4 of us have just been in for a carvery. The meats where all dry as a bone, they had been sitting there all day, we arrived at 5.30 expecting freshly cooked food. Total disgrace and i would highly recommend that you DONT go there for a carvery. Roast potatoes where raw in the middle and black on the outside. Carrots where rock hard, beef was un edible, gammon was burnt,Yorkshire pudding dissintergrated into dust, mash potatoe had a hard skin over the top !! We all ended up getting a refund and they took the carvery off as we where leaving. Also the chef has a large beard but doesn't wear a net over his beard. Very disappointed!!

Very very average food. Cauliflower cheese was awful, very stalky, some kind of herb in the carrots. Meat portions very measly, watery gravy, minted peas???? Do not go with any of the meats on offer. Roast potatoes tasted like chunks of chips. Just very bland and wishy washy. Won’t be visiting again. Stopped on the off chance as we were away from home for the day.

We have visited this pub many times and have always had lovely food. The steak with salad is lush and the curry's and mixed grill are always top notch. Was slightly disappointed with the sunday carvery veg it was only peas and cauliflower cheese...no carrot, parsnips, brocolli, cabbage or any veg just the two. .however the turkey was lovely...as was the roast potatoes and gravy

Ordered chicken tikka massala and it came out that runny you would have thought it was soup and needed a straw. When returned to the chefs the waitress said there reply was, i don't know why it looked like that. Why send it out, not even offered any money back

We had visited in 2023 and had a very good meal so decided to call again, with our grandchildren (9 and 6 years old), for a meal. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. The four meals were all very tasty (3 carveries and 1 burger) and the puddings were amazing - delicious and such good value for money. The children liked the activity sheets. We look forward to visiting again sometime in the future. Thank you.

Me and my partner stopped off for lunch at the norton grange for a carvery .seemed a lovely place orderd drinks and 2 carvery meals .went to get out lunch there was no turkey only a small amount of beef and gammon left i dont like gammon so had beef then no roast potatoes or stuffing .the cheif said he would bring it out to us ,was never bought out .another couple on next table told waitress when asked if everything was ok with their meal .they complained no turkey no stuffing no roast potatoes they was offerd a free dessert. When we had finished our meal waitress asked how our meal was i dont like to complain but i told her what the other couple did no turkey no stuffng no roast potatoes she said i.ll check took plates never came back was.nt offerd a free pudding we just got up and left we came all the way from west bromwich for a lovely meal how dissapointing it was. We wont go there again

We went to the carvery counter at 12:10pm (40 minutes after opening). There was only one other couple in the restaurant at the time. When we arrived at counter we were very surprised to see the meat which was very dry and, in my opinion, was left overs from the day before. The beef was 2 inches left at the of the joint, the turkey not much more and the gammon was so dry it was turning brown! The server attempted to cut the beef and it was painful to watch. It was impossible for him to cut a slice because it was too small and also he was trying to cut it so thin. He even commented "oh dear it is just breaking up". The turkey was very similar. What we ended up with was shavings which were very dry and inedible. Indeed my husband was just given the end of the beef joint as it was impossible for the server to carve and it was all fat and he left on the plate. We did point out to the server that it was not good but he continued to give us what was there. The stuffing was a few crumbs in the bowl which were very dry and served to us by the carver and also inedible. The majority of the veg was luke warm and the roast potatoes looked like they had been there a while. We did complain on the day and just told "oh sorry". We have regularly visited this restaurant in the past but was very disappointed in their response when we highlighted the issues. Overall an awful experience

She is a credit to this pub and it is probably a reflection on her that her staff are also polite, friendly and professional. A great team and thanks again Sarah.

We went yesterday. 30 minute wait for food to come which we were fine with. Bought both meals 45 mins later mine not done correctly so had it taken back. 30 minutes later my friend had finished and my remake was bought out. My burger was hard and inedible and my fries were cold and no bacon so asked for a refund. Refund was given after 10 mins and a lot of back and forth because they couldnt find the manager (we had seen the manager come in and sit at the back with an indian take away 20 mins prior). Honestly dissapointingly slow and poor quality. Staff seem to have no idea what they are doing. Seems more like a staff hang out spot than a resturant. Shame to see it go downhill as used to be beautiful.

