We had the pleasure of visiting the master potter in cheadle last night. It was a wonderful atmosphere complimented with live entertainment, ( a female singer). But we were most impressed by a particular member of staff named ollie . At first glance a daunting figure, (big guy with tattoo's) he was in fact a very friendly warm and welcoming person who on a busy night seemed to be holding up front of house virtually on his own . Although he seemed to be run off his feet he remained sharp professional and very attentive. So much so it prompted me to leave this review. Well done ollie 👏 it was a pleasure to be of your acquaintance for the evening you made us feel very welcome and your work ethic shone through, very impressive . We will definitely visit again Thankyou.

Grab a cup of tea and a biscuit for this one. We’ve been eating at the Master Potter for the last four years “. We come to visit Alton Towers and always stay for 3 to 4 days at a time. Master Potter had always been our fail safe, go-to for reasonably priced dinners and drinks. So when we turned up today it was a lovely surprise to see that they had a well deserved refit as the decor previously was very tired. That’s where the good things ended. The menu has changed and food is more expensive with less options. Service was sooooo slow but then there were staff behind the bar and a one-woman band running around like a headless chicken. When we walked in there was nobody to say hello or advise on where to sit. There were dirty tables. We went with the one that only had 4 dirty glasses on it. We didn’t mind that ordering from the table was now a thing. However, we waited a good 15 minutes after ordering for our drinks to arrive. Our drinks were dropped off and the dirty glasses got left behind. So we cleared it ourselves. Our daughter had a bottle of sparkling water and a glass with ice. The glass had remnants of the last drink stuck round the rim so we took that back and got another. Only for that one to smell like it had some kind of bad infection. My partner took it back to the bar and after some coaxing convinced the woman behind the bar to give it a sniff. She swiftly changed it. Only that one smelled worse (if that was even possible). In the end our daughter drank out of the bottle. If only things got better from here - but guess what? - It didn’t. Food took another 30 minutes to arrive. By now a scabby (hungry) horse would’ve been a great option. Our eldest ordered a triple burger with cheese and no salad, with chips. But guess what? No cheese. Had salad though! Apparently that’s what we asked for because by now the servers behind the bar were geared up for an argument. Our receipt begs to differ. We weren’t believed so our son removed the salad and ate his dry burger minus his cheese. The starters were all pretty standard. Fried wings and chicken strips. Myself and my fiance had the mixed grill for mains. The chicken was dry. Reminded me of Friday Night Dinner (IYKYK). Daughter had the chicken and ham pie with mash. Mash looked crusty round the edges and was begging for mercy. The pie was apparently ok. There was an elder gentleman ordering 2 double gin and tonics. He wasn’t allowed to order that - the server behind the bar said he had to have and pay for 4 singles. She was very argumentative about this. Then she cottoned on and asked him if he wanted it in 2 glasses. Doh! So he’s set us right up for our finale…. Our eldest celebrated his 20th birthday on Tuesday. For minds-eye purposes he’d give Chewbacca a run for his money in the hairy stakes, plus he’s 6ft 4. Now, with hindsight being a wonderful thing he’d have brought his provisional license as proof of age. Nope. We’re on holiday and he’s never been asked before. So he was refused to buy us a drink because of the Challenge 25 rule. Rules are rules and that’s fair enough. However. There were plenty of other men in there who looked younger than him, yet we didn’t see any of them being asked and we were in there for longer than we expected to be. So we saw a lot of goings on. After a final argument between my partner and the server behind the bar, our son was ALLOWED to PAY for the drinks, despite him not having ID - he was allowed to buy my cider but not a drink for himself. Now. If that’s not backwards I don’t know what is! We won’t be going back again. For context, we used to pay around £70 for starters, mains, drinks and pud. Service was always great, even during peak Summer. Today it was just under £100 and we didn’t stop for pud - service was very sub-standard and they weren’t full.

The decor is quite beautiful, staff were lovely and very helpful, service was quick and environment was clean. All of this negated the food that arrived, one very dry chicken with congealed cheese, overdone dry chips and £12 for 2 tiny skinny pre-packaged and extremely overcooked burgers - for that price you'd expect a proper sized gourmet burger. We raised the issue with staff who very quickly rectified it - the replacements were better but certainly nothing to write home about. Overall, we won't be returning; front of house and environment are of a high standard but the kitchen staff/practices seriously let the side down.

We had pre-ordered our meals and communication with staff(both from pre-booking until the party) was second to none. Meals came out all together and as quickly as poss considering we were a big group and presentation was great. Plenty of well cooked Christmas fayre and everyone was happy with a full tummy! Team Potter were fabulous from point of booking and made even easier as amendments and menu choices could be made via the app-and any small menu change requests were made where possible. The refurbishment is incredible however there are two main issues still ongoing. The wait time on food is the worst it’s ever been, I waited up to an hour and a-bit for 4meals to arrive to the table, and when they arrived they were cold, the young waitress was on her own trying her absolute best, the lack of staff is poor and I felt extremely sorry for the young waitress. The prices for the standard of food is ridiculous, food should not be arriving cold and should be presented exactly how showed online, the menu is even smaller now and there is still issues on the food behalf of the Master potter, some things just don’t change!

