A lovely old building with exposed wooden beams and flag stone floors. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. If you are in the area do visit The Bell Inn , you will not be disappointed, the food is excellent and drinks choices are wide and varied, this is one of the best pub / restaurants we have had the pleasure of visiting. Unfortunately I only took pictures of our starters , I was enjoying it so much I forgot to take any more . We will be returning at some point and more pictures will be posted .

My meal was bland, although my friends enjoyed theirs. But the biggest issue was the service. Rude and incredibly slow. I went to the bar to order some more drinks (because nobody had come to serve us) and overheard two of the staff loudly complaining about me daring to come up and ask for more drinks. For the rest of the evening our table was ignored. Terrible, terrible service. Will not come back again.

Bland food, but the biggest issue was the service. Slow doesn't even begin to describe it. We were ignored the whole evening, having to try and attract attention from staff for anything (even the bill). But the biggest issue was when I went to the bar to order more drinks (because nobody had come to ask if we wanted more) I overheard two of the staff loudly moaning about me daring to come to the bar. Obnoxiously rude and completely unacceptable. Will never be coming back

We had a beautiful meal here celebrating my dad’s 80th. He said it was the best sticky toffee pudding he’d ever had!! The 2 pints of purity real ale went a treat too. Sadly our car broke down and we returned the next morning for recovery. Tony the owner looked after us with use of the facilities and a welcome cup of tea. Nice to see hospitality at its best. We would 100% return. Thank you so much!

We booked late and hence were not able to have our table until 1515 on a Sunday afternoon. We received a warm welcome and were seated shortly after arriving. There was a wonderful vibe to the place and all the staff were friendly, attentive without loitering and very efficient. The food was of an excellent standard, black pudding scotch eggs to die for, home made faggots and peas - gorgeous. My wife really enjoyed her seafood salad. Our other family members all enjoyed their meals and have said they will return when next in the area.

Lovely Sunday roast, with vegetables cooked perfectly (not too soft, not too crunchy). We booked a table inside, which is only a tad dark, but an older building so to be expected. However, as weather was nice, we were offered an outside table. The staff were very busy but friendly and professional. Food well priced and quality perfect. First time here, but definately a go-to for the future

I am a wheelchair user. We intended to have lunch at the pub to check out accessibility. The pub has a very good reputation for food and drink. However , accessibility is abysmal! The pub is side on to the road and there is front and rear access. The front door is narrow with a high step, just about wheelchair possible, but an inner, outward-opening, lobby door reduces the width, preventing any wheelchair access. The rear door is via the garden, off the large car park. The rear entrance is wide enough for a wheelchair, taking you past a gents toilet and a ladies toilet, both with one step up and narrow doors. No accessible toilet. You enter the pub to be confronted by one step down to a lobby area, then one step up to the main eating area. A total block to a wheelchair! The garden has a timber circular seating shelter, near the back door - not accessible. A steep windy path leads into the back garden. Not inviting if in a wheelchair. 3 disabled parking spaces are located by the rear garden entrance. However they are normal sized spaces so not suitable for wheelchair users! There is a 4th, unsigned , space next to the other 3, and if the whole block was 3 disabled spaces only they would be much more usable. However, that would be pointless as the pub is wheelchair inaccessible anyway, whether going in the front or back!

We were looking for somewhere to have lunch on a trip and saw The Bell Inn. The exterior was inviting and very well kept with a large car park. Inside we found a characterful and busy bar/restaurant and extremely friendly staff. We hadn't booked as just stumbeled upon it, but were made very welcome and offered a table for two in spite of there obviously being many other diners who had booked. The menue was extensive and offered a wide and varied choice. Table service was great,..... even for drinks, and food arrived promptly. Good portions and very well presented. Great quality ingredients and flavour. The staff were attentive, friendly and genuinely cared that we were enjoying our meal. The staff and experience could not have been better and made our first visit so pleasant. We thoroughly recommend The Bell Inn and thank them for their warm , friendly and efficient service. We will certainly be back and suggest anyone looking for a great pub that serves great food to give it a try !

