We had a lovely cream tea here and sat upstairs, overlooking The Quay, enjoying the view. We had two huge homemade scones each and there was plenty of jam and clotted cream to go with them...delicious. The staff were friendly and the service was good, so we were happy.

Really, really poor experience. Had to personally clear and clean a table in order for the 6 of us to sit down. Cakes and drinks arrived in dribs and drabs over the next 45 minutes with no explanation or apology offered for the appalling service. Will not return, and certainly wouldn’t recommend. Best avoided.

We always visit here whenever we are in bideford. We decided to sit inside as the weather was a bit gloomy. We were allowed to take our little dog in as well. He was delighted to be given a biscuit. We both had a traditional breakfast, and it was superb 👌. Hot and quality ingredients. Very reasonable price as well. The price included tea and coffee, and both were hot. Extra water was provided for the tea also. Happy hubby! Sorry no pictures as we were hungry! 🤣

Very enjoyable light lunch at The Pannier Pantry, Bideford. We visited Bideford and chose The Pannier Pantry to have a light lunch. Both had local pasties served with salad and crisps, very good Devon pasties and really good large pots of tea. Staff pleasant and cheerful. Would certainly recommend for lunch.

I was recommended to use this cafe by one of my friends, but what a disappointment!! The table had dried tea/coffee stains on it which wasnt an impressive start, I ordered 2 large sausage rolls ( warmed) along with 2 coffees. The sausage rolls took at least 20 mins. to arrive, and had been microwaved to death , ie The pastry was like rubber, and the meat inside was totally dried up, and just to compound it, the coffees didnt arrive until we had almost finished the meal---the excuse being "we forgot about your coffees". The pastry was totally inedible, and most of it went back on the plate. This prompted one of the staff to ask if there was a problem--she was informed of the above, and the response was to offer us a piece of cake to take home with us ---Which we declined. What SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED was to have been offered at least a partial refund on the inedible sausage rolls-- For balance, I have to say that the coffees were excellent when we finally got them. Sorry , we wont be using this establishment again, High prices and Very low quality.

Ordered a teacake and coffee. Teacake came with 2 small pats of butter, which for me was not enough ( I suffer with a dry throat so need moisture for me to swallow) so I asked for some more. The waitress came back with just one. Asked for more and she said she has to go all the way upstairs so no I can't! Needless to say I won't be returning. Prices are too expensive anyway.

I’ve been here quite a few times for breakfast this year, always enjoyed both the delicious food as well as the service and view - great portion size and produce for the price - I don’t tend to write reviews but a young man called Dylan made my visit extra special today, he was very kind and genuine. I loved this place anyway, but just want to give him the credit he deserves!

My husband and I visited here 3 times during our weeks stay in Webbery and the waitress only managed to get our order correct once!!! On the first occasion, we ordered 2 full breakfasts (one with brown toast and the other with white toast), however they both came with white toast! We then went for a cream tea, which took 30 minutes to arrive and the coffees were stone cold! We decided to give it another go and went for breakfast. We ordered 2 full breakfasts (one with brown toast and the other with white toast). I'm pleased to say that they managed to get the toast correct this time, but we only received a traditional breakfast!! Needless to say, we won't be going here again!!!

Would highly suggest going else where! The wait for a sandwich took over 40 minutes and when I asked after 20 or so minutes, the waitress didn’t even know I had ordered food! When it did arrive it was average at best! The social distancing rules in place were poor to say the least, and the toilets didn’t even have hot water or soap to clean your hands with! Let’s just say this is a place I need to forget!

Ordered tuna mayo sandwich and ham and cheese panini with packet of crisps each. Waitress looked confused from the very beginning! Crisps were out of date to start with and stale, 40 minutes later waitress came back to clarify sandwich order and then looked at me like it was my fault that she had sent the wrong order to the kitchen! Finally food came out and was no offer of cutlery, bread not fresh etc. Wasn’t even busy at the time so couldn’t blame it on that. Complete lack of care towards the customer and overall very disappointing! Avoid at all costs!

Dined here in the week. Very busy and tables were uncleaned from previous customers. Staff seemed busy and food was dreadfully slow. We had to ask for table to be cleaned and there seemed to be no hurry to sort this or the other 2 tables that were dirty.Food was ok when it arrived, we had to ask for the tea for a cream tea as after 5 minutes nothing had arrived. No cutlery either- bathrooms old, cracked missing tiles and it looked and smelt like it needed a proper deep clean. We went on a COVID price reduction day, so couldn’t complain about value for money, but service was slow and other people were also complaining about wrong orders and time taken from ordering to receiving food. Don’t go here if you’re on a time constraint. Nice views near the river though.

