Very welcoming. Large indoor and outdoor seating available. Great menu with plenty of options, and able to make changes to the meals is excellent. Plenty of parking. Dog and children friendly. And the desserts are to die for. Highly recommend.

Excellent service and great food. Booked a table for 10 originally on the Saturday but had to change to the Friday. Absolutely no problem to do this. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be recommending this pub to friends and family and hopefully returning shortly 👍

Stopped overnight with motorhome on way to South Coast.....large flat carpark ideal and pub lunch good - nights sleep however spoilt by persistent dog barking!

As part of a group of 20 people we have a delicious meal here about every 6 weeks. Food excellent all tastes catered for, and the staff are fabulous. Great value.

Food was ok. The only disappointment was the "chicken burger " wasn't a chicken burger it was 3 chicken nuggets on a roll. Try again on presentation. Chef needs a kick up the rear and focus on food. Other wise fine. Staff were lovely.

We stayed in the car park in our campervan for an event at the thee counties showground. Perfect for our needs and we have booked to do the same in June. Beautiful food, freshly made and really tasty. We had Cajun Chicken, Lasagne, Scampi and Fish and Chips, the portions were ample and the homemade chips were the best ever. The staff are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

We like it. Plenty of food. Well cooked and presented. Plenty of choice including vegetarian. Reasonable prices and good service with a smile.

We visited on wed 14th, we had lovely food of fish and chips. The barstaff were welcoming and when I couldn’t manage a desert they packaged one up for me to take home for later. We noticed a corner in the pub had a play area and dogs also welcome, a pub that caters for everyone.

We were visiting the area and having looked at the website arrived before the designated time for kitchen closure. On enquiring about food, we were informed in a most curt manner that the kitchen was closed and the man then walked off. I waited to point out that the website stated 8pm, he then told me there was a notice outside saying 'times varied'. His manner was curt, rude, inhospitable (in a service industry) and dismissive. Do not go there on a winter's evening if you are averse to rudeness. There are far better ways of telling a potential customer that the kitchen is closed. Any polite and respectful version, I would have understood. It was Wed 7 February if anyone wants to check who this rude man is (if he was not the manager, that is).

I was traveling from outside the country to visit family, the other two with me at lunch live just a few minutes away. This restaurant changed ownership several years back. It was known to be good those years ago, but we were all impressed by the attentive service, quality of food, prices and speed of delivery today. This place is huge. If all of Worcester decides to eat lunch there at the same moment, they’ll have a bit of squeeze, but they’ll still fit you in somewhere. Food ordered: gammon steak (5/5), fish and chips (5/5) and I ate the all day breakfast which was infinitely better than two ate in London during my travels (which being in the city also obviously cost me 30-40% more). We talked for a while with the owner, who was wonderful. To their next guests I will tell you this - if you want something different, ask! They will go above and beyond, but I can see a pattern of people making complaints here, when they did not actually verbalize anything during the multiple opportunities. Give them a chance, no two people want the Sunday lunch the same way, or the all day breakfast the same way. It pains me to see negative reviews when people also state they didn’t communicate a single thing in person. This isn’t helping a local independent business at all. Point of note is that I took the train after lunch to London via Worcester Parkway and the station can’t be more than 5 minutes away which is very convenient for some going that route.

The salad and garlic bread were obviously prepared by a fully qualified chef but the lasagna was not. Dry, tasteless with less meat than a can off smartprice cat food. Service was good although long wait for food when not really busy. Wouldn't return.

Unfortunately not the best experience, quality of food was poor the re-heated chips says it all! Could not help thinking the 2 employees we spoke with would benefit from retraining as there was little enthusiasm or interest shown towards customers. The Retreat Inn is quite a large pub and does lack atmosphere (of course could be different in the evening) hope things will improve, try again in 12 months see if there are any changes.

Why is it that if a customer complains the manager always is never in the wrong. She never seems to take the complaint on board. Its always the customers fault. Years ago you had to book weeks in advance for a table, not anymore. What does that tell you.

Visted on Saturday 16th December 2023 for lunch. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food came in good time and was all reasonably priced. Will visit again.

Haven't been here for a while, stopped for lunch with mum. Two lovely meals from light bites menu, fab home cooked chips, generous portions. Choice of hot puddings with custard, ice cream or fresh cream to follow ,incredible value. Great pub in excellent location and friendly staff too. Will definitely be returning soon. Can't recommend highly enough.

Stayed here 14th November in our campervan. Food was delicious and very reasonable. Lovely warm fire going and chilled atmosphere. Interesting chat with landlady. What a bonus to have as a local!

6 of us ate and had puddings. The gammon didn't look cooked at one end. But they took the price of it off the bill. So all in all was happy

The Retreat in Norton used to be a restaurant where we would go for a special occasion. It is no longer that place. As a starter, I ordered the soup, but this was glutinous and tasteless – I rarely season food, but had to add pepper to this to give it some flavour. Then I tried the “curry”, which was spicy, but did not really taste of curry. I’m afraid that we will not be returning.

Both staff ,menu ,food and the pub were all get staff pleasant and helpful all good Not a local but my Auntie lives in village and we visit quite often and would go there again .many thanks .

Wanted a lovely Sunday roast, what I got was gravy like dishwater and overcooked mushy vegetables and instant/frozen mash plus a frozen stuffing ball. Really disappointed, ate majority as at £12 a roast it’s pretty expensive for what you get. The location and the peacefulness of the place is what makes this place, the food is a big let down.

