The Venus Restaurant in Rotherham

Went on the 4th January for a early birthday meal with the husband. It was absolutely fantastic the food and staff what can you complain about absolutely nothing. They are lovely staff and the food is amazing. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody. The steak is to die for cooked to perfection. The Diane sauce the best I have ever had. Not a cheap place but it is worth every penny to me .

We went Friday the 3rd January for the set menu. It was value for money and very nice, there was more than enough, my partner had garlic mushrooms then had to stop them putting all the chicken stroganoff on her plate, I had soup then steak, loads of chips and veg with potatoes, I believe you can order as much of this as you like, we finished off with chocolate fudge cake and creme brulee, the staff are very nice and polite, lots of young ones. They don't stick a 10% service charge on like some places,

Xmas lunch in a large party but the food for everyone came promptly, hot and well presented.

We went to this venue as a company occasion for Christmas. The food service and ambience were fantastic. Would highly recommend for social or intimate meal evening. Just make sure you're hungry 😄

A belated review. Me and my partner have been regular diners at The Venus for over 30 years. I have not wrote a review before now because the restaurant is always excellent, lunchtime, evenings or private functions. The food, setting, staff is first class. We have been today (12 December) for a Xmas lunch, 3 beautiful courses, wonderful service and incredible value.

Had another staff Christmas party here tonight. Fantastic food, generous portions and the staff here are superb. They also cater well for vegetarians and vegans. Even some of the red and white wines are vegan. 10/10.

First visit, very professional staff and lovely meal. Will definitely return.

The very best restaurant I know in South Yorkshire, parking can be bit difficult, you may find yourself on the streets around Venus. The steaks are brilliant, best I've enjoyed anywhere around the world. Some people may consider Venus costly, however you get what you pay for. They are always willing to cater for children. Special occasion coming up, give them a try.

Lovely place. We went as part of a large gathering and it was a really great experience thank you. Delicious food.

It would be a good place to go for a kid free posh meal but it was a good price for what you get

We attended a funeral party here today, and we're very satisfied at the way the event was running. Staff were pleasant and efficient, top marks.

My husband and I celebrated our 80th birthday here with 9 guests and we had a lovely evening can not fault anything would recommend them to anyone

The Sunday lunch was beautiful, only issue I had, it would be better to leave a jug of gravy on table so the waiter didn’t have to come back. Coffee and deserts excellent. This is one place where I would truly say you get a full plate of food and the choice is more than adequate. Excellent range of drinks too

Whenever we want s really special celebration The Venus is top of our list. A family gathering to celebrate wife birthday. Six adults & 3 grandchildren (who always refer to The Venus as The Posh Restaurant). Starters for everyone, Sunday Lunch with all the trimmings and a few even managed a dessert. The staff, as always were helpful and friendly. It is always a pleasure to dine here, great food, large portions and relaxed and unhurried.

Traditional Sunday lunch, served to your table by friendly and well trained staff. Excellent food, piping hot. Downside was the lemon meringue pie, this did not match the delicious starters and mains.

First time we've been for my daughter's 30th birthday party. It won't be the last the food and service was first class we will be going again very soon.👌👌

Managed to get a table at last minute on Sat at 6.45. Service is friendly and efficient. Restaurant was full. We ordered the 5 course set menu £46.95 which I think was excellent value for money. I had smoked salmon and prawn starter, champagne sorbet, sirloin steak with mushrooms, onion rings, chips, mash and veg and a steak Diane sauce. The steak was huge and cooked perfectly- medium rare. The meat was also very good quality. I had biscoff cheesecake for dessert which was average. Followed by coffee. Outstanding value with really good service but could do with a little more of an atmosphere. Will definitely return

Finally a restaurant with a chief that can cook. Four different starter all fantastic . Four streaks and one lamb shank for mains with beautifully cooked veg and yes real chips rather than the oven ready rubbish that so many establishments now churn out. The service was friendly and attentive but not intrusive. All five of us enjoyed the experience and left talking about returning for Sunday Lunch.

Visited last night for our friend's 60th birthday. It's been a few years since I have been and won't be leaving it as long this time. The food and service was exceptional the staff were all very friendly a credit to the management.

My favourite place to dine out, white tablecloths, centre decorations on tables, food served on a platter by caring staff, there are not many places left that give you good old fashioned service!! This is the best by far!

We were there for an eightieth birthday celebration for Sunday lunch with a group of thirty family and friends. The food was delicious and served very promptly even though there were many different orders which were not pre-ordered. And the staff...well they were something else! So efficient, so professional and so friendly. They were really on top of their game. The restaurant was really busy when we arrived just after noon until after we left at 4pm. This is the best restaurant for service and food that I have been to and I eat out several times a week.

Large party of us were well attended to with considerate service. Food was consistently good and generous portions.

Starter and dessert were great. Main disappointing, especially the vegetables. Still a lovely place for a neal.

What a lovely place we found just passing by on our motorcycles. The staff were so nice to make us sandwiches and gave us coffee. We really enjoyed it and we are very grateful.