Worst carvery we have ever had. Most of it was inedible. Gravy was cold, so asked for new gravy. They bought out the same gravy, still cold. Yorkshire pudding was crispy and crumbly like ash, roast potatoes were rubbery, stuffing was like a rock. Meat was half decent. Service was slow and shocking, quite rude. Wish we had read the reviews before we visited and wasted money here.

Awful food, horrendous service. Wasn't even busy. Carvery was really poor and the server didn't seem to know carve meat. My 81 year mother burned her hand on a serving spoon because the carvery heat lamps were too high, hence dried out veg.. The manger will respond post, however they cannot justify the level or quality of food or service they advertise.

Absolutely awful from start to finish.... made to feel unwelcome, a nuisance for complaining about our food , service and poor quality of food..... the staff are very poorly trained and have no idea of proper customer service or care. We went for a birthday celebration today, we have used the pub on many occasions previously for family get together and today was my daughter in laws birthday, there were 11 of us, we asked to be sat outside as it was a nice day.... we had booked.... this was an issue. There was no organisation of staff, their manners were appalling, our parry were greeted by the chef at the carvery saying "what?".... We complained that our food didn't come together, there was an hour between the 1st dish coming out and the last one being served..... the food was very poor quality, the steak was inedible, the burgers were pink, veg was over cooked and cold, the salad garnish was limp.... We tried approaching the "duty" manager Milly to complain, she was not interested, didn't know how to handle the complaint and was clearly well out of her depth as a "manager.", no genuine interest or apology or anything of a resolution was offered, we suggested a couple of complementary desserts would be welcome.., but she said she didnt know anything about our complaint and staff had not said anything.. despite us having spoken to atleast 4 different staff members, Lucky We did manage to get some of the food refunded by another member of staff... the staff were just following each other around like sheep.... didn't appear to know what they should be doing, it's clearly very poorly run and the actual main manager was no where to be seen....even though I asked totally oblivious to anything going on in their pub. We were not the only ones complaining... there must have been 10 other customers complaining about the food, staff, service....lack of it, poor quality and value for money. ... that must tell you something, and I am sure the amount of refunds will be a clue too!! It was a shame to be honest we have been on previous occasions and it's always been fine.

We had a very poor experience. The service at the bar was very slow, and there were no soft drinks available on tap. We were charged an extortionate amount for two cans of lukewarm Pepsi. It got worse from there. Two of us ordered a carvery and the others ordered from the main menu. Despite being told that the staff would let us know when to go up to the carvery, this didn't happen and then this meant that half of the table had finished their meals while the others still queued up for the extremely slow carvery. The carvery meals were very poor quality- it was disappointing. When we asked who was in charge, the staff member didn't know who the manager was! Instead, a young man called Amari came to our table and offered a refund. My husband went with him to the bar, only for Amari to change his mind about refunding the two meals. Instead, he refunded only one meal even though it was clear that very little food had been eaten. We subsequently found from another member of staff that Amari was not the manager- he was the son of the owner of the pub and didn't seem to know what he was doing. This explained why the service, food quality and overall experience was so poor. We now have to email Marstons and complain. We will not be going back.

Poor staff attitude. A certain staff member decided to argue over the other side of the bar whilst serving another customer that the lasanage does include garlic bread but as I had paid a £3 charge to add chips it meant garlic bread would no longer be included, however the menu does not state this. The attitude of the member of staff was appalling he must of stood there and argued with me telling me I was wrong and he was write for over 5 minutes. Will not be returning again, expensive and dead and definitely not worth the money!

