Have been several times and enjoyed the carvery but not this time. Saturday 1.30 so normally a busier time but the roast potatoes and parsnips were inedible. The was a huge pot of both and tasted as if they had been kept warm for hours. While I stood at the counter a tray of roasted potatoes were brought in and the tray topped up but they were dreadful and I can only assume they had been kept warm in the kitchen for ages. I dread to think of the taste of the ones buried underneath the latest additional as they were dreadful. Such a Shane as normally I enjoy the carvery but never again fir me.

This once was our favourite place for a carvery. Booked a table for 24 when we arrived it was for 22 the plastic cover on the carvery defeats a carvery it's ridiculous and slow service we all ate at very different times. Claim it's for hygiene the person serving had some dirty tshirt on and the girl was flicking her hair behind the screen I get it's hot but take the plastic screen down for God sake and let customers help themselves definitely will not be returning as its the 2nd bad time we've had now and it's quite an expensive carvery for the service. Very disappointed our whole table were disappointed. Also why put the sauce at the beginning of a carvery? Have to push back all through the queue to get to sauce

Food was covered, so asked to see it before I committed to the carvery…Vegetables were overcooked and resembled mush. A tiny scrap of beef, which was dry and tough remained along with some pork, which looked barely cooked and contained mostly fat. Staff were miserable, long hair, not tied back, hanging over the food. Everything was poor, the pub is tired and felt very unclean.

This is the worst carvery I have ever visited. The roast potatoes were brown inside and had a warmed up (several times) taste. The cauliflower cheese was brown. Again this was Not fresh. Sprouts totally raw. Nothing was very warm. Meat was chewy, saying that I could barely cut it to put in my mouth to chew. Carvery meat is usually very tender. I don't know how a pub can turn out such poor food. Fit for one place only, and that's the bin. A total waste of money.

We found the eagle and sun after a random canal walk several years ago and frequent the place regularly (mostly on Sundays for the absolutely amazing carvery.) We came today as a family of four and once again had a lovely lunch. As usual the most generous portion and outstanding carvery. The ability to try a little of every meat with a plethora of quality vegetables and potatoes with a superb gravy is what Sundays are all about. I’ve always left toby carvery’s underwhelmed due to little meat with an abundance of cheap veg like peas, sweet corn and watery gravy. The eagle and sun offers 4 great meats, a variety of creamy, roast and boiled potatoes paired with variety of premium well cooked vegetables. The staff are friendly and attentive. The perspex screen works well and ensures a much higher level of hygiene without every person coughing and breathing on food. Not to mention the cross contamination and mess that most carveys suffer from letting people help themselves. Please don’t ever change as you have the carvery nailed.

Should have avoided the carvery. Meat eaters were fine but for a veggie who chose the vegetables only option, it was very disappointing for just a couple of pounds less. Broccoli was mushy and cauliflower cheese more like mushy cauliflower in white sauce. All cooked for customers with no teeth. If the meat eaters insist on going again, will choose off the menu. Nice canalside location.

The carvery was very enjoyable and I would return based on the food. I appreciate the perspex screen being in place for hygiene measures during covid however I would suggest a change to the screen as this made communication very difficult. However I was disappointed with the service. We felt neglected at times through our visit, that no one was interested in serving us. For example our plates were collected after dinner and we were not asked if we wanted dessert. We asked for a dessert menu which we received, and that they would return in a couple of minutes to take our order. No one returned. Additionally, when we arrived we were allocated our table. One hour later, another group arrived and they were told they were at the table we were sitting at and that we were just leaving when in fact we were waiting for our dessert order to be taken, based on this we decided to pay and leave feeling like we would have been rushed had we have stayed longer. I have previous eaten here and would rate everything highly but today I left feeling rather disappointed.

Really bad sewerage smell outside in car park. Girl at the bar didnt seem interested in serving us. Carvery was not self service and behind clear plastic board found it hard to comunicate to the guy serving us. Wife wanted veggie gravey which she was told he would bring straight out. Halfway through our meals it still hadn't arrived so had to get up during meal and ask again. Young girl was very nice and helpful though. Overall poor. Response from my feedback is not acceptable. This has obviously been going on for a while going from what others since this review. Copied and pasted reply. No customer care at all. Poor excuse for plastic screen being there. Obviously people do not like it so maybe time to rethink how you do things. The smell I could smell (this is from someone who knows the establishment VERY well) is from the kitchens waste.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

