A lovely authentic vernacular building. Pete was exceptionally hospitable and friendly, making our visit on a damp Sunday evening very enjoyable. He put himself out to provide us with food even though kitchens were shut. Pub recommended by Adam who was the owner of Tower View Farm campsite, which is a 40 minute walk to the pub, but very welcome to walk through the pretty village after a day's travelling.

We booked here for overnight stay as we had a wine & cheese tasting in Blackminster. Arriving early we were lucky to see Peter, the chef/manager who let us in our room. It was fine, clean & airy (no 2) but does need a bit of tlc. There was no soap/shower gel and we would have mentioned it but as luck would have it, we had brought some. Breakfast was agreed to a suitable time for us which was plentiful and tasty. Lots of tea, coffee and fresh orange juice. The evening meal was just delightful! Even though they had 2 larger parties and busy, we didn’t have to wait long. The waitress who was so attentive despite being busy was excellent! The food was utterly delicious & of a very high quality which we hadn’t expected. Peter’s skills in the kitchen are top notch. We shared the baba ganoush starter which was so filling. I had the duck breast, Pak Choi and creamy tasty rice and husband had the hake & chips - batter to die for! Drinks & food were superb and very reasonable especially for the quality. Special thanks to Peter, the female waitress and the young man behind the bar who was very amenable, and helpful in calling a taxi for us. Whether you just want a drink, meal or overnight stay you will not be disappointed.

What a hidden gem! I have to say i was so impressed with the menu choices for such a small village pub. I had a parsnip and prawn soup served with poppadom's, partner had creamy garlic mushrooms. We then both had the pork belly mains and i have to say we were STUFFED! Beautifully cooked everything. Each dish was well presented and very reasonably priced. We had been recommended otherwise unlikely to had been somewhere we would've driven by! Made the booking on the night, the Thursday. It was lovely! Very quiet restaurant which was a shame considering how gorgeous the meal was! Just ourselves and another two ladies. We already can not wait to come back and very fortunate that this is only merely minutes from our doorstep! Credit to the chef and the young lady behind the bar. Look forward to returning! Best wishes, Katie & Ben

Booked 3 rooms and all were disgusting. The room we stayed in had several carpet stains, you could feel each spring in the mattresses, the electric wall mounted radiator reeked of dust when switched on and don’t go near the bathroom. Re the bathroom the black mould on the grouting sea extensive and the shower curtain was truly mouldy and disgusting. We didn’t stay for breakfast based simply upon the cleanliness of our rooms. £65 per room was a joke and we departed as soon as we could.

Staff were friendly, accomodation truly awful. Where to start? Entering the room was met with a nasty smell of damp. Tried to open window which apparently can't open due to fire regulations (however other rooms have opening windows), Turned on wall heater to aleviate damp smell, damp smell was replaced with very nasty smell of burning dust. Smell of damp was so overpowering had to sleep with room door open to outside. Carpets are crime scene level filthy. Bathrooms are tired and mouldy with rusty and broken fittings with no soap provided. Beds were clean enough but horendously uncomfortable, matress's need replacing as could feel every spring (consideration was given to sleeping in car). Tea and coffee facilities provided but kettle is filthy. Could not wait for the morning, sat in beer garden from dawn as was preferable to staying in room.

We stopped at The Wheatsheaf Inn as a van stopover on a trip back north from the South West. We had a fabulous meal in the restaurant. Even though Badsey is about as far from the sea as you can get the fish was beautifully fresh and well cooked. As entrees some sautéed peppers and home made sausage rolls were provided. I had the Hake & chips which I have to say was one the best fish and chips I have ever had !! My wife had the gnocchi which was equally excellent. On top of this the staff and locals in the pub were very friendly and welcoming. Peter Zella is the chef and he has created an excellent menu and restaurant and all at reasonable prices. We’ll be back on another trip.

Went for a family meal and the food was absolutely incredible. There were 11 of us and all had 3 courses and was all brought out very efficiently and at same time. However..... My issue is myself and my partner had a room overnight and the key was bent (we were told on arrival) but we struggled for 5 mins to get out of room in morning and I feel this is a huge health and safety issue if there had been a fire we simply couldn't of got out! Plus only 1 cup provided and the kettle kept sparking and seen better days also when getting in to bed there was what appeared to be blood on bedsheets so removed before getting in. There was no handsoap provided in bathroom which I think should be.

