You would not think a restaurant could get a cream tea wrong but Sugar ‘N’ Spice did. First off the price of £7 for a scone & tea was probably one of the most expensive ones I’ve seen. The waitress wasn’t very friendly & made a big issue of charging 35p extra for Earl Grey tea. (the bill later was written out for 70p extra each). The current scone (didn’t get a choice of current or plain) came out slightly warm but doughy in the middle. Possibly caused by heating up in the microwave then just fell to pieces when cut & trying to put jam & cream on. The strawberry jam must have been the cheapest possible jam you could buy. The clotted cream came out in 2 opened individual Roddas clotted cream tubs such as you would find in a supermarket which was fine. However, they were half full & looked very much like the little plastic tubs had been reused, washed out badly because there was a dirty ridge line of old cream towards the top of the plastic pot & refilled. The only saving grace was the Earl Grey tea which was good & the extra 70p was deducted off the bill when questioned. Can’t say I would return or recommend visiting based on that visit.

Popped in here for some lunch while visiting Pershore. Greeted by a very friendly young lady who also took our order. All day breakfast and a panini. Both were cooked well but small portions for what they charge. The cafe is quite old and dated and could definitely do with a lot of tlc. When we went to pay, an older lady came over, took our ticket and keyed it in to the till. Said ‘card?’ Then held up the card machine. At no other point did she say a word. No ‘how was everything’ etc. & showed no interest in us being there. We felt like an inconvenience to her. Don’t know if she’s the owner but certainly no customer service awareness. Won’t be returning.

Have to say we had a good full breakfast but expensive. However the coffee cups are small and at over £3 per cup this not good value. There is plenty of competition in the High Street

Popped in for a quick lunch with a friend. Ordered one minestrone soup and one leek and potato soup with a sourdough roll and butter. These were offered as ‘soup of the day’ at £6.50 a go. I was a bit surprised when the so- called minestrone was set before me. It was a brown liquid with what looked like bits of rehydrated onion floating about in it. I queried this as I was expecting a bowl of real minestrone. The waitress argued with me and let slip that it had “ said on the box that it was minestrone”. I asked her to confirm what she said - that it was reconstituted powder and not made from fresh ingredients on the premises. My friend commented that her leek and potato soup had no recognisable taste - that was made from reconstituted powder as well. Then came all the excuses about the kitchen being very small and they could not make a pot of real soup. Also the bread rolls were not sourdough at all - just basic rolls that had been heated in a microwave - the characteristic rubbery texture was a giveaway there. We were very unhappy that this otherwise perfectly nice cafe on Pershore High Street would even think of offering such a miserable lunch on a cold winter day and having the cheek to charge such a high price.

A little sad and depressing on entry. We sat on the tired sofa with a low table. Cushions are all very flat. Behind us was a wall divder hiding something, but the cafe feels in need of love and attention. The menu is basic but I'm happy with that. All printed on paper on your table with specials too. It's not clear but table service is offered. Service was so slow I went to the kiosk and was promptly told to sit back down. Not only was the waiter service very slow, when the person took our order, which was coffee and a fryup x2, she never asked how we wanted our eggs cooked or whether we wanted a large coffee. She did offer a choice of bread. Filter coffee is £3.05 and cappuccino is about £3.25. Coffee is not great, very dull. And very small cups. The food arrived quickly and on large oval plates but all looked extremely sad. The beans were like sludge in a container, x2 sausages very dark, x2 crispy bacon, black pudding, one poached egg, a teaspoon of (boiled?) mushrooms and teaspoon of semi-cooked, oily potatoes and a slice of granary bread which had already been buttered (again, not offered unbuttered) The bacon, bread and black pudding were the only tasty things on the plate. The sausages were left because they were cheap, tasteless and overcooked. The mushrooms were soggy, the potatoes greasy, egg over cooked. All in all, for £10.50 you get a far nicer experience elsewhere I'm saddened to say. No waiter asked us if everything was ok, and I think I would have been honest had they have asked. I asked for brown sauce and it must have been the cheapest decanted bottle of sauce available from the wholesalers. It tasted as nasty as it looked. Think gloopy cinnamon. The ambience is sad, with very little on the shelves of this once thriving farm shop cafe, it makes me angry that I wasted nearly £30 and countless calories on this food. I wanted to love it, but I know so many better places to eat on Pershore high street with better quality coffee and food for the same price. Very disappointed.

