Stumbled across this little pub whilst staying in Alton Towers only 15 minutes away from the theme park and it was a great experience, food exceeded expectations and service was excellent. We ordered the soup of the day, breaded Camembert and bao buns for the starter and for the mains we got the duck noodles, venison lasagne, chicken pasta and the belly pork with garlic mash. Food was superb and couldn’t fault the service, it is definitely worth the visit.

Came here for my birthday . Staff were very friendly and efficient. Food was lovely . Couldn't fault anything . Very resonably priced . Menu had lots of choice with a bonus of the special board . Something for everyone . Portions are very generous too . Would definatley go back again and again .

Yet another excellent meal at the Queens Arms yesterday. Whether you go with the standard menus or one of the daily specials you are never disappointed. Quality of food and presentation excellent and you can always depend on a warm friendly welcome and excellent service.

Nice pub, excellent food, lovely atmosphere . Attentive service from new waitress who did an excellent job . Would recommend.

The Queens is consistently excellent, and is our favourite lunch venue. The staff are lovely, so friendly and welcoming, and very attentive. We loved the menu today, so many tasty options - the venison lasagne was delicious, and I loved the duck with noodles - so flavourful. We hope to return soon.

Always has and always will be one of my favourite spots for dining! Whether it’s a quick lunch from the lite bites menu or a hearty meal from the dinner menu the food is always delicious and always presented beautifully. Mother’s Day had a lovely atmosphere and the food was amazing as usual! The waiting on and bar staff were very friendly and attentive and all mothers were celebrated by being gifted flowers from the restaurant, this was a lovely touch and a very thoughtful surprise to us all. Well done to everybody who pulled off another wonderful dinner service!

Fantastic service as always whilst out with family for Mother’s Day! Friendly, efficient and extremely tasty - topped off by a lovely potted plant for all the ladies. Couldn’t ask for more and would highly recommend as always very welcoming!

We went yesterday for our family Mothers Day meal. We have visited often and chose The Queens as it is one of the only places that you are guaranteed excellent food and fabulous service every visit. Yesterday did not disappoint, everything was really lovely and all the staff were amazing- it was really busy. I had the salmon and it was delicious. Thank you to Ade and all your staff for a lovely Mothers Day.

I’d like to start off by saying this review is not based on the waiting staff. The waiting staff and bar staff were lovely and I have absolutely no issues with the service - in-fact I applaud their professionalism and kindness. We were seated at a small table for eight people - it would have been more appropriate for four, maybe six. The restaurant itself was cramped and each time we left the table we had to apologise to others for interrupting their meal as we squeezed between tables. The food was poor. Although the starters were nice, the mains were questionable. My salmon was dry and the sauce was very salty and remained uneaten. We were told this would come with dauphinois potatoes that never arrived. Some roast potatoes were delivered, however it was agreed and admitted to by the waitress, that these were aunt Bessie’s. The majority of roasts ordered remained uneaten due to undercooked vegetables, overcooked beef and black Yorkshire puddings. During our time there, the bar ran out of Pinot Grigio, white Zinfandel, dry rose and most shockingly, lemonade. We could have quite happily spent the afternoon there, despite the awful food, but when it became apparent that the bar was dry, it was was appropriate for us to make an exit. Again the staff were lovely, our complaints were made to the manager who didn’t seem too fussed, however the staff were embarrassed on the establishment’s behalf and I would return simply for their service, but only for a drink (if drinks are available).

Wow!!!! Where do i start!!!! If you are looking for good food then please don’t go here!!!! If you like pino Grigio don’t go here because they run out!!!! If you want lemonade then please don’t go here because they run out!!!! Basically their food was horrendous and they ran out of wine and soft drinks on Mother’s Day but still charged me £300.00 horrendous please don’t go there if you want quality food?? It’s all microwave and frozen and not cooked to a good quality!!! Horrendous meal!!!

Went tonight for a meal six of us. The service was very slow and a few meals were sold out not very impressed plus the deserts are very expensive

Celebration of my wife's birthday. Food was amazing and fresh. Table service was good and professional. A great atmosphere making it a fantastic family meal.

The food was very high standard and interesting. My beef and merlot pie was something I had never had before and was so full of beef, so rich and tasty. The cauliflower cheese side dish was beautiful. The staff were friendly without being intrusive and there was enough space to feel relaxed and comfortable. I wish I’d known about this place before, I will definitely go again.

Went here for a pint before heading into Cheadle, the lady behind the bar was lovely, we didn't eat but the food looked so good we booked in for the next day :) well priced for the area and would go back. It opens 12pm and closes around 2pm then reopens at 6pm again

We visited here for my fathers 70th birthday. There were 17 of us and they catered for our various special requests. We all enjoyed our meals, which were hot, plentiful and delicious. The staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. We had a great time and would not hesitate to recommend or return.