Amazing food!! Freshly made and the service was great. We ordered starters and they arrived pretty much instantly. Burgers were amazing. You can tell a lot of care went into making the food. I wasn't planning to write a review as I wanted to keep this one to myself (it's too good to share) but when booking for the 7th time in the last 2 months I noticed a few 1 star reviews which frankly amazed me. First time I went was when England played their penultimate game in Euros - my wife and I were the only ones in the pub - so service was obviously as good as it could possibly be. We still made it back in time to watch the game. Our subsequent visits have been to a much busier pub and my experience of The Bell couldn't be improved on - that's echoed by all who've been with me to eat there - friends and family alike. The staff are all really friendly with us, helpful and attentive. I think it's reasonable to wait 5 mins or so for your drink order etc to be taken (someone moaned about that in a review) - this gives you time to settle in etc. and look at the menu (or talk to each other if you enjoy the company you keep?) I haven't waited longer than that at this pub. The food I've had at The Bell has been nothing short of fabulous - every time - hence I've been re-booking - so far 7 meals and all brilliant! Just a few days prior our most recent visit (yesterday) we had Sunday Lunch at The Blue Boar in Westminster (no complaints there and they score pretty high in reviews too) and we both scored The Bell ahead and it comes in at a very small fraction of the cost of the Boar too! I can say in all honesty this is my new favourite pub to eat out ...by miles.

Lovely pub, with a beautiful beer garden. Friendly, pleasant staff, & a decent menu. We had mozzarella sticks with garlic mayo which was lovely, then roast beef, unfortunately it was a little gristly, and the vegetables were undercooked. The roast potatoes were lovely, as was the parsnip unfortunately there wasn't much of it. It came with a very small bowl of mashed sweet potato and a jug of gravy. I would come again but I wouldn't order the beef.

I visited for a Sunday lunch with my family. We had a dog and a baby with us. We were allocated a nice table, but the space for the dog and high chair was a little squashed in bedside the neighbouring table. The waitress was incredibly helpful in preparing some baby food for me. She was also quick to take our drink and food order. Unfortunately we experienced a very long wait for our food. After one hour of waiting, it was difficult to enjoy the meal as my child was ready to leave! Because of this, our drinks were removed from our bill. This was a kind gesture. The food could have been better. It was acceptable, but the presentation was very standard, and the beef on the roast was overcooked.

Yorkshires to die for ;0) plate came with roasted parsnips and roast potatoes and then separate bowl of greens (vibrant in colour and cooked to perfection) small bowl of swede mash and then we ordered as extra cauliflower cheese which was superb. Personally a little crunch to the roast potatoes would have given that extra star, but that's me being extra picky. We will be returning.....soon!

However, I was really disappointed with how we were spoken to and treated. Appreciate not everything can be accommodated but there is a tone with which you can speak to people. And we were spoken to like something you’d find on the bottom of your shoe. They were very polite to the people on the next table to us, though. Food hot and served on hot plates, vegetables came in separate bowls and again served hot, great as we were a party of 16. We had slight issue with the lamb chosen by 4 friends being inedible as it was tough and instead of returning at the time they just left it, fair play to the manager dealt with it quickly and efficiently and agreed with chef it was indeed tough, they removed from the bill. The website promised a great experience catering well for all food types, including separate vegan and vegetarian menus. Whilst the atmosphere, pretty garden, clean and well managed Inn were very attractive and service was good, the food was very disappointing for all four of us. Everything was cooked through properly, the range of the menus tried to be adventurous but the reality was unskilled and boring. I had a vegan Thai curry, it is easy to make a good vegan curry, the sauce was reasonably tasty but it drowned a bed of spinach, red peppers, a mushroom and a token piece of broccoli. It was served with both rice and New potatoes! Very disappointing. The salmon in filo pastry was dry as was the vegan bean burger. The peppercorn sauce on the steak tasted like it wasn't home made. We appreciate all kinds of food, this was a pricey let-down. I tried leaving a review on their website but I didn't seem to be able to post it which makes me question the other reviews. Sorry owners, you have the makings of a fantastic business if you can get the food right.

MISOGYNISTIC through and through! 2 women in the pub for an afternoon wine. No one else at the bar but there was no one serving for ages. No problem. Then when the Scottish barman comes out and asks who's first, we say us ( since then 2 groups of men came in) , then he goes and serves both men before us! We're locals but won't be back again due to our treatment. I would have walked out had it not been for my friend who didn't want to cause a scene. Shame on them that they think it's ok to treat women like that!

It was a very disappointing experience- not a good prawn cocktail at all - about 4 large prawns -lettuce not shredded & a couple of tiny tomatoes The steak & ale pie was poor - more pastry than contents & the cabbage wasn’t finely cut - a few thick stalks

Excellent in every way we were a group of friends all with dogs it’s a very dog friendly hotel. Mazine was the duty manager that weekend he was brilliant always there and happy to go that extra mile for the group. Fabulous food, clean spacious rooms and the staff are very friendly. I would highly recommend the hotel it’s in a great position friendly great food. I can’t understand why anyone could write a bad review if you want 5 star go to the Hilton or the Savoy