I’ve eaten here before over many years and was very surprised to find how quiet it was here on the night. Having been travelling to the other side of the world and back for the last few months I was looking forward to real British carvery, with maybe a beer, so when visiting life long friends in Bromsgrove we decided to splash out on a 6:30 pm trip for dinner. It’s a pub of two half’s, with the old roadside part of restaurant / bar and a larger glass filled seating extension over looking the canal, so there’s plenty of room if it gets busy, but we always phone for a booking first to ensure that the carvery is actually on. Thing is now days, since recent events in the U.K. demand has somewhat dropped so we’ve lost a lot of good eateries especially those that are away from main roads in the countryside and as I said before there were only a few tables in use with maybe 30 people seated in the older area. We were greeted by the young lady at the bar and pointed to our table for 4. She then came over to take our drinks order but as we weren’t ordering anything from the food menu just carvery’s she and her colleague were soon back with our drinks and carvery tickets. Now my mate had a pint of draft Doom Bar, which I know can be a little challenging to present for the smaller establishment as transporting and tapping times can vary flavour, but he was very happy with his. The ladies had one half of a Guinness, and a half of shandy beer, both of which were fully drained over the course of the meal , a very good sign indeed, as the ladies are never shy of comment on food or drink. For myself I tried a pint of TimothyTaylor, which is a very big treat for me, as my love of beers has been strictly curtailed due to health problems, so I was extremely happy to report that the pint not only passed muster it was very tasty. Now onto the food, this may be of interest to those who’ve never visited before. The carvery is set out behind a Covid Screen, with the chef presenting your choice of meat with another staff member, filling up the plate to your orders as you go. Some may find this upsetting thinking you don’t get what you want or as much. Rubbish. Forewarned is forearmed, don’t be shy. I asked for and got three slices of beef and turkey each as I do not like pork or ham as much. As for the veg, and there was a lot of choice here, and they did not skimp on any of the servings, at all! Why the chef even presented me with a boat of extra gravy to help was down the vast amount of vegetables. So my advice is to take your time, be assertive as to your choices and amounts but be aware that at busier times it may take a little longer so send up your slower eaters first. Being with my wife, who is a professional carvery eating specialist, I can report everything was very tasty. For myself the Yorkshire puddings were slightly over done, however they still remained soft inside and with the gravy, mmmmmmmm. My favourite. The turkey was moist with loads of flavour, the beef very good. Now root veg can be a little changeable over the year but all the carrot , parsnips, swede tasted fine. The cauliflower cheese, garlic potatoes absolutely perfect, not as good as my Moms of course but still a very good second. Peas, sprouts, roast potatoes all very good, and as I missed out in a tradition Christmas dinner this year I was very happy to see the sprouts. There were more veg on offer , sweetcorn kernels , boiled potatoes, cabbage etc but I’d over indulged on my choices so the plate was full, hence the extra gravy boat. Over all what did the four of us think? Drinks good. Food very good Service very good indeed 5 stars? NO…… 4 half yes. Folks it’s a restaurant, still running after all the c**p the last few years has thrown at it, many such places have closed or fallen well below par, this place has managed to stay afloat. There appeared to be three staff on , maybe more in kitchen but all three did an excellent job though out the time we were there. The results was Four very full happy diners. So thanks again Eagle & Sun, we will return yet again.

I opted to choose from the normal menu with the battered fish and chips. The piece I had was 95% batter, which was mega greasy. It says something when the chips were the best part of the meal. The majority of the family had the carvery, which they were happy with, and I did try the beef, and that was exceptional. The service was quite slow, and the empty plates stayed on our table for a good 25 minutes. There was also a promotion of Pepsi (fizzy drinks) where the driver would get free drinks, but I had 3 pints of Pepsi and paid £3.80 for each one of them. I dont feel its upto me to tell the staff. They should be the ones asking. After all, it was them that said we didn't need a stamp??? I will say that this is my first bad experience from a dozen visits in the last few years, so maybe a bad day at the office.

Shocking. The food was inedible my wife didn’t even eat hers. Pub staff/managers were not very helpful and abrupt on entering and waiting for service… From what being one of the best carvery’s in Worcestershire to the worst unfortunately..shame. Our previous time we were told their wasn’t any sauces to see a great big bowl full as we left. It’s a lovely setting especially in the summer but unfortunately we will not go back. Hate to think what their breakfasts are like..

Came for xmas eve, but cork quite a lot for a summer drink or carvery. Excellent food as always, HUGE portions and expertly cooked. Great staff, friendly and nice atmosphere. Best carvery in the area

Nice food, long queue to pay and then join the queue to get buffet food. Good deal for seniors with smaller appetite.

Lovely Carvery menu. Really big portions! The Eagle and Sun staff were fabulous- they fitted a party of 9 in at really short notice. Made us feel really welcome.

Lovely pub, excellent food. The only reason I gave 4 stars on the atmosphere is because we went in at the start of the lunchtime service, so there was hardly anyone in there. W will definitely be back.

I brought my cousin here over the weekend as I live not too far from droitwich and we fancied a proper good carvery. I’ve been there before and nothings changed, everything is just as good as before. Good portions, Good environment and lovely staff. We left very full!

Nice pint of Timothy Taylors on a canalside walk. Carvery was inviting but would have negated the whole point of a healthy walk, we will return for a meal once we have burned off some more calories.

The previous visit we found the venue very nice, this time we spotted changes! Finding out the it was under new management, all of them we felt to be a great improvement and enjoyed our meal and experience. I would also like to add that I am autistic and found the experience to be very pleasant. Thank you.

We were looking for somewhere for a big family lunch that was central for us all to get to from around the country. So, I didn’t know what to expect but from the start Jane and Andre were incredibly helpful and came up with a lovely fresh menu of seasonal food. We had a room to ourselves and had a great afternoon out. The food was delicious, and Jane and Andre did everything to make us feel welcome and relaxed. Even though they both must have been very busy getting us food and drink they never made us feel rushed and nothing was too much trouble for them. There were some very good wines and beers and also a great selection of no/low alcohol drinks which was welcome as so many of us were driving.