Have used this cafe before for a coffee. In the past it was marginally ok but my friends liked to meet there so I went too. It’s definitely getting worse. Food poor quality and therefore overpriced for what you get. A toasted sandwich was £8.95 and essentially 2 beige slices of processed bread, a bit of bagged salad chucked on the side with sweaty tasteless bacon and Brie on the inside. Nothing like a nice crisp toastie should be. The outdoor seating area is tired and furniture in need of some tlc. The service wasn’t great, food slammed down and no glasses brought with the bottles of cold drinks. Overall there are far nicer places to eat and have a decent coffee in Pershore, so this has been my final visit to sugar and spice.

We arrived at 1.45 and tried to order the lunchtime special cottage pie - which had sold out. Asked for the "All Day Breakfast" and were told that "we're not doing that". Settled for a steak pie and a chile con carne. Steak pie contained only gravy and a few shreds of something - accompanied by a sad and wilted salad garnish. Chile dry and miniscule served on some dry reheated rice. That with a coffee and a cup of tea came to £21. Awful. Avoid.

I went here on a recent trip out and i felt sorry for the young lady cook. She was rushed off her feet, being spoken to like a piece of poo on a shoe, tutted at by the old hag in kitchen with her. I saw the said staff member in the street, and I was absolutely gobsmacked. Saving baked potatoes for days on end once cooked, cooking vegatarian breakfasts in the same pan as normal breakfasts, using carrots that have slime on them so as not to waste them, tipped customers unused milk into a jug and re using it. How is this place even open?? The toilet facilities are a disgrace and the young waitresses are always looking so sad as they get treated like a slave. The owner should be ashamed of herself. Trying to finish coffee and the snotty women out of the kitchen hoovering up to try and get rid of me! I wont be visiting this place again and i certainly wont reccomend it to others.

We went for a snack while on holiday, having read the reviews we thought it would be good? Sadly not on this occasion. The toasted Brie and bacon sandwich had hardly melted and toasted….debatable. The quiche my husband had was minuscule and warm not hot, the salad limp and a clump of carrot, in fact I would not call it a salad. We know there are better places than this cafe as this was truly not value for money.

Usually the food is good but my asparagus soup didn’t taste of asparagus and the bread was dry. Also a terrier which was not a guide / service dog was allowed in. It’s owner ordered a sausage for it and cut it up and put it on a plate on the floor for the dog to eat. I think this is unhygienic, the plate would then be washed with other crockery.

Looking for somewhere nice to have an afternoon snack while in Pershore my wife and I walked past the cake shop and saw that they were a café in the back - so in we went - and how pleased we were that we did!The welcome was very friendly, the tables were scattered round a series of clustered spaces which gave privacy if required, or being part of things if that is what one wanted. (My wife therefore bumped unexpectedly into a friend of hers!) What was truly surprising (and never come across before) was that tables were all named after individual local villages - a nice touch! Not an extensive menu - but met our needs (toasted sandwiches) with a very good cup of fresh coffee and then came a selection of delicious home-made cakes which certainly tempted us!The serving lady was utterly friendly (as was the lady in charge this afternoon) and that really makes a huge difference. So - thoroughly recommended and well worth walking down the main street for and even better, close to Pershore`s wonderful collection of small retailers. Neither the town, the shops nor `Sugar N`Spice` to be ignored!Malcolm

If you're going to offer Welsh Rarebit on the specials menu, then you need to learn how to make it. It's not grated cheese mixed with a bit of mustard and Worcestershire and bunged under the grill, it's an actual cheese sauce. I love Welsh rarebit, and this was by far the worst I've ever had. In fact, it was an insult to call it Welsh Rarebit. Lots of recipes on the inter-web for it - just saying... The accompanying salad was very basic, but at least it was good and fresh. At just shy of £7 it was very poor value for money. Have no intention of wasting my money there again.

