We had a disappointing Sunday Lunch here a decade ago. But given the plethora of 4.0+ reviews we thought we would give it another go. I wish we hadn't. Arriving for our 12.30pm Sunday lunch booking. The outside festooned with lovely flowers, but the lobby area is dank and dusty. We were left standing for 5 minutes the directed to table 17 by the guy on the carvery. We sat and wondered what the process to order was. No menu. No waiting staff. We went to the bar where an apologetic lady took our drinks order and said it was a carvery (£2 extra for lamb) The specials were " off " Were there starters? Desserts? We'll never know! £50 (for 3) Inc a coke and med wine. We were issued with tatty laminated vouchers. So still without any clear understanding we joined the queue. It was like school dinners. The guy carved the (turkey, beef or gammon) cauliflower cheese and a Yorkshire pudding, then you helped yourself to pretty much everything else, carrots, green beans and peas sitting in warm water, mash and roasties plus gravy. The meat was dry, the veg soggy, Yorkshire chewy, roasties greasy. It was edible. The tables were sticky, the place is stale. I note they are recruiting for a cleaner, bar staff and a chef. The place needs a complete deep clean. The process needs to be communicated clearly by staff or by signage. The food is not great and we won't be back. I note a lot of the positive reviews are from people using the attached campsite and not relevant to the food/drink offer. Uttoxeter does have good alternatives with Parilla and Lowes so we will l pay a bit more but guarantee service and quality there.

Great 3 night stay, perfect for my 2 nieces and toddler. Pitch size was great, loads of space, all staff were friendly and accommodating, my niece has Celiac disease they were fantastic catering for her. The play park is secure and safe, children really enjoyed playing there. The onsite caravan is the park warden so someone was always on hand if needed. We will stay again should we visit Alton towers again. 🤩

Managed to book a table for family birthday celebration.....13 of us..!! Sunday carvery was excellent, with a choice of two sizes of plate, so kids had small whilst adults all had very full plates. Home cooking, Lamb, Chicken, Gammon, Pork, Beef all available with copious quantities of veg, roasties and of course Yorkshires. For a carvery far better than any chain pub carver, Seriously good food. The pub was very busy and staff were doing their best keeping the food served as well as the bar. We were allowed to take our own birthday cakes which the staff kept in the kitchen and when needed they brought them out, candles burning and singing Happy Birthday, the kids were made up.... Brilliant celebration, thank you to all the staff Seriously recommended for the food

Lovely pub with onsite camping! Campsites were well maintained and had all the facilities needed, they were clean and well useable. A nice touch was offering ear plugs as it's located on a main road. We ate in the pub once and really enjoyed the food. We had pie and chips and the hunters chicken, both lovely and the homemade chips were delicious! Finished off with some ice cream!! We stayed during the week and the pub was quiet with only a couple of families and guests. All the staff made polite and genuine conversation and appeared to get on with the regulars. Only shame is that the pool table isn't in the main pub and located in the function room.

Stayed for 0ne night on the adjoining pitchup advertised camping site, firstly I advise you to avoid at all costs, the toilets and showers are without locks on doors, the tap water smells of urine, we ate pizza at the pub that too was disgusting, there were maggots crawling on the floor and I’m sure I saw a rat leave the kitchen by a drain. I,ve heard that they have been visited recently by the local environmental health agency,

We were staying in their campsite behind the pub, but we had some drinks both nights of our stay in the pub. Kids play area in the beer garden, loads of parking and space inside the pub. Only issue we found was with the shower block. 3 Blocks all containing 1 shower in and 2 toilets in each. The problem is, people are able to lock the main door, so if you want to use the toilet, and someone has locked that door to have a shower, you are waiting a long time. For us, 20 minutes...3 people all showering for 20 minutes locking the main door, so we cannot use the basins or toilets. They need to remove the locks for the main doors to resolve this. The shower doors have their own locks, so I don't see why it is necessary to lock everyone else out. Happy to stay here again, but will bring the Porta Pottie.

Absolutely lovely, John the owner and his partner are super friendly and always making sure you’re OK, facilities are regularly cleaned and maintained to a good standard…. Kids and dogs are made really welcome and the whole environment was lovely and chilled. We had a great evening meal at the pub!! So much choice we had pizzas for the kids , mixed grill and chicken burger all went down a treat. Special mention for the home cooked chips… Next to a busy -ish road and we were offered ear plugs but we live on a similar road so it was actually soothing for us. We decided to stay for carvery too and John was more than happy for us to stay pitched up until we needed. Already planning on returning with friends in the summer.

Great stay at the New Broom Campsite!!! Camping for 3 nights and pitches for tents were big. Loads of space for the kids to play including football nets in an adjacent field. Shower facilities basic but clean. Enjoyed a lovely evening meal on the final Night - the home cooked chips were amazing! Some Noise from the traffic on the road but this is no fault of the campsite itself and actually found it quite relaxing whilst drifting off to sleep! Quick drive to Alton Towers (approx 10 - 15 mins). On leaving no rush to leave the site and was advised by the owner to take our time. Overall really friendly, warm, welcoming site and the kids loved it so much we have booked already for next year!

