The Bell Inn in Stratford-on-Avon

Went for lunch it was awful, only ordered fish and chips - not a gourmet meal - the chips were the scrapings, the mushy peas were cold, the fish ok just! Best but was the wine!!

My wife and I had a great meal. The food was excellent quality, well cooked and generous portions. I had the steak pie and my wife had the chicken and we both followed it up with a glorious sticky toffee pudding. The staff were all very friendly and went about their business with a quiet efficiency. The owner was very personable and made us feel very welcome. If we lived in Welford on Avon we would be regular visitors without a doubt.

First time at The Bell Inn & certainly won’t be the last. The service was excellent & the 3 courses we had were amazing could not fault anything. Proper food with plenty of options for everyone.

Lovely pub quaint and quirky with plenty of atmosphere. The food was very good and was equally matched by the excellent friendly staff. Plenty of choice on the menu as well as having a gluten free menu. It is not cheap but we do not mind paying if we get good quality food which we did

Love The Bell, especially for their roasts. Their roast strip loin of beef is always so tender, as is their pork which is served with perfect crackling. Great service from very friendly owner and all staff in a pub with lots of character. Even better, it’s open all day on Sundays.

Fantastic place . Food excellent staff excellent, service Fantastic. What a lovely place to have a night out. Even in January the garden was so welcoming. Must go back to see garden in summer plus the Fantastic food 😋

Excellent food. Very obliging for dietary requirements. Friendly staff. Easy parking. Only negative, not warm unless near wood burner. Radiators were not on today nor before Christmas on our previous visit.

I love this place - its not failed us yet. Staff attentive, surroundings give you a little hug of cosiness! Food delicious. This time it was for a Sunday Roast both my husband I think its the best in this surrounding area! We found the choice of lamb and beef excellent and plentiful. Yorkshires to die for ;0) plate came with roasted parsnips and roast potatoes and then separate bowl of greens (vibrant in colour and cooked to perfection) small bowl of swede mash and then we ordered as extra cauliflower cheese which was superb. Personally a little crunch to the roast potatoes would have given that extra star, but that's me being extra picky. We will be returning.....soon!

Nice Sunday lunch, but felt overpriced, which isn't helped by small things like they were not happy to provide an extra spoon of apple sauce. Service not attentive and had to wait a long time in between seeing staff.

Delicious gluten free and dairy free meal tonight, the avocado fries were fabulous. I especially liked the dedicated menu and that staff understand (they are fab too!) Oh and they have sticky toffee pud too! Just watch out for the traffic diversion.

We had family over from Singapore and they had asked us to take them to a pub because they miss them so much. The Bell Inn delivered the full experience, great atmosphere, food and drink. The staff were delightful and we all had a lovely time. Only trouble is our family are now going to miss pubs even more!

Not really one for writing reviews but felt compelled to on this occasion. Moved back to the area after a number of years and the food was absolutely gorgeous, just as I remember. However, I was really disappointed with how we were spoken to and treated. Appreciate not everything can be accommodated but there is a tone with which you can speak to people. And we were spoken to like something you’d find on the bottom of your shoe. They were very polite to the people on the next table to us, though. I was so embarrassed as I had brought a friend along and insisted we go there. Don’t think I’ll be returning in a hurry to be treated like that again.

This is one of my favourite eating pubs. Been many times and I have never been disappointed. Fantastic food, lovely surroundings and brilliant staff. A must pub to visit.

Fabuloussssss,can't wait to go back

Firstly very nice staff and Christmas atmosphere lovely, really good selection of foods at variable prices. Food hot and served on hot plates, vegetables came in separate bowls and again served hot, great as we were a party of 16. We had slight issue with the lamb chosen by 4 friends being inedible as it was tough and instead of returning at the time they just left it, fair play to the manager dealt with it quickly and efficiently and agreed with chef it was indeed tough, they removed from the bill. All in all a really enjoyable evening was had by all and we will return. Merry Christmas 🎅 to you all and thank you very much for looking after us .

My husband and I had an amazing anniversary dinner there 1 month ago. I get cold so was seated right beside a lovely fireplace. I'm vegan and my husband has celiac. We both had amazing meals! Couldn't believe how well we were accommodated, both receiving our own menus to choose from. We are Canadians who were visiting family. Wish I could say we've had this experience many times here, but we haven't. Bravo to the Bell, my next Stratford upon Avon trip will definitely include a stop (or 2) at your lovely establishment.

