Unfortunately it wasn't as good as our previous stays and it's in need of some investment. The room itself is comfortable and clean but the wi fi is appalling (it's never been brilliant but depends on which room you are in). The television signal is good enough for 2 channels only. This time, room four, the bed springs were making it very uncomfortable for a decent night's sleep. On a positive note, the breakfast is very good but no cereal this time, still we didn't go hungry. For the money, its elsewhere next time for a stay.

I stayed here last week for 2 nights I came across this hidden gem when I rang a neighbouring b&b couldn’t accept me as it was full I rang number made the booking without knowing where I was going. Upon arrival I checked in to what I’d describe as home from home it was perfect the room had all amenities you need and it’s comfortable the breakfast was included and it was of finest quality I had a very comfortable stay as it for work I going back again , I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending b&b or tea room as both amazing along with very attentive staff 5 stars all the way for me .

A very nice full English with a cheese oat cake , orange juice and coffee set us up nicely for the day. There was a fairly comprehensive menu for those that prefer a little less on their plate. Reasonable prices and friendly efficient staff ronded the experience off well.

We called in to this tea room after doing a little research to find a dog friendly cafe where we could sit inside with our pooch. The cafe is a traditional tea room and we were very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food on offer. My husband had the roast beef bap and chips and I had a jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw. Both meals were nicely presented, good portion sizes and very tasty. We had a coffee each and the price was £20 which we thought was very good value for money considering the quality of the ingredients used. I would definitely recommend this cafe/tearoom to anyone visiting the area especially if you have a four legged friend with you.

Fantastic food at a great price, a good menu and daily 'specials' The wife had beef and ale pie with chips and just peas by request, it came with a jug of gravy and it was certainly a good portion. I had ham, egg, chips and beans. Again, good portions, lots of lovely ham, chips, 2 eggs and a ramekin of beans. Others had sausage egg and chips, and one had traditional Staffordshire Oatcakes with cheese, chips, hash browns and beans. Can't fault it, I noted on the menu you can 'build' a breakfast which gives plenty of options, and it is available all day. Try it.

Great vegan and gluten-free options. I came here as a result of a recommendation due to having coeliac disease and struggling for vegan options. I was not disappointed. I sat outside due to it being a nice sunny day. I had the vegan full English with a gluten free Staffordshire oatcake, I couldn’t believe it was an option, I was so happy but sceptical about how it would taste! I needn’t of been as it was lovely! If I was being picky it would be that the hash browns were a bit greasy or soggy and I like them a bit crispier so I left some but I’d definitely return and I’m very grateful to have all of these options thank you!

We received a text with the door codes for entry and all worked OK. The room was fine, all clean, probably needed a bit of tlc in places but perfectly functional. There was a well stocked tea tray and the wi fi generally worked OK but was a bit patchy at times. Bed and pillows were comfy enough. Breakfast was from 8.30 in the tea room downstairs. Absolutely delicious, juice, choice of cereal and choice of hot dishes. My only comment is that the toast should be served on a side plate and not with the hot items. The toast gets soggy etc The member of staff in the tea room was lovely being courteous and efficient

What a perplexing nook of the small market town this is. Upon entrance I had to double take, did I just walk into a yard sale? All around you, you will notice almost immediately the somewhat charming, mostly silly - tat - strewn about the place. And yes I do mean tat; junk, rubbish, coffee at Grandma's-esque. I'd find it endearing if it wasn't so obnoxious. Sit yourself in either the foyer or living room? The menu's are ready and waiting for you, grubby, plastic and well rehearsed. I've been to the White Hart a few times so I'm writing from experience here; the food is average at best and hysterically abysmal at worst. Pitched somewhere between lazy, greasy middle England pub grub and the most out-dated - comically out-dated - slop you've ever seen come out of a kitchen. I applaud its tenacity for steering clear of the pretentious gastro knock-off we see so frequently now, but this is reminiscent of actively rejecting modern cuisine expectations - in a profoundly mediocre, so-so, boilerplate kind of way. Please do better.