Very disappointing The restaurant itself was almost empty when we arrived and lacked atmosphere. There was a lot of laughter/noise coming from the kitchen though. Heard the food here was very good but that was not my experience! I had the duck ragu, which lacked in flavour a little and appeared to be served with egg noodles instead of spaghetti as advertised. Very very strange. The portion was large. The garlic bread accompaniment was crispy and tasty though. My partner had a rump steak which had been cooked to perfection. It came with a red wine jus and creamy mash. He enjoyed it a lot. My dessert was so disappointing, I ordered the apple strudel but what I got looked liked it came from a school cafeteria! The pastry was bland, wet and stodgy. It had been microwaved. Confectioners dust heaped unappealingly on top. It was honestly disgusting. Service was friendly and pleasant. Would go back but only for drinks

Starting with the Good. The staff were amazingly friendly, and obliging. Peter the chef did a great spread, and an excellent breakfast. The pub itself is nice and welcoming. Di, the lady who does everything, was so nice and friendly, couldn’t do enough. Well done you two! Nice pub, friendly staff and clientele in a good location. The Bad. The room… well, if you like your bathroom mouldy, and the shower curtain green and slimy, the floor not very nice, the radiator rusty and no soap for hand washing etc. this is the place for you… towels nice and white though! The downright ugly. The room carpet, what more can I say than rip it up, cleaning won’t fix it!!! Disgusting, stained all over and smelled. Not the sort of thing you’d put your feet on! The bedding, the overthrow, which thankfully we took off was very stained. The room needed painting, and plaster coming off the walls. In a nutshell, a COMPLETE refurb is desperately required before this room is let out for overnighters again.

Just had dinner here. Took advantage of the £13.95 tapas offer thinking it was great value. Service was swift and I was soon faced with bowls of piping hot food. However, the patas bravas were clearly last Sunday’s left over boiled new potatoes, quartered and reheated in tinned tomatoes with a bit of sour cream on the top. The chicken in chorizo (3 small pieces of each) were basking in the same tomato goo but diluted with tinned butter beans! (Who buys those anymore - and what is “tapas” about that? The crispy bread was exactly what it says it was and the romesco sauce was excellent - clearly bought in. After informing a rather uninterested server that my prawns were not good, he immediately deflected me to the chef. A chap of Eastern European extraction, I think, came up to me, offered no apologies and went on to explain that he prawns were like that when he bought them. Just under £20, including a rather excellent pint of beer, I am bemused that these places can get it so wrong!

As a background, just got back from Menorca-chronic lack of olives and some very indifferent food. Wednesday saw a tapas board with ribs, papas bravas, calamari, olives, chorizo, dipping oil and home made breaed. The potatoes were particularly good and the ribs really tender and melting but my favourite was the olives and bread- the crust was snap tasty and the bread soft and absorbant for all the lovely oils and sauces.

We stumbled apon this place whilst staying in Badsey for the Cheltenham Festival. Having experienced the Festival for several years and become disenchanted with the pubs and restaurants in the immediate area whose prices and standards are infamous for being scandalously overpriced we arrived here not expecting anything different BUT.... At first we thought it must be 'to good to be true' - the menu was very reasonably priced and looked promising and when the food arrived we were amazed at how terrific the quality and presentation of the food was - if those poor ripped off race-goers just down the road new about this place it would be absolutely packed but thankfully it seems to be a rather special secret! The chef lovingly creates his dishes and is anxious to please - the puddings are individual and have a humorous touch - try the Dish that includes Artic Roll - a sophisticated and delicious twist on the one we remember from childhood! The place is friendly and unpretentious and this belies the skills of the talented chef - we ate there every evening - hopefully it will not be fully booked next year so please don't tell everyone!

Large group of us went for a family meal yesterday evening. Food was amazing, the best meal we have eaten in a pub for a very long time. What a refreshing change to "deep fried and microwave" pub meals that you get in most places. Will definitely visit again.

