This is a great meeting place with a hiden garden out the back , a real locals pub Brian and shirley always make you welcome and have a great sense of humour. Theirs always a story or tale , they only take money not cards , but the ATM machine is very local. a good mix of ales, beers and spirits.

Great 'proper English pub!!'. We came looking for a pub with a darts board. We found it!! A proper pub with a proper landlord and landlady, and proper locals!. And Shirley cheered on the darts match all the way :) We were made to feel very welcome and had a lovely time. Thank you.

Lovely friendly pub with lovely friendly owners, as it was lovely weather we made use of the beer garden out the back which was functional but it could do with some tlc, its cash only but that's ok as long as you remember to have cash on you, but very reasonably priced drinks

We came here for a few drinks with family and our dog and were made to feel very welcome, very friendly pub. The landlady and landlord were great and our dog was very pleased with his biscuits.

Very poor attitude towards customers 20 rugby players walked into the bar on the night of 19th and where told at 10.15 the bar will be closed even though they had 3 bar staff behind the bar the landady was rude and at 9.50pm she closed the hole bar and and asked to leave very poor attitude and very rude landlady

The pubs in Bideford need to be aware that tourists come to spend money and expect nice environment not locals being aggressive and using unacceptable language. This pub is no different from the others in addition that they do not accept cards! Does Bideford have a problem with their pubs?

I like visiting pubs of all types, and when staying in Bideford found this little place by chance. It is proper old school, many pubs like this are sadly no longer trading. The landlady (Shirley?) was very friendly, and we had a chat about some of the local history, and pubs of the town. Although the pub is quite small there is a surprisingly large sunny beer garden at the rear. I enjoyed a couple of ciders, and a chat with some of the locals. This is a pub I would visit again when in town if I get the chance.

Adore this pub! Not pretty but a proper pub. People are friendly if your friendly to them. Landlady is full of character and landlord is welcoming and friendly. If you want slick service and a pint with a burger for £8 there is a Wetherspoons up the road. If you want a traditional pub where your welcomed if well mannered there is no better place. By FAR my favourite drinking hole!

Thought we would give some trade to this pub set back in a secondary street away from riverside. Online it looked nice and had an outside seating area. Walked in to bar. No other customers at the bar. Two members of staff: one doing accounts with a calculator and one texting. They both ignored us. When we spoke to each other, one looks up, said hi and then went back to texting. Nothing said; not even “sorry I’ll be with you in a sec, I just need to finish this”. We have up and left.

Needed to find a place to sit down and have a drink. Found this pub down one of the small streets off the main road and it was lovely. Sat in the back garden with the family. Does seem like a locals pub, but very welcoming to guests. Honest, affordable prices for drinks and snacks.

Very pleasant cheap little pub in the backstreets of Bideford. Pleasant little garden, they dont serve food at the moment apart from rolls but do allow you to bring your own in to enjoy with your pint. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're looking for a pint in Bideford.

Just popped in to get out of the rain, lovely little pub made to feel very welcome by the lady behind the bar and the customers, thank you for welcoming and fussing our two dogs and understanding Jagos anxiety issues, they both enjoyed the free treats. Will call again next time we are here hopefully.

Don't bother visiting this pub if your thirsty, the old lady behind the bar is more interested in talking than serving customers. Waited 5 minutes she continually looked at me but wouldn't stop talking. Had to walk out and go to another pub otherwise dehydration would have set in

Wecalled into the White Hart every evening when we were in Bideford. Shirley is a lovely lady who made us feel welcome and treated us like locals, also she made a great fus of our dog Teddy. We will be back next year. Highley recomeneded.

Friendly staff indeed but the food made me feel a little sick. Didn't seem too fresh.

Called in today, warm welcome by the landlord, had Doom bar ale which was very good, couple of locals came in, all very chatty, good "old fashioned pub " one bar, I will DEFIINITLY call in again ( probably for longer ) next time I'm in bideford, next week ? Thoroughly recommended !!

Bit dated but a cracking pint of Guinness

A warm welcome from a very much "locals" pub. We missed the Sunday afternoon meat raffle but caught the cheer of the late afternoon revellers. Situated just off the quay in a small side street with an enclosed beer garden. The beer was good and reasonably priced.

We visited Bideford on a rainy Sunday and were having trouble finding a place that was open and allowed dogs. Were pointed in the direction of a nice local pub and when we arrived the lady behind the bar apologised as their cooker was broken and so couldn't serve us food. However she suggested that we could buy fish and chips and bring it to The White Hart to eat out of the rain which we graciously accepted. When we returned with the fish and chips the lady offered us cutlery and we bought a round of drinks, nothing better than a cold beer to go with cod and chips after all. During the meal the landlord came over and gave our dog a treat too which she is very thankful for. The pub itself is a proper traditional local pub with a lovely atmosphere. A true hidden gem.

