Poor selection of real ale only 6X on. Took forever to be served. Nice position for a pub, just a shame it is so badly run. I might give it another go but its a low chance, probably not worth the effort.

I have been going to this pub for many years, it was once the best pub/carvery around the area for a while. It has had its ups and downs with bad staff, bad management and no so good food, I saw an ad saying they are under new management so I thought we would give it a go! Apart from the walls having a coat of bright white paint there was no difference! The young manageress was very obliging and made a valiant effort. I think there were only 6 or 7 of us in the pub during out visit (6.30-9.00). Well the food - everything seemed to be overcooked and how does corned beef hash fit into a roast dinner????! So (apart from the new manageress) I was not impressed at all - it needs a lot of money spending on the place now, this new look isnt going to work!!!!

What a huge disappointment. No real ales on at all, no one had changed any barrels. I settled for a lager and had to wait while they put a barrel on. The patio area was covered in pigeon pooh and so were all the tables. The menu was really sparse and everyone in there was having carvery, nobody under the age of 100.

Popped into to the pub for a drink but couldn’t access the door at the back of the pub due to the steps being blocked by a Volkswagen SUV. We went through to the front of the pub and was greeted by a man sitting in the corner doing some book keeping and to make matters worse, at 1pm in the afternoon, there was a hoover laying around with cleaning supplies. Not at all impressed, will not be returning. It’s a shame as the pub from the outside looks quite nice.

Visited here yesterday for the first TIME, and unfortunately, I was not overly impressed with the carvery. While I appreciate that the veg should be hard, if cooked correctly so either cook it this way or cook it soft. Much of the veg was half and half, and my daughter burnt her mouth on a hot spot in the potatoes. It was real shame as the service was very good

My first time visiting with my partner and we opted for a carvery, the staff we met were very friendly and welcoming. The carvery deck was behind a screen and the staff dished up for you which was abit different to the usual carvery but they said we could have as much of what we wanted they didn't mind. The food was very nice and tasty and felt like proper homemade food which was very nice only downside I didn't enjoy the gravy it tasted burnt but the daphanoise potato was absolutely stunning could have eaten a whole plate of that the meat also melted in your mouth and wasn't chewy like most Great food, great place would definitely recommend the menu looked great and full of options too Will definitely be back

This establishment could be a gold mine being on the canal it is a great location but unfortunately that is where it stops. I was in a party of 25 on a coach we were booked for 2.00 pm it was 3.15 before we were called to the carvery 3 very small joints of meat including a small Turkey crown which they ran out of and was told it would be 10 minutes by which time my plate had been handed to me I did not want beef or pork I ended up with one rubbery Yorker 3 bits of overcooked Parsnip and a spoonful of cauliflower cheese they sent another diner to tell me the Turkey was ready they could not be bothered to come to our table to tell us. The young ladiycarving meat had very long hair not tied back. When it came to dessert they kept telling us what we could not have as they had run out, one poor lady got 3 pots of cream spilled all over her and then was told she had put her hand out and knocked the tray which the lady did not. This place lacks organisation, professionalism and attention to detail our visit was a car crash from start to finish. The food did not even look appetising . You really missed a trick with our coach party instead of 25 people singing your praises you have 25 very unhappy diners.

So disappointing. We have been taking family and friends here, for a carvery, for years. Sad to say, we won't be going back !! Sprouts and parsnips were hard, roast potatoes were brown and tasteless. In fact, whole meal was tastless and had the appearance of being warmed up. We went around 5pm, hoping for fresh food, think we had leftovers. Wish we had checked recent reviews before we went, most seem to be saying the same.

Have been several times and enjoyed the carvery but not this time. Saturday 1.30 so normally a busier time but the roast potatoes and parsnips were inedible. The was a huge pot of both and tasted as if they had been kept warm for hours. While I stood at the counter a tray of roasted potatoes were brought in and the tray topped up but they were dreadful and I can only assume they had been kept warm in the kitchen for ages. I dread to think of the taste of the ones buried underneath the latest additional as they were dreadful. Such a Shane as normally I enjoy the carvery but never again fir me.

