The food here is really very good indeed, and there is enough of it so that you have an excellent and filling meal. It is not especially cheap, but good value for what you get. Other tables were filled with parents and well-behaved children, and parts of the floor with well-behaved dogs. On the whole it was an extremely pleasant dining experience. It would be churlish to remove a star for the absence of any menu on the website...

I am a big foodie I enjoy my food so when you get a great meal at an unexpected venue its a lovely surprise. We were taking my Mother out to lunch for Christmas and the Maidenhead is local to her home. I ordered the chicken breast with wild mushrooms and wow what a great meal! Roasted veg lots of chicken and the dark jus absolutely finished it all off. My wife had the Stilton and Mushroom Wellington and Mum had the cod and chips which all looked great as well. Sadly I didn't get any photo's as I was too busy devouring the meal !

Stopped at the Maidenhead for lunch after a lovely countryside walk. Food was fantastic - soup was delicious and served with a wedge of focaccia. Tasty mains and puds to die for! Washed down with a couple of pints and definitely ready for the long walk ‘home’ again to our little cottage in the woods! Definitely recommend the Maidenhead.

Warm welcome, good beer. Nice atmosphere… but Food average. My 14 year old son ordered a chicken pie. This arrived 15 mins after the the other 4 in our parties food. The chicken pie was still frozen in the middle. For me serving frozen chicken to anyone is a no no and represents a food safety issue. Having asked to speak to the owner directly to address this and to be fair he came to discuss my complaint but the way he spoke to me as a customer was far from satisfactory. They waived the charge of the pie but for me this fell some way short of addressing the real concerns around food safety. The discussion soon became heated and hostile and we left very disappointed.

We stopped off for our tea after a day out sight seeing. We pass this pub on the way back to the cottage we've rented for a holiday. We were welcomed as if we were locals, always a nice touch. We had drinks in the bar area and then were shown into the dining room, which was beautifully set up with candles and mini vases of wild flowers and herbs. We had a trio of goodies from the Maiden Mix and a portion of the messy fries. All delicious. The coffee creme brulee with home made shortbread was fab, as was my husband's peach and vanilla cheesecake. All of the staff were cheery, helpful and efficient. Thanks for a lovely meal, and a great end to our day out.

We visited here to be our family vacation. The weather was hot and the pub was full of life. We booked a table in advance for the beer garden as the weather forecast to be warm and we had our dog with us. Table was lovely in the shade and the garden was well tended with bright flowers. Food was just pub food, nothing fancy and wouldn’t have wanted to pay anymore. The staff were friendly.

Truly awful. Starter of ‘garlic’ mushrooms on dry toast was surpassed by a dry chicken burger with four chips. You have to be congratulated on the worse puddings to be served anywhere in the locality. Just a pity the prices don’t match the low quality of food.

Nicely decorated, looked recently refurbished pub with some unique local antique items displayed around the pub and restaurant. We ate in the restaurant area and there was a good menu choice with dishes to suit all tastes. Between the 3 of us we enjoyed the chicken skewers, gammon steak and fish and chips. For dessert I particularly enjoyed the gingerbread ice cream. My husband said that it was the best pint of Hobson's Best he has had in the area. Friendly service from everyone and lots of parking Would definitely return.

My husband and I met some friends here for lunch, a place found purely by chance. What a wonderful place. The sun had decided to come out, making it too hot to leave our large black dog in the car. He was welcomed inside (to a designated area) and given a bowl of water and some treats. Being a young dog he tended to spread himself out a bit, but the staff didn't mind, and carefully walked round him! The food was amazing. A goats cheese salad starter was made into a main meal with no qualms, and changing mash and bread to chips was no hassle either. The beef bourguignon was really tasty, the fish and chips were enormous, and the puddings really good too! 10/10 thank you!

The Maidenhead is definitely worth a visit. The new owners are warm and friendly and very welcoming. Went there with my elderly parents and we all had a sandwich. Price wise it's not cheap but personally I am more than happy to pay a bit extra for an excellent lunch. The chips were divine, dad had the beef sandwich, mum and hubby had the sausage sandwich, sausages were local and very tasty, I had the ceaser salad which had a very generous portion of chicken. We ate outside in a gazebo and we all throughly enjoyed our lunch. So much so we will be going back next week to celebrate my dad's 92nd birthday. Thank you both so much, lunch was superb.