7 of us stayed in Bideford for a long weekend we popped into the white Hart pub by accident,Shirley the landlady is a great character she's proper old school which is very rare these days she says it how it is,we went back a few times the locals were friendly and we all had a great time.

Not a pub for family's down for a holiday a bit rough and ready more of a locals pub, will I be going back no I don't think so.

Over the years I have popped into the White Hart for a pint quite a few times and always found it charming but a little cramped, especially when busy. Only recently I discovered the huge beer garden out the back with great seating. I'm sold

Fancying a beer before lunch, we visited The White Hart for a real ale. The only handpump in use had Sharps Doom Bar. Shame no Devon beer but I enjoy Doom Bar with its Cornish roots. However, this was tired, sour, flat, and out of condition. Went bank to bar which was empty of staff and customers. Left drink on counter and found bar maid outside on pavement smoking. Told her. I was offered a Bombardier but declined. They don't seem to understand beer management. No refund offered. This is worth missing based on our experience.

Very handily place by the quay. Just perfect for a refreshment whilst walking the Coastal path. When we visited it was relatively quiet with a handful of locals (as opposed to tourists) which was great as we were served promptly.

Cucharas clima necesitamos descafeinado por favor, no me importa si es instantáneo!

Ok as pubs go. Locals were all very jovial. The Thai food was average. The bar maid was very friendly and helpful and the place had a very good local feel. Sadly for us there was nothing else open to compare with.

Good food and friendly service, the menu is quite good and they have meals for kids as well. The prices are mid-range but you do get a lot for your money, great atmosphere.

Crecí en Bideford, y de vuelta en los años 80, en mis hijos adolescentes, mis amigos y yo regularmente bebido en el White Hart porque parecía pintoresco y pasada de moda. Yo estaba de vuelta en Bideford para unos pocos días la semana pasada así que pensé visitar unos de mis viejos sitios (aquellos que aún están allí, por lo menos! ). El White Hart era exactamente como lo recordaba ... y me refiero exactamente. No parece haber sido alguna decoración o renovación en el último cuarto de siglo, y se ve muy parecidas a las de un pub de la década de los setenta, hasta las paredes aparentemente todavía manchadas de nicotina y techo - a pesar de la prohibición de fumar! (No estoy insinuando que ignoran la prohibición, sólo que no han sido pintadas recientemente). En cuanto a las bebidas, la cerveza nada especial (tuve un melancólico Bar, uno de mis favoritos, y no fue magnífico, especialmente gracias a una mejor pinta de la misma cerveza en un pub diferente cerca) y la coca-cola de mi esposa era plana. Había música en - una buena selección de canciones clásicas de piedra - pero el equipo utilizado para jugar era tan mala que era imposible distinguir incluso si las vías estaban por los artistas originales o alguna banda barata de cubrir. Sin embargo, parte de la razón por la que fuimos a un pub es el ambiente y tengo que decir que superado el White Hart en este aspecto - los lugareños eran unos auténticos personajes, los propietarios muy amables y agradables (si un poco contrariado ver rostros unfamilar al principio!) y no dudaría en volver. Realmente, el lugar se merece más de tres estrellas, pero este es el lugar donde Tripadvisor cae porque no hay duda de que no es un hotel de cuatro estrellas vale la pena examinar. Yo le daría a tres y tres 400 estrellas si pudiera.

Tuvimos una agradable comida aquí la semana pasada, la comida fue servido con prontitud y de un alto nivel de calidad y el personal era muy amable y acogedor. A pesar de que eran los únicos de la parte del restaurante el pub, no nos sentimos muy raro o fuera de lugar, ya que aún había un ambiente agradable. Si nos locales que aquí cada semana!

Popped in for a pint and met some friends there, very old and olde worlde atmospere, serves real ale and scrumpy, nice little garden at the back to sit in weather permitting.

Fuimos en aquí durante una hora para un par de cervezas durante una parada en Bideford durante un viaje en autocar semana pasada, y nos gustó mucho.

Justo al frente del agua, es un pub abajo sincera de la tierra, con buena cerveza y personal amable. Hacía mucho tiempo que no estaba en un pub donde nos llamaron una campana de bronce de señal pedidos y luego 'tiempo' !

Located down a road off the main street you'll find a good honest eating whole. The food for all four of us was well cooked, presented and you got plenty of it.Good honest pub grub!

Had a family meal at the White Inn, there was nine of us and they accomodated us superbly at the very last minute. Food was superbly presented and extremely good value for money. The staff could not do enough for us, and the locals were very friendly telling us the history of the pub and allowing us to join in with their conversations. We finished the evening by sitting out in the the walled garden with latte's surrounded by beautiful roses and flowers. What an explended way to end the evening - we will definetley be returning on our next return to bideford.