I've not been to the MP for years, my experience was that it was a run down, rather neglected pub chain that had been forgotten about by Greene King. When I heard that it had been refurbished and given a new lease of life I decided to give it another go- and I'm so pleased I did! The decor is lovely, fresh and inviting, and I'm staggered with the sheer amount of space there is now! It looks modern and well thought out. The staff are lovely and welcoming and keep the place in good order. We had some cibatta lunch rolls with sides and they were absolutely delicious. The rosemary salted chips are particularly good! Overall a very pleasant surprise for the Master Potter, and a great value alternative to challenge the chokehold Wetherspoons has on Cheadle!

Firstly I will say the new refurb is lovely, it looks really funky and cool. The staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the food quality has severely declined since the renovation. The old menu had a great range of Vegan choices and vegetarian, unfortunately there’s only now the Mushroom Chilli and the Beyond Meat burger. I had a beyond meat burger and it came with no sauce, no side salad, just a few “rosemary fries”, but I was unable to taste rosemary. It wasn’t very warm either. - other Greene kings have better/more options for example the Vegan bbq cheesy chips and vegan nachos. 3 family members went for the Mac and cheese, it looked undercooked and lacked flavour, a bit more cheese would have been great! One family member ordered the steak (£14 something) and it was tough to cut, the sausage on the side didn’t look cooked. It’s a real shame. I wish they had the old menu to fit with how nicely they’ve decorated!

This was our 3rd visit since the refurb. This is our 'local' go to for family celebrations. The new layout is very attractive and comfortable. Lovely decor. The Staff are really friendly and helpful. But the food is a real let down. Not a patch on the previous menu's. There is far less choice, smaller plates and and most of the the choices are of a poor quality and bland. Certainly over priced for what is on offer. This also applies to many of the drinks. Come on Management do something quickly, or lose your brilliant staff, they shouldn't have to shoulder the complains, and your regular customers.

Got say what a wonderful welcome we had when first arrived from a lovely smiley young lady name Ria, she looked after us throughout our visit. The food was excellent and the atmosphere very welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be returning. Thank you so much.

Met my friend at the recently revamped Master Potter, for our bi-monthly get together. We have been before but the change was clear to see. The pub was quite busy and the atmosphere was lovely. Really nice outdoor area which I am sure we will try in the summer. Staff were very helpful and came regularly to check everything was ok and cleaned the empty table immediately which was great. I was 'encouraged' to try the halloumi with sweet chilli sauce starter - highly recommend and the cheesy garlic bread was delicious. We then both had the katsu curry which came with wild rice and chips, absolutely piping hot and delicious and I was so full at the end I didn't have room to try the cookie with ice-cream that I had spotted but that will definitely be sampled next time. All in all a great night, lovely venue and really nice staff that are extremely helpful - would highly recommend a visit.

Shocking, first we had booked for 7 adults for a birthday. The table was barely big enough for six. Orders for drinks, only one med glass of pino... that was the ONLY white wine they had on the premises but they did manage to squeeze a large red wine from somewhere...and that was the end of the red as well. I could go on and on but have better things to do. Suffice to say, the food ranged from awful to mediocre and the whole experience was ghastly. To add insult to injury they didn't even wish the birthday girl a happy birthday 😕😕🥴

We recently stumbled across this gem of a pub midway through a circular walk from Longnor. It’s only just re-opened after some ownership changes. If Ant & Syd can deliver the plans they’re hoping for then this place is going straight to the top of my favourite pubs list. It’s already up there. How the lads manage to renovate whilst maintaining this old building’s authenticity will be a challenge. With plans for an adjacent camping field this place is almost too good to be true and while they work on their project anyone who loves a good old (literally) fashioned pub with good ale should support it. We will be.

Visited for a wake after a funeral, warm, welcoming and extremely attentive service, the staff worked tirelessly to ensure all the guest had a continuous supply of tea, coffee or dinks. The buffet was pleasantly served to us all - not just grab and go! Amazing service level and quality to complete what is always a difficult day.

OK this isn't a fully 5 star establishment serving gastro pub food but it's come a very long way from it's former iteration as just one Leek's (the town where it's located) late night boozers with a bit of a dance floor. It now serves very good homemade food, hot meat sandwiches, haddock and chips etc with everything homemade and on good quality bread (sourdough etc). Service is great, atmosphere pleasant, food excellent, probably the best pub lunch in Leek unless you venture further out into the sticks.