We used to frequent this at least once or twice a month about 4 - 5 years ago. Ownership changed a few times and it went downhill, especially on the food front - but due to the recently posted good reviews we tried this venue again this weekend to celebrate a special birthday. All was great in terms of the welcome, the service, cleanliness and seating. - although the place looked empty. What really let this down was the food... There was a large group of us and each person had something to complain about; The Cajun Chicken wrap was too overpowering on the mint and tasted weird. The standard burger tasted worse than a McDonalds burger and had burnt chips. The Lasagna was basically vegetables in Vinaigrette with some limp spinach which tasted like it had gone off - possibly the worst ever tasted - and these are some of the comments from various guests within our party. The side salads were fresh and lovely. The chips were a strange assembly of wedges with flat steak type chips and normal chips mixed together. Very confusing like they used the last bits of the chips they had left... The portions were large on oval plates which were hot. What really got us was the ketchup - budget ketchup, rather than the real thing. It looked like a translucent red goo, much like a Chilli Sauce colour rather than the deep red sauce we normally get. We all compared notes long after we got home and everyone had tummy, burp/wind issues and didn't feel very well. :( Sadly we will not be returning here for probably another 4 years. A real shame as the owner seemed lovely, talkative and the venue is a real gem of a place in a great location.

Lovely country pub on my walk to Worcester Parkway station. Nice selection of beers including Hobgoblin IPA. Very nice. Unfortunately no time to try the food, maybe next time!

We visited The Retreat to gather and have a catch-up. I had not used this place for some time as a few years ago went off it due to poor standards. Pleasantly surprised on entry and on approach to bar... lady behind the bar was ready to serve us .. How refreshing to have a barmaid who was ready to engage in conversation.. We all (9) had a delicious meal..covered a wide selection of the menu and not one portion was poor,cold or received a complaint .. The deserts were the best portion ever..jammy dodgers with ice-cream was gorrgeous.. So pleased that it is so good and got quality and style.. I need a good pub locally that has the ambience of what pubs used to be like.. Good luck with managing the Pub Wendy .. For sure you will see us again ,,

This pub is excellent! Excellent service and very kind staff. The manager was also very nice and she was very good to get along with. I don't understand some of these negative reviews? Known about this pub for years and have never had a bad word to say about this place! A proper hidden gem of Worcester! Nice location too which makes it better. I have already recommended this place to a few people and will carry on after the great meal I had! Definitely recommend the retreat burger :)

Very expensive for what you get ordered a burger which cost £18 for two frozen burgers in a bun anaemic, bacon and some fries don’t waste your money .

Very friendly greeting, they accommodated our party of 12 with easy. Everything arrived together with no waiting around. The food was delicious with generous portions. We had lunch here today, we had the Sunday roast well let’s just say it wasn’t a roast we got served chargrilled chicke not roast chicken the roast potatoes were cheap frozen ones the gravy was like dish water the whole thing was very bland no flavour and not a great experience. As for the lady behind the counter extremely rude as she said “ people who complain only want something for free “ the thing is I was prepared to pay the £20 she didn’t handle herself well at all I would give this pub a miss everyone save your money

Ate here today with the family for my dads birthday. Food was excellent and great sized portions. The menu had a good choice of meals and good specials on the board. The staff were so friendly and helpful, couldn't ask for a nicer atmosphere.

Went here on Sunday wanted a roast and hadn't been there for years. Well what can I say me and dad love a roast and my hubby and mum had steak philly baguette and chips which they enjoyed. Our roast consisted of packet mask frozen spuds and veg frozen Yorkshire pudding and processed beef it was awful. Never again

Update: We had a table for 4 at 12pm, you were not busy. There was us and one other table at that point. We ate what we could as we had not eaten all day. Our kids are the remaining veg and frozen mash. Yes our table was checked, 2 minutes after our plates had been put down. We were still sorting our children out. No was not me on trip advisor, but if there is a review then maybe it’s a trending theme. The meat was cold, and tasted previously cooked. There is no way the meat was cooked that day, may it be from a butcher which I find had to believe as the way is was sliced. Fresh cooked meat will not look like that. Standards of food quality are obviously different as why you serve something you know to be vile? Although the veg may be cooked fresh, from frozen it will not be fresh tasting again there is a great difference in standards. When I went to pay the girl on the till simply said the bill with no eye contact or any questions about we’re we happy. Like I said, I’m not one to leave bad reviews that are unnecessary Original Review: Went today for Sunday lunch. The food was awful and I don’t like to leave bad reviews. The Sunday lunch was the same as a microwave meal. The meat was out of a packet, and the veg, mash, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes were all frozen and not fresh. There was nothing on the plate that was cooked fresh, all frozen. The carrots were the small smooth ones that you know are only available frozen. It’s clearly not a proper chef as no chef would be happy sending that out to paying customers. I’m sure the owner will comment and say you should of complained, but you can see the staff are not interested. Tried a few years ago, still the same just had a lick of paint.

Great Pub , Menu and Specials Board , can highly recommend the Panni's, very good salad, no bitter tasting leaves from the hedgerows . Forget Mr Kipling , Mrs Sayce makes Exceedingly Good Cheesecakes ! Friendly Staff and clean and presentable Establishment all round .

Some pleasant decor, reasonable wait times, helpful staff. My steak order came back a bit wrong, but I think they were dealing with a lot that day on account of appliance faults. Family were pleased with the baguettes and all day breakfast looked like great value for money. Overall recommended.
