The Little Lark never fails to impress with a tasty, large-sized meal, with very reasonably priced day menu options. The staff are friendly and helpful, too. We've visited he Little Lark multiple times and highly recommend.

Whilst on a little trip to the area, we had been trapped in our accommodation for the day due to appalling weather. When the rain eventually stopped, we sought a dog friendly pub within a reasonable short drive. There were plenty of options but the reviews of Little Lark were good so we headed there. Apart from the lack of parking, the experience was faultless. Friendly staff, cozy decor, a good choice of food and a few real ales to chose from. The Desperate Dan pie was my choice and it didn't disappoint. My partner had a nice chilli and there were no complaints with the food. I would certainly visit again if in the area and would recommend to anyone visiting.

I went to this pub several times many years ago when it was part of Colm O'Rourke's Little Pub Company chain. This was the first I have been recently and I was so pleased to see how good it still is. In an age when do many pubs have closed and so many of those that remain are part of large bland chains or have gastro-pubbed, it is such a pleasure to find a good honest pub. Friendly helpful staff, decent choice of proper beers, good unpretentious pub food, pleasant atmosphere. Everything I like to see in a pub. I was delighted to see that still serve the legendary Desperate Dan cow pies harking back to the Mad O'Rourke days

We stumbled across this pub while our family plus dog were driving across the country to get home from our holidays. We were tired and hungry. I rang ahead and they squeezed us in. The heavens opened up and we were drenched just walking from where we had parked our car. A very friendly welcome was given us..even the wet dog!. We each had a meal which was good old home cooked pub grub. Service and good size portioned food and excellent, just what we needed without breaking the bank. Really refreshing to find a little gem of a place. Our only problem was not being able to stay long enough to enjoy the atmosphere as we head home. Thanks for feeding my family, so l didn't have to cook when we finally got home.

Booked a table the day before we visited, so thought it was a lovely personal touch with the ‘reserved’ sign that was left out for us on our arrival. Pleasant members of staff behind the bar as well as the attentive young lady who brought the food to our table. The Rogan Josh curry and accompaniments I had were delicious as was the three-bean chilli my son had. The Beef Lasagne, according to my wife, was ‘homemade’ and filling and the best she’d had in a long time. Excellent value for money in my opinion as all our plates were empty at the end. A cosy and dog-friendly pub and one we will definitely revisit in the future.

I feel ashamed to say I've never visited this pub, which is pretty close to where i live. However it was my birthday and we decided to take advantage of the Mon-Wed 50% scheme. We chose this pub over others because there were at least 4 vegetarian dishes on the menu. The owner was welcoming and very friendly throughout our entire visit. A down to earth guy who was more than helpful to talk through other dish options when it came to ordering food. Drinks - a great selection of gins (with the option to 'go for a double, at very reasonable price 👍 Food - brie wedges to start with on a bed of salad and coleslaw...it was so welcoming to see a good amount of salad rather than a few leaves on the side of the plate. Mains ordered; sirloin steak, The Lark burger and goats cheese tart. The steak came with a range of vegetables along with onion rings. The burger and bacon were tasty and served again with chips and onion rings... the goats cheese tart was made with flaky pastry..my favourite. So in total we had 2 starters and 3 mains and 3 drinks (£32)!!! It was definitely worth more than the £20 we paid on the (food) government scheme, however due to the scheme we went there and we now will definitely go again.

A proper pub which you dont see very often these days. Called in whilst in the area and was not disappointed. Only had a sandwich and it was well worth the wait. Very good selection of beers. Quite a few friendly locals, good friendly publican and even a friendly dog making himself comfortable. Only drawback is that the pub is situated on a very busy main road without a car park, so p[arking is at a premium. Well worth a visit.

Visited as party of 6 for a mix of my birthday and my retirement and 5 of 6 of us had the Desperate Dan pie but were all sadly disappointed. The pies were totally lacking any taste at all and could have done with some seasoning. Mainly veg in a tasteless gravy. Big thumbs down, sorry. The sixth meal was fish and chips which looked great but apparently was very greasy and made the person feel sick until the next morning....will not be revisiting this pub.

We visited the little lark for a friends night out. Having been here in the past, it was nice to go back. I opted for the desperate Dan pie, I was disappointed with the pie it was nearly full ok thanks vegetables. When you usually have a pie it has carrots, onions and peas. This pie had cauliflower, broccoli, peas, carrots and 2 slices of potato. The steak and kidney was good quality. Plus it could have been a lot warmer. Top marks of the evening went to the gammon and chips

Visited The Lark on a Friday night for a bite to eat and a drink. The atmosphere was lively, the beer was excellent and the bar staff were first class. We ordered food, which came quickly and was all tasty and well cooked. I can highly recommend the steak and ale pie. The only downside was that whilst eating, there was a group of people on the next table with at least two of them smoking "vaping" machines which was not at all pleasant whilst we were eating and if I had realised that, I would not have ordered food there. As they were sat on the table next to the bar, I must assume that this pub allows patrons to use these devices inside the pub whilst people smoking cigarettes were all stood outside! It took the edge of otherwise a very nice visit to the pub.

