Lovely location and building but undertrained waiting staff. They looked very miserable and not a smile anywhere . Food was very nice.

Wonderful stay in this glorious place. Huge bedroom with everything we could need. The magnificent roll top bath was as comfortable as it was impressive, superb bedroom feature and there was still a spacious ensuite with double sinks and a big shower- really beautiful products provided too. The bed was massive and ridiculously comfortable, almost too good to get out of and make tea- fresh milk provided in a mini fridge. Breakfast was very good, with the best smoked salmon I've ever had. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, they were highly professional, but warm, attentive and friendly with it. Thank you Abbie, Maisie and Doug and the others, whose names I didn't get. We'll be back!

This place has really done downhill. We went for lunch and I was shocked when the sandwich arrived and it was clearly hovis basic bread. I have had way better sandwiches from meal deals in supermarkets. The coffee was also very poor. No one asked how our meal was and we couldn’t have gotten out of there fast enough. The room is stunning, however we were sat next to a broken window and were freezing.

We had two nights at this lovely boutique hotel for a family gathering of 8 people in January. All the staff were extremely welcoming and we were given our own private area for dinner on the Friday evening, which was perfect. Breakfast was a relaxed affair and both mornings our table was laid out differently so we could enjoy this beautiful former house. Would really recommend Verzon House - thanks to the kind, thoughtful staff who looked after us.

What a great idea to drop in for a breakfast reunion! We always enjoy our lunchtime visits, so this was something different. My friend and I were both delighted with our breakfast choices, which were equally excellent, thanks to high-quality local produce and skilful work in the kitchen: beautiful smoked salmon and scrambled eggs; bacon, sausage, black pudding, field mushrooms and scrambled eggs - all locally produced. The warm welcome on arrival was much appreciated, and the service was charming and efficient, as always. Particular thanks go to Abby and Maisie.

Afternoon tea. Style over substance. Arrived on a miniature wooden picnic table. Plates are surely far more hygienic and take up less room on the table. Arrived with a sandwich filling we had requested beforehand wasn't included. This was changed when we pointed this out. Postage sized sandwiches, rock hard and inedible chocolate brownies, overbaked shortbread, nice lemon drizzle and the star of the show was the Scotch egg (half) which was delicious. We had also ordered a sandwich with a side order of fries. It arrived with crisps instead and we had to reorder the fries. To be fair we weren't charged for these. A very disappointing afternoon tea which was booked for a special occasion. Overpriced and overly fussy display. Definitely style over substance. Will not be returning and would never recommend

The rooms were amazing my room was 3 and my friend the green room on the second floor. The room was supplied with bottled water in the fridge and illy coffee sachets which was nice plus all the usual tea and biscuuits the bathroom was really nice and the sofa so comfy. The mattress was really good and I caught up on much needed sleep. The staff here from the Gm to the reception, bar and restaurant team were all young but extremely professional. We ate in the bar on the first night due to an event going on, the food was really good and the steak really good. On the second night we ate in the restaurant which was really nice and the food even better than the night before. What an amazing place which we will definitely return again too. We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Verzon House. We were attending a family birthday in the evening at the hotel. Our room was warm, welcoming, cozy and clean, with amazing views from double aspect windows. The staff were so lovely and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The evening celebration was very enjoyable with lovely food and attentive staff. In the morning we had a full english breakfast which was so well cooked and with local produce, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you and we will be back.

Beautiful setting with ample parking space. Friendly and welcoming staff. Have visited many times previously and it’s a preferred destination to entertain visiting friends and family as the meals are a feast for the eyes as well as delicious and have not disappointed. Service is prompt and all in a beautifully furnished and very comfortable dining rooms. Love the options on the menu from light to a filling meal for those who wished it. This was our first visit to The Verzon House Hotel, we went there for lunch. The hotel is set in lovely surroundings and, on arrival, we were welcomed by a roaring log fire. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. Being vegetarians we are often disappointed when eating out, but we were very impressed by the quality of the food. Service was very prompt. We will definitely eat here again.

