Miserable rude staff, not enough staff about when you need them, little things felt like we were putting them out and average food at best. This place used to be fantastic !! I feel to charge the prices they do they need to seriously up their game!. More engaging friendly helpful staff needed !!!

Love the Stafford Arms and regularly visit. We normally have a couple bottles of wine with selection of snacks and sides which never disappoints. However last night we were very disappointed and would have been better off with a few bags of crisps rather than half a dozen tortilla crisps and salsa very poor value for money.

Come to the Stafford arms as we were staying at the Glamping holly grove farm, which they recommended to come here. The service was really quick, the location and inside was beautiful. Lovely and friendly staff and the food was so so nice. Would definitely go again.

Hi we went to Stafford arms tonight, 4 of us we had drinks which were very nice, we also ordered snacks which were very disappointing they used to be good value for money but not anymore.

We found this lovely pub whilst visiting the area. It’s a lovely looking pub and plenty of outdoor seating. Once inside the decor is very nice with great artwork. We were seated straight away. There is an extensive list of good food yes a little expensive but you pay more for good food. There are plenty of gluten free options there is a little bit of a longer wait for GF food due to food being cooked separately. The food was well cooked and delicious. It is waitress service The staff were friendly and helpful checking if everything was okay with meals, they did get the drinks order wrong but easily sorted. The pudding menu sounded delicious but just too full for pudding. Will most definitely visit again if in the area again.

I have to say love going to the Stafford Arms and try and go regular,went a few days ago and as always the food and the service in the restaurant was great as it always is.My only gripe is the bar selection there are no continental bottled beers available only Peroni gluten free or San Miguel 0,i would say most places you go these days do have a selection,this is not a complaint just constructive criticism and hope these comments are taken onboard

The perfect country pub, which we are lucky to live a stones throw away from. My favourite place for a Sunday lunch, this place never disappoints. Friendly attentive staff in a quaint country pub setting with fabulous food. A gem.

Local pub with decent food and drink

We've visited a few times before and decided on a whim to go on a Wednesday early evening. Arrived around 6pm and there was plenty of space inside and out. It was a nice day so we sat outside in front of the pub in the largeish beer garden. Food was delicious, had the chicken and leek pie and feather shin of beef. Both were fantastic. Would highly recommend, you can dine inside or out, in the restaurant or the bar, both have slightly different menus.

We love this place and travel to it. We were slightly disappointed with the food Let me explain we ordered corned beef and poached egg for starter and a goats cheese and figs the latter was gorgeous however the corned beef in a panel crumb I couldn't cut through it with a standard knife I think this was overdone and the poached was a boiled egg as overdone too .We ordered chicken ceasar salad which was lovely but it didn't have any anchovies on it but they are on the menu which is why we ordered it We will still visit as the drinks available are amazing they did knock off the corned beef starter but we didn't ask for them to do that we love the decor etc The staff were also amazing so we just thought we would review it just so your aware and correct any issues raised J Eand T E.

I was so looking forward to our dining experience but the food appeared precooked and then reheated making it over cooked! I suppose this is the danger of a preorder booking. My grandsons chicken goujons were inedible! No-one asked us if our found was ok so I had to go over to the bar to let them know. They were hard and more than overcooked! The staff apologised and said that it would take a few minutes to make some fresh ones but 20 mins later my grandson was still waiting while most of us had finished dining! The whole family were disappointed by the meal and I did feel very guilty because it had been my idea to dine here. I’d heard lots of different views snout the food recently and I wish that I’d listened. My hubbies birthday family tea was not a pheasant experience. Gutted!

Went for a Sunday roast and the food we did get was nice, but for a £20+ roast to only have meat, stuffing, roast & new potatoes, cauliflower, carrots, and cabbage (no mash, yorkshires) and only have a relatively small portion is disappointing. Left hungry and a bit unsatisfied, I would recommend looking elsewhere as the price is excessive for what you get

Had a lovely time here. The staff were lovely and kind, and service was quick. I highly recommend the 12oz Gammon steak, it tastes exquisite when paired with the brown sauce that comes along with it. The chips were something unlike I had eaten before, cooked to perfection and perfectly salted. I’ve found the black pudding at many restaurants to be hit-and-miss, but here, it was absolutely lovely. The lemonade didn’t taste like soda water, something that I’ve encountered in the past. Absolutely 10/10 and would come again.

Delicious food, food was hot, staff very efficient, service was quick, sat in the older part of the building, very traditional with dome modern touches.