Live review at 19.25pm 2/8/24 Booked a table for 7 adults & 3 children to celebrate my 36th wedding anniversary. The staff were really polite & courteous. I asked if the bacon was smoked & was told yes so decided on another meal to be told they could supply un-smoked. After placing the order the server informed me that there would be an extra charge for the un-smoked when questioned they would not back down so order changed & £0.40 refunded. To top that 1 of our party ordered the lasagne (that came with garlic bread) she ordered chips at an extra charge of £3. When the meal came there was no garlic bread. When asked was told if you had chips you didn't get the garlic bread? After arguing they finally agreed. The manager needs to have a bit more about him £140 spent .....will not be returning

My friend and myself meet at Norton every month for a catch up. In previous months things had gone down hill a bit under the previous manager. However things are changing! We met last night and had a lovely meal. Some of the staff are being trained which is fine ( we all have to learn) and the manager is lovely. A great evening. Give it a try.

We won’t be returning. We went for our daughter’s 17th birthday 01/07/24. We ordered 4 chicken burgers, one without bbq sauce as my daughter is allergic to something in the sauce. They arrived all with bbq sauce. It was taken back to the kitchen. A “new” one came out but as my daughter began to eat she could smell the bbq sauce. What the chef had done was scraped the bbq sauce off and turned the burger over and replaced the top of the bun. When I complained the front of house staff said the chef had made a mistake, which is a lie as how can you make the mistake of turning the burger over to cover up the sauce. Thankfully my daughter didn’t bite the burger and if she had she does carry her epiPen but when you make an order saying you don’t want something because of an allergy and they do that, they put my daughters life at risk. They offered her a dessert as an apology and when we said no bring the bill they knocked 20% off but expect us to pay for the meal that couldn’t of been eaten as it could of killed her. After a further complaint they removed the meal and gave us 20% of the remaining cost. My daughters birthday meal was ruined and we had to go home and cook her a dinner.

As it was our anniversary, we decided that for our meal out we’d just do the local pub grub rather than one of the other more dedicated restaurants locally. Huge mistake! Firstly, they did not have Port and the young lady behind the bar had never heard of it. These things happen and we ordered other drinks. We ordered the buttermilk chicken starters, one with the standard bbq sauce but the other with salsa on the side. They both turned up with salsa on the side. Oh well, we just got on with it. My husband then ordered the mixed grill with the steak to be cooked medium rare and I ordered the rump steak to be cooked just medium and no mushrooms. After an extremely long wait the food finally arrived, totally unseasoned, completely overcooked with peas that looked like they were left over from yesterday. My steak was inedible, I tried various different parts in an effort to find a piece that wasn’t well done, burnt or full of gristle but was unsuccessful. My husband’s steak was also well done and gristly but he tried to eat the edible portions of the other meal components but these were few and far between. For the first time ever, we walked out and left the meals there. I spoke to one of the staff as we left, informing her of the inedible food and she asked if we would like it re-done. Having experienced the previous effort, we declined and left. We will not be returning nor recommending to friends and neighbours.

I've been here a few times but never again . The menu has changed and there were 2 vegetarian choices, a chilli or a burger. Gone are the pies and quiches. I don't like spicy food so it had to be the burger, this was spicy despite me checking beforehand. The disabled toilet wouldn't flush and the light was not working. I had to go in with my wife so I could use my phone as a torch. The place was empty, only 1 other table occupied and our 3 meals took almost an hour to arrive. Absolutely dreadful

Over charged twice now on two visits. I read what was on the screen and when checking bank I was charged £4 more and previous time £6 more. The bar staff seem to have no clue and zero social skills. On first visit i ordered a steak that was over cooked and dry and wasnt even given a steak knife. Gave it 2 chances as the owner seemed lovely when first visited but some of the staff have let it down, im very local so gutted but feel more used as a customer.

SLOW. Popped in for a local ‘quick’ tea tonight and waited half an hour once seated before being able to order our first drink. Had to ask if we put our order in at the bar twice before actually having a server come over to take our food & drink order. Once someone did eventually come over to take the order it then got lost and was not ever put through to the kitchen/ till as advised by another member of staff who came to take our order 10 mins after the last person. Lots of staff around not doing a lot. Not overly busy with customers at the time either. Was much more efficient when you could order and pay at the bar. Food is decent though once you manage to get it to the table. EDIT- just wanted to clarify that we only moved one table over to the left (not to another section) as the one we were originally seated on was really wobbly and warm from being in front of the window. We moved tables after 25 mins of being seated and seemingly forgotten about. We would have asked to move if anyone would have come over to our table to take the order. Would also like to add that the lady who did look after us after this point was very polite and friendly. Shame about the service leading up to this point from the others.