Went for my birthday with all the family. Every aspect from the first drink in the bar to the final coffee of my 5 course meal were EXCEPTIONAL. The 12oz. Ribeye steak was the best I've eaten since my $45 steak in Caesar's Palace, Vegas, every mouthful melted in the mouth, so tender!!! The white table cloths, silver service & efficiency of service were all so good there are not enough superlatives to describe the whole experience 5* Testament to this is that all my family from 14 years to me 71 were all of the same opinion & would not hesitate to return! Well done Venus, terrific to still find somewhere serving food properly, WE'LL BE BACK!!

Been here several times, most recently to have an evening meal whilst there was a singer on. A real nice atmosphere. Quality food, all silver service. Very friendly service. Highly recommended.

We visited Venus on Saturday 30th March and had a great evening. On arrival we had drinks at the bar whilst we viewed the menu and ordered. Once the meals were ready the waiter came over to show us to the table. I had a medium sirloin steak, and my husband had the mixed grill what was huge. All the food was perfectly cooked and presented, and the staff were friendly throughout. We didn’t have a desert as we were full from the mains. Overall had a great evening and will be visiting again.

From the moment you walk through the door you know you will have a great evening. The staff welcome you warmly. We had drinks whilst we checked out the menu. We ordered our meals & were shown to our table. The wife had Baked brie (never seen one so large) whilst I had the prawn & salmon cocktail. Mains were Lamb shank & rump steak. Followed by creme brulee and the wonderful cheese board which comes with a small carafe of port. Fantastic food, cooked extremely well and served by very helpful and friendly staff. We love The Venus it never disappoints.

Came here for a work night. Food, service and atmosphere were all 5 star. Staff are amazing, always going that extra mile to make the experience amazing. Definitely will be coming back. Prices are just as good.

First time visiting Venus on recommendation from friends. I shall not be going back in a hurry. Although the food was excellent as it should be considering the price, but the service was appalling especially when you’re paying on the higher end of the pricing spectrum. Not once were we asked if we wanted additional drinks or how the meals were. A gentleman on a near by table went to the bar himself for drinks as no waiting staff were to be seen.

Had a buffet. Was nice but some things were sub standard. Bar service very slow.

Service was exceptional and the food was just as good. Been here a few times over the years and it never disappoints. It's a restaurant you just have to try.

An amazing family run business for must be the past 30years. We visited on Thursday evening and there is no finer restaurant for a fillet steak Rossini. Making my mouth water thinking about it 😁❤️

Characterful building. Car parking is limited. Access from the street to a path leading directly to the front door. When entering the property, this leads to a small but comfortable bar area. Unfortunately, the Guinness was off, but I had a super pint of theakstons pale ale. We also had a bottle of Malbec. Restaurant was light and airy and table ste nicely. Superb 3 course meal, plenty of choice on the menu. Unfortunately, the duck was not available. We had salmon and steak (rump and sirloin ), which were well presented and very enjoyably. The sirloin attracted a supplement. Deserts and liquor coffee were very good. The service was very good. Staff were polite and friendly. We are returning later in the month and hope for another thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Visited 07/01/24 for the first time for a family meal (Sunday lunch). Older style / traditional environment which was lovely, very helpful staff, the food was wonderful and amazing value for money. Table service, everything was hot, tasted great and served very well. I would highly recommend a visit. No complaints at all, drinks good value for money, background music not too loud. It was excellent.

We went just before Christmas ,the food once again was amazing fast becoming our favourite place to eat , only thing that would have made it better was some crackers on the table as it was so close to Christmas and that was why we were there, the staff are so friendly we were served by a young new girl she was so helpful another great night thank you

Sunday special meal, excellent food, excellent value. Silver service, staff very friendly and polite. Nice atmosphere. The only problem may be parking, it's very popular and the restaurant car park is small (about 12 spaces) so most parking is on street.

It was unusual to find this delightful Restaurant in Dinnington S25 2PL. You get the most welcoming feeling when you enter the Venus restaurant, the owners will make you feel like part of the family, They have owned the Restaurant and Bar for 23 years have made it into quite an attraction, especially for Sunday lunch and festive occasions.You will find they have applied meticulous care and attention to detail to the decor giving the place that original 18th century feel.

We had a family night out to celebrate my birthday. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

We came with friends that had gluten allergy and the chef offered most items on the menu gluten free, so massive choice and first class dishes. Highly recommended.

Venus is an old fashioned formal atmosphered resturant, the food choices are dated back to the 90's prawn cocktail, melon, mushrooms etc as starters & then standard sunday lunch options beef, chicken and lamb. Most of the customers were elderley not that its a bad thing but there was no atmosphere so quiet & formal, tabled were dressed in white tableclothes, meals came out in a reasonable amount of time given it was quite busy and the odd thing was that some of the food was on the plate when served but then staff served the rest silver service , which seems to formal for a resturant in that location , this type of service usually is £100 & up per head resturants. The food was mediocre nothing to write home about but was ok given the cost. Overall staff seemed family run and very friendly.

Been dining here for 20 years plus. Costas, his parents and the rest of the team never fail to impress with their service and the quality of the food is second to none. I recently had a 50th Wedding Anniversary here for my parents for our family which was 45 covers and they did an amazing job, The food was fantastic and the service was excellent! Thank you once again for making this evening very special for my Mum & Dad we had a lovely evening. John

Beautiful food well cooked and served. Well worth the price we paid for it. I had duck and could only manage the leg, which was very tasty and tender. The duck breast was boxed up for me to take home. We try to go twice a year so will be back.