Such a shame. We decided to try this cafe for the first time. Staff were friendly and explained how the ordering system worked, which was straight forward.Ordered a Ham and cheese toastie with onion and a Brie and cranberry panini. This in itself was hard work as we had an explanation that they only do bacon and Brie and ham and cheese and will add to notes to let them know. So fair enough, waited whilst notes were added! The cafe was quiet, only us and a family of 4 who were just leaving. So initially whilst waiting I saw a young waitress, clear the table from the family of 4. Everything cleared and a brief wipe over missing edges, and majority of table, a simple flick of the cloth to get crumbs off. Not following Covid 19 advice at all. An elderly couple sat down very shortly after the family left. After 40 minutes we asked where our sandwiches were as we were the only ones in there. The waitress said she will go and check and to remind her what we had ordered.45 minutes later our sandwiches were put on the table with a quick apology for the delay. No cutlery and I had to ask the waitress twice to come back as we had concerns. The bread was barely toasted and when we asked what the delay was we were told they had been trying to get the bread brown. I felt the sandwiches and they were barely warm, the ham was shrivelled and hard and basically looked as tho it had sat on the plate for awhile. We asked to see the manager twice.Although an apology was made we were asked if we wanted to take the food with us!?Asked for a refund, and was told we could have one minus the drinks, (2 cans at £1.60 each, coke and 7up)Got the refund when they finally located our ticket minus the drinks, then was offered 2 pieces of Tiffin cake as an apology. Hmmmmm can’t refund the overpriced drinks but happy to give away cake the same price if not more!Today I Hope was an off day for them and that they can learn something from this.

The coffee was ok! FoodWe ordered pasty’s for lunch. The pasty’s were from another century. Pastry was hard, more than likely from being microwaved. All 3 pasty’s had a strange smell and definitely not fresh. I smelt mine and just tasted a very small piece, lucky that’s all because I have been ill all afternoon. Manager/owner argumentative who should get a grip on reality and throw out, way past there sell by food. Give this place a miss. Unless you want to be ill. Vomit city

Well they claim their Pasties are freshly made and baked that day. Really, they looked like reheated frozen pasties, with bits of pastry cracked and falling off. Pastry tough like it had been microwaved.Filling, smelt and tasted nasty. Came for some lunch over the weekend. Ordered quiche of the day which was salmon and Broccoli and southern fried chicken and chips. Can honestly say it was the worst food I have ever eaten. The salmon must have been tinned as it was so dry, the broccoli was wet and over cooked. The southern fried chicken was like something from Iceland chucked in a deep fat frier for an hour. The waitress bought our food over and then walked off and we didn’t have any cutlery so had to go in and ask. A shame as the inside looked promising and offered local homemade produce. Would have given 0 stars if I could.

It was busy in the downstairs room so I had to go upstairs, which was OK but a bit quiet.Anyway, I ordered my food at the counter downstairs and even though it was quite busy it arrived fairly quickly. Ordered what should have been a simple lunch home made pork pie and a prawn sandwich 2 coffees. You go downstairs to order at the counter i waited while the waitress finished off serving another table and asked is the bread wholemeal or Grannery, I don't know was the response, could you check please bacause my husband doesn't like wholemeal. I think I heard them say it's granary wad her reply yes it's granary. Can youndouble check when you put the order in i asked, if it's grannery that's ok if it's wholemeal I don't want it I,ll go for white, she apparently wrote that down. The coffees arrived quite promptly. Then we waited, and waited and waited some more. I asked a waitress was it going to be much longer she didn't come back with an answere, we waited some more we now didn't want to wait any longer so I went downstairs to find no staff. So I just waited, no one came so I went back upstairs to find the waitress had delivered the food. And guess what she had managed to get the sandwich on wholemeal!!!!! Give up eat some and leave. No Thankyou was everything ok no nothing on our departure. Would We return let me think about it No. wronge order big wait not at all good. Oh we did nearly get the stew of the day though, the waitress wandered round with two plates in her hand going to the different customers, no one claimed the stew to which she commented I new I d already done it. Stopped at the Pannier Pantry at the Custom House, Bideford for tea/coffee and scones while visiting from Scotland with my husband and two friends. We ordered our drinks and scones and sat outside and waited and waited. Around 20 minutes later our drinks arrived but not our scones. After waiting another 15 minutes my husband went inside to enquire on whereabouts of the scones and he was told they were on their way! Another 10 minutes later they arrived cold and dry and made worse by the fact our drinks were cold or finished. My friend went in to complain and the response from staff was ‘thank you for your feedback’. Disappointed in service and food quality. Will not be returning anytime soon.