We were visiting the area and went to The Bell based on the good reviews and the fact that they still served Sunday Roast in the evening. We were not disappointed! All of the staff that served us were very friendly. A good selection of dishes on the menu. My husband had the roast lamb and I had the garlic chicken. The food was absolutely delicious and plenty of it! We would highly recommend!

We have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. The food, service and atmosphere, all excellent.

My wife and I eat out a fair bit and are always keen to find somewhere new, particularly with good food. I discovered the The Bell Inn after a quick Google search for rated places to eat in Warwickshire. The food is excellent, very tasty, well cooked and nicely presented. The portion size is also just right, plenty on the plate and we were both full satisfied. The dining area was nice and cosy and despite being quite busy, our table was secluded enough to still be able to have a conversation. We live about 45 minutes away, but will definitely be returning as it’s now in our top 5 go eateries. The waiting staff were excellent too, friendly and attentive. Thoroughly recommend.

The website promised a great experience catering well for all food types, including separate vegan and vegetarian menus. Whilst the atmosphere, pretty garden, clean and well managed Inn were very attractive and service was good, the food was very disappointing for all four of us. Everything was cooked through properly, the range of the menus tried to be adventurous but the reality was unskilled and boring. I had a vegan Thai curry, it is easy to make a good vegan curry, the sauce was reasonably tasty but it drowned a bed of spinach, red peppers, a mushroom and a token piece of broccoli. It was served with both rice and New potatoes! Very disappointing. The salmon in filo pastry was dry as was the vegan bean burger. The peppercorn sauce on the steak tasted like it wasn't home made. We appreciate all kinds of food, this was a pricey let-down. I tried leaving a review on their website but I didn't seem to be able to post it which makes me question the other reviews. Sorry owners, you have the makings of a fantastic business if you can get the food right.

Catered for family funeral wake. 1stvtime been back to one of my haunts in my youth. Changed from village pub to eatery. Food was excellent. Staff were helpful and polite. Menu looked high standard food.

One of the better pubs for a Sunday roast. I was with family friends and we enjoyed it. The food was great and the atmosphere allowed us to have audible conversations without having to shout. I dont normally do traditional pubs but this one I will visit again.

Was there yesterday and paid £19.95 for a carvery. Well, very disappointing The beef was beautiful, but that was it. The roast potatoes only 3 of them, and Veg was aunt Bessie's very disappointing for nearly £20. For this kind of money, I would expect proper cooked roast potatoes and veg. I wouldn't mind so much if it would have been £12. The deserts wow was very nice but expensive all was £7.50-8.50 I had apple crumble was £8.50 was nice but not really worth £8.50. Should of been £5 Will stick to the BELL in Stratford-upon-Avon far, far better for £13 ish.

We went to The Bell in August and had a fabulous lunchtime sandwich, it was so good, I took friends. The fish finger sandwich, last time was in a fresh brioche bun, this time the roll was inedible, The fish fingers last time tasted homemade, this time bought in, very salty and again inedible. The chicken ceaser wrap was dry and tough. The soup was delicious, as was the pate. I was so disappointed and will not be visiting again. I would have discussed the problem with the staff team, but we didn't see anyone after we were served

The Inn is a beautifully located restaurant with a very nice interior. Unfortunately, we were seated in the "upscale" part of the Inn. Nevertheless, everything here is of a very high standard. The soup I had as a starter was outstanding. The goat cheese on salad and the homemade chips were good, but not particularly outstanding. We were served by five waiters, which was a little impersonal. However, all of them were extremely friendly and accommodating. All in all: a recommendation, but not a full one.

Called in as passing by, was just going to have a drink, but saw the food, and we had Sunday lunch, really decent portion, hot, tasty. Service very good. Sat in the garden...just bliss. Thank you ...Great little pub

Great pub in an amazing location

Great menu, the ploughman's lunch is amazing, well priced and very good service.

Visited yesterday after hearing good things about the food on offer. Unfortunately, when sat down at the table and provided a menu expressing interest in wanting to eat. The waitress proceeded to take the orders of the 4 tables that arrived after us. After 45 mins - hour sat with empty glasses (table service was provided outside for drinks) and no food order requested. We decided that clearly, our custom wasn’t a priority and stood up to leave. Only then, the waitress asked if we wanted food. We expressed our issues to the bar staff who didn’t seem to be too concerned of our experience. Really disappointing as we were both looking forward to the food but our entire experience and impression has been tarnished by the poor/lack of service we experienced.