When we went there were no more than 12 people in the pub but the service was very, very slow. We ordered Mulled Wine, which is just a matter of putting some wine in a glass and adding hot water. We had to wait about 10 minutes and this was after two reminders. The main meal took some time to arrive but when it did the meal was very good. We ordered one portion of apple crumble, again we had to remind them that we were waiting. When it arrived it looked a mess, the apple and crumble had been mixed together and spread across the plate. We think that this was either so the chef could heat iy up in a microwave quicker or to make it look a larger portion, which it was not. The pub has the making of a good pub restaurant but needs to improve on the speed of delivery, presentation and size of the sweets. During the meal they need to ask the customer if everything is alright, which they did not do.

A first port of call for many returning dogs!Regulars are all lovely and will treat you as 'one of their own' if you fancy a natter! There's a "book swap" library for the readers amongst you - swap one of your own books for one off the shelf or leave a donation for charity. All in all a fab little pub with heaps of character and quality!

We visited this lovely traditional English pub which we have visited many times over the years, with our two small dogs and friends. We had some concerns that the new owners would ruin it. However, the standard of food was if anything better; the beer was still good; the friendly service was excellent; and the decor has been improved. Well done guys, we will be back.

Visited tonite for hubby's birthday - not been in a while, really impressed. Great food, excellent service and the staff went out of their way to make the celebration get together special. Food was fab, nothing too much trouble! Will definitely be back....

Been eating at the lark for maybe 10 years now, never had a bad meal. Food out of this world, good old fashioned pub menu! Lasagne is to die for, particularly the vegetarian one even though I am not veggie.. excellent service, food always consistently good. Yes it has changed hands a few times recently but its still as good as ever. If you fancy a relaxed friendly pub meal of an excellent standard then head on down! Shame they are not serving the fruit wines anymore, mind you they were always getting me into trouble they were that strong! Love the lark!! Good work guys :)

Personally wouldn't have expected a pub like this to serve such tasty homemade lunch grub! Would recommend going in on a lunchtime!

Used to love goung to this little pub, friendly and fun and food was superb and delicious and also very good value for money, always busy, now things have changed, no longer a fun place to visit, new owners do not seem to care what goes on, and the food is now shocking and expensive, not a very clean kitchen either.

We visited the Little Lark twice during our stay in the area. It is a lovely, dog welcoming pub (thanks for the doggy treats), the fire was roaring and everyone was so friendly. We decided to return on Sunday afternoon to try out the food which looked delicious and WOW we was not disappointed. Roast dinner with all the trimmings, one of the best Sunday lunches I've ever had out. The meat was plentiful and for £7.95 the price was brilliant. Will definitely return if we are ever in the area again.

This is a popular little pub, quite unassuming from the road. Fully booked Friday night so we booked for the Saturday. Having read a previous review about the Santa pies(whole Christmas dinner in a pie) we decided to opt for them and weren't disappointed. 2 large and 2 baby pies went down a treat.Mum opted for more delicate Salmon. Chocolate bread and butter pudding was very good too but not a lot of it. When a tip was offered to the landlord/barman? to give to the young waitress it was practically snatched from my Father s hand and no acknowledgement or thanks from the waitress when passed to her.

Roadside pub with 3 seating areas. Excellent simple pub food, well cooked. Table reservations taken. Range of well kept real ales, jug cider, single malts. Frequent food theme nights and legendary Cheese Festival. Small rear courtyard, but this pub is for wet afternoons and dark nights, when the real fire in the front bar is for all to stoke.

As both myself and hubby are previous managers of the lark during the iconic mark the lark era we have hated seeing what happened to this wonderful village pub last year however fear not its getting back to its best. I went in over the weekend with my young family and was shocked to learn the lark even had a high chair. Yes a high chair. Now I can frequent the pub for food with my 9 month old in tow. The food was back to being great. New chef. The waiter was extremely polite and did everything to make our meals that much better. We even got dips with our cheesy garlic bread. The beer was great so my hubby and dad report. The pub was busy and bussling which is what you want to experience. Take it from an old local and manager ... try the lark. For the price of food, experience and quality you won't be disappointed.

This is a lovely unspoilt local pub. Traditional beers, no gimmicks, comfortable pub in Studley. Visited on the 19/10/2014 and it was reasonably busy. The food is popular and taste good. I had the Sunday lunch, roast beef and there was plenty of it on the plate. The staff are friendly and overall it was a good experience. We were regulars a few years back so it was a welcome return for us. Two meals with two rounds of drinks all for twenty pounds.

We stayed here and went to the restaurant to find it set for breakfast. On check out we discovered it had been closed for a year which caused issues as I’m type 1 diabetic! Shame also as the reviews were fantastic

A colleague from overseas and his wife were staying here on a few-days visit to UK. My wife and I joined them for dinner - and wow, we were so glad we did. The welcome from the staff, from the moment we walked in and throughout the evening was nothing short of wonderful. Friendly, professional and fun where appropriate. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent -- I would particularly recommend the Pigeon which I had as a starter - would have had it as main course if it had been an option. I suspect that if I'd asked, they would have accommodated that too - but there was plenty to choose from. All 4 of us enjoyed a great meal in a lovely space with a great view of the floodlit church in the grounds. Not cheap, but worth every penny - cannot recommend it highly enough and my wife and I are already planning to return soon.

Excellent in every way we were a group of friends all with dogs it’s a very dog friendly hotel. Mazine was the duty manager that weekend he was brilliant always there and happy to go that extra mile for the group. Fabulous food, clean spacious rooms and the staff are very friendly. I would highly recommend the hotel it’s in a great position friendly great food. I can’t understand why anyone could write a bad review if you want 5 star go to the Hilton or the Savoy