Disappointing visit, we have never visited here before and unfortunately I do not think we will be back, we pass this place on our way to visit friends in Kingsland and thought we would treat them to some supper one evening - as neither drive these days and we thought it would be a nice treat for them. We had not booked and we dropped in off the off chance of a table and we were made to feel really uncomfortable for not booking in advance (by the owner?) The pub was not that busy with only a few tables being taken, we ordered our food enjoyed a glass of wine (which was the best part of the visit) and waited and waited! nearly an hour went past and the waitresses looking like they were there for a social catch up (and it was apparent that the waitress did not get on with the owner behind the bar, this made for a negative atmosphere) made no attempt to keep us updated or even offer to get us some more drinks from the bar - when the food did arrive it was good and obviously freshly prepared but just too long a wait and service was very poor - maybe it was just an off day but the whole experience from poor service and a very long wait will stop us visiting again.

This place in rural Herefordshire is of exceptional presentation. It has had much investment and the establishment is nice where ever you look from bar, toilets and surrounding beer garden which is capable of a wedding venue or beer and music festival. The bar is very stocked with real ales (many local ales from Hobsons, Ludlow brewery, Clun brewery etc) some great Italian and English lagers and ciders of various sweetness. The beauty of this place is it is packed with local people who chose to meet and discuss their individual situations. The food is fantastic and all cooked fresh - this takes more time so if you want fast food this isn’t the place for you. Similar to the Italian slow food movement you have to wait for delightful things. Strongly recommend the pate.

The Bakers Arms is outside the centre of Orleton, on the B road from Ludlow to Leominster/Mortimer's Cross. It has plenty of parking. On the Thursday evening we visited, it was very quiet with only one other table occupied. The menu offered plenty of choice and there was also a specials board with further starters and main courses. We both chose King Prawns in garlic sauce as a starter - very tasty with slabs of delicious nutty bread. For the main course my companion (a vegetarian) selected the Nut Roast, whilst I had the Lasagne, with more of the (home made?) bread and vegetables. All the food was nicely cooked and well presented and the house wine was of good quality. The service was friendly. With food so good, I can't understand why a Thursday night was so quiet.

I visited The Bakers Arms on a Friday evening for a beer. On arrival to be greeted by a barman (short middle-aged guy) - “greeted” used in the loosest of terms as there was no greeting, no hello or even a nod. On the plus there was a great selection of real ales which I begun to look over however this rude barman stood over me glaring at me whilst I would have liked a minute to make my choice this made me feel uncomfortable, so I just picked a beer. I ordered my beer with a please, he says nothing and walked off, returned with my pint, I give him the money, gave a thank you and am met with silence. I’m no stranger to a subdued reception coming from a busy city, pleases and thank can be few and far between especially in big bars, however this does not excuse general niceties. This barman’s behaviour with other customers wasn’t much better, but I have no idea why he was like this with me, I was not drunk, maybe he didn’t like my accent.

The four of us went for a Saturday evening meal. There was a nice atmosphere in the restaurant with an excellent choice of food from the menu. Two people chose the fish pie which was delicious. One had the rump steak which was cooked as ordered. I had the lasagne. Having eaten the same dish extensively in Italy I was worried what it would taste like in an English pub. I needn’t have been concerned. It was tasty and full of flavour. I could close my eyes and think I was eating in Rome! We enjoyed some wine with the meal and found the final bill very acceptable. Stopped here for lunch on our way to National Trust's Croft Castle. We arrived about 12.45pm at which point there was only one other table occupied. The menu was quite extensive with something to suit everyone. Our drinks were brought promptly by a smiling young waitress whilst we tried to choose what to have. My husband decided on the fish of the day from the specials board and I couldn't resist the sound of the fish pie. We didn't have to wait too long for our meal to arrive. My husband had a generous portion of smoked salmon which came with two or three different kinds of home baked rustic bread and pats of local butter. There was also a side salad plus three different dips. His verdict was "very good". My generous portion of fish pie was crammed with chunks of smoked fish, hake, salmon and king prawns. It was very moist and topped with a golden lid of creamy mash. There was also a salad garnish and some of the delicious rustic bread. We really enjoyed our choices. Despite the fact that we were already full our lovely smiling waitress tempted us to dessert by bringing the homemade pudding blackboard and we gave in to temptation. I had the banoffee sundae - this was easily 11 out of 10 as I love toffee and caramel dishes and my husband had his choice of mixed ice cream with a chocolate flake.

