Staff were extremely rude from the outset, and I tried to order at the bar multiple times only to be told they were helping other people. I wanted to take a picture of the bar, but they told me no photos. That’s fine, if it is an actual policy, which should be written. I mean, seriously, when are photos not allowed to be taken of a bar?? Honestly I think I rubbed someone the wrong way at the outset when I tried to order at the bar downstairs which I was told is not a bar. Or maybe they just don’t like Americans. Who knows… I left without getting a drink. Most likely they are so popular they just don’t care if one customer doesn’t get a beer and leaves. I won’t be back. Too bad since I had met another person at the Blue Mugge who worked there and said it was a good place. Oh well.

Food was very tasty and great selection of beer, unfortunately the quantity of food was bad. I ordered the chicken schnitzel burger and the tiny flattened bit of chicken was not filling in the slightest, to charge £13.95 is a bit much.

Nice big traditional pub with lots going on. Mostly drinkers observed on this particular evening, first visit, great prices on drinks and a sundown beer garden with privacy booths and outdoor music. Seemed like outside was a hit with the younger crowd and on a very hot day - the older crowd stayed indoors. Would visit again.

It was lovely. Great service and friendly staff. Wasn't busy when we went. New menu and price changes, good selection of beers ciders lagers and spirits, as well as lots of soft drinks, they have had new screens on the till, so you can see what you have ordered plus your titanic card points. The totally local burger is very small for the price. We get the bacon and cheese burger instead. However the quality of food is well worth the prices, tried the salmon fishcakes on Tuesday very good. The pub building is absolutely amazing, However we found it to be lacking in any atmosphere, a little bit of music would make a huge difference as it felt too small to have silence felt like you could hear other people's entire conversations. However bar staff were very friendly and engaging and the pub has a really good drink selection. Wish they would either remove or clean the curtains on the front windows as they are filthy and really put us off ordering food due to cleanliness concerns.

When we come into Leek for shopping, we invariably have lunch at the Roebuck. Being in our eighties, a particular attraction is the small, children's size, of fish and chips. Real fish, not fingers, and cooked to perfection., with tartare sauce and mushy peas. Our son had the adult equivalent, a mighty beast, and also cooked to perfection. Try the haloumi fries as a starter. Wide range of other meals available, including the Totally Locally burger, which represents amazing value; all ingredients come from within ten miles. Good choice of beers, well kept, mainly Titanic, but other breweries available. Warm and welcoming in the winter, and secluded outside tables in the summer, weather permitting. Car park free to customers, just submit your reg. number atthe counter. Courteous helpful staff make the whole outing a treat.

First visit here despite passing everyday, and often saying it must be good it’s always busy. So we turned up, Friday night with a party of 13 of us, fingers crossed they can accommodate us, as we hadn’t booked. Such a warm friendly welcome, despite a very very busy evening, seemed like nothing was going to faze them, and nothing was going to be too much trouble, and it certainly wasn’t. That’s a lot of stairs to be up and down with 13 people to serve. The food was great, the beers were well kept and in peak condition. We reckon they are part of a small chain of pub restaurants, if that’s right, I hope they’re all operated to this very high standard. Thanks to the chef, waiting staff and everyone who made our night top notch. We will be back.

My wife and I, with our best friends, wanted warmth and nourishment on a raw Sunday evening yesterday, and we couldn't have done better than the Roebuck. This pub never disappoints: the ambience is traditional, the staff (particularly Alex who was 'on' during our visit) are always very friendly, and as for the the food, I haven't had a meal there yet that was anything less than delicious. Three of us had the steak and ale pie yesterday, and I swear it was the best-tasting, fullest example I've ever eaten -- nothing but lean steak in that baby. Service was fine - food was bland and horrible. Not worth the money at all. Visited here with my friends for a sunday roast, probably the worst I’ve ever experienced. The veg was boiled and tasteless, the yorkshire pudding was as flat as a pancake and the cauliflower cheese randomly came with loads of paprika on it (which is probably to hide the fact that it tasted of nothing). Everything clearly comes straight from the microwave so any reviews on here that say the food is homemade are wrong. The halloumi fries are probably the best thing on the menu - they actually have a vague flavour. Luckily I’m only in Leek for 1 night so wont ever need to return!

All good until the third drink which wasn't chilled. On questioning why drink was warm we were told it was from the cellar but we could have ice!!! We also ordered two meals. The meat pie filling was tasty but the pastry very hard, not a freshly made shortcrust. Gravy boat a very old fashioned touch. Lol. Vegetarian options limited but put together a meal including one starter and two sides which was served on three plates. Apparently too difficult to plate all together. Food was tasty though. Nice relaxed atmosphere but no attention to detail.