For the second year running, our family enjoyed Mother's Day lunch at The Stafford Arms! We pre-ordered from a good selection of all three courses and upon arrival, were shown into the bar for drinks whilst our table was prepared. We were seated on time and served with our starters promptly. All of our food was beautifully presented, hot and plentiful so all happy! Despite obviously so many parties booked for Mother's Day, the service was friendly and attentive and everything considered, we were most satisfied with our choice of venue. The additional Primula (plant) gift for the ladies was a lovely touch too! If I had one small suggestion, it would be to offer two courses as an option. I understand that guaranteed income is reduced on the day but this would definitely have benefitted one or two in our party. Just an idea! We can only imagine what hard work goes on behind the scenes to produce such an amazing experience. Thank you to all the team! 😊

Nice pint, lovely warm atmosphere

We popped in for a quick drink after visiting a local nursery. Its a place i've not been to in 30 years, boxing day beers with my brother's family. It has changed internally for sure and the beer garden looks more enticing. There was a crowd of people in both dining halls and a mixture of folks in the bar. My wife liked its old age charm, tick in the box for me!

Although we had a reservation, the table we were given was not appropriate and we had to request another chair to squeeze on. Service was very slow, after half an hour we had to find someone. The starters took another 40 minutes to arrive. Then a long wait for the main courses, of which three were incorrect, we had asked for salad in place of chips. And they brought chips. When asked to rectify, the "remedy" was simply to remove the chips and claim the replacement salad was on the bun, when clearly it was not as other burgers had exactly the same salad. One burger was so oily the bottom of the bun stuck to the plate. We waited another half an hour to order puddings but gave up, paid and left. We regularly visit the Stafford Arms spending £250 to £350 a visit, this was a very disappointing experience, to the extent we won't be returning.

Visited for lunch, we hadn’t booked but were quickly accommodated in a lovely airy part of the restaurant. It was busy, yet it didn’t feel it. Excellent tasty food and good service. The only thing, was in retrospect we saw online that they had an additional special menu on this day which we were denied; we were only offered the main menu. This special menu had an additional selection of offerings which we might have chosen.

We hadn’t booked so arrived and asked for a table for 2, we were directed into the small pokey bar. We were not offered a place in the restaurant which only had a few people in there. One young lady behind the bar, she was good but needed another bar member, there was a male standing at the end of the bar just watching whilst we waited to be served. Where we were seated there was mould and damp on the walls and cracks too, shabby. The meals arrived we ate them and left. The meal was ok but definitely not worth the £46 we paid.

Absolutely fabulous, brilliant food, staff, pricing, felt at ease, never thought about covid, issues, can not wait to go again. Regular to this pub,for occasional pint ,and meals.

Eating out these days is expensive and often disappointing, in my experience, so we came in with low expectations. However, we had a wonderful meal for two. Compliments to the chef, it felt like the food had been freshly made to a good standard, which is hard to come by these days. Good attention had been paid to flavours, rather than just dowsing everything with salt. We had a starter and a main and were stuffed. The portion sizes were generous, food served lovely & hot, there was a good amount of veg with the dish (which is another thing pubs and restaurants seem to overlook). There was a good amount of extra gravy in the gravy boat for the pie. Atmosphere was great, service was great. Everywhere felt clean. All things that are important to a nice meal out. Will recommend and hope to return.

Lovely food on the 2 courses for £18.95 menu -masses of meat in the chicken and ham pie and very tasty! Half price fizz on a Friday is a great deal! It was quite empty for a Friday lunchtime but it was a very cold day. Nice that we were sitting next to a radiator!

Very good. The Bass is excellent and as an added bonus they had Hook Norton on as well. All in all very enjoyable and dog friendly too, give it a visit I don't think you'll be disappointed 🙂

12 of us came for a christmas family party. The food was excellent and the staff were really polite and friendly.

16 of us visited early December for our xmas outing . Food was served piping hot & efficiently considering the large number . We were all very happy , a query on a couple of the desserts was dealt with satisfactorily. We would be happy to return

Was with a party of 7, food was great and atmosphere was great with the exception of the table size, a larger table would have been great considering there were 7 of us as it was a little cramped. Still, food was amazing.