My wife and I stopped for lunch today in Leek. We examined the menu at the White Hart and settled on Scampi and homemade chips for my wife and Sausage Egg and homemade chips for me. When the meals arrived my wife's Scampi was a little translucent and squidgy - undercooked! She called the waitress over and she apologised and took the meal back to the kitchen. A few moments later she came back and told us that they had checked the temperature with a thermometer and the Scampi was the correct temperature, however if we wished they would cook a fresh batch. We greed that would be fine. Of course this took time and I had finished my meal by the time my wife's fresh meal had arrived. The Scampi was nicely cooked and completely different to the first meal. My sausage egg and chips was nicely cooked and enjoyable too, but the chips were frozen chips, not the "homemade chips" on the menu.

The White Hart has upheld this claim for several years, my breakfasting companion told me. So we thought we'd try it! We were the first customers that morning, closely followed by a solo chap. We sat in the window, watching the traffic and the pedestrians go by and after a short while, a chatty waitress appeared to take our order with a smile. We ordered the full breakfast advertised on the board outside - one of us with white toast, the other with Staffordshire Oatcakes. Our pot of tea and mug of coffee arrived on the table whilst our breakfast was cooking. When our plates of food arrived, they were full and looked inviting. I'd forgotten to ask for no tomato, but that was easily dispensed of onto my companion's plate! The food was very good, although we didn't rate the sausages greatly. Ash's butchers and 'Farm to Shop' sell excellent and tasty ones. We certainly approved of up to 35 local businesses being used as sources however. The Staffordshire Oatcakes were very nice, but could have benefited from not being folded into quarters, as they were a tad overcooked in the corner.I'd been to the White Hart solo a few months ago and enjoyed their delicious Lemon Tart and a pot of tea, but did have to mention that the price labelling for the dessert wasn't very clear in the cabinet. When going to the back of the cafe for the [clean] toilet, I was surprise to find the patio and pergola seating area outside. What a delightful scene it was!

Visited for lunch on a busy market day with my husband. Nice roomy tea rooms. Two bright, clean rooms to choose from. Plenty of tables and well spaced out, so lots of room around the tables. Good, varied menu with a specials board and very reasonable prices. We both had a full English breakfast which was freshly cooked. It had two sausages, two rashers of bacon, black pudding, egg, cooked to preference, mushrooms, baked beans and plum tomatoes. Also a choice of toast and/or local oatcakes. We had a huge pot of tea as well and our bill was just over £12. All the meals we saw being brought out looked very appetizing and well presented, everyone cleared their plates, so presume they were tasty too! Nice selection of homemade cakes available, which looked lovely. Staff were pleasant and attentive. Highly recommended and would definitely revisit

Stayed for a night in the bed and breakfast. The room was clean and of a reasonable size; it had what you would expect in the way of facilities. But for four stars the breakfast had little choice in the way of cereal, juice or anything but fry-up style. We also had to sit next to the most appallingly noisy fridge in the tea room whilst eating. For four stars I would expect more in the way of choice and a few added luxuries in the room - not just standard tea, coffee and pots of UHT. It wasn't expensive however, and the business is currently for sale - perhaps this has lead to a lack of finesse?

Super efficient staff, perfect for a simple meal. Food is tasty ( especially the chips!!), larger than it looks! Good for groups.

This place is handy for me as it is just over the road from where i work, the food is ok but sometimes the baken is bad and just cheese on toast was not done on one side so i got a cheese sandwich. Staff were good but it has gone down bank on that front.

A charming and cozy little pub that feels refreshingly different from the typical Greene King franchise. The bar staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, engaging in delightful conversation that added a personal touch to our visit. The food was excellent – we tried the sharing platters and were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions and great value. The pub’s Christmas decorations were beautifully done, creating a warm and festive atmosphere that made our experience even more enjoyable. This is easily one of the best Greene King locations we’ve visited locally, and we’ll definitely be returning!

This is a fantastic pub. From the moment we walked in the staff were lovely couldn't be more attentive and also made a fuss of my daughter. Food was delicious and portion sizes were good. Especially factoring in the price. Would definitely recommend.

The food and atmosphere were both very good. And the servers were helpful and friendly. However the 3 behind the bar couldn’t be bothered to answer questions about the menu