Verzon House is a high class dining establishment which is quite expensive. We had a reasonable meal until the desserts arrived. The so called Amaretto Sundae was only whipped and flavoured double cream with a few biscuits crushed over the top served in glass mug. It was so indigestible we both felt quite poorly afterwards. There was no skill in making this particular dessert and was unacceptable in such an establishment. We were so disappointed that they even added a service charge which we asked to be removed. The atmosphere changed immediately sadly which made us feel very uncomfortable. It is most regrettable that the owners don’t bother to reply to reviews especially when customers take the time to write a review. We are not planning to return.

We had our wedding here in September and the whole experience was absolutely top notch. We started planning in January with the charming and capable Maisie. As the venue is licensed for marriages we were able to have the ceremony on site. The day was wonderful, the staff are a massive asset to this family run business- special shout out to Maisie and Doug. Doug was there (it seemed) for the whole 24 hours we were there! He works so hard and has amazing customer service skills. All of the team were lovely, I am sorry I don't have any other names. After the ceremony we enjoyed canapes and Champagne on the covered terrace. The food for lunch was absolutely delicious- all our guests were incredibly impressed. Service for 22 guests was fast and all the food was hot and beautifully presented. We paid (very reasonable) corkage to bring our own wine as my son in law is a wine merchant but, the wines on the menu are also very nice. The venue team liaised with the florist and cake maker and made the whole thing stress free. After a sumptuous lunch, those of us staying the night enjoyed an enjoyable supper of sharing platters and cheese. We booked rooms which were absolutely lovely and very spacious. The breakfast is fantastic with a wide choice of classic dishes made with fresh and local ingredients. All in all, I cannot recommend Verzon House highly enough we had a wonderful and memorable day- THANK YOU ALL

Venison dish was so small. 3 small slices of meat, 3 tiny carrots, 2 sprigs broccoli, a spoonful of mash. We honestly thought they would be bringing extra veg out. Not worth £25 I'm afraid. Very dissapointed in this dish for sizing. Other items in the menu were much bigger for our other friends. Can't say how much of a dissapointment this was and had to try and laugh about it to avoid embarrassment as we took friends out for a birthday meal. We spent £230 there on food and drink, £75 of that was on venison!

We visited on the first weekend we were allowed to eat inside for my daughters 30th birthday. The first thing that strikes you about Verzon is how lovely the staff are. I visited in the afternoon to drop off a cake and balloons and they could not have been more accommodating. The meal its self was delicious. When eating out there is often a tension between myself (small appetite) and my partner (hearty appetite!) but not so at Verzon as there are hearty meals and small plates. The chaps had the sliders for a starter, I cant wait to come back and have these for lunch. My daughter and I had the trout starter- all well seasoned and delicious. Three of us opted for the Chicken Kiev, a new and very welcome addition to the menu. It was moist and beautifully flavoured with wild garlic, the Jersey Royals and pea fricasse were a delightful accompaniment. My partner had the Haddock and Chips and was so pleased to see a curry sauce on the side! The wine list is short and to the point we had a selection including Champagne, red and rose!This is a local enterprise in all senses of the word - mention should be made of the fact that, despite the very upmarket atmosphere, the prices are very reasonable for such a high standard of local produce, lovely surroundings and friendly, knowledgeable service.

Food great but they run out of things on the menu fairly quickly. Restaurant is too cold and the bar even colder! Light some fires or get a log burner! Not very conducive to staying around when it’s impossible to feel warm and cosy! Service great though and they do make you feel welcome. Wouldn’t take a lot to make it fantastic.

We had a superb lunch served by charming knowledgeable staff who made the whole meal a delight. We started off by sharing pigs in blankets - three little chaps that went down a treat, this was followed by mulled cod for myself, an interesting combination of textures and flavours, hubby had the chicken and ham hock that he said was first class. Moving on to our main courses, chef here was on top form presenting loin of beef on a truffle mash that was simply divine and pork belly that was perfect, moist without being fatty and full of flavour. The portions are well judged but puds would have been just too much for us.

Stayed two nights and included the Chase Distillery tour. Could not fault anything - food exceptional, drinks wonderful and the Chase trip was so well put together, especially given Covid-19 restrictions. The staff at the hotel were fantastic. Friendly, helpful and a credit to the hotel.

Perfect setting for a romantic getaway.Lovely little bar with some unique drinks.Food in restaurant is 10/10 very well presented and great taste.Rooms great size, in room en-suite think about moving toilet to wardrobe space, marks on wall/carpet, 7/10 not bad.Take a tour to the distillery 15 min away, amazing only £20 each including transport and tour 10/10.Spend some time and effort on rooms and this will achieve an easy 10/10 every time trust me.