We were booked in as a party of 4. Our booking was for 7.30 pm. However on arrival the table was not ready, so we were asked to go to the bar for drinks. We were eventually taken through to our table, 45 minutes late. After ordering the main courses the waitress came back some time later to say there would be a long delay, so offered the option of some starters which we did order as we were all by now very hungry. Finally 70 minutes after our table was booked, we got our main courses. The food itself was lovely, however the whole experience was spoilt by the delays and no real acknowledgment by staff of the wait we had. When the bill arrived we asked for a refund on the starters which we only ordered due the restaurant delays, which after the waitess spoke to the manager, we were given a partial refund. I fully appreciate that the pub may be busy, however if bookings are taken then these need to serviced much better. Lovely country pub, lovely food let down by lack of acknowlegment of delays. I would not go back as other pubs in the area offer a better all round experience.

Visited with a wedding party. Bustling pub with a lot of regulars. The food was lovely, the room we were in was lovely and the staff were efficient and friendly.

Took care of a family wedding party, with excellent food and seamless service, all in a most pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. Everything you could need.

Was very disappointed. Our table was in between families with noisy children so we asked to be moved somewhere quieter, the waiter agreed that it was noisy so we were then put on a table next to the fire exit door which was drafty and cold so we sat and had our meal with our coats on, there was also no heating on...it was 3c outside! Our starters were very nice but the mains were both drowned in gravy which ruined the meal. It was all together not enjoyable so will not be returning.

food is good quality for you get, good size portions but a bit dear. Nice place for somewhere special tho would recommend it.

We visited on a Sunday evening and I’m so pleased we did. The food is excellent and worth the price if you ask me. Pay peanuts, get monkeys. Not here, though! Service was pleasant and attentive. The decor is modern yet cosy. We will definitely be back to this gem!

I had my baby shower at the Stafford arms yesterday, they were so helpful from booking the venue up to the end of the actual day. Everyone complemented the buffet food it was lovely and the lady serving was really polite and kind. They kept us up to date with how much food we had left and tea and coffee. I asked for a cake if had made to be cut up and they did this without hesitation. They were very clear with what decorations we can and can’t have which made it easy to plan ahead. Overall we had a fab day and everyone who came had a lovely time. Thank you very much

We have just visited the Stafford Arms for lunch and it was simply the best meal we have had out for a long time. The service was brilliant, the food was delicious. Highly recommend the sirloin steak, fish and chips and the orange and almond cake with ice cream. Homemade chips makes all the difference to a meal! We'll definitely be back.

We went on a busy Friday night for drinks, and ordered lots of small plates/starters to share. The food was excellent, and the service from Poppy was excellent also! What a wonderful, confident and professional server. Happy to have a laugh with us as she served us, and made a lovely night even better!

Local pub of ours with fantastic food always! However there is one member of staff who lets the whole team down!! they are rude beyond belief, stomp round the restaurant huffing at customers, not friendly or approachable in any way what’s so ever. We visited with 3 other couples and each one said the same thing about them. Such a shame as the food is always spot on but this person puts us off every single time we go. The other staff are lovely and can’t do enough for you so I don’t want this review to reflect badly on them…. I’m sure they all know who ‘the person’ is. The pub would be a much nicer place without :)

Rely nice country pub/restaurant. Service was good, attentive without being over the top. Food was good. Had three course between us. Halloumi fries with chilli jam was delicious to start. Went for roast beef dinners as main. Pretty good overall with plenty of flavours. Served nice and hot with tasty vegetables. Yorkshire puddings were nice but seemed like they weren't hand made. Cheesecake desert was good. Coconut ice-cream was delicious but the biscuit base was very thin and soggy. Personal preference is a thicker crunchier biscuit. Wine choice was very good. Very reasonably priced! Will definitely return.

In a beautiful location and amazing food. We all had roast dinners from the Sunday menu… the vegetarian option of roast was really nice. Very impressed would highly recommend to anyone. I would love to return in the winter months I can imagine it’s a really lovely, cosy atmosphere:)

Great Sunday lunch. Disappointed that you can't swap the stater for a dessert on the 2 courses for £21. Hard to understand how you can justify charging £8.95 for a slice of cheesecake with a scoop of ice cream.

Fantastic tradition looking pub that also does incredible restaurant style food. A definite if you’re in the area! One of my personal favourites - the trout was unbelievable!

We had a fabulous time! The food was amazing and the staff were brilliant! My husband was very impressed with the wine selection and that the red was cooled at the right temperature! We will certainly be visiting again!

Called in on a Friday lunch time after finishing work with my husband on recommendation from a friend. The place has a lovely relaxed atmosphere service was great, staff were polite and efficient even though they were busy with a funeral. The food was good and the resurant was busy had a lovely time and will definitely be returning. My husband says the salted caramel cake was outstanding 😋
