¡Qué pub tan fabuloso! Gran ambiente, personal súper amable, comida deliciosa.

MISOGÍNICO a través y a través!

A great, honest, unpretentious village pub, with a number of locals having a drink and watching sport on tv. I have been ill recently and had a longing for some fish and chips so we went there on Sunday midday. Huge value for money portion with some of the best batter I have ever tasted. All enjoyed in the very pleasant garden. A great bitter ale, as well. Just what a traditional pub should be like.

The pub itself is good full and has a vibrant atmosphere!!! We booked this place for our anniversary meal thinking all would be ok !! You know what apart from the starter which we had a hiccup with the service all be it slow !! ( which we were warned about when booking) was good !! Ben sorted out our hiccup with the starter and soon the mains were served !! The quality of the mains was sublime we both didn’t finish our mains but it was because of the amount it came with !! Would I come here again……. Definitely!! It’s a must try in a small village a definite on anyones list !!

What a fantastic little asset to the village, having been a resident of Welford for several years I can honestly say the most recent owners are doing an amazing job, from the lovely new layout inside, the pretty garden ( which is lovely to see finally being used ) to the great food and service. As a mother of three and an auntie to seven it’s nice to be able to take them all to a local establishment where they can have fun on the bouncy castle, enjoy a nice meal outside and most importantly are welcomed. The extra tables out the front and new decorations have certainly proved to be a hit with all of us locals whom were once concerned we would lose our beloved village pub after a long period of closure. Living on the same street as this little gem is fab, highly recommend a visit, hope to see the current owners with us for many years to come.

Visited by luck after travelling to Welford from Bidford. The pub has a small garden out front and a large garden to the rear which is largely shaded. There is no car park but there is space onsite for a few vehicles and we parked opposite on the road out the front. It's all flat and accessible (for our kids' double buggy) We only planned to have a pint but chose to have a couple of basket meals. The Mrs had scampi (she loves scampi) and I had the battered sausages, chips and curry sauce. WOW! We were really surprised. Chips were crispy and well seasoned and the battered sausages were a real treat. Firstly there were 3 and they were really fat and tasty. I reckon they were sourced locally. The batter was awesome. The Mrs loved her Scampi too and gave it 8.5 on the scampiometer, only suggestion the scampi could have been more golden. The curry sauce could have been slightly thicker as well but that's being really picky. The pub has a really nice vibe and is in keeping with the village which we stumbled across and were grateful for doing so. Will defo be going again!

Food is really nice. Unfortunately that's were the good points end. Local pub run by a co op of locals who bought it according to my holiday guide. Went for a night with my family . Sat ourselves down no clear instructions on if we would be seated or seat ourselves a local told us in the end in a sarcastic manner. Lady next to me another local went to the bar and kept looking to make sure I wouldn't take her laptop. In the end I announced loudly I wasn't a thief and I would prefer not to be stared at everytime she went to the bar. She promptly left. Locals are not that friendly or welcoming to outsiders . You will be made to feel like an outsider. Lastly there was no butter for my bread or olives on my bread and olive tray. No explanation of why or offer of a reduction in price. Overall not a pleasant night at all couldn't wait to get back to our holiday cottage and make myself a dessert. If your a non local stay away you won't be welcome.

I take my children swimming at the nearby pool so have an hour or so to kill on a Friday evening. My wife and I decided to grab something to eat at the local pub and were both pleasantly surprise at the choice an quality of the food. This seemed like a very busy village pub with friendly staff and a good selection of both food and drink. We both had chicken which was served with chunky chips. It came very quickly and was well presented. The member of staff (think his name was Simon) checked to make sure everything was alright 5 minutes into the meal and again at the end when he cleared the plates. The Landlord(?), a pleasant enough chap, told us that they no longer do food. So, having to down a drink on a very empty stomach, we staggered on our weary way to find food elesewnere. I am unsure if the pub has stopped serving food altogether or is just between chefs. The pub itself was practically empty and, apart from the one fire did not, if I'm honest, particularly inspire me decor or ambience wise. Sorry, struggling to find a positive.

Becci, Simon and the team at The Red Lion did us proud. We booked a table for the family which was a total 18 people to celebrate my mother’s 90th birthday. The service and the food was excellent, nothing was too much trouble throughout the meal and after, when Simon bought in the cake made by the granddaughter, which topped off the whole occasion. Family members who had joined from afar commented how lovely the roast meals were especially the ultimate roast. We have always had a very warm welcome from Becci and Simon and look forward to eating at The Red Lion.

A colleague from overseas and his wife were staying here on a few-days visit to UK. My wife and I joined them for dinner - and wow, we were so glad we did. The welcome from the staff, from the moment we walked in and throughout the evening was nothing short of wonderful. Friendly, professional and fun where appropriate. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent -- I would particularly recommend the Pigeon which I had as a starter - would have had it as main course if it had been an option. I suspect that if I'd asked, they would have accommodated that too - but there was plenty to choose from. All 4 of us enjoyed a great meal in a lovely space with a great view of the floodlit church in the grounds. Not cheap, but worth every penny - cannot recommend it highly enough and my wife and I are already planning to return soon.