Stayed one night with a tour of the Chase Distillery.From the minute we walked thru the door the level of service was excellent. Everyone was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble.The room was very nice and exceptionally clean. Only criticism was the toilet area which would be better with a door.the evening meal was amazing as was the breakfast, how could a Full English be so good!Hopefully will go back soon.

We stayed at Verzon House on a Chase Experience package. We started our trip with a tour of the Chase Distillery which was really good, the tour guide Calvin was really knowledgeable and friendly. We then had cocktails in the bar at the hotel and the service and surroundings were excellent. We were lucky enough to have the bridal suite which is an amazing room. There is a bath tub overlooking the Malvern Hills which was spectacular even though it was a rainy day. The dinner was a delight, three courses of top quality food and again the staff were great. The hotel has made a lot of effort to ensure Covid compliance, it was the best approach I’ve seen. I couldn’t rate this hotel highly enough, we will definitely return.

We were among the first to visit the restaurant after they reopened. We were very very impressed at the social distancing - the best we have come across. All staff were wearing masks, and there were small side tables where food was placed. The food, as in the past, is outstanding. We really can’t praise the welcoming staff and fabulous food too highly . We highly recommend a visit and we will certainly return.

I booked a table for lunch online at 9am for lunch the same day. We arrived, I was on crutches as I have recently had a hip replacement. I waited for a while at the reception and when I explained we had booked for lunch they were not aware of the booking. They were apologetic but it wasn’t a great start We were invited to go to the bar for a drink which we did and chose our food. I had booked for a table in the bar as the restaurant has no ambiance when it is quiet. It took quite a while for the food to be prepared and we were then offered to either share a table in the bar or go into the empty restaurant.. we chose the latter, though it was cold in there. The food was good when it arrived though I felt it was pricey for the amount and quality

Went with a friend today to meet her brother at the Verzon. We'll we had a wonderful lunch. The chef told us about the fresh bream and haddock, so 2 of us had haddock and 1 bream, the fish was so fresh and cooked perfectly. Staff were all so friendly and helpful. I will definitely return, this is not my first visit and definitely won't be my last.Thanks for a lovely lunch

Another superb meal at Verzon. For the first time that we have been there, salmon was on the menu as a main course. It was probably the best salmon I’ve ever had. Beautifully cooked and so well presented. As usual also a fantastic wine list.

This involved taxi drop off and collection from the hotel - given alcohol available on the tour, this is a must.Service was friendly and Food was delicious, particularly breakfast. The stand out feature however, was the fantastic cocktails. There’s a great range, all featuring the Chase brand products and these are very well presented. For the money spent - £260 for the package, for the wife's Birthday. Room Ok better bed and pillows required for Gold standard dressing gowns and a nice modern bathroom .The dining room some spectacular lighting. Stuffed animals reflect the history of the building and area. The food was clearly of high quality but the portion sizes could be larger.Breakfast was served in the dining area. There’s a good selection to help yourself to - artisan breads, fresh fruit, cereals Full English was great, but again on the small side.

It all lacked a little attention to detail and cleanliness.The dining area is gothic in design with some spectacular lighting. Stuffed animals fill the walls, which perhaps isn’t to everyone’s taste but did reflect the history of the building and area. The ‘Love Actually’ soundtrack was on endless repeat, meaning over 90 minutes we got to listen to ‘Ain’t no sunshine’ an impressive 8 times. The food was clearly of high quality but the portion sizes were erratic. My wife’s steak, served with chips and a mushroom was as you would expect; my butternut squash lasagne was literally four mouthfuls. No warning on the menu about this and no advertised sides. Breakfast was served in the bar area. There’s a good selection to help yourself to - artisan breads, fresh fruit, cereals and Willy’s range of cider vinegar based drinks, linked to the Chase brand. Full English was great, but again in the small side.