Claim it's for hygiene the person serving had some dirty tshirt on and the girl was flicking her hair behind the screen I get it's hot but take the plastic screen down for God sake and let customers help themselves definitely will not be returning as its the 2nd bad time we've had now and it's quite an expensive carvery for the service. This is the worst carvery I have ever visited. The roast potatoes were brown inside and had a warmed up (several times) taste. The cauliflower cheese was brown. Again this was Not fresh. Sprouts totally raw. Nothing was very warm. Meat was chewy, saying that I could barely cut it to put in my mouth to chew. Carvery meat is usually very tender. I was told on the phone it was dog friendly but only being able to sit outside isn't at all what dog friendly implies. I'm not sure why they don't designate an area in the bar for dogs as every other pub in the local area does... everyone owns a dog and it would attract so many more families. I'd love to come and enjoy the pub in future if these rules change!!

We found the eagle and sun after a random canal walk several years ago and frequent the place regularly (mostly on Sundays for the absolutely amazing carvery.) We came today as a family of four and once again had a lovely lunch. As usual the most generous portion and outstanding carvery. The ability to try a little of every meat with a plethora of quality vegetables and potatoes with a superb gravy is what Sundays are all about. I’ve always left toby carvery’s underwhelmed due to little meat with an abundance of cheap veg like peas, sweet corn and watery gravy. The eagle and sun offers 4 great meats, a variety of creamy, roast and boiled potatoes paired with variety of premium well cooked vegetables. The staff are friendly and attentive. The perspex screen works well and ensures a much higher level of hygiene without every person coughing and breathing on food. Not to mention the cross contamination and mess that most carveys suffer from letting people help themselves. Please don’t ever change as you have the carvery nailed.

Should have avoided the carvery. Meat eaters were fine but for a veggie who chose the vegetables only option, it was very disappointing for just a couple of pounds less. Broccoli was mushy and cauliflower cheese more like mushy cauliflower in white sauce. All cooked for customers with no teeth. If the meat eaters insist on going again, will choose off the menu. Nice canalside location.

The carvery was very enjoyable and I would return based on the food. I appreciate the perspex screen being in place for hygiene measures during covid however I would suggest a change to the screen as this made communication very difficult. However I was disappointed with the service. We felt neglected at times through our visit, that no one was interested in serving us. For example our plates were collected after dinner and we were not asked if we wanted dessert. We asked for a dessert menu which we received, and that they would return in a couple of minutes to take our order. No one returned. Additionally, when we arrived we were allocated our table. One hour later, another group arrived and they were told they were at the table we were sitting at and that we were just leaving when in fact we were waiting for our dessert order to be taken, based on this we decided to pay and leave feeling like we would have been rushed had we have stayed longer. I have previous eaten here and would rate everything highly but today I left feeling rather disappointed.

Really bad sewerage smell outside in car park. Girl at the bar didnt seem interested in serving us. Carvery was not self service and behind clear plastic board found it hard to comunicate to the guy serving us. Wife wanted veggie gravey which she was told he would bring straight out. Halfway through our meals it still hadn't arrived so had to get up during meal and ask again. Young girl was very nice and helpful though. Overall poor. Response from my feedback is not acceptable. This has obviously been going on for a while going from what others since this review. Copied and pasted reply. No customer care at all. Poor excuse for plastic screen being there. Obviously people do not like it so maybe time to rethink how you do things. The smell I could smell (this is from someone who knows the establishment VERY well) is from the kitchens waste.

The cost was good and value for money. The venue does allow dogs to be present in the eating areas. There was music but it wasnt too loads or of poor choice. The pub is set in nice surroundings and is a nice place to be in the summer. Be warned... the carvery portions are massive. Doubt one would need a starter, if you are wanting to try the deserts menu. We enjoy going to the retreat it is a very friendly pub the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble, we have been a few times both lunch time and evening, they do a great lunch offer 2 courses for £10, I would highly recommend going, the prices I think are very reasonable and everything is cooked to order and is always piping hot

Burgers: awesome, Sunday roast: lovely, staff: super friendly, inside: nice, cozy, pretty artwork on the walls. I’m usually very picky but I can say only good things about this place!

We were on a folk dancing holiday at a school in Evesham so had to try their Wetherspoons. It was Curry Club Day so my husband had the Chicken Tikka Masala and, for some reason, I was more tempted by the Ramen Noodle Bowl and paid an extra £1.25 to add a char grilled chicken breast. I am glad that I had the noodles because I really enjoyed it, although I did pinch a poppadum from my husband! He also enjoyed his curry. We were happy with our visit.