We have used this cafe for about 20 years and in that time have seen changes, some good, some bad.We always tried to have what we called "school dinners".Alas these were taken off the new streamlined menu. There are a couple of specials on offer along with the usual items available at any high street cafe.On our last visit I had a ham salad which thankfully had proper lettuce and not the dreaded mixed leaves,it was tasty and of a good size.Wifey had cottage pie which she said was very enjoyable.Their seems to be less staff than in the past and the prices have risen quite a bit but I suppose that's the way of things nowadays. This used to be the place to go for a good lunch at reasonable prices with excellent service thrown in but sadly it does not now stand out as it used to.The menus were a bit tatty as they were only a piece of printed paper that had seen better days.Penny pinching does not really do anything for this cafe.

We’d looked on Trip Advisor for somewhere suitable and had chosen the Pershore Deli but when we rocked-up on the day it was closed. Let’s say the weather was on the fresh side and we quickly tired of looking for somewhere else to get food and chose here, thankfully! Warm welcome and table service, not something that is altogether normal nowadays in some establishments, but it was here. Teas and coffees arrived at the table fairly quickly which was a pleasant surprise as it was clearly very busy. Our friends wanted a snack type lunch and I wanted something a little more substantial, so whilst they chose Welsh Rarebit and poached egg and I chose the Steak and Ale pie from the menu board which really did have some decent chunks of meat inside. I thought this sounded nice so we went in and both had a jacket potato...the other being with baked beans. All was fine until given the bill when we discovered the £4.10 was the takeaway price. The charge for the chilli and cheese potato to eat-in was £7.25. It hadn't been on the menu and other two-filling potatoes were £5.25. On querying this with the waitress and cashier both commented that the manager had said they must charge this so there was no leeway for any misunderstanding. Found it by coincident and went there to get some cream tea and sandwiches. It was not easy to get a table, we had to wait a bit. Our 2 year old loved the fact that there are toys to play with. The food was very good and fresh. The atmosphere was.. well.. it is not the typical coffeeshop chain style we all got so used to. But that's what we liked so much about this place. The service was quick and friendly. When in Pershore, have your break there!

Stopped for a light lunch,I chose the cheese leek and potato bake, after two mouthfuls I decided not to carry on it was not palatable tasted old reheated and not nice.i went and got a buttered scone to eat. Waitress came and took my plate away while husband was still eating his cottage pie. Didn't even ask why a complete plateful remained uneaten,I did say perhaps my husband may like to try it but he refused so it was returned to the kitchen .Afterwards my husbands comments about his meal was overcooked cabbage and poor quality mince. My scone was tasty but the butter portion meagre .

On reading some negative reviews I was a bit apprehensive BUT GLAD TO HAVE TRIED IT FOR MYSELF The service was good The coffee and muffins were a responsible price and my mother in a wheelchair did not find any issues to prevent her enjoying her visit The rear of the restaurant is bright and the staff very helpful

Stopped here for coffee and hadto try the delicious cakes. Placed our order at the counter and were lucky enough to be able to sit out in the sunny garden. Cakes were delicious and well priced. Coffee hot. On the way out we browsed the gift shop section and I came home having purchased two Christmas presents to tick off on my list!