By far the finest ploughman’s lunch I have ever experienced; my pate ploughmans came not only with a generous slab of wonderful terrine, but two cheeses, three salad selections, more bread ( delish in its own right) than any middle aged guy should ever contemplate, and a selection of chutneys including a rather delightful if unexpected Indian flavored offering - Ludlow’s pubs left us unimpressed but the Bakers was an absolute triumph.

We visited the bakers arms on Saturday night had table booked for 730 when the waitress took our order for two fillet steaks we asked if any chance we could have onion rings of which we were told no sorry so then we asked any chance of some fried onions ? No sorry ok then bit strange to me it took 1 hour for our food to arrive which was very slow service the steak was gorgeous but would of been so much nicer with some onion be it fried or ring neither is much effort such a shame

Nice shaded beer garden and plenty of parking. Local beer plus choice of several gins, and water for our friends dog. Had the sharing surf and turf kebabs, our friend had the fish pie. All great. The accompanying bread basket was exceptional. Very friendly and efficient staff.

We booked for dinner but chose to sit outside with the dog as it was really hot and the pub was quite full.. The owners really do need to get some better outside seating for summer. Rickety old wooden picnic type tables were very uncomfortable. The beer garden had a slight feeling of neglect. The food was passable but not great. The service however was excellent. It was a bit of a disappointment to be honest as we had read other reviews and thought it would be great. We were on holiday at the time. We also thought it was quite a limited menu.

My wife and I have been here twice in the last 10 days - firstly in the 'Snug' with our little dog, Alfie, and the second time just the two of us in the Restaurant. We had the fish pie on both occasions - it was excellent - and a bottle of an excellent Sauvignon Blanc each time. The atmosphere is great. A typical village pub with many locals (mostly, but not entirely, blokes!) drinking real ale and chatting at the Bar. I love real ale and will indulge next time for sure. There is a superb outdoor garden/patio area. The girls serving food were completely charming and the Bar Manager was very customer friendly. I highly recommend the place if you like good old fashioned style English pubs.

Having been here before and had superb food, my mum and I decided to come for tea we both had fillet steak, both asked for garlic potatoes instead of chips. One steak came with garlic potatoes the other came with chips. When we’ve eaten here before we’ve always had a side of coleslaw and salads, we saw that other tables had this but we didn’t. Not one waitress came to ask us if everything was ok with our meals. My mums steak had gristle all the way through, that’s not what we expect from a fillet cut costing £20.99!! It was only when we’d finished our meal that a waitress asked if everything was ok. We shared our concerns with her, quite frankly she didn’t know how to reply or what to do ans we didn’t see her again! No apology! We didn’t even get asked if we wanted to see the desert menu, we just got avoided, and left to sit there. We went to the till to pay our bill, when asked if everything was ok we said no and told her our concerns. To which we had a half hearted apology and asked if it had been dealt with, which it hadn’t! There was no offer of having our drinks knocked off the bill or even the un eaten steak. Such a shame as we’ve always had a good word to say about the bakers arms, and being my father in laws local pub im sure he’ll be deeply unimpressed with our bad experience.

We went to the Bakers Arms because it had been recommended in the visitors book at the cottage we were staying in. My partner enjoyed his steak burger and said the beer was fine. I had a nut roast (which was not what I ordered). The staff and landlady were friendly and helpful, but the landlord was obnoxious.

