service felt without being bothered throughout the night. Very reasonably priced for such high quality food

My favourite restaurant in Leeds! The Swine That Dines is the type of restaurant that you always hope to find. Fantastic produce, friendly service and a changing menu that delivers every time you visit. The team behind this restaurant obviously deeply care about what they do and it shows. Book without hesitation!

Saw the Friday sandwich with dipping gravy on Instagram and thought got to try that 😋👍 ! Not familiar with Leeds but managed to find the Swine easily enough and thank goodness I did ! It might seem that a beef bun and dessert couldn’t satisfy but the quality and flavour cried out to my hungry belly and it was sure happy after ! A local beer to wash it down from a short but well sourced list was great and whatever the weather was doing it was sunny in my heart ! I am the worlds worst with names and can’t remember the charming front of house lady’s but it was so much fun, the current dining room is small but delightful, they are moving to a bigger place very soon so watch out for it ! Wonderful imaginative food of the highest quality while maintaining that intimate feel of a well loved local favourite ! Love the place and can’t wait to go back - get yourself there and your tastebuds and stomach will love you ! Mike Dxx

This was my first visit to the 'Swine' but I don't intend it to be the last - although it may then be in different premises - on a future visit to Leeds. One of the best things about frequent eating out is that you can still come across a small family-run restaurant like this although, to be honest, I didn't find it - my son already knew about it. A, thankfully, short but innovative, menu had much to tempt my taste buds. Starting with Scrapple (definitely new to me!) followed by a Ragu and ending with one of the best in-house ice creams I have ever had this lunch was a hit from start to finish. We were welcomed with a warm smile by Jo. Service was excellent, and how food of such quality was prepared in what appeared to be a fairly small working area is a sign of a well run kitchen. Jo and Stu are on to a winner here and I wish them every success in their new venture.

An early summer visit to The Swine The great news is that the kitchen led by Stu is on still on great form, all the dishes were top quality My starter of asparagus / duck egg / tomato may sound mundane, but I can assure you it was exceptional. The other starter of mackerel pate / frise / beets / croutons was also impressive Both dishes sound simple but the thought process / attention to detail / execution were absolutely spot on The excellence continued throughout the meal with a great dish of bream (x2) and a dessert of burnt basque cheesecake (x2) Thanks once again to both Jo and Stu is really is a privilege to eat such great food

Early table pre-theatre and I hoped we would have nearly as good of an experience as last time. It transpired to be as good or possibly better than last time. The friendliest of welcomes, and the most cheery and charming wait staff. Short menu, but with super choices saw me choose mackerel to start and a lamb ragout main, which with a glass of Chianti made me wander to Italy. My wife had the best, super fresh asparagus followed by a fabulous chickpea and roast pumpkin main (not that I got a taste to prove it!). We did have a little dessert share though, and both were great. Great cooking, clever recipes, lovely atmosphere and super value for money means that I have to heartily recommend that you visit. We wanted to take a friend out for a belated birthday meal. We had heard good things about The STD but had never eaten there ourselves. Two of us are pescatarians but despite the small menu there was plenty for us to choose from. Suffice it to say the meal was excellent, from the pickles at the start to the coffee at the end. We had 3 courses in between, of which every dish was fresh, hot where necessary, and delicious. The bottle of rosé was also good and not overpriced. Booked a meal for 6pm as off to the theatre and had a choice of tables available to us. We chose the window table and a bottle of tap water promptly arrived. The small but sufficient menu was carefully explained and we chose the freshly baked bread & butter with a fabulously tasty cucumber & chicory salad to start. My wife had the chicken leg with pumpkin and I went for the game meatballs with wet polenta. I’m normally not a fan of polenta but this with the tomato salsa sauce was great. My wife finished with a brown sugar baked custard tart with she said was perfect. Coffees to finish and off to the theatre with time for another wine. This is a fabulous 20 cover independent restaurant that deserves to succeed. We will certainly return.

Lunch visit yesterday was a feast for the eyes, the visit did not disappoint. Don’t be put off by the location or the size of the restaurant, the food is the star event. We were a group of three and all chose different dishes. Non of us were disappointed with our choices. We normally had two courses, but the food was so good we felt we had to try the desserts, we were not disappointed. One of our group is gluten free and the waitress went out of her way to identify the gluten free dishes and add a dish from the evening menu, which was requested. Overall, the food is five star, the service five star we will be back.