The Queens is an independent dining venue with actual named chefs! A nicely blended mix of a pub atmosphere with a more formal restaurant edge. You're made welcome and well looked after the second you step in, making it a more personal experience. The menu isn't massive, but it's varied and there's a great specials board, often with a selection of fish dishes that you don't tend to find in similar pub restaurants. They use quality ingredients and it shows.

I visited with a group of friends for a Christmas get together. Was very disappointed! Very expensive for what it was! No atmosphere at all. Will be a long time, if ever, before I go again.

Had a table for 17 for a 70th birthday party. The service was excellent and the staff couldn't do enough to help even with special requests. The food was amazing and everyone praised their meal. I would definitely recommend this venue and will certainly return.

Absolutely amazing food and service. Adrian and the team were incredibly helpful and friendly. The food wax absolutely delicious and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Lovely restaurant, parking is good and Sunday lunch was delicious.

Very relaxing experience, plenty of room between tables, will definitely go again.

I came up from London to take my sister out for her birthday she chose the restaurant. I have to say what a choice lovely location. Food was outstanding and the service by the two young ladies was over and above nothing was to much trouble for them.

We went to the queens on Sunday 19th November for my Husband's 80th Birthday. 30 of us for a meal.The food was amazing ,the staff were so helpful,we had a wonderful evening.Thank you Adrian and staff. GILL & ALAN Nixon.

We visited The Queens for an evening meal after seeing the excellent reviews on trip advisor. It did not disappoint! All the meals were cooked to perfection and well presented. The service was great and the staff consistantly attentive without being over the top. There was a large party in for an 18th celebration meal but that did not affect the service we received. We were very impressed and will definetly return.

Been many times over the years and still remains the firm favourite go- to restaurant. If I would have any slight criticism then it would be that choice of menu is quite small but adequate along with the odd extras on the specials board, but...

We ate off the specials menu tonight. The food was top class. The standard menu is good honest fare at a good price in a pleasant environment but when the the chef can extend himself to what produce is available at the time he can really showcase his talent. The meal tonight would have been good value at twice the price.

A real find. Lovely friendly welcome, a buzzy atmosphere. Comfortable and spacious seating and great clean decor. Food was imaginative and delicious but sadly so full, we didn't have room for dessert. We will definitely be back.

Nice lunch off the light bite menu for £7 About 6 choices on this menu and the portion size was good for lunch but you can have off the main menu too. It was a little noisy as there was a big party in but the atmosphere was nice. The pub is small but bright with a nice decor. Beer garden was nice on a sunny day with around 5 tables. Service was good and we didn't wait long for our food to arrive. Would go again.

Great food and excellent environment

The food was pretty good to be honest. Our group had a selection of mains and it all went down well. We didn't like the Eton mess and this was dealt with very professionally. So we would give a thumbs up.

We had some amazing food here. Felt like a family run place but the quality was top notch. We were staying the quarry walk lodges near by and wanted a meal out and glad we stopped buy. We had 3 courses which shows how much we liked it

Amazing food, Amazing Staff and cosy atmosphere, great little place

Family gathering of 8 adults plus a 2yr old. Very welcoming Staff, who promptly served us drinks and gave us Menus to study, plus several tempting 'specials' on the board. Orders taken and we were shown to our table. Food arrived soon afterwards, and it's fair to say that everyone, without exception, was very happy with the quality and quantity. We were all full, so skipped desserts, but they sounded very tempting (another time perhaps). To sum up, this was a very pleasant lunch experience. All members of Staff were very personable and we would all return if in the area again. (We were staying in a holiday cottage about 4 miles away).

Cracking little pub, turned mostly over to dining tables. So, more of a restaurant than pub. However, it offers two or three real ales alongside the normal stuff. Food looks lovely and it books up quickly, which gives you an idea of how good it is. Great staff.

My Wife has been a few times and likes it.

We have visited here for lunch on a Saturday three times now. Great choices on the menu with a specials board available too. Each time the food has been, well cooked, beautifully presented and delicious. We shall definitely be visiting again in the future. The staff are lovely, polite helpful and professional. The setting is very peaceful and quiet. A rather unspoilt charming place.

We have just been up at Quarry Walk for our Honeymoon. Our first night we went to The Queens at Freehay, what fabulous reception. The staff were so sweet and friendly, the food was out of this world delicious. We want to say a massive thank you to Laura and Grace for making our first night of our honeymoon the best it could have been. Especially to Laura for our lift home which was above and beyond.

Lovely service and the food is great. Love going there for special occasions. Booked for December and can't wait.