A sunny Saturday, so a quick trip to Ledbury, a look at the shops and then off to Verzon House Hotel for Afternoon Tea.The venue is very pleasant, lovely views over the hils and a balcony with tables, to enjoy the experience.We were early by 30 minutes, we had booked, but a soft drink was suggested - my wife decided on a G&T with Chase gin - while we reviewed the Tea Menu.The selection of sandwishes - three types (Smoked Salmon, Cucumber and Egg & Cress) were fresh and well presented. This was followed a selection on cakes and patisserie - scones with clotted cream and strawbery jam (Excellent), a lemon Curd filled choux bun with meringe, an opera ( a bit soft for a hot sunny day and a strawberry tart. All very good and well presented.Including the drinks, the Afternoon Tea came to nearly £50 - a bit expensive but a special occasion and venue. Value for money - difficult to balance quality and quantity, but the receptionist was very efficinet, friendly and helpful.

Arrived at this grand looking building, set in grounds with views over rural Herefordshire. Plenty of parking outside and seating spaced out thoughtfully. Felt quite dark inside, perhaps not helped by the dark blue paintwork. Plush fixtures and fittings and friendly and polite staff. Food was pretty good and there was a decent selection to drink (slight bias to Chase of course). Expect to pay top prices here, around £50 a head for 3 courses with drinks.

My ‘kids’ bought me a bottle of Chase vodka (my favourite) for Fathers Day and with it came a complimentary tour of the distillery. As it was a good 3.5hr drive, we booked into Verzon House in order to enjoy a cocktail or two.....What a lovely place!!!!!Barman is quite the genius when it comes to cocktails with a twist, so food and drinks were simply great. Turbot was cooked perfectly and fish and chips was rated “second best I’ve ever had” by the fussiest eater in the world. Breakfast too was very tasty but coffee was unfortunately a bit dire(!!!)Room was large and characterful, perfectly clean and with a massive mega-comfy bed.If we would ever be in the area again, we would stay for sure, and would highly recommend the distillery tour, a few cocktails, dinner and a stay at the Verzon.

Booked a meal here on 15 August after reading their reviews and the fact they claim to cater for vegetarians. Sadly on arrival we found only one choice for vegetarians on the main course, even the fish choice had meat on it and none on the dessert menu.

Nineteen of us met up for a delicious afternoon tea at Verzon House as a mid-way point between Worcestershire and Cardiff. A great selection of sandwiches, scones & cakes as well as Vegan options for 3 family members. We thoroughly enjoyed our tea and then sat in the garden for bar drinks. Thank you for your help organising it Chloe ( I realise it was August 2018 - but I'm just about to organise another and wanted to leave a review). We hope to be back soon!

Yesterday we had a wonderful lunch at this stylish restaurant. It was hard to tear ourselves away from the stunning dining room, but we sat outside on a sunny day overlooking the Malverns, eating gorgeous food. What could be better. We went for the prix fixe three course lunch at £19.95, and it was worth every penny. I had white middle pork, my husband lemon sole. First impression was 'small portion, stylish but a bit nouveau' - and I was wrong. It was surprisingly filling! Perfectly cooked, melt in the mouth. We both started with ham hock terrine with home made piccalilli. Not a generous portion of piccalilli, small piece of terrine, but fine for a starter. I then had pork and my husband lemon sole. Both looked and tasted gorgeous. Puddings were eton mess (one gripe, I hate those little pre made meringues and it was too small a portion) and an apple mousse. Both delicious. House wine, red, very good. A memorable lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely staff, fabulous food, gorgeous location. We will be returning.

Afternoon tea - outstanding, clearly they have an exceptional patisserie chef. Sat on the terrace overlooking the lawn. Were made to feel very welcome, and relaxed.

Today we had a great lunch in the restaurant at the Verzon Hotel. We prefer the restaurant to the bar as it is more elegant, lighter and quieter, although the bar is cosy. The staff at the Verzon are really friendly and welcoming.

This is a lovely hotel venue with a cosy, modern and slightly 'hip' feel!

When you want something special then book this place, just a warm comfortable atmosphere and the home of Chase wine, but really good food and a country feel Highly recommend

Booked as a birthday present. Very friendly and helpful staff, bar and restaurant menus were excellent, and rooms were luxurious. Faultless really. The rooms are even dog friendly for an extra £10. If you get the chance, book onto the Chase gin distillery tour - it's excellent.

We visited on a lovely sunny Friday lunch, and had the Prix Fixe 3 course lunch at £19.95. It was excellent value and superb quality with great service and tasty cocktails.