As new residents of Norton we were excited to eat out for a change at our only local pub. We arrived at 630 with a guest and our toddler and ordered shortly thereafter. Well over an hour and several visits to the counter to ask where our food was we had no dinner and a very grumpy toddler. The icing on the cake was seeing several other tables getting their food before us despite arriving 20 minutes at least after us. Due to a hungry screaming toddler I had to request our food be boxed up so we could get our child home, I waited a further 10 minutes for our food to be boxed up. On getting home the food was nice though some things were cold, some piping hot as all the elements of the meals had been cooked at different times (we literally live 1 minute drive away so that was not a factor on the temp). Just as a recap, on my first approach to the counter after nearly an hour, I requested that the toddlers food be brought out so we could feed him, his dinner was just grated cheese melted on tortilla chips and vegetable sticks, very quick to prepare with almost no cooking required. Not only was this simple request ignored but the very young staff offered no apologies or reasonable explanations other than "it'll be a few more minutes" which it was not. One woman offered us a rushed and insincere apology as were handed our boxed meals. Very bad service, very bad handling of what may have been an honest mistake, no offer of even a drink or a discount for the inconvenience and fact we weren't even eating there. 1 star, extremely unlikely to ever return despite it being our only local pub and eatery.

Gone down hill significantly, came in for lunch yesterday arrived around half 12 , lunch took an hour to arrive after ordering , when it came it was all cold and the beans looked liked they'd been sitting for ages the waiter forget the extra bread for the soup went off to get it and brought it back 15 minutes later when the soup was tinished . Stated to the waiter that all the food was Cold and he said he would pass it on to the chef for next time no offer of help or anything

Painfully slow service. It took over an hour for 2 baguettes, a child's meal and a jacket potato to appear... the table next to us waited 30 minutes for their drinks. All servers were evidently very young and relatively inexperienced, which isn't their fault; to their credit they were polite and apologetic. The management may need to actually manage, train and support their staff in order to retain some customers

The previous visit we found the venue very nice, this time we spotted changes! Finding out the it was under new management, all of them we felt to be a great improvement and enjoyed our meal and experience. Perfect service, the carvery was honestly the best we've ever eaten, everything about it was impeccable, huge compliments to Dan the chef and also to Benji for his amazing hospitality. We will be regulars here every Sunday for dinner. Well done to all the team at The Norton for turning this place around.

Absolutely shocking carvary roast potatoes tasted like thay was reheated most of the carvary was Luke warm gravy was very watery if we come again won't be having the carvary. Another shocking carvary though it might have improved being new management date visited 17/03/24 08/10/23

We came here because we use to come here regularly but we moved away so it was lovely to re visit. Our waiter Benjamin I think that’s his name lovely young guy very pleasant helpful and friendly food was good as always we had the carvery the chef was lovely too. Thank you we shall look forward to another visit in the near future.

Usually been good but group of 6 and not 1 was that good. Arrived on time had to search for any staff to ask about our table. Only saw 2 other tables but still took over 40 minutes for meals when they arrived they looked like they'd been left under heat for way too long. Gravy was nearly set. Sons burger bun was crunchy. Pastry rock hard on my pie. Hunters chicken was dry with splash of bbq sauce and drizzle of cheese. Finally how hard is it to get scampi wrong but they succeeded. They even forgot garlic bread. Couldn't really wait to get out. Waitress was very good 👍 but rest wasnt

