The tea and coffee were nice but "cream tea" was a let down. After saying we would eat in, 10 minutes later we were asked do you want "jam or cream on first?' Unusual we thought but then after another 5 minutes, a scone arrived in a burger box already spread! During this time only one other customer. Bizarre

Great chippie years ago but I’ve had 3 or more rough meals in the last few months. Never again will my family ever go back . I ordered large fish and chips…. and charged for it. It was a bit under cooked and small and the chips were mainly little gribbles. It’s like they buy bags of cut offs with no bigger chips in there. Not for me I’m afraid.

Visited whilst on holiday in Bodmin. Limited fruit & veg on shelves, layout of food seems disjointed & illogical. Limited selection of most food & stock on shelves throughout.

Disappointed with choice of hot food for lunch on a chilly cold December . Rolls etc so cold in chiller - soups as usual, so modern unappealing to older people like ourselves. Tasteless beigel , tasteless coffees and the cakes not very exciting. Will not return - will make sure we eat before we get there. Very disappointing.

Lonely brunch, very helpful splitting breakfast for the kids. Panini was very tasty and possibly the best ham and cheese panini I’ve ever had! Cappuccino is was made well too.

An absolutely fabulous meal: goat chesse tartlets, steak sandwiches, and club sandwiches absolutely delicious. As to be expected as food is cooked from scratch, there was a wait of around 30 mins, as its always busy. The young man serving us was friendly, attentive and apologetic. We walked the long woodland walk, which was a welcome break from the heat. It's muddy in places, even after days of dry weather, so take your boots. We also took home their pickle porkpie and sausage rolls again amazing!

Only 24 reviews for this venue ??? That is dreadful. Had afternoon tea here with my Mother and 2 friends - and everything brought was for 3 people - yet there was 4 of us. All the cakes were exactly the same and I am not in the habit of having 2 pieces of the same thing. Complete hash up with the tea , everything was wrong and not a soul to complain to. Invisible staff. Bad decor. Cheap cafe food and impropperly delivered by the kitchen staff who obviously were having a bad day. Appalling shame for Bournem, outh as I remember when this hotel was the best in town, but now with new Hiltons and maga bucks being invested in oither new superior hotels in Bournemouth, the Carlton will remain some place that once was a good venue but has now slipped way down in quality, style, service, food and even the bedrooms are below par - well below par.

Very disappointing although the sandwich I ordered was tasty. I arrived just gone 1pm for lunch. No-one around to greet me, bar staff totally oblivious to my presence. Found a table and sat there for over 10 minutes, still nobody appeared. Eventually, I went to the bar to order. My sandwich took about 20 minutes to arrive. It was not busy but service was slow. Asked for a glass of water which never arrived. Overall a disappointing experience for a supposed 4* hotel.

Dreadful service, idiotic and rude staff, filthy tables. The coffee was disgusting. Surprised this place is still open. It needs investigating.

Went in with family after a hospital appointment I’m so glad they named the breakfast “all day breakfast” It seemed as though we waited all day for it to be served A very quiet time , no queuing ,plenty of tables vacant , no excuse ! It wasn’t worth the wait either Won’t be returning

Wouldn’t even rate it a 1. Panini was meant to be cheese and tomato however no cheese in it. Portions were meant to come out at same time but forgot cheesy chips. Chips came out cold, with a pile of unmelted cheese on top. Can’t believe I paid around £13 for this. Service is terrible too.
