5 stars are not enough. The best I've tasted in a long time.

With lovely decor and a warm welcome, first impressions are good, and it only gets better... Ordering from the set menu we all elected to have three courses,with a good variety between us. We all enjoyed every course. For me, my stand out course was the belly pork starter, but we all had our own favourites. Excellent service (birthday boy Grandad was delighted with his balloon dog!) and wonderful food. Thank you. We will be visiting again.

Fantastic, small venue. Service is superb and food is exquisite. Very good value for money offer- 3 courses for £30.

Real lovely place,with it being warm we sat on the outside seating which was really nice.the food was really good very tasty and well presented well cooked fresh food.service was excellent with a young lady called maddie and a young man.both very attentive.maddie was very friendly and efficient.would recommend.

An excellent night with special friends . Lovely meal,all courses were delicious. Our first time but will be back. Weekend deal 2 courses £32or 3 courses £37 each. This also includes drink of your choice. It is only small so would recommend booking .

Fantastic meal from the set menu. Caters well for intolerances. Really good service, promptly served and the food was really tasty. I would highly recommend the pork loin and the pana cotta. A shout out to Maddie for the great, friendly service. Great value for a great meal.

Just had a lovely dinner at The Garrison. We were looked after by Maddie who was really kind and welcoming. The food was delicious, we could only manage two courses and they were really good. We will definitely be back, thank you very much.

We can not say enough good things about our visits here. The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely. It is small with probably space to seat 30 ish inside, and there is a lovely outdoor eating area too! The staff (we had the pleasure of Josh looking after us) were friendly, knowledgeable and very efficient. The food was excellent, and the variety of starters, mains, desserts, and cocktails should cover all tastes. The extra details given to the presentation of each dish makes this place unforgettable.

Food was absolutely devine!! We visited on a whim and are we so glad we did! Gorgeous flavours and cooked perfectly! Service impeccable by Joss and such a down to earth guy 😀 A friendly and chilled atmosphere! Great things come in small (not the portions) and stylish packages! EDIT! I have had to edit my review as I hadn't eaten the dessert and let me tell you the Panna Cotta was beautiful but the sticky toffee pudding was next level. Menu is small but the food is amazing! This is a well thought out menu with quality over quantity in mind...there is no point having 100 different things on a menu that compromises the quality, stick to what you do best...and these guys do exactly that. If you go here you will not be disappointed. 100% recommended.

Just had the most amazing meal at the garrison in wickersley - I asked for a couple of changes because I don’t like cheese and it wasn’t a problem- the food was delicious- the 7oz burger with the chimichuri mayo was I put on Instead of the cheese made it the best burger I have ever had - I absolutely recommend you having the same - I didn’t want to stop eating. I’m not a massive fan of toffee so the dessert was toffee pudding with honey comb and toffee sauce - I asked if I could have chocolate sauce with no it and the chef said no problem I’ll knock you some up and what do you prefer, dark or milk chocolate, the pudding came out just as I asked and it was delightful- I want to say thanks to all the team at garrison for an amazing experience- an establishment and team to be proud of.

The place is quite small but the service is good. The food was delicious I have never had chicken supreme like that the chicken was so moist with the whole dish together it was delicious. But the sticky toffee pudding was the amazing. I will definitely be going back

If you’ve not been here before, you NEED to come. We came last night for dinner and it was all beyond amazing. Will be returning again soon! Food and service were 10/10. Definitely recommend booking in advance as they are often full. All staff were super lovely and efficient!

We booked a table for 7:30 Saturday evening and I rang at 10:30 Friday to cancel as my husband ended up working. The man was rude and said I would still be charged the £20 fee. Absolutely ridiculous when they would not have resold this table in the timeframe from Thursday evening to Friday morning. This will prevent me from booking again as they need to appreciate peoples plans change I would understand if it was the same day. Be careful avoid if you may not be able to stick to plan A.

Have eaten here three times now - and believe this is the best food in Wickersley - and there is plenty of competition Just wish they open Sundays for lunch; it would be amazing.

I've been a few times now on a Friday evening with my parents, as it's one of their favourite restaurants. I can honestly say that everything on the menu is lovely, and you can't go wrong with whatever you order. I've tried a few of their wines too and haven't had a bad one. It's pricey on a weekend (the midweek deal is much better value) - but worth it.

Came here Saturday night for the tasting menu to celebrate their 3rd birthday. What can I say except absolutely outstanding. Best and most reasonably priced restaurant in the area by far. The staff were exceptional and kept us entertained. Cannot recommended enough. Thank you again x

We were really looking forward to eating here for the first time, and were so disappointed. We ordered one of the specials; pan seared Turbot filet with buttered chard, celeriac and truffle purée + potato terrine. £23 As someone who’s worked with food, a normal portion of fish should be at least 125g, preferably closer to 180g. This was maybe 25g of actual fish + a rubbery piece of skin. Embarrassing. See photo. The potato terrine was ok but flavourless and not cooked enough. The purée was the only nice thing about this dish. The portion size was very small and could almost have fit in my hand. To charge £23 for a main course special like this is shocking. I don’t enjoy complaining like this but this was incredibly disappointing.

6 of us dined here as a late birthday celebration. It was recommended and did not disappoint in any way. Staff were brilliant, showing good humour and clearly love their job. Food was outstanding with a great atmosphere all night. Quite a small venue so booking advised. Will definitely return....now becomes our favourite place in Wickersley.

What an amazing little gem of a restaurant. Book this because it had such great reviews for a family get together last evening. We weren't disappointed. A friendly and attentive member of staff greeted us at the door and showed us to our table. The menu is not extensive, but caters for all tastes and turned out to be very tasty and wholesome. With descriptions from the staff, but with own preferences in mind, we opted for the two courses, with the proviso we could change our minds and add the third later. Which, of course we did after sampling and thoroughly enjoying the starters and mains. We are a family of 'foodies' and the chef here certainly knows how to please. Everything was perfectly cooked, very tasty, well presented, actually, delicious. We were suitably impressed and will return whenever we can. Well worth the two hour drive to get here. My advice; if you haven't experienced it, get on the phone and make a booking. Their weekend menu looked fantastic too. Go on, give yourselves a treat.

This was my first visit here,as it was recommended by my wife after a previous visit, what an amazing 3 courses we had all for £30 each including a drink. My taste buds were dancing with delight. The front of house guys made us feel so welcome and were attentive.

Josh on front of house is fun and knowledgeable about the food / drinks etc. Makes great cocktails. Other waiting on staff were attentive and friendly. Elliot the chef created fabulous food, beautifully presented and served.Nothing to fault there. The venue is cosy and well presented, but when all tables are full it does get very hot and stuffy and very loud - not sure what can be done to change this but unfortunately it does detract a little from what could realy be a fine dining experience. A lovely evening. Great food at reasonable (but dont think cheap) prices. Will definitely be back. Our first visit. Had a lovely evening here at the end of October. Food was absoultely delicious and the service excellent. Pricing was spot on and Joshua and Sam (I think) were super friendly and fun hosts. Both food and drinks menu were explained well with suggestions made for 'likes and dislikes'. Definitely worth a visit, have already reccommended to friends and I am sure we will return. First time this evening at The Garrison. Had a lovely meal, witn great service and good quality food. It is small and quaint, no loud music with a pleasant atmosphere, which is perfect for hearing aid users. The cocktail menu could have been a little more robust , that's a personal choice only. Food and service top notch can't fault the place at all. Despite only being one of two tables in there we were not rushed at all. Starters and mains were so good as was the wine, finished off with a couple of amazing espresso martini's. Top marks to front of house guys, brilliant service would not be the same without these two.