We arrived on a Monday just after 12. We had to go looking twice for someone to serve us. Once we were served things improved. The waitress was cheerful and helpful, and our drinks came really quickly. The meals also arrived promptly and were good value for money. Piping hot, fresh, tasty. We didn't try the loos do no info there. The place seemed tired, a bit shabby, but was full so obviously popular. There's a good choice of seating. Plus tables in the garden too. The service needs to be prompter to get a better score, and the food just a tad more interesting (more varied salad, an offer of salad dressing for example). But I'd go again. For what it is, it's good!

In my last review in October 2016 I stated that the meals were reasonably priced. Since my recent visit my opinion changed after ordering the Caesar Salad at £7.50pOk, all the ingredients were there- but the bowl contained mostly lettuce, with a few parmesan shavings, some bacon pieces, and shredded chicken etc.My wifes Jacket potato was Ok, but the "Dolls House sized tea pot for two" was ridiculous, even with the tiny pot of hot water.supplied we hardly had enough tea to wash down our meal. I also had Lemon meringue tart with a small scoop of ice-cream.this was enjoyable. Service was prompt, but then, at 2.30pm midweek when you would have expected them to be busy, the place was virtually empty My total bill came to £19.20, this may have some significance. Overpriced for what we had.

Went last saturday morning for breakfast and sat in the lovely sunny tidy garden with our dog.Was approached straight away by a profesional young chap who handed out menus and took drink orders. The breakfast included all the usual items plus black pudding and the most massive slice of crusty toast you have seen. All cooked to perfection and a great start to the weekend, thankyou.

Food was very average. The highchairs were were dirty and so so was the seating. We sat at the table with previous people plates and cups the whole time. Cheese didn't taste great my daughter who loves cheese refused to eat. On the up side having toys for litte ones to play with was great.

Admittedly I called in to Sugar n Spice on a busy Saturday morning but the service left a lot to be desired. People around me said a waitress would come to me but no one did. I had to go and ask to be served and even then had to wait quite a time. The scone eventually arrived but no coffee. I had to go and ask for it and had almost finished the scone before the coffee arrived. Three people ho shared my table got the same treatment. A pity because the coffee and scone were excellent once they arrived!!!

Was very crowded had to sit at table covered in dirty crockery which was cleared quiet quickly. Would have liked table to be cleaned though. Had cream tea each. Disappointed only one pot tea between 2. Cups were on table already (not very clean). Scone was good and homemade. Came with choice of mini jam pot and pot clotted cream. Lady serving was rushing around constantly feel she needed more help. Strange idea to pay at deli counter q on the way out.

We stopped here for two very average cups of coffee, a slightly underflavoured rock cake and a slightly burned tea cake. It wasn't awful but much like a Vauxhall Astra it was so ordinary and underwhelming that I am struggling to add much more.

Stopped in Pershore on our way to the Cotswolds and wanted a mid morning coffee. Liked the look of Sugar and Spice and went in. You have to walk through a very small gift area before reaching the café and I bought some birthday cards on the way out.Very friendly staff and we sat on one of the comfortable settees. We had coffee and toasted tea cakes which were very nice and promptly served. Nice place for morning coffee.

Just needed a coffee on a bright, bitterly cold February day. I asked in Asda if they had a coffee area but 'no' so the assistant recommended Sugar 'n' Spice telling us it was a bakery in the front but just go down to the rear of the premises.Happy cheerful staff, good menu for light meals, decent size tables that didn't wobble. It was a coffee stop but would use it again when and if we are in Pershore again.

Had breakfast here whilst staying locally. Cafe and staff lovely but Full English breakfast was nothing special most of it pre cooked and kept in food warmer only the fried egg and black pudding where cooked fresh and I really did not like the black pudding but that is just down to personal taste

Just had amazing Sunday lunch. Home made steak pie was awesome, sausages really tasty, buttery mash and beautifully cooked veg. To top it off rich luxurious gravy, my husband would give 5 stars for that alone! Staff really lovely too. Well worth a visit but I would book as this menu is going to take off!!!

Excellent food and excellent service , Ales brewed on site , could not fault it in any way . A querky venue tastefully converted from an old railway station.