Excellent sums up all aspects of this dining experience.

The Bell is a very appealing pub both inside and out. Despite it being a lovely sunny day we didn't sit in the garden but it looked lovely with proper seating and table service. The menu is extensive including a Sunday Specials option. My starter and my final course af a cheese board (the latter served correctly at room temperature!), were both tasty and well presented. The Sunday roast however was a little disappointing. The Yorkshire pudding was over done and too charred to eat, the beef was just ok, the gravy was on the cold side of acceptable and the veg was nondescript. However it's a lovely pub, with great service and I'm sure that we just chose wrongly and that other mains would be great.

I went with friends to celebrate my birthday. The food was very pricey, the service was good and the atmosphere was mediocre.

This pub serves great food with great service. Historic for sure! I was there with children a little early so atmosphere was quiet! But this place later in the evening must be a 5 star for sure!

After a day out in the Cotswolds decided to pop in for dinner, pre booked an hour before and glad we did as it was rather busy. The welcome was great and I wish the weather was on our side as the garden is beautiful. We sadly were seated near the kitchen door which led to a not so nice atmosphere with the door opening and closing. Service was swift and everyone was polite. The food was reasonably priced and all was great, the pie and chips had a massive pie and would easily be for 2. Would visit again, just seated somewhere else!

Beautiful old pub located in the stunning village of Belford is doing really great Sunday lunch. The options were excellent as was the quality of both the mains and dessert. The pricing is very reasonable as were the serving sizes. If this was closer to home it would be our regular! Definitely worth a visit!

Ate twice here while in Stratford for a mini break. Very accommodating both times. Would recommend, as the food was lovely and very well presented.

Pub was packed and would have had to wait 3 hours for food, so went elsewhere. It is extremely popular so good advice is to book long before you require a meal.

Lovely setting, plenty of space inside. Good selection of food prepared with separate veg. We were a large party of people,our order was complete without any mistakes and waiting staff were courteous

Lovely local pub with a relaxing atmosphere. Very good quality food for a reasonable price for the quality you get. The staff are very friendly and attentive. They have a lovely indoor seating arrangement as well as a modern beer garden. There is little room for Improvement and I hope it stays this way as it will continue to get my patronage.

Absolutely gem of a find. Perfect beer garden for lunch on a sunny day. The warm goats cheese salad was absolutely beautiful.

It used to be the place to go but the past 3 visits have been poor. Food slapped on the plate and starting to resemble wetherspoons grub. Staff were nice to a point and service was slow. Poor

I have visited The Bell many times with my earliest memory being from September 1999. Whilst there have been changes of personnel the quality has always remained 5*. So, well done to everyone concerned with achieving that.

Lovely family meal, best in the area, we were very lucky to find this hidden gem. Not only is the food fantastic, the pub is nestled in a lovely village with beautiful scenery. The pub itself is a very quaint country inn. The staff were welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. I wished we lived closer.

First visit, wow, amazing sintilising food with fabulous presentation....just called in service g the signage, so glad we did!

Service, 5 star, food 5 star staff friendliness, 5 star. My husband and I had a meal celebrating our anniversary, the staff brought a balloon to the table, that’s what we call above and beyond.

We used to go here a lot as we are local but this visit was poor. We had booked and then we were seated in a very small space, a small alcove which felt more like a cupboard ! Slow service and the food was very average and I struggled to find something to order. Very dissapointed and the bill was nearly £100 for 2 of us ! Won't be going g back .

Went here 2 consecutive nights with the hubby First night We had Guinness steak pie and hubby had gammon, we could not fault it Ambiance was not there the second night I don't know if it was because the owners were not there like the first night The second night hubby had fish and I had lasagne The hubby's fish was so greasy and his chips were mostly little crispy bits We could not believe the difference in two nights We loved this pub the first night though Very busy both nights

We was seated straight away and being 8:30pm this was great as other places had turned us away. Little disappointed with the menu as it seemed very basic. The food was freshly cooked which was great although the soup was far to hot and I was only able to eat half as others were waiting for mains and mine was still too hot. Gammon and chips were pretty standard, pineapple slice was about 2mm thick so not great.