Looking on TripAdvisor for a place to have an evening meal enroute to home, I rang the pub about 45 minutes out and was treated with helpful courtesy. Our table was waiting for us on a busy Friday evening. Service was a bit slow, as there was a good crowd and the food is seemingly cooked to order. The menu is varied, if a bit old-fashioned; it's definitely not a gastropub, but an honest village pub emphasising local ingredients. We all enjoyed our meals and didn't have room to sample the puddings.

The menu was expensive for what was on offer. It was nicely presented but slow service. I was expecting more because others had said it was good but I will not be going back there.

Second visit this time for both food and drink. The beer was well looked after and fresh with plenty to choose from. The food is excellent with ample portions. Great friendly service all round.

A large group had a festive party lunch and it was a great success. The meal was delicious, the main dishes all received good reviews and the desserts were sweet and tasty; generous portions of food and of home cooked quality. The service was prompt, efficient and with a smile. The environment was cosy and warm and all in all the perfect choice.

Used to be a regular lunch stop of ours, until things started to slip repeatedly. Good choice of ales nevertheless and always fresh. Returned for a final visit in the hope lunch would be good, but it was frankly terrible for three reasons. The menu hasn't changed in years and that alone is a reason we've tired of the pub. On arrival the slightly frosty and matter-of-fact barmaid took the order for drinks then disappeared for a bit. Eventually ordered food. Waited 45 minutes for two sandwiches which were served by another waitress who clearly had never worked in a pub before - napkins around the cutlery were a mess. The salad had no dressing and couldn't have been less imaginative, with lots of chopped up peppers and iceberg lettuce. Sandwiches were ok on the whole, but the wait was just too long. We shall not return now, having had over 20 meals there.

I had a lovely Sunday Roast meal here last weekend with Herefordshire beef, huge Yorkshire puddings and homemade roast potatoes there was so much veg and all cooked to perfection. The staff were extremely polite and friendly especially the young girl who served us at the table she was fantastic. My husband had the fish pie and was very impressed with the quality and taste, looks like we will be revisiting next time we are near Ludlow.

Our routine visit to The Bakers Arms as visiting our horse again. Once again a massive thank you to Katie and her staff for a lovely welcome, fantastic service and an even bigger thank you to Annie her homemade veggie burger it was out of this world as was all the rest of our meals. Its another 10 out of 10 from Sarah, Gemma, Michael and not forgetting Issabel.

Beautiful scenic spot, absolutely stunning. Dog friendly. Food was amazing and atmosphere good too. Boat was running as water was too high but didn’t matter to us!

Rude, extremely disappointing, shocking and disrespectful staff! We arrived after making a booking the day before. I booked 2 Adults, 1 child aged 2. The booking itself was pleasant. We got slightly lost, rang in and again very pleasant. Arrived 7 minutes late and walked into a very ‘local’ pub feel. All eyes on us. We were told by the bar person that they were glad we found them. A woman appeared and looked at my Grandson and commented ‘we don’t have highchairs’ I commented that I’d booked ahead with a child on the booking? She said she would go down in the cellar and dust something suitable to bring up then asked me if I had a chair in my car???!!!! We approached the bar and I said I was confused as I’d booked a child ahead of coming. I was ignored, I said once again and the younger woman behind the bar looked at me and in a slightly raised voice utttered ‘well, yes she’s gone to get you something hasn’t she!!’ Based on this experience I told my Friend we were leaving as being treated like this was way beyond acceptable. I wasn’t happy and I let it be known! My Friend and I were left shocked and felt we had been treated appallingly by 2 extremely rude women. Whilst we were putting my Grandson in the car the older women came out and further patronised us with her offering of a dusted off cellar chair and we told her that her colleague was vile and it had gone beyond the chair. She walked off. Having read through the reviews I can see hands have changed and so this may be why I didn’t receive the reputation I had heard of. I have the feeling they felt they were above us! I’m not easily impressed so their Morgan cars and gold large Baroque chairs only further deepens my suspicions that they think they’re better 🤣🤣

As we entered the lovely lady came to us with menus. Food was brought to us on hot plates and presented very nicely. We all enjoyed what we had. Thankyou will return.