We came here for a meal a few years ago and were very disappointed. However, we had recently read positive reviews and were looking for a new venue so decided to give it a go again.

We booked a table for lunch for 4 of us last Monday. It was naturally very quiet, as it was a Monday.

We stayed overnight as we were going to the Chase Distillery for a tour and so took advantage of the minibus transfer between the two locations.

Two of us went to stay a night with dinner, bed and breakfast. We were very pleased with the experience. Our room was tastefully furnished with an interesting bathroom. Food and drinks in the bar and restaurant were excellent, top quality ingredients much of them locally sourced and well executed. And portion sizes were good too..

My lovely friends booked an afternoon tea here for my baby shower. The decor, service and food were all very impressive. Relaxed atmosphere. Would recommend a visit.

Booked weekday lunch with friends . Apart from a couple of other people we were the only ones there and the only ones to eat in the dining room . We had soup but no bread served with it and a very small serving. Some had steak which was not the best. The dessert of churros was lovely but small portions. Nobody asked if we would like coffee so we took it upon ourselves to go back to the bar and order coffees. The bar and restaurant are beautifully decorated and the staff were very polite but we almost felt we were an inconvenience rather than paying guests . Such a shame ....

Very young staff = which can great but when they have only basic service skills, this exacerbates the problems..

The hotel is very nice indeed although you need to know up front that you pay for the experience. we went as a foursome and had an awesome time. The bar lounge has a really nice feel to it and all the staff were superb. we did the Chase Gin distillery tour which is highly recommended and there is transport from the hotel for that. we did the cocktail making in the evening at the hotel- great fun but in my mind way over priced at 25 quid per person for 3 cocktails and 60 mins entertainment. The rooms are good and warm. food overall is pretty expensive from Sandwiches to dinner. If you want a very special occasion then the hotel delivers all round, but at a cost.

Arranged to meet here for a business lunch. On arrival I was welcomed by a young lady who was pleasant and knowing I had a lunch booking asked me would I like a tea or coffee whilst waiting for my colleagues. Later we were escorted to the restaurant. The lunch menu had ample choice of food and wine. My main was beer battered haddock which was tasty but

We popped into Verzon for a lunch date. This was a first visit for both of us.

We have visited here before and on that and this occasion we were not disappointed. The place is very warm and welcoming as are the staff. The sausage rolls we were given before our order was taken were to die for and lunch was outstanding!! We will definitely be back.

I had the fortune to visit Verizon House on two occasions last year . Once for a meal , and the second time - for an overnight stay . On both visits I was amazed and delighted at the quality of the food . The service was superb on both occasions and the staff went out of their way to make our stay an enjoyable one . Our room was wonderful , spotlessly clean , tastefully decorated and luxurious . The breakfast was wonderful .

Smells of hores and dead animals food was uneatable poor selection of drinks. Toilets were dirty mud all over them

Visited on Friday 1st February; this was my second visit and again not disappointed.

We visited here for a Wednesday lunch and the fixed price menu was fantastic value for the quality and presentation of the food. The experience was great and I will definitely be making another visit!

Arriving for a second sitting at 3.0pm. Christmas Day, it appeared a free for all, We located a member of staff,

So after watching the hunt in ledbury town we decided to go for a glass of red. My husband and I were feeling a little peckish and decided to ask for some olives or some sort of aperitif they didn't have anything of that nature despite being a top restaurant. perhaps a bread roll with our wine, something they do in France regularly. ... The lady went to the kitchen to ask however it appears that they didn't have any bread either. ...

Had a lovely New Years Day lunch. The staff were happy to oblige with the 3 course Christmas Party meal and any other requests we made were not a problem.

We stayed for one night after a tour of the Chase Distillery which is connected in some way to the hotel. Our bedroom was very special and the food superb.

We thought the dining room was very cosy and we had a good seat next to the fire. The service throughout was attentive and it was very sweet when one of the waitresses brought out two glasses of Prosecco to celebrate our anniversary and decorated our dessert plates with "Happy anniversary".

Very good value. Delicious beef. Service is friendly but erratic. We were a table of six and it took a very long time for all the elements to arrive.

As always perfect, we love this place I wish we lived closer.