This place isn’t bad, it’s not even good, it’s bloomin’ brilliant. We booked an early dinner as we were going to the theatre afterwards. Shown to our table and the menu was explained to us - a relatively short list of four starters and the same number of mains. IMO, that’s great; do a few things well rather that loads poorly is my maxim and it is clearly theirs as well. We had a couple of g’n’t’s whilst we chose - fish soup for me and venison terrine for her ladyship followed by duck suet pudding for her and belly pork for me. As we weren’t in a particular rush, we asked for a leisurely service, which we received.. The food was exceptional - and that’s not hyperbole - great portion size, tasty, well seasoned, hot. Limited but well chosen wine list - we had the Tempranillo, which was nice. We were served by both the lady who I understand is co-owner and Keisha, who is absolutely lovely. If I’m being really picky, the toilet isn’t fantastic. But it’s an old building and they are clearly limited on space and what they can do in an old cellar space. But don’t let that put you off. Visit this place, because the food is great, the people are lovely and the ambience is superb!!

Disappointing. The menu was very small and when we arrived at 20.30 on Saturday some of the dishes were not available so not much choice left. One of us was coeliac and only a few dishes were available for them so even less choice. We asked for two small beers. Were told that they only had two left and then no more. And the beers served to us were not small but 500ml. We would have only asked for one and shared had we been properly advised. Then ordered wine from the wine list but our choice was not available and again we were not advised but brought a substitute that was not the same. The dining area is very small and our table meant that one of us was looking at a wall and bookshelf so not the best atmospheric experience either. Getting to the very small toilet is a challenge and not a good experience when you arrive. Therefore we will not be returning. There are many better restaurants in Leeds.

Went for dinner, with three courses for £29.50. The menu was short, and seasonally focused. I particularly enjoyed the ox tongue for main, which was tender, and served in a beautiful rich sauce. Service was super friendly and laid-back. Can highly recommend!

Excellent standard of food with a brief yet confidently simple menu. Intimate atmosphere; akin to visiting a friend or neighbour, rather than a bustling restaurant. Would definitely visit again should the opportunity arise.

I absolutly adore this place. I'm convinced Stu is performing some kind of magic behind the scenes and Jo's service and desserts are so warming and so devine. It's always such a joy to dine here. Everything is clearly made with so much love and thought and care, you really can't ask for any more than that!

I relied on the reviews of other customers but was really disappointed with everything at this restaurant. Having a table where I was facing the wall didn’t help to start with but beyond that, the food was expensive for what it was despite the use of foreign words on the menu to make it sound more enticing. They could do with hiring more staff in the kitchen and focus more on customer satisfaction than keeping costs down as wait times were long and the space cramped. To add insult to injury, they had asked for a £15 non-refundable deposit per person and delivered a handwritten receipt at the end of the meal (I guess again to save on costs). And last tip, the name of the restaurant is terrible and when they collect the deposit the business name appears as “The Greedy Pig”, I guess that sums it up.

I'm here as I write this. I'm just so blown away I just had to write about it while the flavours are still pouring around my mouth and Van Morrison is singing in my ear. The Swine That Dines has just sky rocketed into the number one slot for restaurants in Leeds as far as I'm concerned. Jo and Stu are quite simply in a league of their own. They do what they want, as it pleases, and oh my gosh it pleases. I'm into some of the fancy upmarket restaurants further towards the center... But the cold hard truth is, the pale in comparison to the homely vyb, good times and exceptional food found in this humble 5 table eatery on the border of the city centre It's personal, it's beautiful, and it's oh so tastey. Chat to Jo about the food, she'll tell you all about it. Perfect front of house service. I had the ox tongue (the menu changed regularly) and it was without doubt the best dish I've had in Leeds. The wine list is amazing too! Just get yourself booked in.

Walking down Briggate towards The Pack Horse Pub in a roundabout way my twin brother Stephen and I decided to drop into this Greggs outlet for a quick munch to eat. Your usual Greggs, all the goodies prominently on display, we got a steak bake each and a pack of 4 sausage rolls to share ,we enjoyed these delicious pastries along Briggate, becoming a bit of a Greggs fiend lately ,can't seem to pass one without dropping in,my excuse about lockdown blubber gain is looking a bit tired now that restrictions have been lifted 🤣🤣, this Greggs along Briggate is most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area and open from 9am till 7pm Monday to Sunday.
