Unfortunately it wasn't as good as our previous stays and it's in need of some investment. The room itself is comfortable and clean but the wi fi is appalling (it's never been brilliant but depends on which room you are in). The television signal is good enough for 2 channels only. This time, room four, the bed springs were making it very uncomfortable for a decent night's sleep. On a positive note, the breakfast is very good but no cereal this time, still we didn't go hungry. For the money, its elsewhere next time for a stay.

I was warmly welcomed by a team member positioned close to the point of ordering. I placed my order and in a short space of time it was presented by a very pleasant team member. The food was very good and during the entire visit every staff member was polite, warm and professional! I shall be visiting again feeling a 'valued customer'

You would not think a restaurant could get a cream tea wrong but Sugar ‘N’ Spice did. First off the price of £7 for a scone & tea was probably one of the most expensive ones I’ve seen. The waitress wasn’t very friendly & made a big issue of charging 35p extra for Earl Grey tea. (the bill later was written out for 70p extra each). The current scone (didn’t get a choice of current or plain) came out slightly warm but doughy in the middle. Possibly caused by heating up in the microwave then just fell to pieces when cut & trying to put jam & cream on. The strawberry jam must have been the cheapest possible jam you could buy. The clotted cream came out in 2 opened individual Roddas clotted cream tubs such as you would find in a supermarket which was fine. However, they were half full & looked very much like the little plastic tubs had been reused, washed out badly because there was a dirty ridge line of old cream towards the top of the plastic pot & refilled. The only saving grace was the Earl Grey tea which was good & the extra 70p was deducted off the bill when questioned. Can’t say I would return or recommend visiting based on that visit.

Visited here today for lunch. Service was efficient and staff were pleasant. Food however was most disappointing. One pie of the day (minced beef and onion) and one scampi with chips. 2 hot drinks. The pie was as hard as rock on the top and took my husband quite some force to break it open. The contents were not appetising, lacked flavour and not to be recommended. The scampi was not of good quality. On both dishes the 'chunky' chips were dry and not at all pleasant. On looking around the cafe most people had left quite a bit of food on their plates, leading us to believe that other dishes were not acceptable either. Not a good experience at a time when cafes should be doing their best to encourage customers to frequent their establishments. Sadly we will not return, nor will we recommend.

Great location and great food Popped in due to hearing so much about it through friends and I can see why really didn't disappoint The pub is beautiful inside and very cosy. The staff were extremely attentive and the service was really on par with some of the great restaurants in London we have eaten in. Our server I think was a manager called Simon who couldn't do enough for us. Our twins particularly liked him as he showed them with not only crayons to colour but a little sticker each. We will definitely be returning when we are back in town next year 🙌

Visited with a couple of friends, we were made very welcome, great atmosphere, lovely and warm, ice cold wine and delicious food. Don’t need to say any more! If you want a lovely pub, with parking and a beer garden looking across the river towards Shrewsbury quarry then this is the place to go!

The Sunday carvery is amazing and the staff are so helpful. We visited in September 2024 and were blown away by the effort the staff made in getting vegetarian options for one family member, they even had special gravy. A nice relaxed atmosphere and great quality food.