Whilst staying in the village for a few days we decided to walk down road to the pub to see what food they could do. Wednesday evenings they are currently offering International themed meals, and tonight it was Italian, the staff were very welcoming so we decided to give it a go. We had a really nice meal: minestrone soup, chicken cacciatore, and a slice of chocolate and chestnut gateau (most beautifully presented) with ice cream, and to finish, a glass of Bellini. And the cost? £10.95 per head...... Lovely warm atmosphere, friendly staff, and a very tasty meal...... what more could we want?Last Wednesday the theme was Indian - next week it's Greek, but apart from the special themed meal a full menu is also available.

Went for a family lunch (carvery)as we are local and we were all disappointed with the quality of food and very basic selection. Just our opinion, can't please everyone.

I am planning to stay here. However, I would like to review Premier Inn Evesham but Tripadvisor won't let me, wants me to review this one before I even get there. Well, telephone call to book it was quite pleasant.

This was a superb lunch celebrating my wife's birthday. There was a wide menu and we chose the two course Christmas selection. The presentation would have pleased Marcus Waring, and the standard of cooking would have pleased anyone. The four of us could not speak highly enough of the chef's skill, and a better lunch anywhere we could not recall. Highly recommend a visit. - we shall certainly return.

Good value local hostelry, good range of beers, good food. Carvery is good on Sunday lunch but love the fish and chips here - best in the area!

Had to visit nearby and was recommended this Inn. They were not wrong. 8 of us arrived outside of 'normal' meal times but the barman was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. We all ordered different meals and the quality of food that arrived was brilliant. Excellently prepared and cooked. If this had been a traditional restaurant, they would have been using the chef as a major selling point. Everyone fully enjoyed their meal leaving clean plates everywhere. Then came the bill, a lot of comments were made about how reasonable the prices were for the quality and quantity of food. If we are in the area again, we will be heading back.

We had this traditionally decorated pub restaurant recommended to us for dinner while staying in the area and we weren't disappointed, the food was lovely, freshly made and well presented which we found to be very reasonably priced and the lady who served us for dinner was very pleasant and friendly. We would definitely return if staying in the area again.

Called in with my father after a long walk as often been past but never in. Went into the restaurant and had a helpful barman who was very polite and the service was quick. I was unsure about something in the menu and so the chef came out and explained it to me. We both really enjoyed our meal and I will not go past so much without stopping in the future.

Having spend the day walking from Shipston The Wheatsheaf was like an oasis, we had a nice self contained room with an excellent shower, bed was very comfortable all the usual facilities on hand. If staying here bare in mind they do not serve food on a Monday evening. This meant we had a mile or so to walk for a meal, not a problem more an inconvenience.

Went for Sunday lunch. Enjoyed a lovely carvery, although the carvery area is quite squashed and the table we sat at meant we had people queueing next to us as we were eating. Would return but request a different table.

We were looking for somewhere for a big family lunch that was central for us all to get to from around the country. So, I didn’t know what to expect but from the start Jane and Andre were incredibly helpful and came up with a lovely fresh menu of seasonal food. We had a room to ourselves and had a great afternoon out. The food was delicious, and Jane and Andre did everything to make us feel welcome and relaxed. Even though they both must have been very busy getting us food and drink they never made us feel rushed and nothing was too much trouble for them. There were some very good wines and beers and also a great selection of no/low alcohol drinks which was welcome as so many of us were driving.

This once was our favourite place for a carvery. Booked a table for 24 when we arrived it was for 22 the plastic cover on the carvery defeats a carvery it's ridiculous and slow service we all ate at very different times. Claim it's for hygiene the person serving had some dirty tshirt on and the girl was flicking her hair behind the screen I get it's hot but take the plastic screen down for God sake and let customers help themselves definitely will not be returning as its the 2nd bad time we've had now and it's quite an expensive carvery for the service. Very disappointed our whole table were disappointed. Also why put the sauce at the beginning of a carvery? Have to push back all through the queue to get to sauce

Food was very good we had the chicken enchiladas and chilli. The only complaint was the chilli portion was on the small side compared to the enchiladas. The staff were very friendly and quick to take our order. The pub was a little cold so we sat next to the fire (very cosy).