Terrible experience staff rude blamed customer for fault that was staffs fault due to pure negligence and not listening, when rang and spoke to a manager was not very help full basically said the slip said we didn't make them aware of allergies and asked for it to be on the side when in the fact was requested for no sauce or cheese due to allergies, then when asked for it to be returned they took it scrapped sauce off and handed it back saying it was fresh which ate part of it before realising that the food had been scrapped and turned over ate part of this, however resulted in being very poorly and spending the whole of my evening being sick and in excruciating pain which lasted several hours. Manager didn't seem to concerned regarding the issue that had happened and just said the her staff had followed the protocols and had written down for it to be put on the side, when was requested not to be there are all. Once the food had returned for the second time to be made fresh the staff then avoided the table we wasn't asked if the rest of our meal was ok we wasn't offered to look at desert menus had to wait over 30 minutes for the bill as no one came to/near the table. When someone did attend the table to collect our plates and ask if we was finished we was still currently eating how ever after being asked if we had finished whilst still eating this put us off the rest of our meal because felt like it was being rushed to get the plates back. After being there before and being happy with the service and everything this visit has had a negative impact on our views and opinions and unfortunately will not be returning. I have uploaded photos to go with the review this is after it had been returned and was told was fresh can clearly see the sauce still on there.

I went here with my husband and mother in law today for Mother’s Day it was very busy when we got in but we booked a table so we were seated quickly. Our meal took a while to come out but we put it down to it being a busy day. Our service wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t great but we did witness an awful experience. We noticed three ladies at the bar who were visibly upset. From what we could gather things were missed from their order without any explanation or solution provided. The staff were visibly rude and defiant to the two women and then they were even made to pay after everything they experienced!! This type of attitude towards people on Mother’s Day of all days is completely unacceptable and because of this we will never return!! I hope those ladies get compensated for their awful experience. Edit: regarding the reply this establishment gave me from what I witnessed no staff members were sworn at you had two very upset parties which your staff were trying to intimidate.

Really nice food, but a little expensive. Had a 30% off voucher but it did not state that it was off mains only. Thinking that it was off all food and there were 4 people we all had 3 courses. Really shocked to be told when we got the bill about only off mains only. If we had known we wouldn't have had all 3 courses.

after waiting over an hour for our mains to come, I requested the bill as we hadn’t received our food still. They stated we had to have our food to ‘take away’ and refused to take the food off the bill as it had been made, just not served to us. So ‘not their fault’. We took the food away, £40 for 2 cold burnt burgers. Newly local to the area, awful visit. ** editing after your response which is COMPLETELY inaccurate, no one checked up on us at all, we didn’t wait 40 mins at all! 😅 and the burgers were vile. You should take ownership & apologise not respond with inaccurate facts in future...

We went here on Saturday 24/1/24 after been told by quite a few friends how nice the food was and with it not been so far for us from our village. Anyway we had 2 starters which were very nice could not fault really. I ordered hunters chicken and my husband had a southern fried chicken burger. I have had numerous hunters chicken before but never like this. The chicken breast was cooked lovely but there was no barbecue sauce at all on the chicken, the bacon was sat on top of the chicken and there was no cheese. Upon speaking to a member of staff I asked where is the cheese, she pointed to my plate and said I can see cheese, but if you want some more I can get you some. My point is there was definitely no barbecue sauce or cheese. As a paying customer I would have expected a better response.

Had lunch here for the first time ever 23.1.24. It was pretty quiet but we chose a table & ordered our food with no issues. We both had a baguette with salad instead of chips. It was delicious!! The baguette wasn't hard & crusty and not too bready. Just the correct amount of filling (I had Hunters Chicken, so chicken, bacon, cheese & BBQ sauce) the ratios were perfect and the side salad was simple & fresh. The food was sensibly priced and the atmosphere was quiet but pleasant - we stayed nearly 4 hours!! Free car parking. Will definitely be returning and strongly recommend.

Highly disappointed by the pub this year, have been coming since 2021 for boxing day dinner with my father in law, they orgot my sons food orde and left him waiting whilst o7r was there on table yet we didnt eat because unfair on my son, completely missed off our extra sides, over 2hrs in the pub and still hadn't had dessert from our 3 course meal, we ordered set meals and was told was carvery help yourself vegs despite ordering same meal as previous year which was plated and brought to you, not value for money atoll