On the A500 between Stoke & Uttoxeter looking for lunch we happened upon this pub, off the main road. Pleasant environment, plenty of parking, nice children’s play garden. Seems to be an independant? Brilliant ham, egg & chips; nice cajun chicken skewers off the specials board, plus a good Wadworth6X pint of well kept bitter. Ham was off a real homecooked ham (it hadn’t seen a packet! ) And was generously carved. Chips were skin on and again real, not frozen packet. Good simple food, well prepared with care. Very reasonable prices: for 2 people 1 course plus drinks and coffee, the right side of £35. I recommend!

We recently stayed at New Broom Camp Site for 2 nights whist visiting Alton Towers Resort for the weekend. On arrival we were greeted by the owner John who appeared slightly annoyed at our presence but shown us to our pitch which was about 10 steps away from the pub entrance and in the pub garden as the other 2 fields were full to capacity. While struggling to set up our tent in the dark John walked over and stood with his arms folded staring at us not offering to help in any way and then randomly walked off. We visited Alton Towers all day on the Saturday and when back to the camp site decided to go for a drink in the on site pub. Here, John told us which table to sit on- near the exit, seeming like he didn’t want us to stay. He aggressively told us to sit down quickly or go out and get our face masks on. He took our drinks order and when bringing them back over slammed them down on the table. We noticed another table had just ordered food and when asking John if we could have a menu he replied “no it’s finished now” then 20 minutes later he said we could have chips but that was it. We finished our drinks and left asking him if we could come for breakfast the next morning. He told us to come in after 9.30am as there was another group coming in before this. The next morning we went to have breakfast like agreed, John refused to make us breakfast unless it was 4 full fry ups and one of us only wanted beans on toast. He said it was that or nothing so we left and went elsewhere. John appeared rude, erratic and hostile and it didn’t feel like we were welcome there at all. We will not be revisiting.

We had a lovely countryside walk before dining in the pub. The meals were fab, reasonably priced and the safety was well thought out! Thank you!

We stayed for 2 nights in motorhome. We were made to feel so welcome, just down to earth, friendly family that run the pub/campsite. We ate in the pub and just really nice pleasant service and food. Its not a 5 star environment but everything you need - we'd definitely return.

Excellent carvery, and very good value for money. Lovely meat, lots of delicious sides to choose from and perfectly cooked vegetables. Staff were really friendly, and the owner came around to check everything was ok for everyone. We will definitely be returning!

Called as we were passing through the area and signage looked welcoming. Had a warm welcome and the landlord who pointed out that the place was undergoing some improvements following a change of management. The food was pretty much what you would expect at a country pub, no better no worse. Served nice and hot but lacking that really good score. Would go again if we were hungry and needed somewhere to eat. The new landlord seemed enthusiastic to make improvements so probably worth another visit in a month or so.

Went to the new Broom after seeing the reviews when we entered the pub met by the owner who asked " have you come for food"replied yes we booked. He informed us the food staff had not arrived. He came across not seeming to care he just sat down in a chair and began to watch the TV.Luckily we had a plan B so our night was not a right off which will be reviewed later tonight.

My steak was so soft that I didn’t need a steak knife. It was cooked to perfection and very tasty. The home made black pudding and potato hash cake starter was amazing, with an egg on top too. The steak was only £7.00 as it was grill night. Will definitely be going again.

Staff friendly. Service was fine. The reason i have given it four marks instead of five is we had the carvery and i had the beef which i found was a touch on the tough side. The rest of my family had the turkey which they said was excellent. All the rest of the carvery was fine. So be warned about the beef. We had deserts which were fine.

We really enjoyed our carvery and it is obvious that the new managers have seriously improved the establishment and are working very hard to build the pub back up again.

Went for a few drinks with friends and all I can say is that the owner has no customer service skills whatsoever- horrible people skills and frankly made me feel uncomfortable- if you’re looking for a nice place to visit with lovely staff members don’t go HERE, also the drinks are way overpriced absolutely ridiculous. Will not be returning to this place

We decided to pop into the New Broom again as we had been before but not for a while and we weren't disappointed! We managed get a table without booking as we arrived early so there was tables available and we were served straight away with our drinks. The food came fairly quickly, but not too quickly, and was fresh and hot and very tasty. We had starters of pate and prawn cocktail, which were good and for mains we had the battered fish and chips and the carvery gammon. The batter on the fish was fresh, thin and crispy and the gammon was a proper piece of meat! It was very reasonably priced and we will definitely go back again!

Greasy undercooked chips lasagna looked like it had been served on the plate with a dessert spoon and the amount of salad was overwhelming. Wrong larger brought to the table

Miserable rude staff, not enough staff about when you need them, little things felt like we were putting them out and average food at best. This place used to be fantastic !! I feel to charge the prices they do they need to seriously up their game!. More engaging friendly helpful staff needed !!!
