Newly decorated and carpeted, but with an assortment of old, and broken, furniture. Friday evening and the pub was almost empty, although there were a few people in the garden. Menu is uninspiring - fish and chips, ham egg and chips, fish fingers and chips, Mac and cheese and chips. . . . We ordered fish, chips and peas and ham eggs and chips. The chips were advertised as triple cooked - they weren’t, not even once - uncooked in the middle. Shrivelled peas which were luke warm with a strange mix of unadvertised mint and was it pea shoots? Fish was uninspiring. Ham, now here is the faux pas, was two slices of packet breaded ham which had not even been separated with a slice of griddled toast and a large pickled onion!!!! If you are going to do food, please make an effort! And for the record, the salt cellar had no salt, I was given a napkin with only a knife wrapped in it and the two staff that dealt with us, had no idea what the internet password was. Drive past!

Dropped in having seen the £10 Sunday roast offer online and found the pub surprisingly quiet, why is it not heaving at this price? The offer was on beef, turkey or gammon and came with parsnips, carrots, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, peas, cabbage, brocolli, a large Yorkshire Pudding and plenty of gravy. The beef consisted of one slice of beef but perfectly cooked and like the rest of the meal very tasty. All freshly cooked but with only a couple of other tables occupied we found the wait quite excessive. Good local ales, brewed on site. Would we return, of course what is not to like about the quality, the value and the friendly staff.

Vine para una familia, almuerzo del domingo. Todos teníamos entrantes y postres - todo por 32 libras! La comida estaba caliente, bien cocinada y muy bien condimentada. Todo el personal era amable y accesible. Definitivamente volveré de nuevo.

We turned up on a Sunday without booking. This wasn’t a problem and were sat at a table straight away. We both ordered a beef dinner with a side of cauliflower cheese. The beef was cooked to perfection and there was a generous amount of roasties and vegetables. We thought the price was very reasonable £51 for 2 drinks and a dinner each and one side. Will most definitely be returning and will recommend to others too.

Just returned from Easter Sunday lunch and so impressed i felt i had to leave them a review. Food was great, service was great and the main man (i assume the gaffer) was super friendly and welcoming. It's also a community owned pub, so great to see the model working so well. Absolutely fantastic, so if you are passing don't miss it.

Just down from the Abbey the cafe is a great place to recharge the batteries or just chill for a while. Excellent coffee plus a good range of cakes and other nibbles. Throw in good service and some outside space and you are onto a winner.
